Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

OOC: This is going to be the longest OA quest yet, so don't join if you can't be in it for the long haul. This will likely end with upgrades (If ok with mods).

BIC: Gorin knew that something wasn't quite right. Grasthos' notes usually centered on his personnal experiances, as well as things he has discovered about souls.

The late death dealer had no time for superstition. He created Echo Side for heck's sake! Gorin still didn't know why he made Echo Side, but didn't really care.

The thing that surprised him in this note was the mention of a series of tasks that was reported to grant people power. Some had recieved weapons, some knowledge, some powers.

It seemed that Grasthos had planned on taking the journey himself, before his untimely death at the hands of his first succesful echo. Oh well, better that Gorin do so than that greedy fool.

"Each temple requires that it's guardian be defeated by a different warrior." he read. This part was going to be easy.

"Jeorrod!" he hollered. A domerri appeared at his side. This one was the same one that he used to spy on students of the Dome.

"Yes sir?" he asked. The domerri was sick of carrying out Gorin's errands, which usually involved delivering letters and information to various hooligans. At least, the Jeorrod considered them hooligans.

Gorin jotted down several short letters, then sealed them in different envelopes. He double checked to make sure they were sealed properly.

He had recently discovered a sealing spell from Grasthos' notes. It was only good for making it so that only certain people could open letters, so he never used it in combat.

"Give these to those addressed on the envelopes. Make sure you tell them to meet me here, and bring Frank if they don't know the way."

The domerri winced. Frank, the imp with a cloning ability, was the one who usually showed people the way to where Gorin was waiting if they didn't know the location. The imp was very cheeky, especially to Jeorrod.

"Yes sir." the domerri said. At once the supernatural being melted into the floor.

OOC: Just make up the letters. They don't all have to be the same.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

I have arrived, don't worry about a thing, fellow comrades! I will save you!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isis was sitting in a small log cabin, grasiously taken in by an old couple that were convinsed that she was wearing a costume and was insane. The goddess sighed, looking out the window. How long had it been since her last battle? The angelic figure picked up her sheath, heavy with the massive blade, and slung it over her back. "Thanks for the meal!" she called, as the old man half laughed and half coughed. She rolled her eyes and walked out.

A dommerri had appeared, holding a note and looking sour. "Here you are. It's from master Gorin." The goddess took the note and said thank you. The dommerri looked positivly pleased, no-one ever said thank you! Isis opened the note, and read the words that were printed in dark red ink.

Isis put one hand on her hip and stared. "This is easily the most formal letter yet." The goddess extended her wings and flew off into the night.

The old man saw this and nearly had a heart attack.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

*Arrives missing an eye, two fingers, and a couple of limbs* Power Shot took Shrub's ruler *puff* and beat me with it. I *wheeze* can hardly type now *choke* but, I'll try. *collapse* (See OoC Thread to find out why.)

IC: Poof! Gorin's familiar Domerii appeared in front of Latio in a puff of smoke, and handed him a letter, with a strange decorative seal holding it shut. "For Major Latio" the ghost said rather cheerfully. It seemed to like Latio for some reason, as if it'd developed a personallity, unlike the rest of it's kind.

"Major Latio?" Latio queried, as he ran his fingertips along the bumps on the page. "Who makes these? Does Gorin 'write' the braille himself?"

"No sir. I translate it, sir" the domerii, apparantly named Jeorrod, prepared to deliver the rest of the invitations. After Latio finished reading the letter, it burned up in a dark-purple flame, and the ashes seemed to dissipate once they touched the ground.

"Great power? Gorin has enough already, but I guess it could be fun. I better get a teleportation power though, I'm tired of walking everywhere." the foxfolk chuckled as he walked towards the designated location, reaching it in a couple of hours

"Hello Gorin."

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

OoC: Ah, wonderful, now there's an excuse(kinda) for the massive power Mirorin's going to come to soon(probably "won't be allowed on ZU" powerful. I could show everyone though once it's on RPC, my site)

BiC: Something non-human was there.

Hostility?
... No.

What was it?
... Unknown.

A familiar presence, Gorin, perhaps? No, but something that had been in close contact with Gorin and the rest of the Oblivions recently. Mirorin stood, opening his eyes as he moved carefully out of the bed and into his clothing. Saoryou slept soundly on the oppisite side. She still doesn't know about them... I should really tell her...

The Echo's Domerri, whom Mirorin picked out ot be named Jeorrod, walked the rest of the way to the Elemental's humble cottage.

"Master Gorin has requested your presence, it's explained in the letter." Jeorrod said officiously.

Mirorin took offense, "Wonderful attitude Mr. Jeorrod, I would applaud you but I don't believe that you would live long enough to enjoy it. I have my letter, off with you now, I'll have no business with Domerri like yourself, tell "Master Gorin" that for me."

General Mirorin,

I am pleased to announce a journey for power I'm very sure you will be quite interested in. There is great power involved, as well as weapons, and knowledge. Apologies about the brief nature of this letter, but please come if you are interested.
regards, Gorin

"Well, I would be a liar if I said my interest wasn't the slightest bit piqued. I suppose I'm off, but perhaps I should send a letter of my own..."

OoC: Mikey knows what that's about, I prefer to keep it secret for now but if anyone must know then ask him.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

Gorin stood outside of his new home, the late Grasthos' lab. A portal in one of the rooms led to his room in the Dome, but only so that he could get in and out of the Dome quickly.

Latio had been first to arrive. Gorin was mumbling to himself when the foxfolk showed up. "Damn Encorna. Better not be planning on doing something to her."

"Hello Gorin." came Latio's voice. Gorin almost jumped in surprise, something that was rather amusing considering the fact that Gorin was one of the most powerful beings in existence.

"Oh, hi Latio. I'll wait to tell you what's up until Isis and Mirrorin get here. I sent letters to the others, but I'm not sure if Jeorrod even knows where they are." replied the Oblivion Master.

Soon the beating of wings echoed throughout the barren landscape. The godess known only as Isis floated down to Latio and Gorin.

"Hello Gorin, Latio." said Isis. She folded her wings and stood before the warriors with her arms crossed.

"Hello Isis. Seeing as Mirrorin loves late entrances, and has a reason to be a little late this time, I suppose we better be off."

A carriage pulled by four horses rode up. The driver was none other than Frank, the cheeky imp with cloning powers.

"Hey's there Gorin! Goin somewhere are ya? Well then hop on!" he yelled. Gorin, Latio, and Isis got into the carriage. Gorin had already told Frank the first stop, so the transport vehicle set off instantly.

OOC: Have them stop at a temple. I can take it from there for a moment, then back to you guys.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

He he he... time for my other character to come into the Alliance...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The group pretty much rode without discussion for a while, until Isis finally broke the silence. It was like glass breaking. "Uh... Gorin? I found someone with a lot of potential along my independant journeys, and I asked him if he might come with us..." Gorin sighed. "Sure, let's meet him." A ripping sound sound from the canvas up top was heard, followed by a shadowy boy hitting the floor. "Yo." it said, getting up.

"Who the hell are you?" Gorin asked, also getting up. "I'm Erebus. I'm the guy Isis was talking about." Short, skinny and obviously a heavy drinker. Gorin looked at Isis, then back at Erebus, then back at Isis for several seconds. Then he shrugged and sat back down. "It's his funeral." The boy cracked a grin across the left side of his face and sat down. He pulled out earphones and started to bob his head almost as soon as he had put them in.

I, Link, you have spy cameras in my house. 'Cept for the bio, the drinking, the height and martial arts stuff Erebus is the perfect incarnation of me, even the personality (sorta). Oh, and I don't have glasses, though I might need some.

*Reserved unless General COTA wants to post, I'll write it at school*

EDIT: Nevermind, we're at a temple already

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

OoC:I might add that Reizin is almost complete, but I'm putting an extensive amount of work into this character, so it might be a few days before I can even post him, let alone get him approved.

Here is the post that I've been working so hard on(actually, I've been more engrossed in finishing Reizin, and haven't been working on this as hard)

BiC: After the commotion caused by Erebus was over. Latio questioned Gorin about the actual quest.

"What are we actually doing? You didn't provide us with much information pertaining to the actual activites we'll be engaging in."

"I'm not sure of much of it myself, what I do know is that a different one of us has to defeat the guardians of multiple temples, and-"

"We're here!" Frank yelled back.

"I'll explain more later, let us get headed towards that temple." The Echo said, standing.

As the group began to leave the carriage, a sillhouette stepped out of the shadows.

"If you'd have waited five minutes, I'd have ridden with you. Instead I've been freezing my ass off waiting for you to get here."

To Latio Scaptur:

DUDE. I made Erebus to be exactly like me. Except, there's no alcohol. Everthing else is totally me. In real life. Seriously.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

OOC: Keep the OOC posts to a minimum guys. I have ducktape you know!

BIC: Gorin smiled. Mirrorin usually loved late entrances, but that didn't seem the case this time.

"And I thought you loved late entrances." Gorin said sarcastically. Mirrorin was dripping wet, it had apparently been raining.

The temple was in the middle of a large clearing. The ground was soft from recent rain, and the air smelled of pine trees. The full moon peeked through the sky.

"There's no stars. That's strange." commented Gorin. Erebus was still bobbing his head to the music being played by his strange device.

"We're here." said Isis. The boy didn't show any signs of noticing, as his eyes were closed and he was still bobbing his head to the music.

"I said we're here." the godess repeated, slightly louder this time. The boy was still bobbing his head to the music. Gorin yanked the earphones off of Erebus' head.

"What was that for?" he asked. He then noticed that they were standing in front of a large stone temple. "Oh."

Gorin turned to Mirrorin and had a hushed conversation with his dear friend. The Oblivion Master told him about the temples and Erebus, then the two conversed on who they thought should fight the first temple's guardian.

The echo finally turned to Erebus, who was being scolded by Isis for embarressing her in front of Gorin.

"You'll be the one to go into this temple. It's quite simple really. Kill the temple guardian, take the relic, and come back here."

OOC: You can describe the inside of the temple, the temple guardian, and the relic.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

OoC: I almost made a comment about the OoC: posts myself, but that would be ironically stupid. It isn't now because I have another point for this post. I've noticed something you guys do so I must say: Despire popular opinion, Mirorin only has two r's in his name.

M-I-R-O-R-I-N

Which is something I need to clarify for clarity's sake itself.

No harm done, just try to be more careful guys.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

Oh God. This is going to be stupid...
----------------------------------
"Cool. See ya in a bit."

Erebus walked into the temple and wrinkled his nose at the smell of mildew and fermented feces. "Oh God..." he said, waving his hand. The boy soon got used to the smell and put his earphones back in. "There's a little girl I know, you might now her too... She looks so good, woahoh, she looks so cute, standing next to you..." he said, keeping up with his song.

(10 cool points to anyone who knows who made that song.)

In the midst of listening to his favorite soundtracks, Erebus didn't realize that there was a giant spider slowly creeping up with him. "Here comes the BOOM!" he yelled, singing along with another song. The boy pulled out his knife and started swinging it wildly with each "BOOM" The spider stood up on only it's back four legs, preparing for the death blow. "BOOM!" he flung the knife on accident, and it went straight into the heart of the beast. It fell over dead on the spot.

Erebus opened his eyes in shock, and even took out his earphones. After a few seconds, our hero regained his calm and pulled out the knife, wiping it clean of green blood on his communist jacket. A treasure chest seemed to appear from nowhere, and Erebus knew that there must be gold or something...

He opened the chest like Young Link would a large chest from OOT, all mysterious and slow. "What the heck? A sword?" he yelled. Suddenly, his head hurt like never before. The boy dropped the blade and staggered back, and a flashback similar in quality to a 1920's black-and-white movie rushed through his head

A scream.

The noise that a knife makes when it slashes a throat.

A crying, sobbing woman.

Then darkness.

"What's taking so long?" Gorin yelled. They had been waiting for several hours now. "You said he had potential!" Isis was completly stoic. The echo was beside himself.

A rustling of leaves.

A boy emerging from the bushes.

"Finally, what took..." the oblivion master cut off. Erebus' eyes were filled with tears, and he was taking short, stuttering breaths. "Guys... I saw my mom." he said, then broke into tears. No-one besides Isis seemed to notice the blade now hung on his back, with letters emblazened in gold in an ancient language only she could understand.

"The Moonwave Sword" it read.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

OoC: Reel Fish.

BiC: Frank pulled the caravan up to where the group was gathered. "Aww, look at the little cry-baby" he joked. At this comment Isis glared at him and shot a Glare spell, which hit it's target, and the little imp poofed back to whichever dimention he spawned from.

"Great." Gorin said. "Now we've got to go on foot, unless any of you know how to drive a horse-and-carrage."

OoC: Anime night, sorry it's short. I blame T.V. and it's hypnotic abilities.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

Much to everybody's surprise, especially Mirorin, who had known the former god for almost three years now, Gorin moved towards Erebus.

The Oblivion Master allowed the boy the use of his shoulder to sob on, Gorin knew how bad memories could be. The echo motioned for Isis to come over.

"Take your kid friend." Gorin said. Isis was about to protest, saying that Erebus had obviously seen something disturbing in there when Gorin motioned for her to hush.

"I meant comfort him, I'm checking out the temple." said the Oblivion Master.

Isis took Erebus towards the carriage while Gorin headed towards the temple. "This temple must have something to do with memories." he thought.

The inside was the usual temple inside, with runic symbols adorning the walls and cobwebs in every corner. Not surprisingly, Gorin found the text to be one of the many ancient scripts that he was proficient in.

"All who enter this domain will be faced with the memories of the past, along with the pains..." the text said. Something about the wall wasn't right.

The Oblivion Master knocked on it gently, and found that it was hollow. With a powerful kick, the wall was smashed apart. What Gorin saw inside however, made his eyes widen.

"Long time no see..." said a white haired man. He wore black armor, and had black angel wings. His teeth were sharper than normal teeth, and he had an evil sneer on his face.

"You're me. How can you be here?!" shouted Gorin. The doppleganger laughed a blood curtling laugh, before his face was smashed by Gorin.

Shards of glass fell to the ground where the image of the Oblivion Master's origional self had been. "Damn this temple.." thought Gorin.

The echo left the temple to find that Erebus had stopped crying, although Isis was still holding him in a motherly manner.

"Let's set up camp for tonight. I think some of us need rest before we take on the next few temples." said Gorin. Everybody seemed to love the idea, and they each went to find the perfect place to sleep.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

THERE IS ALMOST NO POINT IN THIS POST. I JUST MADE IT TO HOPEFULLY GET THE STORY MOVING ALONG. THANK YOU.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They all sat around the campfire, waiting for something that seemed to never come.

Day.

Erebus was even more silent then usual, yet he had once again started his head bobbing. The silence was overwhelming, overbearing, enough to drive a man insane. Finally. Erebus spoke up. "Got any tequila?" The boy had said it in a fairly innocent tone, almost enough to make Isis say "yes." "No." Gorin exclaimed, much to the shock of everyone. "Well fine, any Guinness?"
"No."
"Vodka?"
"Yes, but you aren't getting any."
"Why not?"
"You're fourteen. Think about it."
"But I've been drinking all my life!"
"I don't care."
"What is this... K'air?"
"Don't you talk to him like that!" Isis yelled, cutting in on the never ending argument. Erebus shrugged and turned up the volume. They could hear a snickering coming from the trees.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

Gorin sighed.

"Frank, get out here and start driving the carriage." The red imp came hobbling out from the trees, a large bandage wrapped around his head.

"Take that off." said Gorin. He knew that the bandage was just there for the imp to try and make Isis feel bad for killing one of his 99 lives.

"Ohhh, I was having fun listening to the little brat get yelled a-" Gorin grabbed Frank by the neck, cutting the imp off mid-sentance.

"Will you just shut up and drive the carriage, or do I have to get the duct tape out?" he asked. Frank's eyes widened. The echo would punish him if he got on his nerves too much by putting duct tape on his eyes, then tearing the tape off as fast as he could.

"I'll shut up." he managed to choke out. Gorin released his grip on the imp and turned to Latio.

"The next temple's yours." he said. The warriors gathered into the carriage, it was beginning to rain. The sound of water hitting the canvas top was very rythmic.

Surprising everyone for the second time this journey, Gorin fell asleep. He didn't make a single noise, not even snoring.

OOC: Latio's temple next.

Re: Ancient Power. (Oblivion Alliance)

The group travelled in the cramped, two-or-three-person caravan through that day and into the night, and every once in a while one of the Oblivion Warriors would get out and walk, or sit on the roof, or, for those who could, fly around to scout. At midnight they reached their destination: The Temple of Holy Flame. Gorin wouldn’t get close to it, he said he didn’t want to ‘disturb the holiness,’ though Isis was rejuvenated by the place. Latio prepared to enter the temple, and heaved the iron doors open. As soon as he stepped in, his right eye felt the pain of one of Isis’ glare spells, probably because of the unholy acid slowly poisoning his mind.

The interior of the temple had a red-orange tint to it, and Latio could hear the crackling of the fire clearly. The sound eminated from two massive statues to the left and right of a stone staircase. The statues were of bald men sitting cross-legged in a meditating pose, and the monoliths were ablaze in a magic fire. The Oblivion major ascended the steps, which were small in number, and at the top he found another door, this time a weaker copper one, but it was locked. Latio was fairly good at cracking this type of lock, as he demonstrated to a group in another dungeon named ‘Woodland Temple.’ The adequate lock-cracker pressed one of his long ears against the metal door and smashed the top-left corner with a closed fist, and the simple lock was broken. So far, so good, Latio thought.

OoC: The pungent scent of mildew eminated from the dungeon’s stone walls...

BiC: The next room was a long corridor, with no visible obstructions, but Latio felt something in the room, danger. He picked a small stone off the ground and threw it down the dark hallway; Gorin had taught him this, safety precaution, for lack of better words. As soon as the stone hit the floor the door Latio had just gone through was replaced by a wall of fire. “Well, I guess I can’t go back that way...” the foxfolk said, concentrating on the door a few meters ahead, slowly tiptoeing towards it, making sure to not set off any traps. On the tenth step Latio felt the floor til he was standing on get pressed down by his weight. This set off a series of traps, the first being a pillar of flame descending upon him, and he would’ve been fried to the bone if he hadn’t jumped out of the way. The second was spikes jolting out of the floor he was laying on, which, out of luck, all missed, except one which cracked his biometal mask. The chrome-like material instantly fixed itself, and Latio stood up.

The final trap was four or five fireballs jolting from holes in the walls, then going back into one on the opposite side. They shot from all directions at every angle, sometimes colliding with each other, forming bigger fireballs that would split apart in midair. Latio listened carefully, trying to find a pattern, but he couldn’t. Let’s hope Lady Luck is still on my side he thought. He ran towards the maze of flames and narrowly dodged a fireball, before getting hit by a second one. His demonhide armour blocked it, fortunately, but he had to start again. This time he used his rapier to channel the hot air in the room into a shield of wind that covered most of his body, and easily walked through the flames. The door in front of him was made of bronze, and it had no lock. Latio shoved it open and walked into the final room.

The last room was bigger than any room Latio had ever been in, save the dome, which was big enough to contain everything that ever existed in any universe. The room was circular, and was surrounded by a ring of lava. A stone bridge connected the small, square platform Latio stood on to the arena in the middle, and after Latio had crossed it, it burst into flames, much like Gorin’s letters. In the center of the landmass was a circular pedestal which had a strange runic symbol on it. As the blind foxfolk neared the pedestal a bald warrior-monk landed in between Latio and the pedestal in the middle. He looked like the statues in the first room of the temple, and he was wearing loose karate-style pants and no shirt. He the same runic symbol tattooed on his back, and his hands were wreathed in fire.

“I am the guardian of this place, you have passed the trials of this holy temple and have proven yourself worthy to be its new guardian. I am the one you must defeat, your last trial.” The Guardian flipped backwards onto a red circle. “Are you ready to fight?”

Latio unsheathed the horizon scar. “I’m ready.” The second the blind warrior finished his two word sentence his weapons were set on fire and burnt to ashes, which were then blown into the ring of lava surrounding the large arena. Instantly Latio felt his strength increase, and he had a feeling of power, as if he had control of the air itself.

OoC: Guess where his weapons went.

BiC: “Hand to hand combat? I’ve never tried this before…” Latio said before getting kicked in the face by the Guardian’s bare feet.

“Pay attention, warrior.”

Latio rubbed his long snout. “Now I’m ready.” He responded. But I don’t think I can win… The foxfolk heard a punch whooshing towards his chest and caught a flaming fist, which burned his hands. Latio retaliated by sending a slight electric shock through the warrior-monk’s arm, though the confused foxfolk couldn’t figure out how.

“A thunder-mage? Why would someone like you want to guard a place like this?” the Guardian asked.

“I-I don’t know how I did that, but now I have a chance of beating you, it’s a very slim chance, but a chance nonetheless.” Latio responded. His claws were sharper than usual, but he wasn’t going berserk. What is this place doing to me? he thought. Oh well, I’m on a mission, better do it. The two warriors traded blows until the morning of the next day. They two were very tired, having no time to rest. Latio was the first to go down. His head hung over the boiling lava, and the Guardian stood over him.

“You were a worthy opponent, foxfolk, but now you must die.” The monk was ready to punch Latio into the lava…

OoC: Slow motion…

BiC: …the foxfolk caught his opponent’s arm and flung him over his head into the lava behind him.

“It had to be done…” Latio said aloud. He walked to the pedestal in the middle and sat cross-legged on it, and went into a meditating position. He could feel the runic symbol being traced on his bare back, and three wisp-like spirits appeared in a triangle around him. They looked like three fox tails, and they all matched Latio’s fur colour, but they each had a different colour tint, so slight that it was hardly noticeable, and they spoke.

“We are the wisps of the foxfolk. You have control of three of the nine elements, fire, wind, and lightning. We are yours to command…” they said, floating to Latio’s backside. From the front they looked like tails. “Latio, the three-tailed fox.”

Latio stood up, and found he could exit through a secret passageway hidden under the magma. He used his newfound power to part the lava, and walked through the hidden escape hole.

He exited through a hidden hole right beside the temple, and found Gorin being restrained by Isis and Erebus. “I’m not losing one of my men to one stupid mission!

OoC: Two and a half word pages. Also, Latio no longer has any weapons, he unwillingly absorbed them, resulting in sharper teeth and claws, and control over wind and lightning.
