Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

Jungle of Wraiths

OoC: Ok this is an adventure/quest type of thing for me and 3 other people. Ok our simple transport ship was caught in a storm and we are stranded on this tropic island, with zombies and ghosts and stuff and we have to find a way off the island. Using Ywen, link in sig.

BiC: Ywen sat up, her blonde hair falling down over the sides of her face as she stood up slowly. She brushed the cold sand off her face and tried to get it out of her hair as she looked around. The smell of sea water and fish filled her nose, and she tried to get her bearings. The sun shown slightly through a thin layer of gray clouds, and there was an eerie fog about, giving the surroundings a weird feel, like in a dream. She tried to remember what had happened the night before but all she could remember were large waves and the cracking of wood. In front of her lay the open ocean, as far as she could see through the fog, and a small chunk of the hull lay stuck in a tidepool. Behind her lay a forbidding wall of jungle. No animal noises came from the jungle, and it seemed like it was calling her name. Purple crabs scuttled across the sand, and small tide pools and planks of wood dotted the beach. She walked around on sand, with a pounding headache when she noticed a figure lying face down in the sand. She ran over to investigate, he speed cut in half by the sand.

OoC: ok this is where the first person comes in, make this a good one!

Re: Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

Ywen ran over to the lying figure, and rolled him over. She saw the face of a young, blonde-haired teenager, and noticed he was dressed mostly in red. Ywen realized the teenger was still breathing, but did not seem to be concious. She wondered if he too survived the wreck.

"Don't move one muscle." said a figure behind Ywen as it held bladed weapon at her neck. "Are you one of the survivors?"

Ywen tried to look back, and only caught a quick glance of the figure. However, when he she turned back around, she saw a burst of smoke in front of her, and noticed the teenager was gone. The elven girl had an emotion of frustration in her mind, since she had fallen for whoever the figure was's trap.

"Yes, but who are you?" asked Ywen.

"Another survivor." said Takeo as he slowly pulled away the kunai from the girl's neck. "I did not know if you were friend or foe, so I had to use this on you."

The shinobi stood up and took a step back from Ywen. He looked at the girl and noticed her beauty. That kind of beauty reminded Takeo of an old friend, but he quickly pushed aside his thoughts a he focused his attention on the girl. He held out a hand to her, and looked at her emotionless. Ywen looked at Takeo, noticing he looked exactly like the figure that was lying on the ground.

"I am Takeo Koroshu." said the shinobi. "You are?"

"I am Ywen" she said keeping her hands to herself. The ninja looked at her but then drew his hand back.

"So, always put knives to the throats of people you dont know?" She said. He is radiating cockiness, Not a good sign. I don't have time for this she thought as she waited for an answer.

The ninja dismissed the remark and looked around, surveying the landscape. Ywen sighed and started walking towards the forest, kicking sand as she walked, the crabs scuttling away from the barrage of sand.

OoC:Hopefully more people will come!

Re: Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

((OoC: I think I'll drop Faolan into this mess. Link in sig of course. Sorry if this is too long; kinda got carried away writing. Xp))

The hollow whooshing sound of the ocean waves sliding across sand filled Faolan’s ears gently. Where am I? he wondered dimly. He remembered boarding a boat to travel somewhere... some island with a small village. Ah yes, someone from the city had told him of a friend of theirs who lived there who could very much use a knight’s assistance. Something having to do with kobolds—

But the ship wasn’t rocking with the waves, and Faolan knew he definitely wasn’t in the bantam bed he’d gone to sleep on. He blinked open his eyes and took a look around. The sleeping quarters were quite dark, and the only light filtered in through gashes in the wooden walls, ceiling, and floor. All around him lay piles of mutilated wood and shredded fabric. Faolan became abruptly aware that he was entangled in a mess of nets, hanging upside down, suspended a few feet off the ground.

Or was that a wall? The room wasn’t aligned properly according to the knight's sense of gravity. Oh no, Faolan’s stomach dropped out, we’ve been shipwrecked. He squirmed around in the web of net, trying to find a way to get loose. A few moments later, he’d dropped unceremoniously to the ground – relative to himself anyway. He stood up and brushed some sand off of himself, and scanned the room for his equipment chest. It was an arduous task at best; the light coming in through the holes in the woodwork wasn’t bright enough to sufficiently illuminate the enclosure. Instead, it only served to hinder his natural night vision. This wasn’t even taking into consideration the small mounds of mangled beds and fabric.

Eventually, he located the chest buried inside one of the mountains of wood, and before long he’d donned all his gear. It was in surprisingly good condition, considering all the other destruction around him. Must be a really well-made chest. Faolan began ascending the piles of furnishings carefully until he was able to unsteadily pull himself up to the next level.

The floor was at a steep slant on this level – whichever one it was – and he very nearly lost his balance and toppled down the slope. The light was much clearer in here, to his relief. A brief scan of the room afforded him an exit; a particularly large gash in the hull, probably created by a nasty boulder. After a couple attempts at getting up to it, however, Faolan concluded it was out of his reach. He slid down to the sand, where most of the furniture was piled up. Most of it looked too damaged to be of any use to him, however. Finally, he spotted a reliable-looking chair that he could use as a stool. Just as he began to reach for it, he noticed a body buried under several pounds of destroyed wood. Oh gods, the captain! Faolan realized as he stumbled over to the body. He didn’t need to check the captain’s pulse to know he was dead.

Even so, Faolan thought the man deserved a proper burial, and he set to work pulling the wood off the corpse. Tonight’s a full moon, the knight remembered suddenly. He’d hoped to bide his time as a werewolf out of sight on the small island. Well, I seem to be alone here anyway... After several minutes of hard work, the body had been uncovered. It was quite mangled by the wreckage, and it was starting to make the room smell rancid. Despite this, Faolan dutifully dug a small grave for the body, deposited it inside, and buried it. He even made a makeshift headstone with some of the scrap wood.

As Faolan said a prayer for the captain’s spirit, he became aware of voices speaking outside the boat, and his stomach turned. Looks like I’m not alone after all... He finished up the prayer and hastily assembled a platform to reach the hole with. He hoisted himself up outside of the ship and into the daylight, and he blinked as his eyes adjusted to the unfettered brightness. Once his eyes had adjusted, he scanned the area. The ship was beached along a lengthy shoreline; the sand stretched on far into the distance in either direction. Several feet off in the distance there was a dense, forbidding-looking jungle. A thin fog permeated the entire scene, and the air was unpleasantly humid. The jungle was eerily silent, and the soft lapping of the ocean waves against the shoreline seemed to only magnify the absence of other sounds.

Faolan quickly located the source of the voices; there was a wood elf woman who was now wandering aimlessly toward the jungle, and another human who looked to be about the same age as him. He recalled the wood elf’s name quickly; Ywen. They’d met and chatted briefly on the boat, but that’s about it. The other man was a stranger, however. Faolan clumsily slid down the deck of the boat and onto the sand, and began striding toward the two.

He came to the other human first, who’d evidently watched him climb out of the ship. He had fair hair and blue eyes, but the latter appeared totally empty, iced-over. His expression was completely impassive, and Faolan could already tell he wasn’t the social type.

“Uh, hello,” Faolan began uncertainly, straightening his back. The other man regarded him coolly, giving him a quick and subtle once-over.

“Hello,” he responded tonelessly, “you are?”

“I’m Faolan, a wandering knight.” The other man didn’t look impressed.

“Takeo Koroshu,” he responded, “shinobi.” The name sounded quite foreign to Faolan’s ears, and he hadn’t the foggiest notion what a “shinobi” was. This only served to widen the initially large gap between the two teenaged warriors. Sensing there was nothing else to be said, Faolan gave Takeo a slight bow and gestured toward the jungle.

“I’m going to take a little look around,” he muttered. Takeo nodded and returned to studying his surroundings. Faolan eagerly disengaged from the particularly disconcerting social encounter, and trotted over toward the much more familiar wood elf.

“Ywen,” he hailed. As she turned around and smiled slightly in recognition, Faolan became aware he didn’t have anything to say. “Er, you alright?” He felt dumb even asking, considering she was walking around just fine.

Re: Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

OoC: I shall put Kyle in this one, Link in Sig.

Kyle was brushed up in the sand and was soak by the oecan's water and had sand all over his body. Kyle got and brushed himself and looked around to see where he was at, he noticed that there were pieces of wood around from the ship. Kyle began to walk around to see if he wasn;t the only survivor on the this island.

Kyle noticed three figures walking, one was talking to this wood elf woman and and the other surveying the island. Kyle began to walk up to them and introduce himself, " Hey there the name is Kyle" as he approached a kinght of some sort, the knight put his hand out and Kyle shaked his hand in return " My name is Faolan" he said, "nice to meet you".

Kyle also greeted the wood elf woman "My name is Ywen" she said, " Mine is Kyle" he said.
Kyle turned around to greet the other person but wasn't sure but Kyle went up and itroduce himself "the name is Kyle" Kyle said, "Takeo Koroshu Shinobi" he said.
Kyle looked at him wierd "hmm shinobi I heard of thst somewhere but don't remember exactly where" Kyle thought

"well nice to meet you all so what are we going to do now on this Island" kyle said

OoC: Hope this is good enough for an introduction

Re: Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

Ywen stared at the strangly dressed boy. Man, he looks weird she thought as she brushed her hair behind her ears. A rain drop fell, a small "tink" sounding as the drop hit his pauldron. More "tink" sounds occured, and soon rain drops were pummelng them. The sand shifted under Ywen's feet, and she leapt back. A black and rotting hand burst from the ground, grappling for somthimg. A head rose out of the sand, pat of it's skull exposed, the rotten flesh having been worn away. A groan was heard from the mist, and figures were walking slowly through the mist. Ywen kicked at the grappling hand, and it flew off into the mist, and soon the figures were visible, and there was no mistake of what they were. Zombies. Ywen drew her sword and a knife, flipping them into the ready position, and Faolon and Kyle drew their swords. The ninja just stood there, watching the zombies walk closer.

"Got any big plans?" Ywen said, brushing her hair back again, saying it to no one in particular, hoping someone would had an idea.

Re: Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

"Got any big plans?" said Ywen.

"How about killing them before they kill us?" asked the shinobi as he let a handful of shuriken and kunai drop into his hand from his sleeve.

The shinobi threw the projectiles at the zombies, and they hit them in the face, making them fall on their backs. Takeo then pulled out another handful of kunai and shuriken, and continued throwing them at the zombies. They kept falling one after another, but it just seemed that more and more of them were coming. The shinobi began to get agitated as the vile creatures just didn't die, so he threw a final handful of projectiles, and bent down on the ground as he performed a quick series of hand seals.

"Burn in hell!" shouted Takeo before he inhaled as much air as possible, and then exhaled all of the air in his lungs. A large stream of fire came out of Takeo's mouth, and headed for the group of zombies. As the flames receded, Takeo looked to see if the jutsu had done enough to stop the creatures from coming back.

Re: Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

Kyle looked at the shinobi blowing out fire and it was amazing to him cause he hasn't seen such thing like that before but Kyle had a few problems of his own. several zombies came towards him and Kyle began slicing them in half and but more kept coming. Kyle kept swinging and fighting back but kept coming, then Kyle was started to form a Posion Ball to see if this will be effected on the zombies.

Kyle gathered a huge dark energy that was almost his size and threw in front of the zombies and exploded "looks like the posion took affect" Kyle said as he ran cutting them in half. The zombies fell to the ground and Kyle looked behind him to see if there were anymore and sure enough more came.

Kyle gathered his blakc magic onto his sword and form Dark Blade and soon began to fight more.

Re: Jungle of Wraiths(3 other people)

It wasn’t long before the group was divided up. Faolan swung his sword in a measured stroke that took a zombie’s head off, and for a moment he caught a glimpse of Takeo handling his own swarm. As quickly as he saw it though, two more zombies replaced the downed one and Faolan was forced to duck a clumsy swing from one of the shambling bodies. He sprung back up quickly and shield-bashed one out of the way, impaling the other on his sword. He quickly kicked the body off and spun around to slice another zombie coming up behind him. He could see his kills mounted up around him, and the piles of bodies were only getting taller. When will this end!? he wondered frantically.

He began to lose sense of time and space, simply swinging savagely at anything that moved that wasn’t one of the other survivors. He watched each abomination collapse limply to the sand and then he’d spin around to face the next one, and the scene would repeat endlessly. He ripped his sword from a particularly troublesome zombie, pulling out a few bloody, rotted entrails along with his blade. He quickly shook the innards off and spun around, already in position for yet another killing stroke. It took a moment for him to realize there was nothing there, and he spun back around the other way. However the only zombies that were visible to him now were the already dispatched ones.

It was finally over. Faolan sheathed his sword and stowed his shield and plopped down on the sand, catching his breath. He scanned the beach in case there were more coming, but all he saw were the other survivors, all in various states of exhaustion. Faolan abruptly became aware of the stench coming from the bodies and he made haste toward the ocean side. By the gods what island is this? he mused with alarm as he glanced back at the slaughter behind him. When no answer was brought forth from his mind, he sought out Ywen.

“Any idea where we are?” he asked hopelessly.

“I know as much as you do, Faolan.” She replied with a dark grin. He got similar answers from Takeo and Kyle, and soon they got similar answers from each other. It was at about this time they realized that they were utterly stranded and lost.

***

“We could build a raft,” suggested Kyle, “then we could just sail away.”

“To where?” asked Takeo dryly, “The middle of nowhere? We don’t even know how far away the nearest island is, let alone which direction it’s in.” The group sat silently around their meager fire, grimly facing the truth of the shinobi’s statement. The sun was beginning to dip below the horizion, taking the temperature along with it at an alarming pace; by nightfall their breath would be a visible mist in front of their mouths. As long as they had a fire burning, however, the cold and the darkness would be held at bay.

Faolan glanced up at the sky worriedly. I have to get away before nightfall. His stomach felt knotted as he made absolutely no progress in way of a plan. Time marched on, and the group stayed huddled firmly around the fire’s light and heat, to Faolan’s dismay. He glanced forlornly over toward the ship, and suddenly realized a plan. It wasn’t that great, but it would have to work.

“Well,” he began tentatively, “so long as we’re stuck here we should at least set up a camp.” To his immense relief, there was no objection and everyone set about creating makeshift tents out of the wreckage. When all was said and done, the sun was almost all the way out of the sky, and Faolan rushed to make things come together.

“Someone should take watch.” He said a little more urgently than he meant to. Ywen raised her hand almost immediately. That's not according to plan. he thought despondantly. He'd hoped to take watch -- no chance he'd be seen as a werewolf then. But it was too close to nightfall to object and try to mend the unforseen error. It’s going to be a long night, Faolan realized, but he slipped into his tent anyway. I hope I fit into this thing when I transform, – and then, as an afterthought, And by the gods please don’t let anyone come peeking into my tent! He could already tell he was going to face a sleepless, paranoid night.
