Iced Over (LEA)

ooc: ok I will be using my newest character Cyno.

Cyno travelled over the harsh landscape, the winds blowing snow and Hail into his open coat. Cyno loved it when the weather was like this, he had more power, and he was always reminded of his mother and sister, which made him happy. The lake was no more than a days walk, and Cyno had to check to see how it was holding up against the attacks of the few demons left that roamed the land. Leaving the icy plane, he entered the white forest, whistling as he did. Suddenly there was a whistling noise to the side of him, which were the same tunes as he had been whistling. Cyno whistled again, and the other whistling copied him. Bringing out his dagger in preparation, Cyno whistled again and ran through the side of the forest. Something whistled again, and Cyno followed the noise. After a few moments he came to a clearing where a figure was stood in the middle, with its back turned to him.

ooc: sorry if it’s a bit short, I can’t write intro’s.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

OoC: Okay, I'm turning this into a teaching moment, so bear with me. First of all, besides the shortness, I noticed that you like to use your character's name almost annoyingly often. Instead of starting every sentence with your character's name, try to use subordinate clauses to change up your sentence structure. And instead of using your character's name over and over to refer to him, try using other terms to describe him. In Cyno's case, you could use phrases like, "Ice Elf" or just "Elf" or "Elven warrior" or "Ice wielder," etc. You get the idea. Try to come up with other terms to describe him with. It'll add variety to your posts and keep readers interested. Oh, and also, you don't need to capitalize "hail". With that said, I'll be using Sileya. Just as a note to anybody who reads this, chronologically, this will take place before Sileya gets summoned back to the Dome in Dragons' Soul.

IC:

It was cold, almost to the point of unbearable. However, the Elven warrior-summoner who trekked through the snow-laden forest did not allow the cold to touch her. The most sensitive part of her body were her pointed ears, but even they did not feel the freezing bite of winter's chill. Perhaps the inability of the cold to affect her was caused by her embracing of the Ancient Fire Dragon, Pyria. As she trod lightly on top of the snow-covered path that cut the dense growth of evergreens, Sileya felt Pyria brush at her consciousness.

Small One, you had better be grateful that I am here for you. Otherwise, your body temperature would probably be equivilent to Shilera's... A half-chuckle, half-growl rumbled inside Sileya's head as Pyria exhibited her amusement at her own jest.

The Elven summoner rolled her eyes and grinned to herself. She was glad of the company of the Dragons. Otherwise, her existence would be rather lonely. As she allowed her mind to caress their presences, she suddenly saw something move nearby. The Light Dragon, Lithiuan, anxiously touched her mind.

Be careful! There is something coming your way!

Sileya smiled. The Dragons, in all their majesty and power, cared so much for one as insignificant as she. The Elf knew she would never be able to repay them for that. Deciding that it would be her to choose where the possible confrontation would take place, Sileya slipped stealthily off through the thick trunks of the trees, whistling lightly as she went. Upon reaching a spacious clearing, she stopped, drew Drageziel from its elaborately-decorated sheath on her back, and waited.

OoC: Alrighty. Let's see what you can do against my Elf. Try to infuse your posts with as much sensory detail as possible. And also, it helps if you first type your posts in MSWord to check for any potential spelling or grammatical errors.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Ooc: Thanks for the tips

The figure in front of him was a woman, which the Ice Elf could tell instantly. On her back was a sheath for a broadsword, which was elaborately decorated. Her hair was a silver colour, streaked with traces of blue, and fell down to her waist. She was dressed in green pant and a blue shirt, with ankle high boots on her feet. Cyno’s jaw dropped. Even from the back the Ice elf could tell that this woman was incredibly beautiful. He was just about to approach when he noticed something, the woman had drawn her sword. I hope she’s not planning to use that. He slipped the dagger into his sleeve preparing to use it if necessary. The woman knew he was there, but still kept her back to him.

“Excuse me madam, but were you the one whistling to me?” Cyno said, cautiously approaching the woman.

“Maybe, were you the one following me?” she replied quickly and coolly.

“No”

“Where were you headed?”

“That’s none of your business, you may be cute, but you haven’t got any manners” The Ice elf was getting increasingly aware of the tensions between the two of them, and started to mess with his dagger for amusement, forming it into a small snow ball. He suddenly had a idea. Teach you to be rude. He threw the ball at the woman, and controled it so it would land on her head. But before it landed there was a sudden movement, and the snowball was gone.

“That wasn’t very smart” the woman said casually, and turned round. Once again the Ice elf’s jaw dropped. She was incredibly beautiful. Gawping at her, the Ice elf didn’t notice she was about to attack him. The woman jumped at him, bringing her sword down in a deadly overhead slash. Brining himself out of the trance, Cyno just had enough sense in him to move, and jumped to the left, the broadsword landing where he had been a second ago. From the ground, Cyno brought up a wall of solidified snow, making a barrier between the two.

“What was that for?” Cyno shouted angrily, forming Icilria into a short sword.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

OoC: Alrighty, more things to point out for you to work on. Look at these lines of dialogue you wrote:

Quote:

“That wasn’t very smart”
In all these cases, you need some form of punctuation to end the sentence. In the case of "No," you simply need to write it as "No." Lines of dialogue are still sentences and require punctuation. In the case of "That wasn't very smart," you need to put a comma after it, inside the second quotation mark, since you continue on to say "...the woman said casually..." Thus, the sentence should be written:

Quote:
"That wasn't very smart," the woman said casually and turned around.
Work on the punctuation. Your descriptions were fairly good, and you did an okay job writing Sileya's character. Just keep working at it, and you'll get better.

IC:

Straightening up from her slashing attack, Sileya held Drageziel lightly at her side. She was still occasionally amazed at how light the weapon was in her hands. It was so massive, almost a third the size of her body, and yet she could wield it effortlessly. The silvery blade reflected what little sunlight managed to stream through the dense growth of the pines and spruces that composed this wintery forest. Smiling amusedly, Sileya fixed her emerald gaze on the frozen barrier her opponent had constructed between them. She had noticed that he, too, was an Elf, although unlike herself, he seemed to know only ice magic. The Elven warrior-summoner grinned to herself. Having all eight of the elements at her disposal would put things heavily in her favor.

With little concentration or strain, Sileya called forth a medium-sized orb of flame to her hand and launched it straight at the icy barrier. Within mere seconds, the wall of ice had melted away, leaving her opponent dangerously exposed. Still with that confident grin on her face, Sileya created another orb of fire and held it steady in her hand.

"What do you think of my magic, Elf?"

Her adversary blinked in shock, holding his short sword protectively in front of him. "I did not think mere humans were capable of wielding such powers!"

Sileya smirked and tossed the ball of writhing flame to land inches away from the other Elf's feet. The snow there melted and evaporated instantly, leaving only bare, now-moist soil behind.

"Human? I haven't seen any humans around here."

Pushing back her shimmering hair, the summoner grinned again as her Elvish ears were exposed.

"I've only seen Elves myself. Oh, but I know there are Dragons around, too. Perhaps you will be privileged enough to meet them later."

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Muttering under his breath, Cyno began to back away from the woman. He knew when he was outmatched, and was not stupid enough to try to win a fight he knew he could not win.

Why do all the pretty ones have to be the deadliest?

Grabbing the blood shard from his belt, he pushed it to his chest, forming dark blue armour over every part of him. Even if he was fleeing, he wouldn’t give his opponent the chance to attack his unarmoured back.

If I can reach the trees, then I will have the advantage to get away.

The trees loomed nearer and nearer, and the ice elf was about to go free. Suddenly the earth underneath him came loose, making him fall flat on his face. There was a sudden running sound behind him, and there was a crack like a whip, followed by a thud. Cyno turned round to see the woman rubbing her arm, a deep mark blue in colour showing on her skin. Suddenly his armour returned to its original state, a giant dent in the back of it before it turned back to the shard.

Attacking someone while their on the ground, very unhonorable. If this woman wants a fight, she’s got one.

The ice elf had had enough, running away was now not a option, and the blood in his veins was crying for revenge. Striding forwards, Cyno brought up a ball of snow, compacting it until it was just a hardened ball of ice.

Come on, come on…

Suddenly the ball leaked three drops of darkest blue water, all which Cyno stopped from touching the ground with a quick movement of his hands, levitating them in mid air.

“Ice rules this place, giving me more power, increasing my skills. You on the other hand cannot become anymore powerful. Before you become a living statue, do you have anything to say?”

The woman smiled.

“What are you going to do with three droplets of water?”

“More damage than a forest fire” the ice elf replied coolly, dropping one of the droplets and throwing the remaining two at the woman. The one heading for the ground connected with it long before the other two reached the woman, and instantly the ground was covered in a thick sheet of ice, rapidly spreading to the trees around them, the woman, and completely freezing Cyno solid.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

The ice was spreading rapidly, but Sileya reacted with greater rapidity. Embracing the presence of Pyria, the Elf channeled Fire elemental energy through her body and projected it outward, forming a thick shield of flames all around her. The ice shooting towards her on the ground was abruptly halted, its seemingly tough surface melted easily by the dragonfire Sileya commanded. With great efficiency, the Elven summoner extended her barrier of fire farther out, dissipating the frozen onslaught as quickly as it had appeared.

The two droplets of freezing water colliding harmlessly with her shield, making a slight sizzling noise as they evaporated back into water vapor that would eventually freeze again. The roaring flames licked away the frozen wasteland and eventually swept over her frozen opponent, melting his cuccoon of ice. The female Elf raised an eyebrow.

"Why in the world did you think freezing yourself would help?"

When a wide swath of the forest had been thawed, Sileya silenced the dragonfire shield, the blazing flames swirling about her body for another moment before vanishing without a trace. She stared across at her opponent, who was still recovering from being frozen and thawed again so quickly.

Without waiting for an answer, Sileya whipped Drageziel around effortlessly into an attack position. She seemed to glide over the ground as she leaped toward the ice-wielding elf. Upon reaching him, she landed a blow to his chin with her elbow, temporarily dazing him and giving her the opportunity to strike him across his shins with the flat of Drageziel's silvery blade. In a swift, fluid follow-up, Sileya slammed the heel of her palm hard and straight against the other elf's chest, knocking him down on his back. Not allowing him any time to recover, the favored of the Ancient Dragons pressed her blade lightly against his throat, poised to kill.

"I wonder...if there's anything you can say to make me not kill you right now. After all, you did attack me, and I don't usually let anyone who attacks me live."

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Cyno began to laugh, his side hurting with it.

“As I said earlier, my power grows with my surroundings. Take a swipe at my head,” the ice elf laughed. The woman struck, her broadsword severing the head of the elf from its body. It fell to the floor, and instantly turned back to ice, as did the headless body.

“I didn’t freeze myself for no reason.” Came the voice of the elf from behind the woman, and turned round to see the other elf charging at her, an ice staff in his hands. Before she had time to react, he brought the top of the staff into the side of her head, knocking her off her feet. Even before she had landed, Cyno changed the staff into a razor thin sword, cutting the ground beneath her, revealing a small puddle of water, in which she landed. The woman landed on her side with a thud, straight in the water. Giving no chance to his opponent, he froze the liquid she was laid in, encasing half of her body in the ice. Knowing he had moments before she freed herself with her magic, He changed his weapon again this time to a bow, aiming the one arrow in it directly at the woman.

“Try anything and this arrow will stick your hand to the floor, even if I have one arrow I won’t miss,” the ice elf snapped.

“This battle won’t be finished as easily as this,” the woman replied, struggling against the ice encasing her.

“No one has to die, especially not me,”

“I will free myself from this pitiful block,”

“Try that little fire attack again and this arrow will feel your skin, you may be skilled, but melting magical items I bet isn’t one of them.”

Preparing to launch the arrow, Cyno pulled back his arm as the woman projected flames around her body again.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Simultaneously, as Sileya called forth the dragonfire again to free herself from her icy prison, she embraced the Light Dragon, Lithiuan, and formed a shimmering shield of radiant light around herself. The ice elf's deadly accurate arrow would indeed have met her flesh had it not been for her quick magical reflexes. Instead, the frozen projectile struck the light barrier, bouncing off harmlessly. Mere moments later, Sileya stood to her feet once again, Drageziel held dangerously in her hands.

"Nice trick, there. You can turn to ice and reform no matter what, eh? Does that mean you cannot die, then? Surely not." She grinned at him. "I'm sure I can find a way to dispatch you."

Her opponent stood ready to meet any sort of attack Sileya might bring against him, but rather than attacking, the Elven summoner smiled.

"I don't believe that I know your name, strange elf. Would you care to tell me, perhaps?"

The male elf snorted quietly. "Only if you tell me your name first," he snapped back.

Sileya's pleasant smile turned into one of her grins again. "Fine, have it your way. I have no qualms about telling you who I am." She cleared her throat before continuing. "My name is Sileya, and I am the Chosen of the Ancient Elemental Dragons."

A confused look briefly crossed the ice elf's face. "Ancient Elemental Dragons?"

Laughing softly, amused by her adversary's befuddlement, Sileya replied. "Yes, the Dragons that I mentioned earlier. I told you that you might be privileged enough to meet some of them later...when I summon them to my aid."

The other elf balked. "You can summon dragons? Of different elements?"

"That's correct, my foe. Now, I upheld my end of the deal. How about you hold up yours?"

Her opponent appeared hesitant but finally relented. "My name is Cyno."

"Good. See? That wasn't too painful. Now, let's see if you can find a way out of this!"

Since she had defended herself against Cyno's arrow, Sileya had not released her hold on the consciousnesses of Pyria and Lithiuan. Channeling Fire and Light elemental through her body, the Elven female sent a wave of fire mingled with pure light roaring with great alacrity toward her icy opponent.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Ooc: Cyno doesn’t have the power to reform, he can just make duplicates of himself using ice, it’s a lesser version of his move Bloodsword warrior, and takes less energy.

Laughing again, Cyno stood and took the blast, the body shattering into a million pieces of ice. The woman looked around, trying to find the real ice elf. Suddenly she felt a cold edge against the back of her neck.

“Be still, even your fire powers cannot melt this blade. Move and your neck pays the price,” Cyno said coolly.

“Why should I?” Sileya retorted, swinging her broadsword round, cutting the elf in half, shattering into shards of ice.

“Face me coward!” the dragon summoner shouted angrily, whirling around in every direction. From his hiding place in the trees on the edge of the clearing, Cyno silently laughed to himself. This was fun, while she wasted her energy on the clones, he grew stronger with every passing second. Soon even the woman’s fire magic wouldn’t be any good. Conjuring another three clones, he sent them to surround the woman. Within a few moments she had dispatched them with ease, but he didn’t care so long as she wasted her energy, and her getting angry was a bonus. Fighters that were angry were easier to fight. Suddenly he felt more powerful, and knew where every part of ice and snow were in the clearing.

“Let this truly battle begin,” the ice elf grunted, the power from his surroundings flowing through him. Jumping down from the tree with one swift leap, he began walking towards the woman. The woman watched as he approached, obviously thinking he was another clone. Before he got any closer, he grabbed the blood shard from around his neck again, forming the armour over himself again.

“Are you going to pose as the original?” Sileya said casually, and threw a ball of fire at him. With a swift punch from his gauntlets, the fire ball was sent circling up into the sky.

“Fraid I am the original,” Cyno grunted, his dark blue eyes gleaming with the power they held. The woman looked surprised that he had finally decided to do his own fighting, and attacked, slashing forward with her broadsword. With boredom in his eyes, the ice elf side stepped her attack, bringing an armour plated knee into her stomach, knocking the wind out of her. She landed with a thud on the ground.

“My power has grown by quite a bit since we began, and still grows. Do not make me kill you,” Cyno said coldly.

“You would never be able to, my power still wins over yours,” Sileya replied, slowly getting up from the ground. Within three seconds Cyno had summoned another ice ball, crushing the droplets out much faster than before. With a flick of his wrist, all three landed directly on the woman, two on her feet, one on her sword. Instantly three giant chunks of ice appeared, flattening her to the ground as they covered most of her body.

“Those were not as powerful as the last ones, though you probably can’t tell the difference since the ice compacting you is dropping your body heat to dangerous levels. Even the dragons that help you have their own troubles, the ice leeches at magical items as well as people. But you shall not see what happens to them,” the ice replied coldly, and formed his dagger into a scythe, and brought it down directly at Sileya’s neck.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Things suddenly seemed to move in slow motion, the events creeping by as if it would take hours for Cyno's scythe to connect with Sileya's neck.

The female Elf smirked. "You think I can be beaten that easily, do you? I have yet to unleash my full potential upon you."

Her emerald eyes shone with a defiant light as she embraced Pyria, this time channeling the blazing fire energy throughout her body to increase her plummeting body temperature and to melt her icy restraints. She was free not a moment too soon as she gracefully danced out of the way of Cyno's attack. The frozen scythe sliced uselessly through the empty air where she had stood mere nanoseconds ago and bit hard into the frosty ground.

"Too slow," Sileya taunted.

As Cyno concentrated on removing his lodged weapon, Sileya flipped around to leap straight at him, blazing-white fire energy practically pouring off her broadsword's blade. Upon reaching the ice elf, she smashed the flat of the blade into the side of his head, releashing the fire energy upon him. Leaping backwards, the Favored of the Ancient Dragons manipulated the flames surrounding her opponent to tightly constrict his body.

Cyno responded to this assault by dropping to the ground and rolling to extinguish the scorching fire. Sileya smirked again and merely dissipated the flames herself, observing as her icy adversary lay on the ground, smoke rising in ethereal tendrils from his body. In moments, however, he was back on his feet and charging at Sileya, scythe swinging at her body once more.

The Elven summoner shook her head, grinning, and nimbly side-stepped, bringing Drageziel around to slam its ruby pommel into the back of Cyno's neck. The ice elf collapsed to the ground but twisted his body around to quickly face upward toward his female opponent. He lashed out viciously with his scythe, attempting to throw Sileya off balance to give himself enough time to regain his feet, but she effortlessly blocked his strike. The two stayed locked like that for several minutes, each trying to gain the upper hand against the other. Sileya's eyes were practically sparkling with amusement.

"Nice scythe."

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Having a sudden idea, Cyno smirked inwardly. Pushing his head up past the two weapons, the ice elf kissed the woman before she could stop it. The sneak attack surprised her, making her stop pushing as hard, giving Cyno the advantage. Breaking away, the elf skidded across the ground stopping a few feet away. The other elf had gone slightly red from the kiss, and was charging furiously at him, her emotion clouding her judgement. Bringing up his weapon, the ice elf changed it into a exact copy of Sileya’s broadsword, brought it out just as the woman attacked, a clanging sound emitting as the touched. The woman was pushing harder than before, forcing Cyno gradually backwards. Trying another sneak attack, Cyno pushed his head past the two weapons again and kissed the woman, but before he could break contact, the woman pushed her sword upwards, trapping Cyno’s neck on the blade.

“That was uncalled for,” the elf said, raising the blade, cutting deeper in the ice elf’s neck.

“It was worth it,” Cyno chuckled, and was rewarded with more pain. Taking his chance at the woman unprotected body, the elf brought his foot into her stomach, temporarily winding her and letting the other elf fall to the floor. Almost as soon as he landed, the blood from the wound froze, sealing the wound. The elf got up, swinging her broadsword as though it was as light as a feather.

“How long do you think you will last? Your tricks have saved you up till now, but you still have no chance against the dragons,” the woman said casually, gradually drawing closer to Cyno. Wary of what the sword could do, the elf formed his weapon into longsword, attaching it to the gauntlets of his armour. With a swift movement, the ice elf moved backwards out of the armour, which instantly filled itself with ice from the floor.

“My tricks, as you call them, will survive this day,” Cyno shouted. With a click, the armour began to move, faster than any eye could follow.

“Say hello to Bloodsword warrior, another fancy trick I picked up. If he touches you, you will become encased in the armour, just so you know, and remember, it is unmeltable,” Cyno said, sitting down to watch the fight. The woman tried to attack him, but before she got three steps the ice warrior was in front of her, slashing at her with its sword.

Re: Iced Over (LEA)

Effectively blocking the slashing attack from the icy armor, Sileya danced backwards a few paces. That infernal, soulless armor stood in between her and that cheeky elf. She wanted to rend his body limb from limb with her bare hands. The audacity of his actions grated on her, and she found herself grinding her teeth together. Suppressing the growl that threatened to loose itself from her throat, Sileya blocked another strike from the lunging armor.

Back and forth, the two combatants fought, Sileya always one step ahead of the bodiless armor. She moved with a grace that could only be attributed to her Elven heritage. Drageziel was like an extension of the female Elf's body, whirling in a blur as she effortlessly blocked the advances of the frozen armor. From his resting place, Cyno chuckled, mockingly throwing Sileya's previous words back at her.

"How long do you think you will last? You can't keep defending forever, pretty one. Eventually, you'll run out of your seemingly endless stamina. Until then, I'll take great pleasure in watching your body move." He grinned wolfishly in her direction.

Sileya had had enough. This elf was rapidly moving higher up on her list of most hated people ever. Using the vast majority of her physical strength, she slammed her broadsword hard in the side of the armor, knocking it several paces back and into a nearby tree trunk. It lay there as if stunned momentarily, allowing Sileya to turn her emerald eyes, which were now practically burning with fury, onto Cyno. She wiped at her mouth and spit vehemently onto the snow.

"Nobody, and I mean NOBODY kisses or even TOUCHES me without my permission and LIVES to tell about it!!"

Cyno's grin faltered for a brief moment, but Sileya was not paying attention to him. She had lept upward onto a thick, supple branch of a nearby pine and was deep in concentration. She suddenly felt a presence brush her mind.

Small One, let me destroy him for you. I'll make him feel despair like he's never known.

Alright.

The ground underneath Cyno and his armor began to look differently than it had mere moments ago. It seemed to sink down gradually, forming a shallow depression in the earth. And then, from the ground right in the center of the depression, thick, crimson liquid bubbled up, filling the area rapidly. Cyno gaped at the spectacle. The blood had reached him by now as it continued to flow from the earth. Warily, he glanced around, expecting the worst.

"What is the meaning of this?" he shouted up at Sileya. "What do you hope to gain by soaking me in a little blood?"

Sileya simply smiled coldly down at him.

Complete silence reigned over the area for what seemed an eternity, and the ice elf began to feel his hairs stand on end. He finally decided he would head for the shore, but the second he moved, a gigantic form burst out of the blood mere inches away from Cyno. Slezyn, the Ancient Dragon of Shadow, had come to call. With a roar, the enormous creature slammed hard into the ground right next to the incapacitated armor. Using his cruelly-curved claws, the Dragon smashed apart the accursed menace before turning his smoldering red eyes onto the cowering Cyno.

Manipulating the shadows provided by the tree shade, Slezyn formed a long, solid black projectile and hurled into toward the ice elf, purposefully missing him by centimeters. He roared again and lashed his thick, club-like tail into the pool of blood, spraying the sticky substance all over Cyno.

What should I do next, Small One? Shall I give him a close-up look of the underworld?

Hold on for the moment.

Sileya, still perched in her tree, glared down at her opponent. "I'll have you know that Slezyn strongly desires to send your body down into Hell, but I'm giving you a chance to run like the low-life you are, if you want to live."
