Battlefield (Hyrulian Hero)

Elven Corpses lay piled up in mounds across the battlefield which stank of rotting flesh. A few firest still raged; a testament to the horrendous bloodshed of the previous day.

Kilafein and the rest of his Drow raiding party went picking through the plain, taking weapons and looting corpses. At last he found the body he had been looking for: the elven captain.

He smiled grimly remembering the fight yesterday....

The raid was going well, much better than planned The Elven soldiers had been drawn away from their defences onto a large open plain, chasing some Drow scouts. Most of Kilafein's force were hidden in the long grass on either side of the plain and the Elves came running straight into the trap, oblivious to the impending danger.

Kilafein made the hurried signal to attack in Drow sign language to his Lieutenant acroos the other side of the plain. Jarzt nodded and then suddenly the Drow bust from the grass firing their famous hand crossbows at the Elves.

The Elves wheeled around and began fighting back, Kilafein then charged, his two Longswords elagantly swinging; smashing skulls and chopping off arms. He kept advancing, his swords swinging in arcs, all the while dodging blows.

By now the elves had formed up into a circle, desperately trying to hold off the attack...but they knew no reinforcements were coming. The slash of blade upon blade continued; the screaming of the dead, blood soaking the once peaceful plain.

Kilafein was now in the thick of it. One elf armed with a spear charged him, he easily sidestepped and smashed both blades down onto his head as he charged past. Another seeing Kilafein so brutallt slay his comrade waded in , sword and shield raised, ready to strike.

Kilafein planted both his feet and swung his Longswords in defensive twists. the elf then made his move lunging with his swords. Kilafein smiled and snapped his wrist back, knocking the sword aside, he then spun around battered away his foes' shield and gracefully piveted slicing through the elf's chest.

The drow then caught sight of the Elf captain. At last! A test of his skill perhaps? The Elf wore gold half-plate with a helmet and carried two Longswords liek Kilafein.

Kilafein raced towards him blocking any blows that came his way. The Elf spun round and caught sight of him fixing him with a look of pure hatred.

"Prepare for your death cousin" Kilafein spat in common
"We may lose this battle, but I will make sure of your death underdark scum!" The elf retorted.
"Ha!" Kilafeinc cried as the Elf ran towards him. Kilafein raised both swords watching the Elf's every move, then when the captain was nearly upon him blades raised, he went into a roll and came out on the other side of the Elf, striking at the Elf captain's right leg mid-way through the roll.

"Aagh" The Elf screamed.

Kialfein then taking advantage of his opponents discomfort leapt into the air preparing to cleave the Elf's head off, but the Elf ducked at the last minute and Kialfein landed into a roll. Kialfein then decided to try a clever trick. He ran towards the Elf both blades helt close together pointing towards him. The Elf immediately Aligned his Baldes ready to block the tight stabbling move that it seemed the Drow was to perfrom, but then Kilafein suddenly front-fliiped into the air, his longswords arcing out in a spiral slicing off the confused elf's head in one clean motion.

Kilafein landed softly and smiled.

Kilafein stripped the dead Elf Captain's plate and helm and handed them to his Lieutenant.

"These should fetch a fair price he said smiling"

"Aye" replied his Lieutenant "But aren't we to move back on to the Elven settlement?" he queried "it is unguarded now, according to my scouts"

Kilafein recognised the excitment in his Lieutenant's voice and he too eagerly awaited more bloodshed, however he knew that the Drow were tired and needed to be rested in case more Elves did arrive to guard the Village.

"Tommorow" Kilafein said "We need to be at our full strength, just on case..." he explained.

Jarzt nodded in agreement remebering the time when they had attacked "an unguarded settlement" only for them to fall into a surprise attack.

The Drow had set up soem tents and were currently busy chatting and gambling with the loot they had acquired. An early morning mist then bagan to set over the plain and Kilafein headed over to his tent and lighted a fire, throwing a few nearby elf corpses in to his amusement.

Ooc: so the Drow/vamp is drawn to the scent of the blood and dead elves will be a nice feast??

Re: Battlefield (Hyrulian Hero)

ooC: Nope, Tay doesn't drink blood.

BiC: The drow’s gauntlet flashed upward in a black blur, snatching the arrow out of the air. His mouth turned downward in a disapproving frown, he snapped it in half with one hand. Tay’s pale-skinned counterpart took a step backwards, his jaw falling open in amazement and horror. Tay dropped the wooden splinters and took a step forward, the elf across from him taking a step back.

“Please,” Tay began in the Common tongue. “I mean you no harm. You have nothing to fear from me.” The drow held out both arms disarmingly, but to no avail.

“Get back you evil scum!” The elf shrieked in terror, waving a slender sword clumsily. “Keep your poisonous lies to yourself!” Tay frowned even more. This elf was still quite young, and as such, he had hoped that he would be more accepting of him than the older elves set in their ways. “You’ll all pay for what you did! You may have slaughtered the Guard, but more will come to bring justice upon you!” As he spoke, the young elf stumbled backwards, finally turning and sprinting away, leaving Tay stunned at his words. What did he mean? Who shall pay for what? The drow’s mouth tightened and he started forward after the boy, but almost immediately stopped.

He could have easily caught the boy, but to what point? Any information he would have attempted to extract from him would only result in more terror, more screaming, and likely more attempts on his life. Tay shook his head and spun around on his heel. No, rather than traumatize the poor lad, he would find his own answers. Calling upon his innate powers of levitation, the drow slowly lifted above the treetops. Throwing his piwafwi out, the half-breed spread his wings, immediately catching an air current and gliding away.
The drow’s eyes scanned the region, looking for any telltale signs. The elf’s words were a surprise, to say the least, but not so much as to be considered unexpected. If it was as it sounded, a Drow raid had likely occurred not far from here. Tay shook his head at the follies of his kin. If only they spent a day in the life of a surface elf, what joys might they know? Or would the whole experience be wasted on them?

The half drow shot through the night sky, a dark missile against the starry expanse above him. The trees below him were thick, its branches sheltering the overgrown forest floor below them. But Tay was not interested in the immediate area. If the drow had launched a raid, they would most likely be around a nearby mountain range or gorge, both possible of containing passages down into the Underdark. A shift in the wind brought a horrible stench into Tay’s path, the rancid odor causing him to gag and almost fall out of the air. Covering his nose and mouth with a hand, the drow looked around. The breeze was carrying a thick black smoke from the left. Swerving, the half-breed ducked low over the trees and below the layer of smoke, the source of which was clear now.

Flames dotted a wide field, the sporadic sprawl of tents outlined by the campfires and the pale pink light peaking over the horizon. Quickly folding his wings around himself, Tay dropped to the ground, crouching low in the tall grass. To be frank, Tay was considerably surprised. Never would he had suspected Drow raiders to make camp in an open field, for it was so completely unlike them to allow any potential weak spots, which camp in an open field most certainly was. A breeze brought a whiff of the smoke he had detected earlier to his nose. No, not just any field, he realized, his eyes going wide. A battlefield. The young elf’s words clicked into place, so many things making sense. Except one thing.
Drow never let anyone escape alive, not in Menzoberranzan and not on the surface. If they had raided a settlement, there should none who knew about it so soon. Tay’s eyes widened even more. Unless the actual attack on the settlement had yet taken place. The half-breed pulled the hood of his piwafwi over his head, disappearing from view. The invisible drow skittered across the grassy field, drawing closer to the camp. If the attack had yet to take place, then there was a chance he could prevent it.

The invisible drow halted as he approached a sentry, two well-armored drow chatting to each other in their—and Tay’s—native tongue. Tay smiled at his luck as one of them turned and headed into the main camp, the other crossing his arms and gazing out across the plain. It must be the change time for the sentries. He realized. Perfect. Tay grabbed one of the slender knives strapped to his chest and twirled it around his fingers. Even if he was invisible, the guard would still see his heat signature, foregoing any possibility of getting close enough to end his life silently. Therefore, he would have to do it from a distance.

Tay stood up suddenly and let fly, his knife homing in on the drow’s throat. The sentry mouthed wordlessly, weak fingers grasping at the knife before he fell to the ground. Tay slipped forward and freed the blade from the drow’s esophagus, cleaning it on the dead elf’s cloak. For almost an hour, Tay worked his way around the perimeter of the camp, forever silencing the sentries one by one. Finally, at the one hour mark, he found himself back at the sentry post he had started at, a lone drow making his way towards him. Tay grinned as the drow looked around from the guard he was suppose to replace, a look of confusion on his face.
Just as Tay was preparing to throw again, the drow tripped on the body of his dead companion, hitting the ground hard. Tay was on him in an instant, slitting his throat, but not before he had let out a shrill whistle. Tay’s head snapped around to see black and white heads appearing out from between tent flaps in the center of the field.

“Damn!” Tay spat, cleaning his knife and sliding it home. The drow dashed forward into the camp before its occupants were fully roused, blades springing out of his gauntlets. The lone drow leapt and danced around the raiders, his invisible blades slashing them open from throat to navel. Yet he had only felled a few before the commotion was fully noticed, and weapons were drawn. Even if he was invisible, the raiders around him could still see him in the heat spectrum, and once they did, they formed a tight ring around him.

Giving up the charade, Tay threw back his cloak and hood, becoming visible in the normal spectrum. The half-breed and the raiders faced off in silence for a moment, the breaking sun bathing them all in a pink and gold light. Tay circled in place, his arms held up defensively as he tried to determine where the first attack would come from. There was a slight murmuring in the crowd, and the group in front to Tay splint in two. At first, the drow thought they were letting him through, even though such a notion was laughable at best. But the intent was made clear as a lone drow made his way down the aisle towards Tay, a malicious smile on his face as he stepped into the ring.

Re: Battlefield (Hyrulian Hero)

Ooc: ooh nice post man lots of detail ^^ although you do realise the raiding force is massive and you can't take all the Drow out..sheesh! Also could you refer to your character as Half-Drow not Drow, so we don't get confused...
Anyway:
Bic:
Kelafein knew it had been risky camping out on the plain, luckily so far, there had been no trouble.... until now..

An intruder ahd been picking off some of the sentries around the perimeter, he ahd been alerted to the intruder, a long time ago and the main body of the Drow force had simply watched at first ready to form a strategy, at dawn they encircled the creatur, which tore off its hood...

"a half-breed" Kelafein muttered as he headed towards the creature, Drow parting the circle to let him through..

He made a quick signal to the encircling Drow, who all loaded their famed hand crossbows and aimed them at the hal-breed.

"What are you?" Kelafein asked in drow to the thing..
" I am a Half Drow half Vampire" replied the being calmly,
"what is the need for all this bloodshed?" he asked " Why spill the blood of innocent elves" he said angrily...

The drow burst into laughter, maliciously...
"Ha.." laughed Kelafein, you should blame the Elf God.... I'm sure I don't need to remind you of what he did to blessed Lloth? He rasped, fingering his Lloth amulet "and why ask these questions? you know our ways half-caste"

Genuinely curious, Kelafein then asked "what is your purpose here?" he asked carefully choosing his words..."know that if you make one move your skin will be pireced with hundreds of posioned bolts" and you shall be taken to the Underdark and the Priestesses of Lloth will turn you into a Drider!"

There was hushed silence, the prospect of becoming a Drider was one of the msot feared punishments any Drow could be given.

"Speak!" cried Kelafein, his hands resting on his sword hilts..

Re: Battlefield (Hyrulian Hero)

Tay crossed his arms over his chest, the blades retracting back into nothingness. The half-drow considered the question for a moment? Why was he here? That he be so seemed obvious, but a real, logical answer seemed fleeting. It was fleeting, but it was oh-so obvious.

“Because, evil drow,” He said, closing his eyes and focusing on the ring around him. “I am what I am. My skin may share the same tone as yours, but my heart knows a light yours shall never.” The ring of drow around him shifted nervously, and the leader seemed put off his guard. “I know the truth of the world—no the worlds. The one up here, and the one down there. I have seen the truth, and I have accepted it as a part of myself.” Tay’s eyes flashed open.

“I am here because it is right and good that I be so. Because no more innocent blood need be spilt. Because those who are mindless pawns of the Spider-Bi*ch Queen are better off in the netherworld!” As he finished—yelling in passion and righteousness—Tay gripped the knives strapped on either side of his torso and whipped them out, turning a full circle as he released them into the drow ranks. Immediately after he had let them all fly, the half-breed conjured as large of a globe of darkness as he could, covering both himself and the entire ring around him. Even as he summoned the darkness, he dropped flat on his chest.

And not a moment too soon. Countless hand crossbows clicked, sounding as a barrage of pebbles against a stone floor. Poisoned darts flew over Tay’s head, one just barely skimming his snow-white hair. Most of the drow had fired straight across at where the half-drow had been, but more than several had aimed higher, expecting Tay to have levitated upwards above the line of fire. The vampire smiled as a chorus of screams sounded, at least half of the drow struck by friendly fire. Those poisonous would even the odds considerably.

Tay leapt to his knees and rolled away before someone thought to converge on him and hack away at him in the dark. Rising fully to his feet, Tay began to hop backwards, his hands weaving intricate patterns in the air as he began the castings of a spell. Several of the surviving drow picked up his voice over the noise of their dieing comrades and turned their drow-made crossbows towards him, but the deadly bolts merely bounced off of his armor, the dragon scales proving mightier than the poisoned bolts.

Exiting the orb of darkness, Tay began to circle to the side where he estimated the majority of the survivors to be. Finishing his spell, the drow held out his hands, a cone of fire leaping forth into the darkness to sear the raiders. Tay summoned forth the blades from of his gauntlets once more, well aware that his clever kin would puzzle out where he had gone. Calling on yet another of his innate abilities, Tay rose into the air above the globe of darkness. And found, to his surprise, the drow leader already hovering there, apparently waiting for him.

The raider smiled maliciously as he drew his swords, nodding at Tay before he canceled the spell and lowered back to the ground. Tay smiled grimly. Drow spells of levitation were invaluable, but there was one setback. Once in the air, one could not steer their movements, the only options being up and down. Tay however, was gifted—or cursed, depending on how you looked at it—with wings, and need no drow spells to stay aloft. Spreading his wings now, the half-breed canceled his globe of darkness and swooped down on the drow leader, his adamantine blades held forth like the claws of a winged predator. And indeed he was.

Re: Battlefield (Hyrulian Hero)

Ooc: sorry for not psoting for a wile, I'll try to post regularly from now on "

Bic:
"Back" Yelled, Kelafein and the raiders moved away from the battle, he was having with the Half-Drow.
Rising in the air, he moved towards the Half-Drow;

"you misguided fool", he said laughing mockingly, "you think you know the truth, yet you have seen nothing, you are blind holding up false ideals, you think you are doing what is right, there is no good and bad, only your alignment and your god!"

Tay punched out with one of his gauntlets and the Drow visciously slapped it away with the flat of the underblade, scorching Tay's skin under that gauntlet.

"Answer me properly" yelled the Drow. "Why come here, for what purpose?"

"Many elves will die if I do nothing!"

All the Drow laughed.

"You go to save people that would kill you on sight, would butcher you for who and what you are!" said the Drow, eyes locked on Tay's. "Fool...you should use your...talents wisely, there will be no reward, for your "good" deeds and you will wander the world alone!!!!"

Tay then drew back his arms and threw them fowards, a bubble of gravitic enrgy heading for Kelafein. Kelafein suddeny shot to the floor. tay then floated down to the ground and smashed both his gauntlets into the mud, the rocks and grass werer lifted out in a straight line, heading towards Kelafein, who was suddenyl thrown up into the air.

This time Kelafein reacted and used a levitation spell to keep himself there. Then he let it go and jumped to the ground, He noticed how teh half-Drow always sucked in his breath when he was about ot use the gauntlets. Relaising that they msut require a lot of strength to sue, Kelafein waited until Tay sucked in his breat; and then dived to the side. The gravitic enrgy jsut missed him.

Kelafein bounded towards Tay, hacking and slashing at him. The half-Drow stood his ground and spun his gauntlets, deflecting blows ehre and there, then punching fowards with one he cuaght the Drow in the chest. It was painful, but nescessary, thought kelafein as hew as lifted int o the air, using leiatation, he passed over the Half-Drow and cut into hs right wing, tearing through sinew and flesh.

Tay collapsed onto the ground, and the legendary executioner prepared to finsih him, with both baldes about to stab into his heart, when Tay summoned up the reserve of his stength and fired a wave of energy at Kelafein lifting him away.

The Raiders watching were surprised at teh half-drow's strength and resilience, but they knew Kelafein as elgendary in battle and it would be ahrd for the Half-Drow to win.

Behind a pile of corpses, kelafein lifted his bruised body up and wiped his blades clean. he reckoned he had found a weakness which was good, however he was now wary of the gauntlets which seemed to distort gravity. Making it easy for his foe to surprise him.

"I won't let that happen again" thought kelafein, approaching the battle once again...

Re: Battlefield (Hyrulian Hero)

Tay smiled grimly as Kelafein stepped back out from behind the miniature, morbid, hill of charred bodies. He raised his right fist tauntingly, the middle blade slowly rising in an obscene gesture. Drow faces because flushed at the insult to their leader, Kelafein included. The drow warrior stalked forward in a rage, his blades crossed at his waist. That was all Tay needed. Darkness engulfed the two once again, Tay immediately chanting quietly under his breath. His voice rising as he completed the spell, the half-drow threw forth his left hand, thick, strong strands of white webbing flying from it rapidly. He couldn’t see his enemy within the globe of darkness, but he didn’t need to.

At the first sign of resistance, Tay pulled back on the webbing, the wide-cast net closing in on the point of contact. Metal-like strands wrapped around Kelafein, pinning the drow’s arms against his chest. Digging both feet into the soft earth, Tay wrapped the web around his fist and yanked as hard as he could, the trapped raider flying towards him. The half-drow brought his right fist across at head-height, but his adamantine claws passed only through air, Kelafein wisely throwing himself to the ground as he was pulled forward.

Undaunted, Tay pulled on the rope of webbing again, slinging his foe against a pile of corpses. Reversing his momentum, the half-vampire slung the drow raider around the opposite way and into a group of fellow raiders who had edged too close to the globe of darkness. With a final, growling heave, Tay whipped the rope of web over his head, sending Kelafein soaring over him in an arc. An arc which ended with the drow crashing into the same pile of corpses. Releasing the web robe, Tay summoned the powers of his dark heritage, instantly rising into the air above the black globe. Chanting, the drow weaved his fingers through intricate patterns.

While his spell-summoned web could not be cut with any normal weapons, Tay was well aware that all drow—Kelafein included—were possessed of far from normal weapons. The raider would free himself soon, and Tay would have to be ready. The half-drow’s chanting paused, the globe below him disappearing. Kelafein stood ready below him, small strands of white webbing still dangling from his armor. Tay spat the final word of his spell, spitting it out as if it were acid. Instantly, a gray liquid boiled up from the ground, mere inches from Kelafein. The liquid hardened as it took shape, forming a massive arachnid easily as large as Tay and Kelafein put together.

The spider didn’t even need a command from its master; scuttling forward to snap its deadly mandibles at the drow raider before it. Reaching up, Tay pulled his bow from over his shoulder, fitting an arrow to it and taking aim of the darting figure below. Even wounded as he was, Kelafein could still defeat the giant arachnid. However, a continuous rain of arrows from overhead might make things more difficult. That was what Tay was hoping, anyways.
