The Forest of Whispers(anyone, any amount)

OoC: Aight guys, anyone can join. I'll be using my newest character, Xakk. Link in sig. The first two paragraphs describe the setting.

BiC: The name of this dark wood is correct. It is as if the trees whisper as you pass them. Many have traveled into this forest. Not many have lived to tell about it. It is said that a cave that links this realm to another lies waiting for some adventurer ready to find it. Not much grows here, accept trees, moss, and strange beasts.

The beasts have yet to be told about. Traders have said they have heard strange screams coming from this forest as the pass by. People say these are the souls lost in this dark place, eternally stuck between life and the afterlife. Some of seem shadows scamper into the woods, and some have seem yellowish eyes in the trees stare at them as they go by. But only the bravest, or the most foolish, travel in here.


Xakk walked along the path of the woods, which was almost completely covered by ivy and underbrush. Every now and then, he would hear the bushes shake, or see a shadow watch him, then disapear back into the darkness. He held his two guns tightly, not knowing what was there. His eyes darted back and forth, just waiting for something to pounce out of the shadows and kill him. He finally set his eyes back onto the trail he walked, and continued on.

He was looking for the cave. The realm, he believed, was a way back to his time. A shadow passed darted across from once side of the path to another. He tried to aim at it, but it went to fast. He saw and heard a bush rustle next to him. "Show yourself!" Xakk demanded. A black shadow jumped out of the bushes and pounced on him. Xakk jumped away, and aimed his guns at his attacker.

(OoC: I guess I'll join. Using Awaineko and Myouneko. Sorry if I get something wrong.)

Bic:

As Xakk aimed for the figure infront of him, another landed lightly on his shoulder. It was enough to distract him as the first lept away. He managed to catch a glimpse of the second, white clothing where as the first wore black. "Show yourselves!" he yelled out into the brush, staying alert for another attack. A twin giggle was all the response he got, but it was enough to make him pause. They sounded, feminine. And Human. A rustle behind him got him attention. He turned in time to see two cat-like tails, one white and one black, dissappear into the foliage.

Hey sister. What should we do to him now? Try and scare him again? Asked Myouneko telepathically. She was sitting high above Xakk next to her sister.

Yes, but make sure you're armor is ready. He's carrying guns, Replied Awaineko in the same manner. A ball of light appeared in her right hand. I'll give the distraction, you behind him and jump again. I'll land in front and jump away as you land. The two made a silent countdown and once it hit one, Awaineko dropped the ball just behind the Gunner. It exploded on contact with the ground, knocking him sideways a bit, but not much else. Now, he should be getting up off the ground about now, Awaineko thought to herself as she landed infront of him just to see him standing with his guns pointed. Her Armor of Light covered her just seconds before he fired four rounds at her. They made contact with her armor and bounced off harmlessly while they're force hit her hard enough to knock her back onto the ground. He made ready to fire again when he saw the white shadow was a White dressed Neko-girl.

"Stop!" Came another voice from behind him. He turned and dodged left in time to see a ball of Dark energy fly toward where he stood like an arrow and blow a crator in the earth. Next to the White dressed Neko, a black dressed Neko landed that was the first one's mirror almost. "Don't hurt my sister! We were only having fun!" She yelled to him as Awaineko stood up and dropped her Armor spell while brushing the dirt off her white dress. Myouneko looked a bit angry while Awaineko seemed a bit shaken.

OoC: Guess I could have fun with this. Zorlo, link in sig.

BiC: The fencer walked silently through the forest, very lost again. Dammit, he groaned inwardly, I'm so lost. That kid told me this map was a map to this forest, but I haven't seen any of the landmarks on this map yet. Not one! I think I've been conned, he suddenly realized as he stopped and threw the map on the ground. "Are you serious?!" He screamed quickly, not really all that loud. Suddenly, something entered his ears, something that was oddly familiar and drawing. The fencer moved towards the sound with all speed.

Suddenly, the green attired man stopped and ducked behind a bush when he saw a man with two guns fighting two others in the woods, moving about silently and striking with an oddly familiar grace and speed. Something familiar about that movement style, but I don't quite know what it is, he told himself as he watched the attacks. Suddenly a powerful burst of energy came towards him and he dodged quickly to the left avoiding what would have been a most painful experience. He looked at the crater next to him from where he lay on the ground, still hidden by shrubbery. Suddenly, the fencer heard the ring of gun fire, four shots to be exact, and he pushed his way between the bushes to see what had happened. He saw a white haired neko, and landing next to her was a black haired neko, the two appeared to be twins. The swordsman watched as the two Nekos faced down the gun armed man, but could not see their faces. He decided it was best if he step in and learn what was going on before he did anything stupid.

As he rose to his feet, he stepped over the bush and stood behind the Neko twins. "Well, well, well," he began as he placed his hands on their shoulders. "A pair of twin Nekos', this is something you don't see everyday. You two should know better then to cause mischief, especially not with a person with a gun." The fencer moved around the two girls and moved towards the gun slinger. "I'd be more careful with those if I were you. Making loud noises attracts wild animals, and from what I hear, the creatures here are rather dangerous. Oh, and by the way, I am Zorlo, fencer of Tasogare, and it is good to meet all three of you," he said as he bowed towards the ladies.

OoC: Yay, some people to party with.

BiC: Xakk relaxed his arms and looked at the two Nekos. The one in white looked a bit scared, while the one in black looked angry. He then looked at Zorlo and scanned him. Zorlo just looked at him. "What are you doing in these woods?" He said, glaring at each and every one of them. They Neko in black opened her mouth to speak, but Xakk cut her off. "Nevermind. I dont care." He continued walking this path, pushing the aside as he went forward. All of a sudden, they heard a howl. It sounded like a grunt, mixed with an ear-piercing shriek.

He paused. "Run." He said, pointing his guns at the air. He started firing his guns at the trees. A thing fell out of the large, bushy leaves. A closer look revealed that it was kind of a cross between a monkey and a bear. "Run!" He shouted a little louder. "Run, you idiots!" All of a sudden, the trees started shaking. Not just the tree that the creature had fallen from, but all the trees around them. Then they stopped. The Neko in white began to speak, "What was--" She didn't get too finish. About 50 of the creatures plopped out of the trees around them. For a minute, they layed there, like they were dead. But then, one sat up. Then another. Then another. Then more. Then all of them.

The creatures then stood up. Claws retracted from their bony fingers. They all looked at the people who had entered their territory with a bizzare, starving-looking look. The they sprang into the air and pounced. "RUN!" screamed Xakk, but it was too late. They were sourrounded.

((Oh, what the heck. I could use a good roleplay on this site.)) Selene blinked her large azure orbs as she watched the poor beings down below. She considered it was sad enough that they didn't know their way through the dark woods, but getting surrounded by this dull lot? Pathetic, really. Oh well. She might as well offer her help. They didn't look all that dangerous, anyway. Two nekos...a man with at least one gun...and a rather handsome fencer. Well, at least it was interesting company. She had not seen anyone live long enough to reach where she dwelled in solitude.

"Pardon me down there!" she called, her voice still and lovely as a bell ringing. "You wouldn't need any help, would you?" Her wings remained hidden within her large, flowing white dress, but it was no doubt they would wonder how she got so high up in that tree without any help. Her tight boots clacked against the tree as she reclined in a relaxed position, in no mood for rude people this time of night. "Do you know how late it is? Some of us are trying to sleep." She mentally chuckled at her own cocky joke. Even though she was a heavenly being, it did not mean she couldn't have some fun every once in a while.

OoC: Cool, another person. You know what they say, the more the merrier. I guess.

BiC: This voice startled Xakk. It was soft and gentle, but he still didn't know who and what the voice belonged to. He turned and aimed his guns up at the figure in the tree. She stared at him, not startled. All of a sudden, he could sense what she was. He nodded at her, and turned back to the creatures. "Any idea of what these are?" he asked all of them as he looked at them. They were all different colors, ranging from grey, to red, to brown, to a dark yellow, and even blue. "Their names are Mangegrills. They are quite ferocious, but when sleeping, they're pretty cute." She smiled at him.

"Are they dangerous?" he asked, hoping they weren't. "Of course they are. They can rip all the flesh from a cows bones in under two minutes. They're a bit like pirahnas, but more... well, lets say, blood thirsty." The women said. Thats not very good, thought Xakk. "Well, care to help?" Xakk asked. He looked at the others. It looked like they were asking the same things in their minds. "Sure," she said, "theres always more of them." She jumped down from the branch, and landed next to them.

OoC: Fun.

Upon hearing the voice, the fencer turned to where its origin was and saw before him a most beautiful woman. His eyes widened slightly as she explained what they were up against, although he was to awestruck to do anything at the second. After hearing what these creatures could do, he snapped back into reality, but that didn't completely stop his mind from wandering. The fencer drew his sword and looked around at his allies. They all seemed to be both capable and interesting to say the least, and the fencer could almost tell that they would prove most powerful and unique.

His gaze fell upon the Neko twins, one dressed in white, the other in black and took full gauge of what he had learned about them from watching their exploit with the gunner. They both seemed to lack physical strength, but when it came down to magic, he had seen a crater form from one of their attacks. The armor the other had produced was equally impressive to the fencer when he had seen it deflect bullets. The two of them must be some kind of mages, I know that they can hold their own against these creatures if we shield them from to most of the physical harm, the young swordsman told himself as he glanced over to the gunner.

The gunner had done little to impress the fencer. He was loud, somewhat annoying, rather pushy and for the greater part, a cowards, but such first impressions would surely be wrong, the youth hoped. No man is stupid enough to not carry around a close range weapon, especially for foes such as these, the youth told himself as he did his best to not look away from the strange monsters that had struck.

The fencer could not help but turn to the beautiful angel that was above them. Her beauty astounded him as he gawked at her. Her very appearance had filled him with an urge to both fight and prove himself, but he could not explain why. Holding his sword tightly, he quickly uttered the words, "Are we to stand around all day, or are we going to fight!" Quickly, and perhaps foolishly, he charged at the creatures and thrust his sword through the head of one, felling it easily. He pulled his blade back and recalled just how many there were of these creatures. This is either going to be really hard, or really annoying, he told himself as he readied to fight off the flock of the monstrosities.

Xakk looked at the fencer. He then looked back at the enemies. Although they were small, they looked far from defenseless. He put away his guns and drew his sword so he would not draw more attention from any wild beasts. "Whatever. Lets do this." He help his sword in front of him and gave a glare. If it was to you, it would seem rather chilling, and make you feel uncomfortable. The creatures grunted an almost silent word. It was not in any form of language Xakk had ever heard. All of a sudden, he jumped into the air and froze there. For a moment, it seemed as though white, flowing wings appeared behind him as he floated there. Then he crashed down to the ground, knocking away some of the animals with the force of the landing, and then swiping a smooth slice through the air.

For a moment it seemed as the creatures just stood still. Then they fell dead to the viny, dense grass. It seemed as though a small vine hooked on to some of a creature's remains and dragged it into the bushes. Xakk threw a swift kick at the creatures and knocked one over. He stabbed it in the stomache, and it uttered a squeal that sounded unearthly. Xakk brought his blade out of the creature's stomache, and looked at how the others were doing. They seemed good enough, attacking and killing some of the other creatures. Some words echoed in his mind: Your goal is near. Hearing these, he began fighting the small creatures mercilessly. It's near, he thought.

Awaineko and Myouneko dodged back to stand near the center of the group of Fighters. Everyone seemed to be doing well enough considering the number of monsters attacking them. Myouneko's Black Aird were circling the twins and firing beams into the Mangegrills as they approached while Awaineko began casting Light boost on Xakk, Zorlo, and Selene to help them kill faster and easier. They don't like your dark energy much, sister. They also dislike my light energy much. I think we should use it. Take out several of them, came Awaineko's thought. They only looked at each other before stepping close enough to touch while extending one hand forward toward a group of the creatures.

"Twin attack! Twilight Cannon!" They called out together. A Ball of light and dark energy gathered at their hands until it was roughly twice the size of a bowlingball. A second passed before they fired the ball into a group of Mangegrills off to the side of Zorlo, obliterating them in a deadly explosion of power that knocked Zorlo off his feet. When he stood back her noticed two things. One, he was unharmed and two, he had turned completely black and white. When he looked back at the twins he found them smiling. "We're not going to just," "Throw magic around without making," "Sure not to hurt those we want to help. Behind," "You Zorlo." He turned back to stop a Mangegrill from slashing his back open as the Armor of Twilight dissolved off him. Awaineko was forming a ball of energy when a rustle from above startled her. A Mangegrill was jumping down from above when Myouneko stepped to it. "Beast," "Blast!" The sisters called out as Myouneko blew the Mangegrill away and Awaineko followed-up, killing it.

The two stood back-to-back as they looked around themselves. Their group was thinning out the numbers, but it was taking to long and people would soon be getting fatiqued and weak. It was time to begin supporting the group. "Zorlo!" Myouneko called. Her finished off his creature before turning to them. They both motioned him over before Myouneko formed a dark energy sword and launched it at a Mangegrill, impaling it. The moment her got close to them they looked at him at the same time. "We want to begin help the group."

And we want to know if you'll protect us as we do this," Awaineko asked as she quickly looked around for anything getting close to them. "Will you?"

"Don't worry. I promise I'll protect you for the time being," The fencer replied as he scanned the immediate area and stopped a creature from getting close to the Sorceress sisters. Joining hands, they begun. First forming their collective energy pool between themselves before beginning their individual roles. Awaineko began supplying energy to Xakk, Selene, and Zorlo to keep them from becoming tired while Myouneko stole as much energy as she could from the Mangegrills to keep the twin's "well" from going dry.

This should help reduce these Mangegrills numbers, thought Awaineko. Her Sister was having much the same thought. "If you need to be healed, yell out. We'll support you!" Awaineko and Myouneko proclaimed together loud enough to be heard by everyone. Zorlo continued to do his best to protect the siblings as he zipped around blocking Mangegrills from getting close.

OoC: Ohh, I'm in!! I'm using Emir my first BA char. Link in siggy. Weapons: Polearm, blade, and bow Armour: Dark Crystal! Hope I do this right!!

BiC: Emir walked in this strange forest. It was dark and damp. It also had the smell of dying trees and bushes. She then heard fighting. Why would people be fighting in such a dark forest? She took out her polearm and ran foward. She then saw the silhouette of a person she thought was familiar. As she ran foward, she saw more people. They were fighting. But what are they fighting??

"Who goes there?" yelled a man with black hair holding a sword.

"I heard fighting so I came to see what the trouble was. Yet I see nothing but a bunch of males just standing around pointing swords and guns. And a girl, who seems like no human. I see that . . . . . their everywhere" She replied

Then she saw it, two females in the center. She could feel waves of light and dark energy flowing from them. She redied her polearm again.

"You two girls there, your not ordinary either!"

OoC: If it's not too late, I believe I will be joining in this. Will, profile in sig.

BiC: Will and Dan moved slowly and calmly through the darkness choked forest. This "Forest of Whispers" was said to be filled with all kinds of strange and deadly creatures. Will figured he didn't need to worry about anything, as he WAS a strange and deadly creature, the lack of light had transformed him into his semi-lycan form. He figured that there wouldn't be that many things in the forest willing to mess with him. Dan and Will's ears perked up as they heard the far off sounds of fighting. Will was intrigued, he didn't figure on encountering anyone in these dark and desolate woods, let alone people who made their locations obvious. The curiosity of what was going on between the people in the distance was overpowering, and he figured a little bit of spying wouldn't hurt. He headed off towards the commotion, Dan following along eagerly.

Upon finding creators of the noise he hid himself in some nearby bushes. Dan understood the need for stealth, and crept slowly up next to Will, ready to run or fight in an instant. Will sized up the odd party. Three humans, two nekos, and what appeared to be an angel. Will grinned. This could be an ineresting situation, but he wouldn't act now... he would wait and watch...

The fencer's enchanted sword was easily felling his most feeble foes, even with the numbers the held, there was little or no way they could handle the level of skill the fencer had. His speed and skill easily took them down as the two mage sister's healed their allies and drained their foes, smiling as they did it. The fencer was moving fast around the two, protecting them as the creatures tried to take a piece from the twins. Suddenly, the fencer heard the words, "I heard fighting so I came to see what the trouble was. Yet I see nothing but a bunch of males just standing around pointing swords and guns. And a girl, who seems like no human. I see that . . . . . their everywhere," the voice of a woman rang in the fencer's ears. The thing was, this voice was familiar. He turned, but was forced to turn back as he felled another of the most annoying creatures. The next words from the voice rang out, "You two girls there, your not ordinary either!" The woman was talking about the Neko sisters, and the fencer couldn't help but turn, and he saw before him the first familiar face of the day.

"Emir?!" He said as he saw the woman dressed in black armor with a strange weapon.

"Zorlo?!" She retorted as she looked at him.

"Um... Hi," he managed as he struck down another of the strange creatures attacking the twins. "Use that weapon of yours and help us wipe these things out, we could use all the help we can gain." The young green haired man quickly jumped to the side and cut down one more foe, but suddenly, it seemed that all of the foes were fading. Few of them stood, and they were still attacking. The fencer almost knew this fight was won, but he would wait to see.

OoC: Yay. Wait, why do I keep making OoCs saying stuff like, "Yay."? Maybe it's something I ate...

BiC: Xakk looked at the creatures as he made long, hard swipes with his sword. Their numbers were diminishing. The fights almost over, he thought. He continued to strike the small creatures, as his allies did other things. "Emir?!" he heard Zorlo say. "Zorlo?!" he heard a voice call out in reply. He would need to have a look at this Emir character. He would do this after the fight. He continued slashing and as he looked at his allies, it seemed there were only a couple of these creatures left. This is too easy, Xakk thought. Of course, we have the help of these Nekos, but it seems it would still be easy without their spells, he thought. "Wait a minute..." he whispered to himself. "These things... are supposed to have--" Too late. A long, angry sounding growl echoed through the thick woods as the last creature fell.

"A much larger leader." he finished, as a loud thud sound came from in front of the adventurers. The bushes and leaves shaked as the thud sounded. A very loud roar echoed from in front of them. A nine foot tall version of the creatures they had just felled bounded towards them. It carried a large branch from a fallen tree with a very sharp bone stuck through it. It swung its very large weapon at them, and Xakk backflipped away. He didn't know what happened to the others, as he was surprised by the largeness of the creature. It had many scars, and it's fur was rougher than the coats of its followers. It was missing patches of fur here and there, and didn't look too happy. "This will probably be hard," Xakk muttered to himself as he charged at the enemy with his katana.

When the Mangegrill Alpha swung, The twins lept straight up into the treetops to avoid the weapon. The creature definately looked formidable and it's hide wouldn't be easy to pierce from the look of the scars the Mangegrill Alpha carried. "Be careful! It's skin is tough and won't cut easily. Use piercing attacks for maximum effect!" Awaineko called out to the rest of the group. The Mangegrill Alpha looked up in her direction and swung its makeshift weapon into the trees, bringing down several branches as the sister's lept to the ground near Selene. Each fired a ball of energy at the Mangegrill Alpha only to have it swing and hit them with the branch, blocking itself and destroying the weapon. This only seemed to anger the creature as it grabbed another branch and charged, swinging wildly. Selene run to the side as both Nekos lept up and behind the Mangegrill Alpha.

"It's faster then the other ones. And it only has two thoughts in its head. Kill and food," Said Myouneko on landing. Zorlo was already running to attack the creature while the other began their own personal plans. Myouneko used her Dark Break to slow the beast while Awaineko sped up everyone once more with her Light Boost now that it was wearing off. Awaineko. Did you pick that up?

Yes, I got it too. Someone else is watching us. Someone dangerous.

Should we do something?

Not yet. We can't afford to abandon the others now. We can warn him that we know, Awaineko responded back to her sister telepathically. The both of them looked back to stare directly at Will's position. "We know your there," Is the only thing they said before turning back to the Mangegrill Alpha to start fighting and supporting.

We know you're there...

That's what they had said. Will grimaced, leave it to the cats to figure out where he was.They most likely only knew where he was, not what he was or what his intentions were. He debated on changing positions or remaining where he was. He did not want to seem hostile or skittish, so he decided to remain where he was.

You may know I'm here, but you have no idea what I am going to do...

OoC: Yea, my turn!!

BiC: Emir used her polearm and stabbed the giant Mangegrill Alpha. But it had little effect. Its just too huge, how are we supposed to kill this thing! She jumped back, and pulled her polearm back, readying it for a throw. Everyone around her was fighting the beast and she couldn't get a clear shot. There! She had a clear shot and threw. It hit its mark. Right on the thigh, making the monster fall down. She pulled out her bow and aimed for the giant beasts eye. Lets see it survive this attack! She shot her bow but the monster raised a massive claw and caught the arrow before it struck. What a minute, those scars. If we reopen those scars, it should weaken it.

"Hey guys, aim for its scars. If we reopen them, it should weaken the beast!!"

Emir readied 3 arrows,lets see it catch 3 arrows!

Alright, Xakk thought. Aim for the scars. He pulled out one of his guns. Now he had a sword and a gun out. He charged at the beast and slashed a scar. It flinched, and then turned to hime, swinging the large branch. He jumped into the air and flipped to the other side of the creature. He then stuck his gun in the scar he had cut open and shot. The sound was supressed by the creature's flesh, and it seemed pretty effective. The creature gave a yelp and held its leg. It then looked at Xakk. It was infuriated. It swung down its club in front of Xakk, making him trip to the ground. As it was about to crush him, Selene jumped in front of it and held out her sword to stop the blow. As she did this, Xakk rolled out of the way. She stopped holding the creature back and jumped away. It slammed down his club and missed. "Thanks." Xakk said, and Selene nodded.

As the large Mangegrill missed, Zorlo thrusted his sword into one of the old scars. The creature roared in pain, as Zorlo's sword stabbed entirely through its leg. Its pupils turned small, and a couple tears fell from its eyes. Zorlo pulled the sword out, making even more pain for the Mangegrill.

Selene was joyful that they had finally figured out what to do. "So! You all figured it out! Finally!" she shouted, not paying much attention to the newcomers. She just wanted to keep them safe, if she could. She also felt slightly irked that she had not known the alpha's weakness, especially since she had lived here so long. She closed her eyes and let a hand rest on her feathered wings which remained strapped to her back, twirling the large silver sword which sparkled in the moonlight in the other hand.

"Angel's fury!" she shouted; she launched into the air with a flowing grace before coming down on the stunned Mangegrill, the one Zorlo had just practically mutiliated. A bit of blood fell upon her milky white skin, marring it. She made a partial effort to wipe it away, staining her gloves in the method. It shuddered for a moment, but merely growled and swiped at her. "Even wicked creatures do not deserve to die...like this." Her large eyes pierced into his face before she leaped away. She stopped near Zorlo, who turned to face her for a split second.

"And I thought this was going to be easy." He remarked as he scanned the movements of the monster.

"Well, it usually is. Most of the time they are not this agressive. Unless...someone is looking for something, like the treasure of the forest." Oh, she knew about the treasure. That was the reason most of the men wandered here, to satisfy their lust for riches. Well, that was greed. That was why they died. Yes, she knew of the treasure, she had even seen it. Indeed, she had appointed herself as "the guardian" of the treasure.

"The treasure of the forest, Huh. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the seeker would be you," Awaineko said, pointing to Xakk.

"It would also explain why nothing bothered us before we found you," Myouneko continued looking toward the Gunner. "So, are you going to tell us what this treasure is?"

"Or should we be asking you, Miss?" Awaineko asked as the Neko twins backed away from the monster to stand near her. After all, you seem to know more than you're telling us."

"Of course I do. I know far more then I've said. And the Name is Selene," The fallen angel replied in a matter-of-fact tone. Awaineko nodded once in thanks.

We're the sisters Awaineko and," "Myouneko. Neko twins with more," "Allegiance to the forest then to Humans," the sisters spoke in tandem once more. Niether looked happy. "Especially when it comes to," "Greedy ones that would rob the," "Forests of its treasure." Xakk seemed uncomfortable with both Nekos piercing him with their twin gaze. Meanwhile, the Mangegrill Alpha seem weary to come close at the moment.

What do you mean more allegiance to the forest then to Humans?" Zorlo asked, keeping an eye on the Mangegrill Alpha.

"If we had to pick between harming the forest and harming," "A Human, we'd pick the human," They replied. "So are you the cause of this, Gunner?"

"Or are you going to refuse to tell us and try to continue against the Mangegrill?" Myouneko crossed her arms.

"It would also be nice if you're willing to tell us more about this treasure, Selene," Awaineko said, turning to the young woman.

Xakk broke away from the Nekos' gazes. He looked at everyone. They were all staring at him. "Well," Xakk spoke, twirling his gun around his finger as he said this, "I'm not after money. I'm after revenge. It's a long story, so I might tell you later. Anyway, I heard this so called 'treasure' was a portal. That's what I'm searching for."
