The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Wind howled and scratched at the bare trees as darkness filled the empty surroundings. As leaves brushed the dirt of the path in the wind, an owl cried out into the deepness of the night. The gliding of gusts created sickening moans as they zagged through the deformed trees. The desolate area glowed with a faint paleness under the glare of the moon, it’s silent echos not easily heard, but undeniably detectable. It caused the forest, and the nearby mountain to illuminate, thus revealing whatever hid in the uneasy darkness.
Suddenly, the sound of crunching leaves broke the silence as a mysteriously cloaked figure moved desperately through the forest. The figure’s worn, one piece brown cloak covered their entire figure, but the person’s long blonde hair streamed through the cool autumn air. The hood of this person’s cloak turned around to see behind it, but in it’s attempt, it merely bumped hard into a large, dead oak tree. The figure stood back up quickly and shook it’s head to regain full consciousness. Once more, it looked backwards behind itself, but still, nothing showed over the horizon of curving paths that lay littered with leaves. And once more, the figure ran through the neatly formed path of tree, towards the mountain. However, the figure was now struggling to regain it’s grip on something that seemed to be slipping out from under it’s cape. There was another thud as the large, orange pumpkin hit the dirt of the path. The figure spun around and cursed lightly with a female’s voice. The woman raced to pick up the object, but as she knelt over to pick it up, she heard a sickening laugh arise from out of view. The woman lowered the hood of her cloak to get a better view of the horizon. She had streaming, golden hair, and beautiful, gleaming green eyes. However, her distraught look wrinkled her face. “Not now, not yet,” the figure murmured lightly. The air above the path from which the woman had just walked was growing blurry. It was bending due to some unseen heat beyond the woman’s possible view. Without staying to see what was emerging, the woman picked up the pumpkin, and threw it back under her arm, and continued running towards the steep mountain. Another high pitched cackle flew through the air and sent a shiver down the woman’s spine. As she drew closer to the mountain, trees grew scarce, as did the multi colored leaves which littered the ground. The pumpkin wielding person spun around again as she began her ascent up the mountain. Now, she could see the flaming outline of pumpkins hovering along the forest path. Dozens of the pumpkins engulfed in flame followed the young woman up the mountain. “Leave me alone!” she shrieked, not noticing the rock as her foot hit it. She was sent flying towards the slanted ground of the mountain side. With a sick thud, the woman landed on the ground, her knee crashing against a rock, causing significant damage and bleeding. But her determination showed vigorously as she stood back up and continued to climb the rocky surface. She knew in her head that she didn’t have to make it to the top, just close enough. The sadistic moaning of the evil, flying pumpkins was now apparent to her, and as it grew ever louder, she repressed the urge to scream out due to agony and annoyance. Obviously not realizing that it was the reason she had been repeatedly slowed, she turned her head to look at the row of monsters. However, she luckily managed to stay on her feet, and also to maintain a steady pace up the mountain side. “There we go!” she said loudly as she approached the top of the mountain. At a distance of only ten feet away however, she collapsed under the pain of her injured knee. Now, breathing heavily, the woman looked more desperate than ever. Losing consciousness by the second, and having a horde of evil pumpkins approaching her, she took the pumpkin from under her cloak, and threw it from her right hand with all her might. It landed on the flat surface of the mountain top, and a bright, blinding light shot from where the pumpkin lay, into the sky until it connected with the moon. “Now, go to hell, evil pumpkins.” she cursed the evil pumpkins as they reached her. As if by magic, each pumpkin grew bright white, and flew high into the air. Then, with an uneasy suddenness, they exploded into a mirage of sparkling seeds that littered the ground of the forest. And with her final breath, the woman wearily closed her eyes, thus parting the world that had forever accused her.

Ooc: This shouyld be fun! Im in!! Char. in sig.
Bic: Kaifraz looked at the letter he had in his hand, a confused look on his face. Who would send him this? He didn’t know and did not care either. He looked up smiling. It was a chance to show is skills again. To improve them too, and besides, this was going to be a fun little competition, if that’s what it was. He looked at the letter again, and read it through once more. Dear participant, You have been invited to take part in a legendary event. One that will occur only once, every thirty one decades (only if we are that unfortunate). You have been invited to take part in the Pumpkin Forest key battle. Three hundred and ten years ago on Halloween, a witch stole a sacred Pumpkin, and took it to the top of Hyandreiw Mountain. She placed a wicked curse on the valued pumpkin, one that she had stole from the king who had ruled at that time. The witch wanted to rule the world with the help of demon pumpkins, and she intended to use what she called “the king pumpkin” as a summoning to bring forth the most vile orange beings from below ground. However, in a grave mistake, the witch lost control of the pumpkins, and she could no longer use them to do her evil bidding, but without a master to control them, they want insane, and murdered all those before them in an orange massacre. The witch was only able to keep them at bay by sacrificing her evil soul. Now, three hundred and ten years later, the witch’s soul is restless, and must be set free from the mountain’s magical bindings in order to be exorcized successfully. It is for that reason, that you, and a group of other individuals have been chosen to try and find the king pumping withing the forest, for within the pumpkin, lay the key to putting the witch’s soul to rest. You must find it at all costs, before midnight on Hallow’s eve, or else the pumpkins which were also sealed to the mountain will rise again to consume the earth with their orangeness. He whomsoever finds the key first, will be known as king of pumpkins, forever. He looked up again, and wondered, for the tenth time, how the door from his room in the inn led to a path that entered a dark foreboding forest. He shrugged his shoulders and walked forward. The trees seemed to warn him away. Kaifraz smiled, it wouldn’t work, he had come this far. He looked behind him, and it seemed he couldn’t go back now either. Then he walked into the deep dark forest, to whatever dangers await him. |

OoC: I'll use my brand new character, I hope you don't mind a little intro, link in sig.
BiC: Mikuhaeru was asleep within an airship, it was on its way to a country that Mikuhaeru had never been to before, the room was cozy and warm with a nice window view to the clouds right outside, the ninja was ready to begin searching for his clans most treasured sword. "Attention, we will be arriving at Hyrule in fifteen minutes, please begin to move to the unloading zone soon." Mikuhaerus eyes opened at these words, grabbing his gear he left the room and made his way down to the exit, fifteen minutes later the ninja hopped off the airship onto the flat plain. Studying this new place it was apparent that this country was a less technologically advanced place, many places did this to keep war minimal. The air was crisp with fall weather, and leaves danced in the air, looking up into the air Mikuhaeru saw a bird come down onto him, it was a crow. On the creatures leg was a slip of paper, hmm a messenger bird. The ninja opened it up, Dear participant, You have been invited to take part in a legendary event. Looking at directions he headed off toward the forest, he saw other shadows run into the woods, it seems there is competition, my traps will work well in the darkness. After double checking his things Mikuhaeru ran into the woods as night slowly creeped on the land. OoC: Not to sound rude but was you character approved Naryn? He doesn't seem to have any weakness'.

The waitress, who happened to be getting impatient with him (he hadn't paid for the entire pie yet), laughed, "You said you were a bounty hunter, right? There's no bounty for a pumpkin..." Jake laughed aloud, "But Pumpkin King is a generous title, and it will earn me publicity. More publicity, better jobs, more money, more silver." "Speaking of money..." Jake took off his blue sunglasses and let the waitress see his left eye. "Ah yes, what was the bill again?" The waitress, who was actually quite used to the whole scenario of being intimidated, tapped her pencil on her little chack-maker. "Thirty." Jake was taken aback by the waitress' attitude. Nevertheless, he paid his bill with barely a murmur, picked up his Tremerion, and walked out. "Getting dark..." Jake said to himself... "To get there now, I'd need wings..." And as Drake took over, he wondered if anyone was watching... Ten minutes to the spot...

Twilight had gotten it when she found it with the hotel manager. It was addressed to her. After that incident at the jail, she racked up money to live in the Clock Town inn. She sighed and got up. She always wondered when she would see and of them again. Chronos, Razia, or Viraut. Never Sin, she always thought he was not right in the head. The others, however, were like a family she never had. Not that she ever had a family. She stood up and opened the door to leave. She got on her new horse, Shadow Rider, and rode to Hyrule. As she neared the woods of Hyrule, she began to wonder, who appointed this anyway. Come on! Evil pumpkins! It sounded a bit corny. Then she thought more. Chronos, Razyia, or even Viraut may be in this competiton. She urged Shaow Rider to ride into the darkness of the forest. She heard something move. A figure appeared. Out of supprise, Twilight screamed, "Who the heck are you?!"

Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Mikuhaeru hid in the bushes, someone had called out to him, I do not wish to talk to the residents of this country... I have no time for it, making sure he was in the shadows the ninja jumped up into a tree. Twilight saw him past but could make out any features, she though it was Viraut.
Mikuhaeru jumped from limb to limb as easily as a squirel, there was a rustling below him, whoever had called out to the ninja was following, perhaps to kill me. Mikuhaeru stopped to examine his enemy, and so did Twilight, peircing through into the darkness Mikuhaeru saw it was a young girl with guns, ahh so there is some technologhy here. Knowing full well the extent of which a gun can do the ninja continued into the forest center, hearing that his stalker was right behind him.

Someone was definitely taking some kind of drug when this was sent out. Who would believe any of that? But Soledad did like his pumpkins. And a title like that might be fun to have. Why not, he needed something to do until his next job. Maybe it could be...fun...for him at least. He left the small town he was staying in and went to the place indicated by the letter. He was going to leave anyway, they'd soon find out who he had killed. Silently he thought 'King of pumpkins? What will they think of next?'

Bic: Nayorin swung her legs on the side of the bed, kicking its frame with a satysfying "bang" as she read the letter delivered to her. She was staying in the house of a very distant friend...a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend so much that the person was a complete stranger. Still, she didn't care about that. It was this stupid note that had somehow been delivered to her that messed with her head. She wondered how the person who had delivered it--whoever the heck it was--knew where she stayed. The of the household came to her door with an envelope with a scary wax seal on it, adressed to her. "Dear participant? Whoever said that I was going to be in whatever this is? One every thirty-one decades...so that was a long time ago..." She read the letter another time. He whomsoever finds the key first, will be known as king of pumpkins, forever. "Demon pumpkins? Whatever. I'll think about it." With that, she kicked off her shoes and curled up under the blankets. She thought of what a pumpkin {demon} would look like. "Green, winding stalks for legs and arms...a carved face, lighting up from inside mysteriously...a twisting hat...a tail. Would they have tails? Gah, whatever." She laughed at her own thoughts, forgetting the note for a while while she thought of what {demons} she had seen and that none of them compared to what a pumpkin {demon} might look like. "And pumpkin KING? I wanna be a queen. No fair. And what sort of 'orangenes' shall consume the world? Maybe pumpkin pie. Mm...yes." And she drifted off to sleep, her last thought, "No. This is stupid." And she fell into a deep...dreamy sleep.

Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Chronos moved silently behind Twilight's horse. He did not wish to be seen, and was therefore unseen by the murderess that he had worked with before. He walked on metal ground, suspended above the earth by two inches of MetaSkin steel.
Twilight had her instincts though, and could tell she was being followed by a force mighty and strong. Without waiting for her stalker to attack first, she let loss an open barrage of buckshot at her unknown enemy. She had just enough time to duck as the bullets bounced off Chronos' metal chest, for she might of as well shot him with air, it would have done nothing. She relaxed. "What a thoughtful way to say hello Twilight," Chronos muttered, brushing himself off, and stepping onto the ground. "But I think you forgot the more lethal weapons. Am I not dangerous enough for you to break out your heavy artilerary?" "It's good to see you Chronos," Twilight answered, ignoring the dry sarcasm, he had wasted good amunition. "What are you doing in these woods?" Chronos inquired.

Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Twilight got out her letter from her pouch. She unsealed it again. She handed it to Chronos.
"I got this letter at the hotel I was staying at in Clock Town" Chronos quickly reviewed the letter and gave it back to Twilight. "I have gotten the same letter" He said. Twilights horse started to turn away and go. Twilight stoped Shadow Rider. "You dum animal, what the hecks wrong with you?" She shouted. She heard a rusle in the tree. What the heck was that? she thought. She started to edge the tree and pull her sword out. Chronos, however, had heard nothing. With a quick movement, she pulled a figure from the tree and put a sword to his throat. "Who the heck are you?!" she shouted, sword still to Mikuhaeru's throat. Mikuhaeru aimed a blow at Twilight's stomach and fled. Twilight was on the ground for 5 seconds, then jumped on her horse and ran after him. Chronos was soon out of her mind as she started to shoot at the figure.

The forest itself was quite annoying. It had taken a while just to find a way to land. And not just that, but somebody had shot at him with an arrow! Of all the bull-headed- "Huh?" There it was! A rustle! "Tremerion... you ready to go to work?" He whispered to his weapon as he unstrapped it. Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
What Mikuhaeru had done was unnacceptable, so the rumors are true of this land, the people here are very skilled, I wasn't expecting to be found, this is unnacceptable I must up my game.
A horse galloped right behind the ninja, whomever this girl was knew Mikuhaeru was there and chased. Limb to limb Mikuhaeru jumped with the horse right beneath him and gunshots wizzing past, other sounds could be heard though, a faint clink clink could be heard from behind, there was a lot more than just a girl with a gun and a horse in the woods, there was that other person with a mask on, such a strange person indeed. I did not expect things to go at such a fast pace, I've met someone already, I did not think I needed to lay traps this early on... The ninja looked down to see the horse just below, thinking fast Mikuhaeru sped up faster, the girl still did'nt know how fast Mikuhaeru could go. The young man went faster and faster, he would lay wire traps to impede the horses progress, that would surely slow her down, he would save the exploding tags for when he really needed them. Quickly jumping to the ground the ninja wrapped some wire around two trees in a criss-cross fashion, the horse would definatly hit it, and be fine.

Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Twilight rode right into the trap. The horse fliped and nearly crushed Twilight. Twilight, however, had jumped onto the horse while it was falling, and then to a tree. Darn ninja she looked down at the horse. No use for you now she got out her gun and shot the horse. A few gushes of blood got on her. She got out her sword I've already wasted enough ammo she thought. She jumped out of the tree. She walked deeper into the forest, like nothing happened. Soon some loud voice cried out...
"Who's there?" It came from a clearing near. She had her sword ready, incase this being was an enemy. Well, since it was a contest, pretty much everyone in the forest was a contestant. So all was enemy. She approached the clearing. "I am here"

Jake stared at the girl for a second... and then smiled and sat down nonchalantly.
"And who would you be?" The girl shifted slightly so that he could see her sword. She needn't have bothered: He had aready seen it with his dragon's eye. "Twilight." "Ah, Twilight the... murderer, right?" Twilight seemed confused by how Jake knew her, but maybe she wasn't that surprised, because she smiled back at Jake. "And you know me... how?" "Ah, well you're one of the names all bounty hunter's know... Along with Jack the Ripper, you see." A joke! Of all the childish things... He knew she was an assasin of sorts and it didn't even phase him! "Are all bounty hunters rude like you?" Jake smiled again, not allowing himself to make any sign of fear, "No, just me. Though rude is such an ugly way to put it... Wouldn't you know how bounty hunters acted though? After all, with the bounty on your head at least a few... thousand of them have probably gone after you." Twilight smiled as she found an answer that would easily shake this strange man, "Yeah... but I killed them before they could talk to me." "Ah... shall we fight then? I'm not really in the mood to right now... I'm just trying to find a pumpkin. What do you say?"

Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Ah what stupid people these warriors are, but for me one of the many rules of being a ninja is to never just run out into the open like that, the residents of this country are tough but not as well trained in such fine arts.
Mikuhaeru wasn't going to just forget about the girl that tried to kill him, noting the carcass back just a little while away the ninja realized that his trap worked but did not expect such coldness from the girl that she would actually just kill the animal. There would perhaps be more people with no pity in their hearts, but alas there was no time to dawdle with such useless thoughts so Mikuhaeru was ready to move deeper and deeper into the forest. Suddenly he picked up the slight little clink clink he had heard when being chased by the girl on the horse, someone was coming and perhaps would be even more unfriendly than the girl. Mikuhaeru crouched and then jumped clear over the clearing, unnoticed, and ran once again into the forest, pumpkins slowly growing in population every minute.

"Twilight, behave yourself," Chronos muttered from behind the two. "in case you haven't noticed, I'm still here."
"But I want to cream this guy," Twilight answered, loading her gun. "We don't have time to defend honor, you violent child. We have to reach the Pumpkins." "Butt out Mask," Jake interjected. "I want to fight the girl, so stay out of it." "What did you just call me?" Chronos asked very silently, almost in a whisper. "I called you Mask, masky," Jake answered, pulling out his Tremerien. "Want to do something about it?" "Yes, I think I do," answered the man, walking over to him, cracking his knuckles. "What happened to not having time?" Twilight asked. "Shut up," both answered. "I'll end this quickly," Jake shouted, thrusting a blade at the man's stomach. "Not much of a fighter, are you?" he asked as the point made contact. Yet it refused to go further, not cutting into the skin. "I'm sorry, were you about to do something?" Chronos asked, punching him with a fist that felt like iron. "I said I don't have time for this, so don't try to fight me."

BiC: "Jeez," jested Jake, "Tough crowd. Actually... three's a crowd... Two's just a bunch of-" Chronos punched him again, this time in the jaw. Jake bit back a large curse and forced a smile. "Hmmmm... That hurt quite a good bit. Luckily, I've got a hard head." Touching his already bruising cheek, Jake smiled, "Meta-man... Chronos, right? You know, it's so strange for two bounties to be in the same place... Or at least such high bounties being together. Do I sense a love connec-" This time Twilight had had her go. Her punch landed in the same place as Chronos'. Jake skidded for a few feet, and then he stopped. "How'd you like that?" Twilight jested. "Hmmm... Never dealt with this deal before. Either way, I wasn't aiming for a big fight here. I'm not on a job, you see. I'm just here for a friendly game of "Find the special pumpkin, which happens to give you the title of Pumpkin King when you find it." Twilight smiled back at Jake, her eyes giving him a glance that could kill. "Let's go Chronos." "But," Chronos growled with a slight hint of anger, "I want to kill him. He is an arrogant-" "He's weak. You see how he doesn't try to attack you, even now? He knows us, and he can probably gage us on our bounties. There's no sport in him." Jake turned his head away, trying to hide the fit of laughter that had overtaken him. If only they knew... "I said, let's GO!" With that, Twilight walked further into the forest. "You get lucky... this time," Chronos retorted at Jake. At the last second, before Chronos had completely turned around, Jake took off his sunglasses and opened his left eye. "Me? Lucky? I think you have it the other way around." With that, the two fighters left Jake standing all alone. "Hmmm... Should I follow them? They probably know a way to these pumpkins... I don't really care too much, but they intrigue me. Nah, I'll take a different route."

Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Ooc: Someone please play with me. I'm bored.
Bic: Kaifraz walked down the path in the forest alone, and swore to himself if he ever made it out alive he would never fight in a forest again. It was so dark and scary, not that he was actually scared, just that’s how others would feel. He heard muffled voices in the distance and decided to find another way to get wherever he was going. He didn’t know why but he was getting the feeling he was being watched. He put it down to the forest making him uneasy, and he wished he had never gotten out of bed that morning. None of this would have happened if he had just stayed in bed! [I] Oh well [I/] he thought [I] I guess its too late for that now. [I/] He still had the feeling he was being watched though. He stopped walking and called out “Who ever it is following me, if you want to fight then fine. We’ll fight. But if not then stop following me!” And with that he turned around, drawing his swords, and preparing for a fight with this unknown person. |

Re: The key of Pumpkins (Everyone)
Soledad had gotten to the forest after a few days of travelling. When he arrived he put himself up in a tree and got some rest. He was awakened by someone travelling along a path nearby. "Enough rest" Soledad decided. "Maybe this person knows where they're going." So he began following him in the trees. After a while the person turned around. "Well well well, looks like I've been found" he thought to himself.
"Who ever it is following me, if you want to fight then fine. We’ll fight. But if not then stop following me!” the stranger yelled. Soledad started sizing up his opponent. He looked pretty strong. Those swords would certainly be something to contend with. Certainly no direct fighting with this guy. Thankfully the light was beginning to fade. "If you're up for a fight" Soledad threw his voice around the trees without giving away his position, "I'm ready for one too. But you're not my prey. Be careful though, accidents happen. And let's try to make this quick, we're almost late." "Well come out and fight then!" Kaifraz yelled at the trees around him. With that a dagger came flying out of the trees right at Kaifraz. He didn't flinch, and it embedded itself in the ground. The jewel in the hilt was beautiful. But then it started glowing and flew back into the treeline. He followed it's flight and saw a figure crouching in the trees. "Got you!" he said and jumped at the shadow. He brought his swords down in a swipe and cut the branch off cleanly. But the person was gone. "You'll have to be faster than that to catch me!" Soledad said playfully. This fight just might be a little bit of fun. He threw his dagger again, this time aiming for one of Kaifraz's arms. It was a glancing blow, but it brought blood. Kaifraz saw where he threw it from, and rushed again. Soledad jumped back into the trees and moved around his opponent, picking up his dagger while getting to the next spot. "Why don't you come up here and fight me?" he teased. The teasing wasn't having much of an effect, but it was still fun. Kaifraz swung his head around, looking for the source of the voice, but couldn't see anyone. "I'll get you snake. You just wait."
