Fishing Town and Temple Ruins (Three, Any)

OoC: First, I would like to ask for low or moderate chars only. The plot is that you all somehow to this large fishing town where you hear of an ancient temple lost somewhere in the forest to the west. Or if you like you can come to the town knowing about it already. Somewhere within the lost temple is a magical artifact that you can keep if you win it in the final battle between all four of us.

I have made a map in paint for reference. Man, I really go overboard with these things. Theres the town,
the trade roads, the lakes surrounded by sandy areas, two clearings in the thop right corner in the woods, and the temple ruins in the bottom left.

BiC: "Why did it have to be a fishing town? Why, gods, why?" Darkcloud said in misery to the uncaring sky. The two travelers stood on the side of the road, one with his violet eyes unfocused in concentration, the other carefully watching for trouble.

"Because," Brightwind said, coming out of his trance, "the gods hate you and do everything they can to make you meiserable."

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Oh, yes, your quite the funny one arn't you? And just how did you, living in your sheltered little workroom, manage to become immune to this stench?" Darkcloud asked mockingly.

Brightwind smiled at him and replyed innocently, "Oh, I suppose I must have gotten my love of the water from some beneign god. Oh, how nice it is to be loved by even the gods themselves." Darkcloud glared at him, but couldn't help the twitching of the corners of his mouth. Quickly turning and walking to the gate leading into the town so that his twin couldn't see him smiling, he asked, "And what did you find by the way? You're in a good mood, which means you must have found the trail again." Brightwind smiled and laughed at the break down in hid brother's usually serious mood.

"Yes, I foud it again. It is very strong. Its probably just on the other side of this town. And, I've also managed to indentify what this mysterious magic that has been calling me is." He waited for his brother to ask him what it was, but was beginning to become dissapointed as his twin only kept walking.

Not this time 'Wind. This time I'll win. Darkcloud thought wickedly to himself. Brightwind frowned and followed him asking, "Well? Don't you want to know what it is?" Darkcloud only shrugged. Brightwind sighed in exasperation and conceded.

"Fine. Be that way. Its an artifact. A powerful one too."

"Really? Well I'm glad we're almost there; I'm tired of you dragging me all over the planes. Come on, the first thing we need to do is get into town for the night." And with that, he sped up, forcing his twin to run to keep up.

Ooc: ok ok I'll join, I got to admit, it was the map that pulled me in haha. Hey I want to comment, on your characters,...very nice, I like the whole brother thing. the best Ive seen in awhile. Meteora is in my sig.

Bic: Meteora has been riding on this trade road for a whole day without rest.

I must keep on....this guy must not live through the night. He thought as he was about to doze off.

A strong scent of fish filled the air. This woke the assassin right up. He knew that the town must be right ahead. So he hopped off the horse and immediantly grabbed his back.

Arggggg! never will I ride for so long without stretching again!

He grabbed the purse packed full with gold coins, threw it up, caught it, and shoved it in his cloak pocket.

The money makes all of this traveling worth it! He thought as he mushed the horse back down the road the way they came.

Meteora pulled his hood over his head and began the walk into the town.

When he arrived into the town it was all pretty quiet; all but a small tavern/inn. It was called "The Guppies" and it was the place Meteora came all this way for.

Well he should be in there somewhere The assassin thought as he entered the building.

When he walked in he pulled his hood back down and looked around. hhhmmmmm he thought as he glanced at all the faces. None of the drunks at the bar even come close to the discription.
Meteora waved the bartender over.

"Yes, what would you like darlin?" She said with a smile that revealed all three of her teeth.

Disgusted Meteora answered, " Well I have an urgent messege for Maght Klout, and I was told he was always here. I realize it is very late but have you seen him?"

"Urgent eh? Well yea of course, I do believe old Maght is sleepin upstairs, in room ah,......12 I think it is." She replied.

Without anymore words Meteora walked passed her and headed up the stairs.

"Well, uh,... good luck sugar!" She yelled after him.

The assassin stood outside of room 12, took a deep breath, drew his dagger and entered. When he opened the door the man was wide awake staring at him.

"Wait! please don't! I will tell you of a hidden temple were there is said to be treasure!" The old man yelled as Meteora shut the door.

"Wow, straight to the poin eh? ....WELL SPEAK!!!"

"oook,..ok,... It is hidden in the woods....and...and thats all I know.....Look im really sor...." The man couldnt finish his sentence because Meteora'a dagger made a hole through his throat.

"Learn to pay your debts old man." Meteora whispered as he threw the body to the ground with a sheet over it.

Meteora then lay in the man's bed to catch some sleep. He couldnt help but wonder what the man was talking about.

Ooc: if my new character gets approved soon I'll bring her in. Because she is Meteora's cousin and then it would be a family thing. haha

OoC: That would be fine, though I still want two other people besides us.

OoC: Can I reserve the third spot? Gotta go to a party...

OoC: I saw this and I haven't had a good battle in awhile, but my mom is yelling at me, I'll reserve the fourth spot now, post later today, or tomorow (nice map by the way). I'll be using Rec (link in sig, click her name), you should read up on her.

OoC: Ok, you're both reserved. Why do I keep ending up fighting the same people?

EDIT: Oh, and I keep forgeting, PR, thanks. My characters are my creations, though I based them on a race (including their race's history) from a book series. And thanks all around for your comments on my map. Its just something I did in paint in ten minuets. Like I said, I go overboard with these kinds of things.

Are you asking what it means, or what race the character is?

BiC: "Treasure, you say?" Latio had overheard rumours in town about a hidden temple with some kind of artifact in it. He'd made a hobby of collecting arious artifacts, and so he thought that he'd expand his very small collection.

"Yes, sir, here's a map, I'll sell it to you for one hundred rupees." the old man who was 'advertising' the temple's legend had made a hefty sum selling these maps.

"I don't need a map."

"Oh, ok then." he started selling the maps again, then told out loud that the temple was west from the fishing town

"West, eh?" Latio said to himself, as he walked into the forest.

OoC: What it means.

BiC: The foxman walked down the forest path, his superb hearing picking up animals all around him.

"West huh? I gone "west" for an hour now, and I havn't found any temple. I guess-" His musing was cut short as a burst of air shot by him.
"What! Whos there?!" He listened, straining his hearing, but he heard nothing.

"Go on, show yourself!" He yelled. His anwser was one that made him wince in pain as a hawk screeched and took off over the canopy.

"Stupid. Getting all worked up over a bird." He relaxed a bit, though he was still a bit more ongaurd than he was before.

:Person up ahead.: Vree mindspoke his bondmate as he backwinged onto his gauntlet. :Foxperson.: Darkcloud started a little at that. "What do you mean "foxperson''?" Brightwind put his hand on his his twin's shoulder.

"Calm yourself. I think I know what he means. I've heard of an old race of a half human, half fox type of people. Karis is watching this strange person now. Just hold on a moment, and I'll link with him."

Brightwind closed his eyes, sending his mind to meld with the owl that he was bonded to. As their minds met, Brightwind opened his eyes, though what he saw was from above, in a branch. There was a strange foxman walking slowly down the path, his eyes closed. Brightwind broke the link and turned to his brother.

"I was right. Its some kind of foxperson. I wonder what he is doing here?"

"What any other person would be doing out here in the middle of nowhere. The same thing we're doing. If your right about the power we're tracking, then he is heading right for it. And I doubt its by accident."

Brightwind nodded. "Then we must hurry. He isn't that far ahead. Maybe we can go around him and avoid a confrontation."

"Fine, whatever. Lets just hurry and go before its too late."

OoC: Okay, postin time, I’ll be using Rec (link in sig, click her name).

BiC: Rec had been traveling the trade route for months. Her brother Rio had taken a quest at Mt. Sinion, leaving her to do whatever she wanted to. Her brother suggested to follow the trade route.
“It’ll be good for you, you’ll see new things, meet new people, maybe get in a fight or two, tone you magic skills,”

“I don’t know, what if something happens to me?”

“Don’t tell me you are scared. I thought you weren’t scared of anything,”

Rec, at this insult, immediately deepened her voice, “I’m not scared!”

“Okay than, off I go,” and with that, Rio was gone.

A few months later Rec found herself hungry, tired, partially wounded, and her brother was not answering any of her distress calls. On the bright side, she did still have all 900 some-odd skillets (gold pieces) that her brother gave her. She didn’t need any. Up until now she had been living off of the land. When a city rolled around, she browsed through its shops, sleep on the streets, stayed there for a few days, hearing the local rumors, and than moved on. She got into a fight with a big mobster, trying to someone out. He hit her arm with a hammer, it broke instantly. It’s almost healed from than, but still hurt when she swings it hard.

Suddenly Rec saw a fish in a near by lake. “Lunch,” she thought to herself. She took off her shirt and jeans, and dove into the cold water. After a few minutes of unsuccessful, she grabbed the fish, but than felt something pulling it. She also found it weird that the fish wasn’t moving, or fighting for its life. Just than, out of nowhere she spotted a boat, with a guy waving at her. She didn’t realize it, but she had drifted very far from shore, she wondered how far. She swam to his boat, and jumped on.

“What be you doing so ‘ar out in this here sea?”

“This is a sea? I thought it was a lake!”

“Well, it is, but its so big we just call it a sea, ‘ames Talt, pleasure to ‘ave you aboard.”

“Thank you, I was wondering if you had any food, I haven’t eaten in days,”

“But of course!” the caption shouted, “finest fish from this ‘ere lake you’ll ever see!”

Rec sat down with the man for dinner, they got into a conversation about their pasts, Rec, of course, had an unusual one, but the Talt’s was still yet more confusing.

“and that’s when I came home to see my ship floatin away, must have been a couple of hundred meters by the time I got to it,”

“Talt, can I hear more of that temple you were talking about?”

“Oh, you don’t want to ‘ear about that, do you?”

“Yes,”

“Well, I don’t know much, but rumor has it that it yields a weapons. Some say it’s a sword, others say it is not a weapons, but an essence. No one knows for sure, those who manage to find the temple can’t seem to find their way around it! They get lost, coming home weeks later, tired, haggard, and delusional. Many say a curse runs through the damn thing, others say a spirit,”

“Wow, where is it?”

“Your not thinking about going there are you!”

“Well, I don’t have much better to do now do I,”

“Oh please, you’re a young girl, there’s no way you can do that!”

“You see these gems in my palms, they contain the elements of Sinion, the all-seeing-eye. I’ve been in worse predicaments than this!”

All of a sudden, the tone of the room broke, Talt seemed different.

“You know too much already,” he said darkly.

“Pardon?”

Talt drew a dagger and rammed it at Rec.

“Elemental shield fire!” Rec shouted. Her palms emitted a fire bubble around her, the ship caught on fire almost instantly.

“You must be eliminated, we shall meet again,” Talt said, he ran to the life boat and took off. Rec cast a wind shield, and hovered over the surface of the water.

“The old man was lying,” she quickly found herself at shore, much quicker than the man made it seem. She found her clothes and went into town. She heard a man shouting, “Maps for sale, find the ancient temple ruins, maps for sale!”

“Excuse me, how much for the maps, I’m only carrying Skillets,”

“500 Skillets, and we will call it even,” Rec took out her bag of money and saw the man’s pupils grow large at the fact of getting 30 times market price from a stupid kid. She knew money, and some map wasn’t worth 500 skillets.

“Okay, lemme just get my ba-” Rec quickly snatched the map from his greedy hands, replaced it with 25 skillets, and ran off.

“Brightwind, do you hear that?” Darkcloud’s ears heightened, “first a foxman, and now this!”

“Whatever it is, its running very fast,” Brightwind commented, “lets hid in the bushes, maybe it’ll miss us.

Rec ran right past them, when they heard her footsteps fad away, they came back out.

“Who are you?” Rec asked, seeing them emerge.

“Woah!" Brightwind said, startled, but than someone else appeared.

“What are you people doing here?” Latio Scaptur asked, hearing the voices.

“We should ask you the same!” Darkcloud sneered back.

“Are you guys looking for the treasure too!” Rec exclaimed in a childish voice, holding up her map.

“Lemme see that,” Darkcloud snatched the map and took a look at it.

“Well, this beats wandering in the forest for hours,” Brightwind added.

"We weren't wandering, we were constructivly finding out where the temple wasn't" Darkcloud answered.

OoC: Okay, just to clear some things up, Talt (the old guy) is the same man (Maght Klout) that Meteora assassinated. Rec bought the map, and now Rec, Darkcloud, Brightwind, and Latio are all in the same place, with a map. I thought since I looked at the map you drew and the Ruins weren’t really West, but SSW that we needed a map, otherwise we would be looking around for them for like 12 more posts

OoC: To keep this fair. I think that we should keep this kinda loosely-turn based. Its ok to post if at least two people have posted since your last post, but we don't want two people posting back and forth, cutting out the others. So, that said, its your turn to post PIMPROD!

OoC: A variation of my old runescape name, Latioscaptur. It was originaly going to be "Latios (Latios was my favorite pokemon at the time) Capturer." It didn't fit, so I got Latioscaptur. I met a friend, who called me Latio (he obviously didn't know pokemon very well.) If I become an artist or author for a living, it'll be my pen name.

Ooc: sorry people, I looked and no one posted, I looked again and BAM! haha OK, imma bring in Orama Darku (link in sig.) And try to get caught up. Hey HH if you think it is getting too crowded tell me, and I will dismiss Orama somehow ok?

Bic: Meteora finally awoke and looked out the window at the sun and then down at the old man's body.

Wow, I wonder if he was telling the truth........Well I guess I can take a little "vacation" and check this out. Meteora thought as he reached down and pulled the man's eyelids down over his eyes.

With that Meteora walked down the stairs while putting his cloak on. He walked by the bartender that was there last night.

"Hey, uh, you might wanna clean up alittle mess upstairs in room 12." The assassin told her while flipping her a gold coin and then pulling his hood up.

Meteora walked outside and waited for his eyes to adjust. Then he was off down the main street listening and looking for some clues as to where this place is. He heard an old man yelling something about maps. The assassin made his way over to the man.

"So uh, these maps for that hidden "temple" thing or what?" He asked trying not to be too interested.

"Yes Yes Yes indeed sir would you like one? a fair price of uh, say.....100 rupees or 50 gold coins whatever you prefer." The salesman replied.

"Well, actually I just may by one for 70 gold coins just for your hospitality! ,....But if I do that I will first need to hold a map to make sure the quality is up to par." Meteora said with a warm smile.

"Oh, well certainly! Here you are!" The salesman said while greedly handing Meteora the map.

The assassin held it and bounced it up and down, and smelled it to convince the salesman that he was "inspecting it". Then he opened it up and gave it a quick glance and read through. Meteora was used to getting directions once and that was it. He threw the map down on the table.

"This Is Of Inferior Quality!!!!! You should be ashamed of yourself!" Meteora yelled as he walked away trying not to laugh.

The half elf was traveling in the direction towards the temple when he stopped right outside of the woods.

Well, here we go,.....wait......im being watched.... Meteora thought as he was about to step in.

He catiously looked around until something caught his eye. It was a woman in the tree waving at him. It was his cousin!

"Hey there, my cousin. You are really easy to track." Orama said with a smile.

"Orama! Dont do that! Why are you here?" Meteora said while not knowing to smile or be angry.

"Well Meteora, I was just passing through, you know, spreading the good. When I heard some man was assassinated in the night by a charming young fellow. Well, of course I thought of you. I guess I just got lucky that it really was you!" Orama said while jumping down to hug her cousin.

They hugged and Meteora rolled his eyes.

"You know Meteora, there is still good in you and I believe you should embrace it." The mage said with a serious face.

" Listen Orama, if you arent too busy then you are more than welcome to join me on this quest. However, if you start preaching to me then we will go are own ways." Meteora said while hiding a smile.

"Ok im in! Just tell me whats going on!" Orama said while pulling her hood over her head and getting her staff out in front of her ready to walk.

After Meteora explained to Orama the whole deal about the old man and the temple. They both entered the woods. While walking Meteora couldnt help but feeling really comfortable because of Orama's bright white cloak and staff.

If there are any enimies out there we will surely run into them with her cloak sticking out like that! Meteora thought while smiling.

Ooc: OK, im close enough to you guys now! woo hoo!

Darkcloud turned to his brother and whispered in his ear. "Ok, we have the map and you can sence where the power in the temple is, so I don't see any reason why we shouldn't make a break for it."

"But, why? What if we all just went there together?"

"Are you crazy? If we do that then all four of us will be there with one mysterious power. Its better now to try and beat them to it. So, you'll have to distract them so we can run for it."

"Well..." Brightwind hesitated. Darkcloud glared at his brother with a look that said what words couldn't.

"Fine." They broke their conference and turned to the others.

"Yeah, you all seem like really nice people and all, but this man here," Darkcloud said, pointing to his brother, "has dragged me through far too much to be beaten to the temple. I'm sorry, really I am, but now that we have a map and we know that you lot are trying to get there too, I'm afraid that we are forced to do THIS!

Brightwind quickly brought his hands up and muttered under his breath. There was as slight rumbling that made the other two start. Suddenly, a wave of water materialized at Brightwind's feet and shot outward, growing tall, wider, and thicker.

Rec screamed and instinctively threw up her hands and created a fire shield around her, while latio jumped up and grabbed a branch, trying to climb the tree as fast as possible, though it was rather hard to do without sight.

The gigantic wave crashed with an almighty roar against Rec's shield, instantly evapoprated, and covered the whole area in steam. But the fire couldn't evaporate it all; the wave overwhelmed Rec's shield and knocked Latio out of the tree, the wave carrying both of them several feet before deminishing.

Rec slappepd her hands in a puddle and exclaimed, "Ohhh, those sneaky cowards! I'll get them back!'

OoC: I think there are too many people here, Really, I think we whould drop Brightcloud, and Orama. That would make the teams even, Me and Latio vs. Darkcloud and Meteora. Just a suggestion, if not, than I'll bring in my other character, Rio, Rec's brother, but that's 7 people already, I think that's too much, but that's just me.

BiC: Rec got up, wiping the mud off of her shirt.

“If it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’ll get!” she exclaimed loudly.

“Yea, you got my fur soggy!” Latio said, standing by Rec’s side.

“That’s fine by us, we’ll take both of you, and than some!” Darkcloud was getting anxious for two things, one, for a good fight, two, to beat these people and get onto the temple.

Meanwhile Meteora watched in the distance, perched on top of a tree. “This should be good, I’ll let these people kill each other, and meanwhile I’ll get the weapon from the temple,”

“O common Meteora, don’t you want a good fight?” Orama chimed in.

“No, anyways, there is steam there, and as you can see that girl is capable of fire, and as you know, you and fire don’t get along too well,” Orama thought back to the time that the steam stifled her so much she couldn’t even cast a basic barrier spell.

“I guess your right,”

“Of course I’m right, now, I saw a map of the temple, and it’s not to far from here. Lets go there before they figure out w are here,”

“Hey Rec, do you hear that?” Latio asked.

“No, hear what, I’m not part fox remember,”

“I think I just heard people talking, over there,” He pointed to the exact spot that Meteora was perched, Meteora froze. It was night, but the moon still shone, he was afraid his black cloak wouldn’t be enough to camouflage him.

“Stop distracting us, there’s nothing there,” Brightwind said as Meteora breathed a heavy sigh of relief.

“Wait, I think I see something, hold on a second. Electricity!” Lightning sprouted out of Rec’s gems, illuminating the night. Thankfully for Meteora, by that time he was already halfway down the tree.

“Would you stop this child’s play!” Darkcloud said infuriated.

“I’m serious, I can still hear him walking, he’s headed that way,” Latio said pointing down the path.

“Wait, that’s where the ruins are!” Rec shouted out. “I bet you someone else is trying to find the treasure too,”

“More like two people,” Latio added.

“Well, whoever they are, they are not getting their hands on my treasure!” Darkcloud said as he started a full out sprint towards the temple. He stopped in front of the steps, looking at the relic, and than looking at the pair of people off to the side of him. “Who are you?”

“My name does not concern you, what does is that I’m claiming this treasure,” Meteora responded coolly.

“Hey, who are they? Rec said, coming up with the rest of the group,”

“I honestly have no idea,” Brightwind said.

OoC: Well, Brightwind and Darkcloud are twins and are suppose to be a team. Since theres 6 people here, why don't we make it Bright' & Dark' vs. Latio & Rec vs. Meteroa & Orama? Three two-man teams? Then I'll have the artifact be a two piece set that could be divided between the a team. For example, something like two magical swords, one for each team member. If not, then I have something else in mind to be the artifact.

I guess that works, this is goig to be crazy w/ 3 teams though.

OoC: Ok, great. And could you guys kinda slow it down a little? I hadn't intended for everyone to get to the temple so quickly. Oh, and I have a great idea for the artifacts.

Ooc: Wow! seriously lets slow this down!!!! In fact I have an Idea that will push us back a little more! Oh, and the three teams of two works out fine! And even if Rec and Latio didnt work together, there are ways for you guys to still compete, I mean use your imagination!

Bic: As they all stood there in a circle Orama and Brightwind couldnt help but notice something.

"Wait!" The both of them said at the same time.

The two looked at each other and smiled,

"Im sorry my lady, go ahead." Brightwind said politely.

"oh haha, ok, you must feel it too. I sense something about this place, it.....it isnt what we think." Orama said with a catious look on her face.

"Yes, the power I was drawn to is farther than this. This is something else." Brightwind finished.

"Well, what is i.....it" Meteora couldnt finish his sentence because as Darkcloud put his foot on the first step to the temple it all disappeared!

"Ah, some sort of illusion spell." Brightwind said interested.

"So where is the real temple Orama?" Meteora asked

"Well, it must be deeper." Brightwind answered.

"Is your name Orama!?" The assassin snapped.

"Hey watch who you are talkin to elf!" Darkcloud leaned in.

"Hey now boys! there is no need for this! I sense no true evil in any of you! So to avoid this confrontaion we should all work together to find this artifact." Orama said hopefully.

"yea, yea, we could all share!" Rec said happily.

" Ha please kid! The world isnt that nice, trust me, I know." Latio said.

"There will be sharing! However it will be between me and my brother!" Darkcloud exclaimed.

Now all six of them stand in a circle with an akward silence. They are all wondering what to do next since they stand were an imaginary temple lay. Do they run, fight, or come together?

Ooc: OK, I hoped I fixed some things, I mean now we all still need to find the temple!
