Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

OOC: As promised, here's your initiation battle into the OA. I'll be using Gorin, and you may use whichever character(s) you're joining the alliance with.

BIC: "Damn it..." thought Gorin. The neo-echo stood in the middle of the bustling town with a piece of paper crushed in his hand.

It seemed that over half of the alliance was missing now. Jamenda had gone into hiding with his army destroyed, Rein hadn't been seen in over two years, Varimathras had quit, Nenshou and Raid each dissappeared for their own reasons, and Kain was nowhere to be found.

"Looks like I need a few new members if I'm going to oppose Kenjin's knights."

The Oblivion Master decided that the best way to find a powerful ally was to wreak havoc until somebody powerful arrived to stop him. It would be a little fun as well.

Gorin created a rather large ax and instantly went to work smashing up buildings. He tipped over merchant's carts, struck down walls and windows, and wreaked overall havoc.

OOC: Sorry for the appalling first post. I just woke up about two hours ago, and I'm still a little sleepy. (Big party last night)

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

OoC: I'm going to use Shisho. A guy with pretty much only elemental attacks fighting a guy who absorbs them. I'm prepaired to get my ass kicked.

"Interesting." Shisho said. Shisho was walking down a street enjoying his new book. It was called The Beginner's Guide to Alchemy. He was finishing it up while going back to the library to return it. It was a little simple for him though, the example transmutation circles were similar to the arcane ones he used in his magic.

But as he was reading, he heard a comotion not too far away. There was a man in dark clothing, with a blue-ish pallor, tearing up one of the town's squares. "Another unintelligent, spreading his stupid to the perfectly normal." Shisho said in a superior tone. He always felt stupid in these situations though. Because he was always the one walking toward danger, while everyone else was running away.

"Hey reprobate!" Shisho called out, "In case you didn't notice, you're breaking things! Go be a moron somewhere else!"

Reprobate? Gorin thought as he turned to face his challenger. "Oh yeah?" he replied, "And who, may I ask, is going to make me?"

"I will!" Shisho replied as he cast Jump. He then lept into the air an extended his leg. As he was about to make contact, the man's weapon dissipated into thin air. The man grabbed Shisho's leg and tossed him to the ground.

Shisho got partway up and jumped away from the man. When he landed, he put his hand over his mouth and coughed up some blood. He had hit the ground harder than he thought.

The man started walking toward him. Shisho cast Lightning and got ready for an attack.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

“An element user eh? This is going to be interesting.” Said the neo-echo. Shisho raised his eyebrow when it seemed the man wasn’t even going to try to get out of the way of his electrical attack.

The lightning struck Gorin with such force that the flash temporarily blinded a nearby merchant, stupid enough to actually try and grab his merchandise before running.

The Oblivion Master merely smiled as the electrical element contorted and surrounding his body. Rather than harming him, the electricity was now flowing throughout the neo-echo’s skin like an electrical shield.

“Pretty good attack, if I weren’t practically immune to it.” Gorin said. The former god of wrath snapped his fingers, sending the electricity back at Shisho.

The magi rolled out of the way of the attack and cast Fire. He knew that some people were lightning elementalists, this guy was probably just a lightning elementalist.

“Again with the elements,” said Gorin. He surprised the magi by reaching out and shoving his hand into the flame attack as it was about to hit him.

Rather than continue onto the rest of the neo-echo’s body, the fire folded around Gorin’s fist to form a fireball of sorts. It surrounded the Oblivion Master’s hand in a ball of flame.

“My turn.” Said Gorin. He leapt at Shisho and brought the flaming fist down with enough force to smash a merchant’s cart in half. This was ironic, as that was exactly what happened.

The magi jumped out of the way as the former god brought his flaming fist down onto the still blinded merchant’s cart, smashing it in half and burning the man’s watermelons.

Rather than extinguish the fire, Gorin’s attack had no effect on his makeshift gauntlet. He rolled his head around, cracking his neck.

“Let’s see exactly how skilled you are. I might have something special for you if you’re good enough.”

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

"And what might that be?" Shisho demanded. "You're just going to have to wait and see." The man responded.

He's absorbed everything I've thrown at him so far. He must be an elemental monster. Shisho thought while avoiding his opponents firey attack. I hate elemental monsters, and I hate using Light a lot. It's so repetitive. And so Shisho cast Light.

As he readied his throwing arm, his opponent threw his fire back at him. So Shisho threw his explosive up into the air and cast Reflect. The fireball bounced off of his gauntlet and off in a direction. And as his ball of light came back down he deflected it toward his opponent.

Gorin avoided the ball of light that the Magi had sent at him. It exploded a few feet behind him, exposing his back to the radient light energy. Gorin stumbled a little but quickly regained his composure.

The Magi jumped into the air and threw two more balls at him. Gorin jumped backwards in time to avoid the explosion, but got another dose of radient light. When the Magi landed Gorin rushed him, knocking him over with his shoulder.

Shisho was knocked to the ground by the man he was fighting. The man was too close to throw a Light spell at. So he cast Lightning and threw the bolt at him. Though the man absorbed it, it gave Shisho enough time to get part way up and jump away.

OoC: Sorry if it's a little off. I'm really tired today. And by the way, how would an Echo react to light?

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

OOC: Some people count light as an element, so he might be able to absorb it. It depends on a person’s opinion on whether shadow and light count as elements.

I think light and shadow count as elements though. Like fire, water, and the air, it’s impossible to change into a different thing. Water can be frozen and evaporated, but it’s still water. Similar to light, dark, fire, air, earth, and electricity.

BIC: Shisho ran around Gorin, towards a weapons merchant’s cart. The cart was smashed but quite a few of the weapons were in tact, including several throwing weapons.

The Oblivion Master whipped around and shot the electricity he had absorbed from the magi’s last attack back at Shisho. The magi jumped out of the way and grabbed several shuriken and throwing knives.

“Let’s see you dance,” said Shisho. He threw several shuriken at the neo-echo. “Come on…” He said to himself. If throwing weapons were useless he might be forced into close quarters combat.

Gorin dodged several of the shuriken, watching the metallic weapons flying over his head. The last shuriken had been thrown slightly lower and looked to be heading for Gorin’s shoulder.

The neo-echo turned to the side, letting the shuriken stab into his arm rather than his shoulder. Shisho was surprised that no blood came out of the wound.

“What are you?” He asked. The magi quickly scooped up several more shuriken. It seemed that they were more effective than elemental attacks.

“Quite simple really. I’m what you get when you fuse Tainted Element with the soul of the dark god of wrath, then force it into a physical form.” Gorin replied. The Oblivion Master could have simply answered that he was a neo-echo, but he thought it would only bring more questions.

Shisho grabbed a throwing axe, as the former god didn’t seem to be on the offensive at the moment. That quickly changed.

Gorin leapt over the smashed cart, bearing down on the magi. Shisho rolled out of the way and threw the throwing axe at the neo-echo.

Gorin grabbed the axe out of the air, not noticing that several shuriken and throwing knives had followed it. A couple of the small weapons lodged themselves in the Oblivion Master’s chest and stomach.

Being small weapons they didn’t pierce far enough into the neo-echo’s flesh to hinder his movement. They were beginning to build up on him though.

"How many more of those have you got?" Gorin asked. The Oblivion Master threw the throwing axe back at Shisho rather than listen to his reply.

The magi barely dodged the flying weapon, and countered with a few more shuriken.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

OoC: Well actually on that subject I use the Fire Emblem system. Where you have Anima (The four elements), Light, and Dark. According to that, Light and Dark would have very different properties than Anima. I really don't want to get into a big thing about this here. So for continuities sake, We'll go with what you said.

Light isn't even working! What is this thing? Shisho was thinking. He wingged his last couple shauriken at his opponent to miss by a large margin. Alright, lets review. He isn't an elemental, so what could he be. Shisho renewed his jump spell and avoided his opponent's attack.

Gorin was getting irritated. His opponent wasn't doing anything but running and avoiding. "Lets see you dance." Gorin said as he started to form his own Shauriken.

"Woah!" Shisho exclaimed as he cast Shield. The little stars bounced off of him, each one was like a Giant Bee sting. Then he had an idea.

Shisho jumped backwards and broke into a run. He skidded forward and jumped at the lowest angle he could get. He flew at his opponent, and just before he slammed into him, he cast Fairy. He used his momentum to quickly fly behind and above the man.

Shisho uncast his spell, landing him squarely on the shoulders of his opponent. Before he lost his balance, he jammed his foot into the back of the man's head.

The man fell forward but caught himself before he hit the ground. As Shisho landed, he recast his Jump and Shield spells and got down in a stance. The man got up and got down in a stance of his own.

If I can hit him hard enough, I might get enough time to find something in my Spell Book. Shisho thought There's got to be something in there that can stop that guy. Either that or I need another idea.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

Gorin smiled. This fight was getting rather interesting. The neo-echo began absorbing the earth element that resided in the ground below the warriors.

What the Oblivion Master had planned was going to be very nice to see. He had done it once before, during his battle against Droz, Rayu, and Brolio. It was simple really.

The attack was basically using the surrounding topsoil in an attack that changed it into a tidal wave. It would greatly damage the surrounding buildings, but no civilians were anywhere near enough to be harmed by the attack.

The former god ran towards the magi and was surprised to see that he was running right back at him. Gorin tried to plow Shisho down with a powerful hook kick.

The magic user saw the neo-echo’s heel flying through the air towards him and ducked under it. He took advantage of Gorin’s momentary weakness, as his foot hadn’t completed the kick yet, and shouldered him.

The Oblivion Master lost his balance and fell to the ground with a grunt. Shisho used the remaining momentum from his shoulder ram to perform a roundhouse kick to the neo-echo’s face, knocking him from a sitting position to a laying position.

Now that Gorin was down the magi quickly reached for his spellbook.

OOC: Sorry for the crappy quality of this post. I’ve been busy. I promise my next few posts will make up for the badness of this one.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

Gorin may have been down, but that wasn't exactly a bad thing. Now his whole body was against the earth, allowing him to manipulate its elemental energy faster. He concentrated on the earth in front of him and prepaired to unleash his attack.

Shisho franticaly looked through his spell book. Anima, Anima, Anima, Non-combat, Light, Light, Dark. He read off the spell types in his mind, untill he came to one he could use Ah, here we are, my most powerful Non-elemental spell Shisho started making hand gestures and whispering incantations.

Both of the fighters were too focused to notice that the square was silent. Besides the growling of the concentrating Gorin and the whispering of the focused Shisho, there was no sound.

Then the ground started shaking, the streets and ground below started to fold up in front of Gorin. Shisho started reading louder, a circle embedded with strange symbols became visible hovering over his book.

The ground in front of Gorin then rose up and tidal waved at his opponent. But before the wall of earth could get half way to Shisho, he completed his spell. He placed his hand flat on the symbol in the air, causing it to dissapeer and in its place there came a large ball of pure magical energy.

Shisho pushed the ball forward, causing it to soar at the wall of earth in an amazing burst of speed. The two attacks met between the two fighters. The resulting explosion sent shrapnel flying at the two. Shisho renewed his Shield spell before he got hit and Gorin was hardly affected by the flying chunks of earth and rock.

Gorin got up to find that he was covered with dirt and little pieces of rock that were sticking out of himself. After wiping himself off a little and picking out a few shards he looked up to where his opponent used to be. The man in purple or red clothes was no longer there. Then he saw something move. His opponent rose from the dirt and shook himself off.

Shisho looked up at his opponent and stared at him. "He just won't go down." Both Gorin and Shisho said at the same time.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

Gorin looked around himself. The explosion that had been the result of the clashing attacks leveled the entire block. Where three story buildings once stood, only piles of rubble remained.

The air was still fairly dusty due to the collapsing buildings. Despite that, both warriors could see one another fairly clearly.

Shisho coughed a bit when an unusually large puff of smoke clogged his breathing. The neo-echo however, was merely looking at his surroundings.

At least five three-story buildings had crumbled, six two-story buildings, several merchants’ stands, and even the statue of a bounty hunter by the name of Arthur.

The sight of the statue, which the Oblivion Master had failed to notice before, awakened a dormant memory inside of him. He had battled this “Arthur” twice before.

The first time had been during a two vs. two match at a tournament. It had been the cybernetic man Slag and himself against his frequent opponent Tuariv as well as Arthur.

The second time he had met Arthur, he had been sent to kill Gorin. The Oblivion Master and the warrior fought a fierce battle, ending only when the heavens themselves intervened.

That statue was probably erected after that battle. I’ve heard that it’s become a frequent tale around this town,” thought Gorin. “Perhaps I should search him out for another fight sometime.

The former god smiled for a moment. The statue had been crushed under a building that had fallen over, the sight of which made an idea crawl into his head.

This warrior had already proven himself against the earth wave technique, but another few tests of his abilities had to be made. This next one would test the warrior’s judgement and ability to avoid traps.

Gorin fled towards one of the only standing buildings. He wasn’t aware that Shisho was well ahead of him. Rather than falling for the neo-echo’s trick and following him inside a building where the dark man would have an obvious advantage, the magi began to chant the spell he had just used.

Unaware that Shisho was about to shoot a powerful spell straight into his back, Gorin continued towards the building.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

Shisho continued to prep his spell. His opponent wouldn't be too hard to hit, as he had just ran into a building. Even if he didn't hit him with it, the explosion and building collapse would tear him to shreads.

As the spell came closer to completion, the circle started to appear above his book. When it was completed the circle glowed bright blue, causing Shisho's still cloudy eyes to blink. he turned his head and saw what was around himself.

His last attack had decimated some of the surrounding buildings. He turned around, letting the circle float free. He looked at the destruction he had caused.

"What have I done?" Shisho said "I came here to stop the square from being destroyed and then I go and destroy it myself... I need to hasten my efforts to stop that thing."

Shisho turned around again and activated the circle, manifesting another ball of energy. He put his palm against the magic ball and pushed forward, letting it fly.

Gorin ran up the stairs to the second floor of the building. He quickly set up something heavy that he could push down them. Then, with a couple tables and some other pieces of furniture, he made various other things to get in his opponent's way.

After he was finished setting his traps, he looked out the window. Because Gorin was on his back the last time Shisho did this, he had no idea what he was doing. He then saw the Magi manifest a glowing ball. He started to run away from the window, but it was too late.

To Gorin's suprise, his last thoughts before the building collapsed around him were: "He definately avoided that trap."

Shisho stood there looking at the small pile of rubble that the building had been reduced to. He waited to see if his opponent was going rise again from the earth. After a few minutes he gave up and decided to find a local law enforcer and tell them what happened. But he didn't take two steps before he heard something he didn't want to hear.

He turned around to see that his opponent had once again risen.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

OOC: Sorry about “Hunting for a death dealer”, it’s going to get more interesting soon. I promise.

BIC: Gorin wiped his arm against a large gash, which went from his right ear to his lips. It wasn’t that he was expecting to wipe blood off, it was just an old habit from his last body.

Now why didn’t I see that coming?” thought the neo-echo. That last attack had caused more damage to him than the last one, as more of the building had collapsed on him.

Other than the gash however, the former god hadn’t sustained any real injuries. He had of course, once had an entire castle collapse on him and get away with just a temporarily unusable leg, along with a severe headache.

Much to Shisho’s surprise, the dark man began to clap. Dust escaped from his hands in little poofs as he clapped.

“Very good, very good.”

The magi stepped back slightly. This man was beginning to scare him. How could anything survive being hit nearly head on by such a powerful attack, then survive the building they were in collapsing on them?

Gorin noticed that Shisho was stepping back.

“Now now,” the neo echo said, using his mind scan technique. “You shouldn’t wound what you can’t kill, Shisho.”

That was one of his favorite sayings. It basically meant to finish everything you started, although his imp Frank usually interpreted it as “If you hit somebody in the face, you have to kill them afterwards.”

The magic user’s eyes widened. How did this thing know his name?

“How do you know my name?” he asked. Gorin chuckled and brushed some dust off of himself.

“I’ll admit that I have ways of finding things out that others might find unfair, such as the mind scan technique. Of course, it would be rude for me to know your name and you not to know mine. My name is Gorin.”

This was the second time in the last few minutes that Gorin had surprised Shisho. Less than forty minutes ago this man had been rampaging through the streets like an imbecile, now he was talking as though he were an intelligent individual.

“Now then, shall we continue with our little practice match?” asked Gorin. The Oblivion Master began to chant the ability he had copied from Shisho via the mind scan technique.

The exact ability that the magi had used on the neo-echo twice so far in the fight to rather good results.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

When Shisho figured out what Gorin was doing, it was all he could do to keep himself from laughing. This was the third time he was suprised at his opponent. He could have stopped Gorin right there, but at this point, he was willing to get hurt. He cast Reflect and readied his arm.

Gorin concentrated as he tried to mimic Shisho's attack. As he murmered the incantations and made the hand gestures, the circle started to appear, with its own illusionary spell book right below it. Then he completed the spell. He put his palm flat on the circle and generated the ball.

As he launched off the attack, he noticed an instant before it hit, that Shisho hadn't moved an inch.

Slam! Shisho caught the ball with one hand, and was sent skidding across the square. His Reflect spell wasn't strong enough to deflect the attack, but was strong enough to stop it. He finally stopped moving when he hit a building.

Shisho slowly brought himself out of the body shaped imprint he left. With a snear on his face, he brought his arm back and threw the spell back at Gorin.

Gorin stood there as he watched Shisho take the force of the spell and crash into a wall. He watched his opponent take a step forward and bring the ball back.

The spell came at him with terrifying speed. He generated his Echo shield, stopping the ball just inches from his face. The spell hung there for a moment and then flew off into the air.

Shisho walked toward Gorin, blood trailing down his chin. "I'll give you several reasons why that was an extremely, stupid thing to do. One: I could have closed my Spell Book at any time, and that would have cut off the information to you. Two: I could have walked right up to you and taken you down while you were still casting. And Three: Did I not just throw it back at you? You're going to have to do much better than copying me if you want to beat me."

After Shisho said his last word, Gorin scanned his mind. "You're too hurt to keep fighing." "I'm hurt, but not hurt enough to stop." Shisho flipped over a few pages and got ready for the next round.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

OOC: Sorry for cutting this battle short. I’m trying to conserve my CJ’s for an incredibly big event that is going to take place soon.

My final evaluation: Welcome to the OA Librairian. You can use the Oblivion Major banner thing I sent you in your sig, avatar, whatever.

BIC: Gorin laughed and held out his hand as though he were stopping a minotaur from plowing into a person. Shisho noticed that the neo-echo was completely relaxed as though he weren’t going to fight anymore.

“You’ve certainly given me a fun fight. That’s not something that happens all the time you know,” said the dark man. He stuck his hand in his pocket as though he were going to grab a weapon.

The magi tensed up until Gorin pulled the item out of his pocket. It was an obsidian colored ring with strange runic symbols engraved in it.

With a flick of his wrist the neo-echo tossed the item over to Shisho. The magic user caught the ring and looked it over, taking in its magnificent engravings and perfect form.

“You’ve passed. Welcome to the Oblivion Alliance Shisho.”

OOC: Sorry for such a short post, you can post Shisho’s reaction to this as well as Gorin basically explaining what the OA is. Again, sorry for the atrociously short post.

Re: Welcome to Oblivion. (Librairian)

OoC: You clearly don't know how much I respect you. I'm just grateful that someone with your talent even recognizes me.

BiC: Shisho eyed the ring Gorin had just tossed to him. Like the circles from his alchemy book, the runes on the ring were similar to the ones he used in his spells. And If he had not been so confused about what the hell was going on, he would have had time to fully inspect its craftmanship.

He looked up at the man who he, untill a moment ago, used to be fighting with. "You were... testing me?" Shisho asked. He didn't know weather to be grateful for "passing" into this so called Oblivion Alliance, or angry for the unescessary force he had to put out.

"To an effect, yes." Gorin answered. "I needed to see if you were good enough to be in Oblivion. And I've got to say, you're pretty good."

Shisho looked around. He was grateful to have what was apparently an ally of sorts, but he just had to say something. "I'm grateful that you're letting me join... whatever it is that I'm joining, but I have to say something. We couldn't have done this somewhere else?"

Gorin looked around. "You mean the square? They'll fix it. It's not like we destroyed the entire town."

"That's not the point. There's a wide open plain, not too far from here, just outside of town. After you threw me down the first time, you could have asked me to follow you and I would have."

"Well, there's no way I would have know that." Gorin replied. Shisho crossed his arms and quickly nodded. He then raised his arms up and lowered his head. "You told me yourself that you can scan minds." Shisho retorted.

"I can read thoughts and some memories, I can't predict what you would do if I did something differently." "Really? Alright, alright you win. I concede the point to you."

"So, as a member of this 'Oblivion Alliance', what would I have to do?" Shisho asked. "I have enemies, dangerous ones." Gorin answered. "I need Oblivion to help me beat them."

"Really? Well alright then, always willing to help. I hope I can be of assistance." Shisho didn't know what to say after that.

He started to walk forward. The pain in his ribs and right arm was kind of jarring, but he just used his normal cure of ignoring it. "So am I supposed to do something or, what am I supposed to do?" Shisho asked.

"Right now I don't have anything, but I'll find you if I ever need your help." Gorin answered. "Ah. Well here, I've got a way of keeping in touch."

Shisho sat down and started looking through his Spell Book. When he came to the right page, he started scraping one of his arcane circles in the dirt. He muttered the single line of the incantation to activate the spell, and watched the circle glow. When the spell finished, there was a blue glowing stone where the circle used to be.

Shisho picked it up and handed it to Gorin. "What's this?" "It's a modified version of a thing from my home land, called a Gossip Stone. All you have to do is think of me and we can talk at any distance." "Alright." "Don't try talking to anyone else though. Only one of the Magi can recieve and send with out having another one."

Gorin put the stone away. Shisho stood there silently for a moment and then he remembered what he was doing. "Well, that was fun, but I've got to get medical attention, and return a book."

Shisho stuck out his hand and Gorin shook it. A minute or two later, each of them was on their own again. Shisho rubbed his arm as he walked. "Hey! We could have done this somewhere else. I should have kept arguing."

OoC: Great battle. Can't wait untill next time.
