Fading Illumination (Icy angel)

OoC: Hope this is good

BiC: Lance walked along a dull, seemingly endless trail. Had he known where it was going he may've perhaps branched off of it and walked somewhere else, but today was not a day for fortune telling. Or in this case, not the night for fortune telling.

It was midnight. All was black, and the only source of light radiated from one thing- the moon. It was like an eternal guardian, watching over the earth while the sun took care of another place. It beamed at him, and it's "face" seemed to follow him, watching to see if he was safe. Lance always loved the moon. It made him wonder just by looking at it. Tonight was no exception.

As Lances shoes padded softly against the dirt path, his eyes were affixed to the moon. They both smiled at each other serenely. Lance was just glad that no one was there to see him looking foolishly up at the moon....

Lance saw a small hill situated directly in front of him. He ran up it and looked over the scenery below him, even though it was not easy to see because of the darkness. What he did see, though, was a large circular plain that had a few trees scattered here and there among the many bushes and clumps of grass that grew unevenly around them. Something caught his eye amongst one of the bushes and Lance narrowed his eyes to get a better look, but I had vanished. Lance proceeded forward and almost skipped down the hill until he reached the thing he had been looking for.

Lance figuratively leapt into the bush to see what was inside, but he still remained his (somewhat) normal image by reaching his hand into the bush and pulling out what he had seen before- a pendant. It was rather small, but it looked like it was worth something. Lance wasn’t thinking about it's worth, however. More than anything he was contemplating what magical uses it might have. He was just about to cast a spell on it to prove that theory, when he remembered something. The light mage reached into a pocket and brought out another pendant- it was almost identical apart from the gem that was set in it. It was almost the same except for the fact that it was blue, and the gem was a sapphire, whilst the other one was green and held an emerald firmly in place. Lance finally came to the conclusion that they were made by the same person and held them together, readying himself for a magical fusion of some kind.

Nothing happened. Lance pocketed both of the pendants in resignation.

there must be another piece to the puzzle... he thought.

Lance yawned and sat down. He opened his bag that was hanging off his shoulders and brought out a soft blanket, prepared to make his bed. That's exactly what he would've done, had he not heard something behind him. He immediately pulled out his staff from its hiding place and held it out, ready to strike.

"Who goes there?"

OoC: It might be a bit short, but I'd thought we may as well get straight to the point.

Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)

The assassin watched the man walk along the path, a look of mild amusement on his hidden mouth. People rarely walked this path at night, for the sole reason that Ethan had taken to killing those who would dare try to interrupt the peace and quiet that lingered in the solitary area when the moon was up. But the smiled wiped itself from its face instantly as the man looked up. Keeping as still as he could, the assassin prepared to strike with Havoc, his hand already reaching for the hilt of the blade. The man didn’t do anything, but just kept on walking, his gaze still fixed on one spot.

Why does he not draw his weapon? Ethan thought to himself. Then the thought hit him, and the ninja looked upwards. Hung in the sky was a full moon, its rays casting a pale glow over the landscape. Had it not been for the various leafy branches above him, Ethan would have been in plain sight. Sighing that he would not have to get confrontational and that an easy kill would soon follow, the assassin kept his gaze fixed on the man as he passed his tree and walked up the small hill, his back to Ethan. Resisting the urge to throw a kunai into the man’s head, the ninja decided to get further ahead so that he would be able to attack the man’s front as he was walking down the other side of the hill. Dislodging himself from his branch, he began to jump from tree to tree, his feet barely resting on the bark before it was on another. A few seconds later the ninja landed, accidentally snapping a twig in the process. Sensing that the man was looking, Ethan dropped to the floor, his back facing the man. After a few moments of nothing the assassin slowly rolled over, careful not to make any noise. His target was once again on the move, and soon he would have to go into a confrontational attack. Climbing the nearest as fast as he could, Ethan pulled a poison tipped kunai from his belt. Until recently these weapons hadn’t been part of his arsenal, but full frontal attacks had been harder to carry out without damaging the environment. Keeping his body pressed to the tree, Ethan watched as the man neared. Slipping the kunai till it was nearly out of his hand, the assassin counted in his head, knowing that as soon as the man passed through the bush he had just leapt into he would feel the small blade enter his neck, killing him in less than two seconds.

3…2…1…Ethan counted, and threw the kunai. But the ninja had thrown it too early, since the man was still stood in the bush, studying a small shiny object. The kunai whistled passed the man, embedding itself in the ground. Grunting at his misfortune, Ethan decided that this man deserved a death at the hands of Havoc, but he would first want to see what he was capable of. Watching from his tree, the assassin watched in boredom as the man tried something with two shiny objects, and then he pulled a blanket from a bag hung on his shoulders. His impatience testing its limits, Ethan dropped from the tree, intent on getting a better spot to watch from. Unfortunately he landed on the very same twig that he had snapped before, making it snap again. Cursing his luck, Ethan watched as the man looked directly at him, though he couldn’t see him on the account of the darkness.

“Who goes there?” the man shouted nervously, holding what looked like a staff out in front of him. Standing completely still, the assassin would be invisible unless the man drew closer.

If I move now he sees me, if I don’t he might investigate. Decisions decisions…

Taking the latter course would have been the better choice, but the hunt of the man had pumped the assassin full of adrenaline, and he was now urging for a fight. Slowly drawing Havoc, Ethan watched as the man saw the blood red blade appear as if out of nothing, and then reformed the blade, letting Faros’s spirit take control, turning the blade black and hiding it once more. As soon as the blade turned Ethan felt his vision go, and felt it being replaced by the future sight. A small vision played out, where the man slowly walked forward into the blackness, and after a few moments a scream was emitted.

It would be better if this was the only path of future, for all I know I could have been the one who screamed… the assassin thought to himself, for the blade only showed one of the many choices that could happen. Deciding that he would be better off with his original vision, Ethan tapped himself on his wrist, the death crest instantly making all of his skin burn. Gritting his teeth at the pain that flared in every nerve, the assassin sighed as his normal vision returned. Once again the blade gleamed dark red, and the man caught sight of it. Slowly but surely he started to walk towards it, not knowing that Ethan was its master.

Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)

OoC: i wa shoping we could make this battle a bit mopre climactic, if you know what I mean. Let's push our characters to their peak And I'll put a bit of my own character development in there as well.

The mage peeked curiously at the place he had seen the red glow. He was positive that someone was following him. Lance could always tell with these kinds of things...After all, he was a pretty good magic-user for his age. The teenager narrowed his eyes and saw some kind of black leather, and then noticed that the person or thing that was following him wasn't exactly vigilant of that glowing sword of his. Pretending like he had seen nothing, Lance turned around and continued walking.

As he had expected, lance sensed a movement behind him. The thing was probably going to move in for the kill any moment...He was moving up behind him...

Thwack!

A hefty thud emanated from Lance's staff as it collided with the man's head. Luckily the mage had only decided to use the orb end, instead of the bladed one. Lance stood smugly over the dazed man's body.

"And that's what you get for following strangers".

And with that, Lance turned the other way and continued walking.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was sunrise. It was only a few hours since his encounter, but the effect if having little to no sleep had taken a heavy effect on the boy. He would've stopped to rest, but he was positive that the man he had hit earlier was after him, obviously after some kind of sick and horrible revenge. It had been easy to identify that the man was an assassin, which Lance had decided after seeing his black clothes and sword,
As the boy scaled another small hill he felt something at the edge of his mind. He was after him again. There would be no other solution- he would have to battle him. Sighing in resignation at the fact that Lance always seemed to find himself in these awquard situations, he ran to a small field located directly in front of him.
Surely enough, in a few minutes the man was visible from on top of the hill. He held his blade in one hand with a clenched fist, and Lance chuckled at the large bump he sported on his forehead. His chuckle turned to a groan as the man sped down the hill, sword raised.
Lance acted swiftly and unsheathed Mornama, quickly defending himself against a sword swipe from the attacker. Though his head was mainly covered in a bandana Lance could see an outraged look in his eyes that looked very angry.
Lance thrusted his staff forwards and blasted a wind spell right into his opponents body, pushing him back a few metres. Lance took this as an opportunity to send another spell right into his opponent’s face, this one a cloud of pure darkness that writhed around and obscured the assassin’s vision.
The man howled unexpectedly and the darkness vanished. He charged at lance and brutally hacked away at lance, eventually getting two good forceful hits into to Lance’s stomach and arm. Blood gushed out of his arm and stained his shirt, and the fist that had collided with Lance's stomach winded him temporarily, leaving him gasping for air.
Lance gaped and air flew back into his lungs, giving him strength again. The man in black swiped at lance again but the boy threw out his hand and conjured a glowing blue chain from midair, wrapping it around his opponent’s sword and tossing it away like it was a child's toy. The man gasped but remained his pose, ready to protect himself against an attack. However, he did not fare well against another chain that wrapped around his legs, sending him to the floor.
"How rude..."
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
The man neared the sword, but moments before Ethan could strike out he turned around, and began walking away.
Fine, die with a sword in your back! the assassin thought to himself. Creeping up, Ethan prepared to strike, aiming for the flesh in between the man’s shoulder blades. But moments before the blade sliced through, the man turned round, and with amazing speed and accuracy, brought a large purple orb into the side of Ethan’s head, knocking him out cold.
~
A vision played out in the ninja’s mind. He was home again, and he was a young boy. Linos roamed the woods, protecting Ethan’s village, sometimes giving rides to the young, like Ethan. His father and mother were stood in front of him, smiling happily at their son. His father did not say a word about training for his first mission, and his mother kept didn’t say anything about his skills and if he had practiced.
“You know that you will fall my brother, you sinful village have brought you your death.” A cruel voice rang out. In a flash the scene changed. Ethan was no longer a child, he was an adult again, having just returned from his first mission. The village was aflame, the ground was slick with the blood of human colossus. The assassin reached for Havoc, and found it wasn’t there.
“The assassin of my brother, you shall be the last to fall of your village.” A voice shouted, hurting Ethan’s eardrums. Turning round, the ninja found that it was the colossus Faros. Before Ethan could move the giant brought down a hand, which was aimed straight for the assassin.
~
Ethan woke with a start, a cold sweat running down his masked face. The man was gone, his trail stretching quite far.
If that orb can bring up memories like those, I will destroy the blasted thing! Ethan thought. Grabbing Havoc from where it had fallen, the ninja hunted round for anything he had missed, and departed, hot on the man’s trail.
An hour later, the ninja had surprisingly caught up with his target, who was slowly down. Waiting till the man had walked down the hill, Ethan advanced, checking the man’s tracks as he went.
He is dragging his feet without knowing it, he is tired and exhausted. I smell an easy kill… the ninja thought, rubbing his hand over the man’s footprints. Unsheathing Havoc once more, Ethan scaled the hill. Without thinking he walked into the open, revealing himself to the man, who was watching him from a field in front of him. Cursing under his breath at his stupidness, Ethan charged forward, hoping that he would be able to get to the man before he drew his weapon again. But the assassin had no such luck, and as Ethan struck out with Havoc the man swung out his own weapon in defense. Before Ethan could strike again the man stuck his staff straight into his stomach, and a blast of concentrated air struck him in the stomach, forcing him back. The spell was followed up with another, as a cloud of blackness collided with Ethan’s face. Smiling to himself, the ninja closed his eyes and let his other senses guide him, letting his training with shadow take hold. Suddenly a scream escaped from his mouth, dispersing the shadow in a matter of moments. Using one hand to wield Havoc, Ethan slashed out and punched the man. The man didn’t have time to react, and the blade sliced through his arm, crimson blood spurting out of the wound. The ninja’s fist connected with the man’s stomach, knocking the wind out of him. Smiling at the blows he inflicted, Ethan grabbed Havoc with both hands and swung again, aiming to part the man’s head from his shoulders. But moments before the sword struck the man stuck out a hand, and a glowing blue chain appeared, and wrapped itself round Havoc. The man jerked his hand, sending the sword flying out of Ethan’s hands. Jumping back, the assassin prepared to fight with his hands, but the man had other ideas as he wrapped another chain round his legs, tripping him over.
“How rude. You attack me once and I spared you, yet you still want to fight. Why?” the man said suddenly. Turning himself over, Ethan answered the man with a cold stare.
“Why don’t you answer me?” the man asked. Keeping his gaze fixed on the man to distract him, the assassin slowly reached down into the back of his trousers and pulled out the poison tipped kunai that he had retrieved from earlier. With lightning speed Ethan chucked the small blade. The man hardly had any time to react, and let go of the chain to dodge. But it was too little too late, and the kunai embedded itself in the man’s arm, instantly setting to work, the poison seeping into the man’s blood. The man grabbed the kunai as soon as it had embedded itself, and threw it back to where Ethan was, but found him gone. The ninja was already gone, Havoc taken back.
“Where are you assassin? I grow tired of you hiding games!” the man shouted. In a nearby tree Ethan watched the man, a newly found pendant hanging on the hilt of Havoc, a red ruby shining on it. The pendant had been laying on the grass next to Havoc, so the assassin had decided to keep it. Ready to attack once more, the ninja jumped down from his hiding place in the tree.
“Think yourself lucky, I do not usually talk to anyone, and you would be the first in a few years.” Ethan shouted, giving away his position.
Ooc: okay the poison won’t kill you… yet. I suggest that when you somehow get the last pendant from Ethan something cool happens, and something like the poison becomes part of your blood, unlocking a new ability or something. Have fun!
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Lance turned in the direction of the voice to see his opponent nestled in the boughs of a sturdy low-growing tree. Lance noticed something dangling off the edge of his blade. Lance stepped closer to the assassin, ready for any sudden movements. He looked closer at the thing on the end of the man's sword....
A pendant.
Lance was taken aback slightly. How did this guy get that pendant? It bore remarkable resemblances to the two pendants he had in his pocket. The man in the tree flicked the pendant up in the air and caught it, then wrapped it around his neck. The moonlight reflected off of it, crimson rays dazzling the ground close to it. The pendants in his pocket started to warm up- a sign that they wanted to be united with the other one. Lance ran swiftly towards the tree, smashing his staff right into the branch that the assassin was on. He quickly leapt out of the tree as the branch crashed to the ground. Lance spun around and ducked an overhead swing from the man. Lance retaliated with two more swiped from his staff, one of them hitting the man's hand. The man ran down to the plain below them and Lance followed.
There was plenty of room for Lance to cast spells; the young man twirled his staff and blasted from his staff an ethereal spectre of an airy person. Upon contact with the man it twirled around him, creating a miniature whirlwind. It spun him around multiple times before sending him to the ground. The man got up and sped towards Lance, an expression of anger visible in his eyes.
Staff clashed upon blade as the two went at it with all their fighting skills. Lance's techniques with the staff were enough to block most of the man's oncoming blade attacks. Lance needed that pendant- he could see it glowing brighter and brighter, and as it did so the man seemed to gain more power. The opponent brought his sword arm up and brought t straight down onto Lance’s staff. He held it up, but the force of the blow was far too powerful to resist, and Lance was tiring quickly by an unseen force. The blade forced Lance to the ground, his pendants falling out of his pocket. His opponent grinned and reached down for them.
"Ah..."
As soon as his hand hit the pendants he was blasted four feet backwards, his pendant detaching itself from his neck. The pendants flew into the air and swirled around each other, Radiating light of green, red and blue. A voice echoed clearly through Lance's mind.
"Three pendants of virtue..."
The teenager leapt to his feet and walked to the pendants and held out his hand, only to be pushed aside by the assassin who had recovered from his fall. He struck the ground with his hand and a tremor rippled under Lance’s feet, sending him slightly into the air and flipping him over before he landed on the ground with a thud.
The mage got up, readying him for another attack. The opponent was running towards him, and Lance gathered as much elemental magic s he could from the planes, coupled with light from the sun and muttered chants swiftly under his breath. The black dressed man leapt towards Lance’s fallen form and stab at it with his sword. Before it could reach Lances flesh, four orbs of energy zoomed towards the sword and deflected the attack, forcing a surge of elemental energy into his body.
Lance's opponent cried in agony as he felt a burning sensation joined with the feel of wind whipping against his skin, water blocking his air supply and earth brutally bashing his consciousness. A barrier of light gathered around Lance and he spun up gracefully, resuming his stance with the staff. He panted, and his opponent did the same. Lance forced some words out of his mouth.
"Tell me your name".
OoC: The poison is slowly going to work
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Ooc: Hold on, this battle started off at midnight, and then in the third post (your post), you say its sunset, which you then use for an attack in your most recent post. I think you meant to put sunrise.
Bic:
“Get bent.” The ninja replied, and swept his foot round in a circle from where he lay, knocking the man to the floor once more. Twirling Havoc in his hand, Ethan moved forward, revealing the speed that had come from the sword in the form of Tantos. Disappearing from the normal spectrum for a moment as he reached his maximum speed, the assassin reappeared behind his opponent.
“Your not the only one with magic tricks.” Ethan grunted, keeping his back to the man. Without waiting for the man to get back up, the ninja began to strike the ground again, making a rhythm and slowly increasing the speed of his punches. Waves of earth originated from Ethan, soon bigger than trees, destroying the surrounding area within a few moments, and sending the man flying into the air every time a wave passed under him. Exhausted, Ethan slowed and stopped his attack, his fists red raw. His opponent was laid quite far away, obviously trying to recover from the attack. Taking a minute to catch his breath, he changed the blade back into its blood red form.
“Don’t ask for mercy, for I rarely give it.” The ninja shouted, slowly walking over to his adversary. But before he could end the fight with a quick fatal blow, the man rolled over and lashed out with another chain. Side stepping the attack, Ethan brought Havoc down on the chain, cutting it off. The distraction had given his adversary the chance to clamber to his feet. Striking out with his sword once more, Havoc clanged with his opponent’s weapon. Grunting, Ethan began to make a flurry of slashes, his adversary barely keeping up with them.
“It’s either the poison in your circulatory system slowly taking effect and shutting down your heartbeat, or just lousy at this.” Ethan said lazily. Though he didn’t like to admit, his opponent was steadily losing, cut adorned his hands and chest. Booting him in the chest, Ethan sent the man flying, laughing as he did.
“Your not a match for me in your condition, and soon enough you will be dead, whether or not I stab you with Havoc.” The assassin laughed, but stopped as his adversary rolled over, all three pendants in his hands.
Ooc: decide whether or not you want Ethan to stop you from joining them, or use them if you want.
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Lance did not hesitate in holding up the three pendants as the blade crashed down on them. The reaction was highly predictable; as the opponent struck the three relics a magnificent surge of power radiated from them, sending the assassin flying backwards. Lance jumped up and grasped his staff tightly with one hand, waiting for his opponent to recover.
Suddenly the pendants started to glow brightly. The glare intensified and Lance dropped them, shielding his eyes from them. They spun around and twirled before touching each other, and with a deep rumbling noise, they fused together. It was still circular, yet the colours were perfectly divided into thirds, creating an artefact of the combined power of the pendants. Lance felt refreshed by the magic coming from them and rushed forward to greet his enemy.
The black dressed man watched in surprise as Lance rushed forward and swiped at him, he was so quick that the man had no chance to defend and received a heavy bow to the stomach. Lance observed that he was winded and hit his opponent over the back with his staff, knocking him to the ground.
The man groaned and pushed himself to his feet, then rushed at Lance with his sword held high in the air. He scored a hit to lances arm, but Lance retaliated and did a heavy vertical swipe, hitting the blade partially out of the way and giving him time to use an incantation.
"Heya!"
Lance waved his staff and held out his hand, feeling the raw elemental power circulate within it. He released it and it headed straight for the man; he swiped at it with his sword, but it did nothing. The spirit form erupted on his clothes. Though lance only expected it to distract him with a small ember, he erupted in flames. Maybe the power came from the amulet.
The man roared and the flame seemed to calm down and fade away. Lance saw his eyes change, and he could tell he was grinning.
"Unwise...you've wasted all of your energy...the poison has almost overcome you..."
As he said Lance realised it. The poison was slowly shutting down his system, and he could do nothing about it. He swayed on the spot, and his vision started getting hazy.
But...I can't....need...time!
Darkness enveloped him and he saw his opponent cackling softly.
"A void of blackness. Everywhere there is only shadow, and no light to guide and all who that are lost have fallen. A million souls with a purpose...defeated. This one bears a guiding light."
"He holds the amulet..."
"The symbol of salvation. Tear of wisdom...power...and courage..."
"Poison of death in his veins..."
"Our blessings reach him. He shall illuminate. Not just here..."
"Everywhere..."
AWAKE!
Lances eyes shot open. He had no feeling of dizziness, and his energy had returned. He was no longer poisoned; but something else was in its place.
the power of sacrifice.
Lance's magic was stronger. He finally had the power to do it...To defeat an evil. But he would need utmost concentration, and never let his guard down.
Lance gripped his staff tighter, his knuckles turning white. He saw his enemy in the same position he was before. Lance felt the newly risen sun's light gathering onto him, and he erupted in light. Lance saw as His opponent stepped back, surprised at this new move. Lance ran forward to meet his enemy with a clash of steel upon blessed wood as they resumed their battle.
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Something about his opponent was different, that much Ethan could tell from a glance. His skill with his weapon was better, almost matching his own… almost. Focusing his power into Havoc, the ninja watched as the sword reformed itself, becoming thinner and longer, taking on a green color. Closing his eyes, he used his other senses to fight, his hearing warning him of every swing.
It took you long enough to summon me, my child. a voice said inside of Ethan’s mind. Ducking as the staff shot forward at his head, the assassin lashed out with Havoc, the blade cutting into his opponent’s side.
I was… delayed. I need your help, this one has skill that is not his own, he has help from another source. I want a spirit form again… Ethan replied. Opening his eyes, he ducked again as the man swung his weapon.
Very well, give me a few moments to gather our powers together… the voice answered. Giving silent thanks to the colossi, Ethan turned his attention back to his opponent. Without pausing, he began to lash out as fast as he could, slowly but surely forcing his opponent back.
“You will lose, it is only a matter of time!” the man shouted. Smiling at his taunt, the ninja shrugged and continued to attack.
We will begin, you must prepare for the pain… the voice said suddenly. Knowing what was about to happen, Ethan let up on his attack and jumped backwards, determined to let his opponent see what was about to happen.
“As carrier of the children of the gods, I do not fear pain or death. I willingly let the mark show, and embrace the power it gives.” The assassin shouted, watching as Havoc began to glow white. Before the man could try and attack, a grey mist enveloped the ninja. Falling to the floor, Ethan writhed in pain as the death crests blazed onto his skin, not noticing as he was lifted into the air by the mist. As the pain subsided, the mist began to form, eventually becoming a giant creature, a club in one hand and razor sharp fingers on the other. As the future sight kicked in, Ethan got a glimpse of the future, and smiled to himself.
“This should be interesting.”
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Lance watched mystified as a huge mist giant seeped out of the assasin's body. The monster stared down at Lance, and he could tell it had appeared to have a cup of tea.
A gargantuan fist landed right in front of Lance. The teenage mage gaped in horror, obviously aware that he did not have the strength to tackle such a powerful creature.
A mocking voice boomed out from above him, "The scales have tipped to my side, boy. All of your efforts are nothing."
The young staff-wielder dropped his staff to the ground. He was no fool; mist creatures and ghosts could often withstand physical attacks, but they left much to be desired when defending against magic. Hopefully the two adversaries would not be able to see what he had up his sleeve next.
Lance shut his eyes briefly, ignoring the creature stomping towards him. He crossed his arms over each other, then threw his hands into the air. He then gathered the energy he had just received and brought his palms together, feeling righteous fury flowing throughout his body. The mage grasped his newfound magic wthin his hand and released it through his right palm, wind whipping against him as he let go.
The result was (even to Lance) wonderful and frightening. An arc of pure heavenly magic descended from the skies and struck the beast. Once, twice and thrice it did so, and Lance heard a terrible groan of agony not to far away from him. Lance looked up and saw the man watching in confusion as the giant sunk to it's knees, slightly drained.
"I think the scales are equally weighed now."
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Ooc: Ethan is actually inside of the Colossus and is controlling it.
Bic:
Moving his spirit form up off its knees, Ethan lunged forward, hoping that his future sight would be correct. As the spirit moved forward, Lance dodged left, just as the ninja had expected. Changing the colossus’s movement at the last moment, Ethan moved the clawed hand over the mages body, the tips of the finger raking five deep cuts straight through Lance’s clothes and onto his skin.
“Power that comes from Tantos cannot be measured against.” Ethan shouted. But before the ninja could inflict anymore injuries, another arc of light struck the spirit colossi across its back, nearly penetrating the white mist. Yelling in pain as the death crests flared in pain, the assassin was greeted with another future sight. He was still inside of the colossi, but he was floating above the clouds. A few feet away was the mage, and behind him stood three figures cloaked in a golden light. Looking behind him, the ninja found that Linos, Tantos & Faros were stood behind him. Faros was speaking, but no sound was coming from his mouth.
If they have been granted forms then something big is about to happen. Above the clouds we shall go then… Ethan thought as the vision ceased. Gripping the ethereal club tighter in his hand, the ninja watched as Lance sent wave after wave of razor sharp wind gusts at him.
I believe he thinks he has the hope of defeating us with only wind… Linos said suddenly. As the wind gusts neared, the colossus swiped at them with its club, stopping the attack.
Take heed to the vision dear Ethan, for it will come true… another voice said, which the assassin instantly recognized as Faros’s.
I take heed of everything in the visions Faros, don’t worry about it. I assume you liked what you saw, since you saw you had a body…
It did intrigue me my boy, but it also puzzled me. How would we regain a physical form?
Trust in him Faros, if your vision was correct, then soon enough we will have what he wanted since the day Ethan murdered us, real bodies… Tantos said suddenly. As he was about to reply to thank the third colossi, another arc of light struck the spirit colossi, making it fall on Lance. Smiling as he fell, the assassin knew his adversary would be crushed. But moments before he landed, the mage began to glow, an orb of white light surrounding him. As the spirit landed, it was blown up into the sky by the orb, and Lance followed him, seemingly effortlessly flying into the sky after Ethan. Manipulating his spirit form, the ninja concentrated, and after a few moments was rewarded as a pair of wings spouted from his back.
So, the rebirth of the colossi begins… Ethan thought, turning to face his enemy.
Ooc: I will describe the colossi as they are reborn since I have a cool idea for it, you can concentrate on your three other characters. THEY CAN’T BE DIN, FARORE AND NAYRU!
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
The clouds were solidified, forming a strange platform for Lance and Ethan to stand on. Unrecognizable voices were ringing in his mind, though as he concentrated further he realised the voices were coming from behind him.
"With the blessings of the elements upon you..."
"Your power is incredibly enhanced..."
"You follow the path...Do you choose to engage in battle?"
Lance nodded, not thinking of turning around to examine the beings behind him. A golden light radiated from them, shining down on Lance and illuminating their cloudy battlefield.
"So we grant you the power..."
"Of seasons...."
"Ages..."
"And secrets..."
Ethan peered almost quizzically at the new arrivals. The cloaked beings held out their hands and blew gently, making streams of blue, red and green flow from their hands into lances body.
The mage warrior felt a strange sensation; his staff started humming and the orb atop it erupted into a brilliant white light. He held it out at Ethan and the light shone amongst the figures standing amongst him, forcing them to step away from the brightness. Lance heard the voices again.
"And finally..."
"Our messengers will assist you..."
With a flash and a short chorus of angels, the three beings vanished. In their place though, were three rings. Lance turned around to see that the runic symbols were three separate colours- blue, red and green. Rising rapidly out of the circles were three unidentifiable figures.
OoC: Woo! Okay, I guess you can choose who comes out. I was kinda going for the three oracles, but it's your choice really.
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Ooc: As I said, you have to do your own characters, I’m concentrating on mine!
Bic:
A sudden feeling filled Ethan, it wasn’t very pleasant but it was painful either. Looking at his own body through the ethereal fog, the ninja saw the death crests starting to glow white, but it didn’t even make Ethan flinch.
It was foretold that our father and mother would return to aid us, and yet we never took heed of the prophecy… Faros muttered suddenly.
Why? What’s going on?
The gods left us, and today they return. Tantos replied. Suddenly, the entire spirit went opaque, blocking Ethan’s vision of the outside world.
So…our children are nothing but hollow forms of their former power, and without our help they will be reduced to nothing. It seems we returned at the right time. a new voice said inside the assassin’s head. This one echoed with power, and made him shiver.
What have they done to you my children? another voice said.
We were… murdered, but this one now carries us, keeps us from death, and we have grown with him. Faros said quietly.
Very well, I think it was time you became whole once more… at least for a while.
Wincing slightly as he felt something leave him, Ethan turned round to see three spheres of energy appear from behind him, one an emerald green, another a pale silver, and the last a charcoal black. Without warning, the spirit became translucent again, and Ethan instantly knew that he was not alone. The entire sky had become dark, thunder echoed as lighting struck through the clouds. But beyond that, a sense of being watched filled him.
Let our power, strength and knowledge, give you forms once more.
Suddenly, three balls of blinding white light shot from the heavens, each striking a sphere. Instantly, the spheres expanded, limbs growing out of nothing, eventually forming three giant creatures. The colossi had returned. Breaking his gaze from the giants behind him, the ninja looked down, and noticed that Havoc was straining to be let go. Slightly puzzled, Ethan let go, and watched as the sword shot like an arrow upwards, stopping directly in the middle of the air.
You will need weapons, and what better than the item that was your home?
Havoc began to glow white once more, and suddenly split into three parts, each one growing by the second. Eventually, they formed the three forms of Havoc, each going to their respective colossus. Grabbing his own black sword, Faros laughed, tilting his head back as he did.
“We will enjoy this, won’t we brothers!” the colossus shouted. The other two nodded in reply, their gazes fixed on their foe. Catching the blood red fragment that was the only piece of Havoc left, Ethan watched as the sword regenerated itself. His own spirit was now filled with hope, but with the sight of the colossi, the assassin knew that whatever Lance had, it wouldn’t be a match for him. Flexing his spirit form, Ethan watched as it doubled in size, and Havoc appeared as a wraith blade in it’s hand.
May Heaven have mercy on his soul, for we will not…
Re: Fading Illumination (Icy angel)
Lance prepared himself for the oncoming attack, staff held at the ready in defence.
Be cautious, courageous one.
Give him the dance of death.
May our magic sing him to sleep...
Lance flew forward, the disc underneath him being replaced by blue wings on his feet. He flew around Ethan throwing all kinds of elemental magic straight at him and his allies. His opponents dodged his attacks with supernatural speed, leaving Lance breathless. Ethan and the others around him all held their hands in the air, as if to summon something.
Surely enough, in a matter of seconds a huge myriad of power flew out from them to strike Lance square in the chest. Lance was blown completely out of the air, his body sinking towards the ground, rapidly gaining speed.
The three oracles narrowed their eyes at the three colossi, the red hair's hands blazing in defiance.
"He is nought but a young warrior- what beings are you to oppose the destined so? Is this the mind of murderers?"
At that moment Nayru looked down, concentrating her power on Lance. Magic zoomed down to flow around him, slowing down his speed. He eventually touched the earth with a small thump, unheard by all of the deities in the sky.
Ethan looked accusingly back at Din, his wraith sword held at the ready. “It was not us who were the murderers- I was provoked."
Furore laughed, the merry sound jingling throughout all of the ears of all who heard it. When she regained her composure though, she was all but amused.
"Yet you still attacked him, even though you clearly outmatched him in many ways."
One of the colossi decided to step in. "Untrue- that teenager holds much potential to become a great spell caster."
Nayru turned her attention to him and glared at him. "So then you decided to come out your self and attack him, did you not? Shame upon you, Tantos.”
The spirit looked at Nayru in shock, obviously surprised by the fact that she knew his name. The oracle of ages grinned.
“Oh yes, Tantos. I know your name, and I’m not afraid to repeat the names of these other colossi here.”
Din looked back at Ethan, a spark in her eye. “I think it’s time for these ones to pay the price, sisters.”
In a flash the oracles had their hands out, and three blinding streams of energy blazed from them straight at the colossi. The beams each hit an individual opponent, the victims shouting in alarm as they were sapped of their energy and power. The bodies of the colossi started to fade, until they blew straight into Ethan’s body. The assassin’s wings started to shrink, causing him to started dropping downwards slowly. Farore looked at him smugly.
“Looks like the playing fields are even now, don’t you think?”
With a cry of outrage, the colossi warrior plummeted towards earth, one final cry on his lips. Nayru did the same thing that she had done to Lance and softened the blow as he hit the earth- though she did not stop his falling that much and she predicted that he would have a sore back for a few days.
Lance woke up to see three dazzling figures floating in front of him, their hands held together. Behind them were three similar figures, all cloaked in gold. The six all spoke in unison towards the tired spell warrior.
Much lies in your future, Laitari. But this is over- the illumination has now truly faded.
Lance watched as they all faded from sight, leaving the same plain as before, the sun fading into the horizon.
OoC: Sorry about not replying. Anyway, that was an interesting battle. One of the first lance has actually finished properly, if you could call it that.
