Neon Lights (1-on-1)

OoC: Okay, this is a one-on-one fight. I will be using my character, Sora. She's been upgraded a few times, so be careful.

BiC:

A crisp breeze blew through the night air as Sora walked down the street, moving her long black hair around. She walked down the middle of the smooth tar street, her steps making a light flat sound, while the sidewalk on each side was cracked with age and growing plants. The brick shops on both sides were closed for the night, though they were hardly empty. A laundromat, restaurants, bars, and other various places had all closed up for the night, to the public, anyway. Illegal dealings were always going on, that’s how this city was. But the neon lights that denoted each shop still cast light. Their bright glows flickered on and off, creating strange looking shadows that adorned the area.

The female sighed softly. Places like this hardly frightened her, in fact, they were slightly calming. But she had a job to do. Her green and red eyes scanned the street, focusing on anything that moved. A person, probably a daemon, had been spotted around this street causing trouble. They hadn’t been attacking anyone, fortunately, but damaging property. So I get hired to bring in the troublemaker, she thought. Jobs like this were hardly any fun, didn’t pay too well, but were fairly easy. Besides, Sora need money to pay off her apartment’s rent. It isn’t even that great of a place to live. I only stay there ‘cause it’s cheap but, somehow, I still can’t seem to pay it. She kick a pebble down the road in frustration. The wind came up again and a paper wrapping glided across the street. It was a mild night, maybe in the low 70s, and the breeze was a nice coolant. The hunter turned an idyll gazed upwards to the heavens. The stars would have been a beautiful sight but the pollution from the city lights had blocked them out long ago. Instead, the neon lights shone with ferocity as though they never wanted anyone to see the stars again.

I really need to stop spacing out, Sora decided. She looked over the area once again, just to make sure she hadn’t missed a thing. But the neon shadows made it partially difficult to discern living from non. So, the hunter figured she’d try to get whoever’s attention the easy way. “Hey! Is anyone here!?” she shouted into the darkness. She really didn’t expect the person, or anyone, to answer. But she got one in the form of footsteps from behind.

OoC: Your char doesn't have to be a daemon. They can just be someone here at the wrong time.

Ooc: I'll fight you, since I haven't had a good fight in a while. I'll use Shigeru, so this fight'll be interesting.

Bic: Shigeru had been traveling for at least a week now. He hadn't found much food, and was exhausted. He had been eating whatever people had pity to give him, so he decided to get luck in the city. He walked around, and saw all the shops closed and the streets empty. He walked into a nearby alley, and found some scraps of food. Despite his attitude, Shigeru had no choice but to eat like a homeless person for once.

"Hey! Is anyone here?" said a voice.

Going by his first thoughts, Shigerus decided to rob this person, wait till dawn for the shops to open, and then buy a decent meal. Shigeru walked out from the alley, and towards the person...

Sora turned around to find the source of the footsteps. Her eyes met an young man around her age. His spiky blond hair was somewhat dirty and was he was wearing a brown kimono and pants underneath. Where's this guy from, Japan? she thought as she inspected him. Well, he's no daemon but he could still be the one causing trouble. "Who are you?" the hunter asked.

The man's red eyes blinked in surprise and had a hint of fear in them. "Um...um..." he stuttered. Oh brother, Sora rolled her eyes. The stranger stood still, his mouth moving but no words coming out.

"Look, I don't have time for someone like you," she stated.

Then it seemed like the man found his voice. "Hand over what money you have and I won't hurt you," he said with a cold voice. Sora just looked at him, He's kidding, right? Five seconds ago, he couldn't even say anything. Besides, the whole reason I took this job was 'cause I'm poor.

She waved her hand at him, "I already told you, I don't have time, unless you have something else in mind." She fluttered her eyes at him. Immediately, he glupped and started to stuttered again. The hunter shook her head and started to walk away. Suddenly, she heard a loud cracking sound. The hunter turned to see a chunk of sidewalk floating the air and the man moving his limbs in a controlled fashion.

"I am Shigeru, a name you will remember," he said cooly and then flung the chunk of sidewalk at her. Sora had time to move out of the way, Okay, I guess he's serious. Sora summoned the power of Omni and wind magic flowed out of the crystal creating the wind rapier, Zephyr.

"I'm Sora and I'm gonna kick your butt."

Shigeru stood in battle stance, waiting for this woman's next move. Although he felt a bit of fear, he had to overcome this fear to win. The woman jabbed at Shigeru, and he quickly pulled out his staff. He knocked the sword to the side with his staff, leaving the woman defenseless. Shigeru tried to swing, but his fear overcame him. He stood there, and couldn't move a muscle. The woman ran to her sword, and quickly picked it up.

Why didn't he attack? though the women. He could've finished me right there.

Shigeru stood there, trying to hold his emotions. He was completely scared of this woman, especially since she was skilled with the sword. he had no idea what other moves she had up her sleeve, so Shigeru had to keep up his guard.

"I'm not going to ask you again..." said Shigeru. "Give me your money!"

He swung his staff at her, and made a gust of wind blow at the woman at the same time. The blow pushed her back, but Shigeru hadn't even hit her. He began punching, and fireballs flew at the woman.

Shigeru's fireballs streaked towards the woman. But they hardly worried her. He's an elementist, eh, Sora smiled, Well, two can play at that game. She allowed Zephyr to return to Omni and summoned the ice falchion, Zero. Then she took off running. Most fireballs managed to miss her and those that got close were hit by Zero were knocked away, not being able to melt the icy sword. She faced the man once all the fireballs had been dispelled, "You're going to have to do better than that."

Shigeru glared at her. He pulled out a common-looking water skin and opened it. Great, what now, the hunter questioned. He started moving his arms in a whip-like motion and the water that had been in the skin started flowing out like a snake. "I won't go easy on a women like you," he said with malice. Then he lashed the water out like a whip, too fast for Sora to dodge, and wrapped it around her neck. It started to tighten, slowly choking her. She grasped at it, but only managed in getting her hands wet. You want to play rough? Sora asked sliently. She allowed Zero to return to the crystal and summoned a beautiful purple rose from the Earth Medallion that was in her pocket. A sweet fragrance filled the air. Shigeru looked questioningly at the flower, "What do you expect to do with that?" The water around her throat tightened more. Just wait and see.

Sora threw the rose into the tar where, despite the solid material, the flower sank into the ground. She smiled at the man and he glared back. "This battle has gone on long enough," he stated and the pressure on her neck started to become unbearable. But then, a large vine, three feet in diameter, and covered in thorns shot out of the ground and headed straight for the elemental bender. He barely jumped out of the way, a thorn grazing him slightly on the left leg, as the vine barreled into the ground where he had been standing. The water around Sora's neck splashed to the ground and she started coughing.

"That'll show you," she rasped at the man. The tendril came out of the ground once again and glided towards Shigeru. But he stood his ground and started punching at it, launching fireballs. The vine caught fire but still had enough momentum to carry itself to the point where he was standing. Perfect, the hunter thought. Calling her best sword, Seraphim, Sora jumped towards the man, his attention still on her burning tendril.

Shigeru was ready for this vine, and swung his arms forward. A large boulder of conrete emerged from the ground, and hit the vine. The vine was knocked back, and struggled a bit to get back up. The woman then leapt at Shigeru and swung at him with her sword. Shigeru quickly blasted wind at her, and pushed her back in mid-air. She landed on her feet, and tried to keep balance.

The vine had gotten out from under the boulder, and went again for Shigeru. He quickly blasted fire at it, and made it burst into flames again. He then blasted wind at the flaming vine, making smoke surround the area. Shigeru began dodging the lashes the vine made at him, and he began swinging his arms around, controlling the smoke with his air bending skills. The vine then lashed as Shigeru once more, but he quickly pulled out his staff. He blocked the blow, but the vine managed the scratch Shigeru's left hand.

Shigeru blasted the vine back, and lifted a boulder and placed it once again on the vine. The woman then ran out from the smoke, and at the sound of Shigeru's movement. She obviously couldn't see, but she swung out at whatever she heard. Shigeru tried dodging the sword, so he pulled out his staff. She hit the corner of his staff, cutting it nearly off.

"Okay, bad idea to use the staff..." said Shigeru.

He blasted wind at her once again, but she strafed it. She went for another strike, but missed. He then punched at her, and hit her in the chest, sending her backwards. Shigeru then stood there, feeling as if he tried to kill a dragon. He knew this was a female, whom he feared, but there was something more to her.

"Since you are clearly at a disadvantge..." said Shigeru. "I'd like to know your name..."

"Fine then..." said the woman. "My name is Sora Atichae...now prepare to get beat up!"

The vine then lashed at Shigeru, but he strafed, and whacked the vine down towards the ground.

He's not bad, Sora commented as the vine was knocked to the ground. She was having fun with his fight, though it seemed Shigeru didn't have the same feelings. Then tendril started to rise again, but Sora willed it to stay down. Even though it was on a timer, she would need it soon. Then she summoned the dark magic from Omni, while still keeping Seraphim out, and the two merged into Baal, the light and dark katana. The hunter smiled at him, I haven't been able to use Omni's duel forms in a battle yet, let's see how they fair.

She charged at Shigeru again. He used his air bending to send another wave of air at her, but Sora had seen that move too many times and easily sidestepped it. She got close enough to start slashing at him but he jumped back. Okay, time to use some actual strategy. Sora told the vine to start moving again, to go behind him. The female rushed him again, trying to get him between the two. He saw her coming and turned to jump out of the way, until he saw the vine coming from the other direction. "Now I've got you," she stated. But Shigeru moved his arms in a bending fashion, and a large gust of air sent him high into the air. Woah, Sora had time to think then barely managed to duck as the thorny vine sailed over her head. Alright, let's not try that one again, she decided.

"You won't defeat me," the man proclaimed. Sora simply smiled and leaped towards him. He easily blew her away with a blast of wind but failed to notice the vine once again. It curled around his left ankle, holding on tight and digging it's thorns into him. The hunter landed nimbly on the ground and look back at him with triumph on her face.

"Let's see you get out of this." With that, she leaped towards Shigeru again. The tendril's time was almost up but she was sure this attack would land a blow.

Shigeru's leg was being pierced by thorns, and Sora was closing in, and fast. He had to his own safety to win this fight, so he waited until she was close, and performed a hand-stand. His pierced leg ached with pain as he moved it upwards, and the Sora's sword continued to move. The sword moved through the air with great speed, and almost hit Shigeru. The sword continued to go, and hit the vine holding Shigeru's leg.

The vine leg go on Shigeru's leg, and Shigeru quickly kicked at the woman with his good leg, and managed to kick her back. She was pushed back, and the vine fell to the ground, cut in half. Shigeru then went back on his two feet. Shigeru thought he had the advantage, now that the vine was gone, but Shigeru then felt a great deal of pain on his right leg. He then looked, and saw a cut mark that was beginning to bleed.

"Hmm..." said Sora. "It seems that I got you."

Sora attack hadn't gone exactly as planned with the kick in the back and all but she had managed to hurt him. The tendril had cut his right ankle and blood started leaking from the wound. That should slow him down somewhat, though I still need to watch out for his bending skills.

"Barely," Shigeru replied to her remark. She smiled at him, I haven't had this much fun in a while. The bender started to move again and chunks of sidewalk were lifted into the air. About six piece rose up and floated there for just a second before two were hurtled at her. The hunter nimbly dodge to the right to find another chunk heading for her. She jumped back and into the path of another. I...don't think I can dodge them all, Sora realized. She leaped away from the fourth but, to her dismay, the fifth intercepted her. She altered her course a tad and the rock grazed against her left leg, ripping the pantleg and drawing some blood. The female landed and dodged the final one. "It seems I've have gotten you now," the man stated.

"Watch," Sora replied and resummoned the purple rose. This time, she plucked five petals, out of the twenty it had, and held them against her wound. The petals disappeared but healed the wound completely. "Nice trick, huh?" Shigeru said nothing but put himself in a readied stance. Guess I need to watch out for his next attack.

Shigeru decided to get a bit complex, since this fight would be quite long. Although his legs were a bit weak, he could hold Sora off. He made another boulder come from the ground, but added a twist. He made water come from his water skin, and made it mix with the concrete. Slowly, the rock turned into mud, and it became a dense and heavy blob hanging in the air. Shigeru threw a part of the mud at Sora, and almost hit her. Sora strafed the attack, and rushed Shigeru. He then made the mud go in the form of a large wall, and protected himself from the sword strike she just made. Shigeru then made the mud fall towards her, but she had jumped back, dodging it.

She's good, but i'll have to do better to survive. thought Shigeru.

He then let the mud stay on the ground, whch provided a small barrier between the two. He then lifted his arms, and made Sora get off the ground.

"What the?!" said Sora.

Shigeru grinned. He then threw her towards a wall, and made her slam into it, all by the use of water bending. Shigeru quickly made part of the water in the mud come out, and float in front of himself. He then made the water turn into steam, which made nothing visible. Sora was lying on the ground, trying to get up. She couldn't see a thing, but that wouldn't stop her from fighting.

"Now, let's see what you've got." said Shigeru.

Despite this leg injury, i've got the upper hand. thought Shigeru. So I better play my cards right...

Sora forced herself off the ground, despite protests from her back. Man, being thrown into a wall hurts, she decided. And all the steam didn't help her visiblity. Okay, concentrate, the hunter told herself. Where would Shigeru attack from next? Let's see... Air would just blow the steam away so he wouldn't do that. Earth would be too loud and I think he may have used up his water, I don't know, so... She knew, and just in time. Two fireballs went whizzing past her as she dodged to the side. Looking through the holes they had made, Sora perceived the bender, with a disappointed face, run off to attack from another side. I'll never make progress just jumping around in this stupid mist. She summoned the fire element from her crystal to form the twin swords, Nova, and waited for his next move. Two more fireball came through the steam but she didn't move. Instead, she allowed them to harmlessly hit her two swords.

Now! Sora barreled out of the fog in the direction of the fiery attack. There she saw the bender with a somewhat surprised look on his face. She was closer to him, close enough for a strike. But Shigeru made the first move and, wreathing his foot in flame, kicked at her head. His foot met the left Nova, fire against fire. "You won't be rid of me that easily," she told Shigeru. The female slashed towards his arm. He quickly dropped his foot and used his air bending to scoot out of the way but not before his right arm was nicked by the red blade of Nova. She twirled the two blades in her hands as the man landed a few feet away, "Don't take me too lightly."

Shigeru scowled as a few drops fell from the new wound, "This could have bee avoided if you had just given me your money. Don't expect me to show mercy."

Great, now my right arm is bleeding. thought Shigeru. If I don't hurry up, this fight will end with me losing all my blood!

Shigeru was ready for Sora's next attack, which was a very good move. Sora began slashing at Shigeru, would dodged the slashes and strikes from her swords. Shigeru then crouched, dodging her again, and uppercutted her from below. Sora flew back a few feet, but she gained balance in mid-air, and landed perfectly. Shigeru then, made all the steam in the battle field come back to him, and join back to make liquid water in front of him.

Sora ran at Shigeru once again, and swung quickly at him with her right hand. Shigeru side-stepped, and made the water in front of him push Sora back. Shigeru then began blasting balls of wind at Sora, and then kicked at her with his right leg in an arc-like motion, making a large arc of flame come towards Sora.

Shigeru's flaming kick connected on Sora's right arm, knocking her back a few feet. She gave him a slight glare, a battle can only be fun for so long. Now the front of her poncho was wet from the water that the bender had used to keep her off and his kick had burned through the green cloth and had slightly burned her arm. But the man hardly gave her any time to form an idea as he sent waves of air at her. She held up both swords to block the wind but it still managed to push her back. While he was doing that, Shigeru also lifted another piece of sidewalk, which would now need a lot of repairs, and flung it at her. The hunter jumped aside but was caught off balance by the air that he was still sending towards her. You want to fight long range? she asked silently. Using the magic of her new necklace, she sent back Nova and covered her right hand with holy magic and her left with dark magic. Then she shot both at the bender, who replied with his own fireballs. The magic collided in mid-flight, cancelling the other out with a small explosion.

"You won't win, Sora," he announced.

She looked back at him, "Really? Let's find out." Sora called up Omni's magic, calling the combination of ice and fire into the twin swords, Degree. Their curved, fiery blades and crystal blue hilts danced in the neon lights. She charged at Shigeru, who countered with more fireballs. She knocked these harmlessly aside to find another chunk of rock heading at her. But instead of dodging it, she jumped onto it and used it to propel herself even faster to the bender. The females slashed with her duel-form swords, the bender covering his own hands in fire to stave off the sharp blades. Her swordsmanship was good but so was his knowledge of martial arts. As long as I keep him on the defensive, he can't use his limbs for elemental bending, Sora thought. But he was doing well with just fire bending. She ducked under a flaming kick and countered with the swords. He dodged thoses and tried to uppercut the hunter again. But she had seen that move and stepped back to avoid it. Sora tried to attack the exposed arms but met fire-engulfed hands. Both warriors had no intention of backing down.
