Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

I would prefer to battle someone who can write well and doesn't mind writting a lot. Also, you must be patient, as school makes it hard for me to get on anymore. Also, I prefer to fight someone with a strong character, as I will be using Rage (link in sig).

Ooc:
This battle will take place in an old town, roughly a half mile in diameter, that has seen better days. It had fallen in buildings, almost no trees, and random items strewn about. It can be destroyed even further, as it is abandoned. Most buildings still stand, but have holes in the walls and such. You can weaponize almost anything and hiding is allowed. Above all, have fun. I will start it out just a mile from the battle area, explaining why Rage is there. This battle will be based soley on a misunderstanding.

IC:
Raul and Napaj were in a fight that could be concidered impossible by human standards. But they aren't human. They followed a deadly assassin from the capital in hopes of collecting a newly placed bounty on his head. When they finally caught up, they found he was actually a hell-spawn angel (angels corrupt by demonic power) in diguise.

The assassin, who's name was Ludacu, fought like a madman, but when Napaj and Ranul clamped there amulets together and fused forms, he took off like a hound.

Southward he travelled, with the newly formed Rage on his heels, to an abandoned mining town. He ducked into a mining shaft, hoping to give Rage the slip. Luck was on his side, as he watched his adversary fly overhead, past the opening.

It was at this point, while Rage searched out his quarry when he was blindsided by an unseen person.

"Damn!" yelled Rage, as he colided into a wall. As he climbed to his feet and the dust cleared, he made out the sillouette of another figure and tackled it. "Just who the hell do you think you are?"

The figure stood and said, "I am called..."

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

(Ooc: Character in the sig)

"Arthur," he said with a grim finality to his words. His sharp eyes hardened to a vigilant gaze as the pain from the blow began to fade into numbness. His hands whipped to his back and with a loud clank of metal, he had drawn his massive sword. He exmained his opponent closely with his searing, cracked looking eyes as they began to strafe about each other in the darkening mine shaft. The zweihander had not adminstered any shock at all, much to the mercenary's suprirse as they circled around again. He stepped forward quickly to engage in a feint but his opponent had swerved in advance and grabbed hold of his shoulders. His blade dropped to the floor within seconds as they pulled on each other's great grasps. Arthur shunted his opponent to the side though as he was sent into a mound of gravel and filth. A loud grunt carried as he picked himself again.

Arthur brought himself to the side as the bounty surged ahead with fury in his eyes. Again, he attempted to sidestep but the swift opponent had already grabbed him in the legs. He fell with a heavy thud and letting his lips give out a urgent yelp. He reached for his sword just out of reach as the opponent loosened several blows from his raw fist. Struggling, Arthur heaved himself forward and brought himself on top of him. But the muscular form grabbed his whole frame and slammed it in a quick motion. Pain shot up every side of him as he hit the dirty ground. His ribs and muscles inflamed, he grimaced and screamed with vigor as he finally retreived his sword and swung fiercely. The rival evaded it easily as he moved to the side. He raised his hand suddenly and a deep rumble shook the earth. The mercenary let out a yell as he lunged backwards as a earthen spire emerged from the ground. Recuperating from his injuries, he seized a huge rock from the quarry and gave a hefty throw towards the angel, hoping to crush the skull. But the rock went wide as he found himself near the edge of a large hole in the dark tunnel, trying to retain his balance as his form wobbled across. He was very vunerable right now...

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

OoC:
Sorry for the long wait. See, wee just had an all weekend comp for band last week and that, among other things, has kept me rather buisy. I have time now!

IC:
The Napaj half of Rage said to save the man and follow the quarry, but the Ranul half was screaming "Push him in and see what happens!". It was the former that precided.

Rage grabbed the man's arm, pulling out of harm's way and chucked him away. "Back off, this one's mine," he said in his strangly loud yet raspy voice and took off in the direction that Ludacu had ran, only to find that his tracks led through a tunnle that exited the mine area. "Damn."

As Rage burst from the entrance in a cloud of dust and dirt, Arthur burst from the front entrance in a similar fation(sp?).

"I told you to leave! I claim this bounty and don't plan on giving up!" Rage yelled to his adversary, throwing a fireball for added effect.

Arthur dodged with ease and disappeared in a cloud of more dust, sudenly appearing a few feet behind Rage. "I also desire this bounty, so don't think you can win easily either!" he said as he kicked swiftly at his foe's head. Rage wasn't as ready for this as he thought and was unexpectedly sent tumbling to the ground.

Rage recovered better than Arthur had anticipated and, as he went to attack Rage's downed body, was likewise sent reeling from a swift kick by Rage, though this one was to the stomach.

As Arthur coughed from the unexpected blow, Rage did an uppercut to put Mortal Kombat to shame that should have left his opponent unconcious... but it didn't.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

The former soldier's jaw spun with great pain as Rage sent his swift fist into an uppercut, knocking him slightly off balance but he managed to gain hold of his excellent footing. With a grimace, he gave a loud curse as he loosened his right leg and retorted with another kick to the shins. It made a sizable impact, evident with a grotesque sound, but Rage had not lost enough momentum to divert his incoming onslaught and quickly swerved about to seize the suspended foot lost in the air. Arthur struggled about with the sudden grab while thrusting his sword ahead to stab his opponent in the gut. His rival finally released him within seconds, but his face soon collided into the cold gravel immedietely. Rage muttered something incoherently about the interference in the bounty as he sprang up to pounce on the fallen warrior. Adrenaline rushed into his veins, his heart pushing himself into the critical moments that lie before him. With a furious grunt full of inspiration, he heaved his discarded zweihander from the grimy ground forward to meet the frame of his assailant...

Rage gave something of a silly scream as he barreled to the side with his incredible reflexes, but met turbulence as he rammed into one of the walls of the mine shaft. Dust and various debry fell menancingly as the whole place shook with a low and ominious rumble. Arthur, ever so found of profanity, swore out loud as he nearly tumbled from the sudden quake. The abandoned ruin was fragile and the slightest movement was willing to disturb it. He clenched his grasp on his blade ever tighter as he snaked forward to meet his enemy. But he soon saw that he was running away to meet the common prey they shared. Urgently and with a moan of frustration, Arthur swung down swiftly and hurled a small quarry stone forward. To his great dismay, it did nothing but anger the mine's constituion more. Light soon reached his eyes as both of them emerged from the dinky and decrepit place, one in hot pursuit of the other.

"Curse you! You will not receive my pay! And I'm willing to kill for it!"

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

IC:
Rage laughed loudly at this last statement. "Kill... me? Boy, you have no idea what you just got yourself into," he said as he shoulder rammed Arthur into an overturned minecart.

Instead of falling over the minecart, Arthur stepped on it and backfliped into Rage's path. As soon as he landed, Arthur connected his fist with his opponent's face, so as to send him sprawling. But instead of falling as Arthur wanted, Rage groped for an abandon 2x4 and smashed it into his enemy's head. Arthur fell limp, not from the force of the blow but to lessen damage recieved from it.

Getting up quickly, Arthur taunted Rage... a mistake, to say the least. "Is that all you've got? I've felt worse from over zealous, half-starved beggars!" Then, to add injury to his insult, he chucked a well aimed rock at Rage's face. Pop! Crack!

Rage clutched his now broken nose in surprised pain. "You bastard! I shall turn your bones to dust and ash!" he yelled with a fireball blast towards his opponent. Arthur had no time to dodge or deflect, so he took it head on in an attempt to attack Rage after the initial blast.

No such luck, as Rage used the same 2x4 as a baseball bat and connected with Arthur's stomach, launching him thrity feet back. Still bleeding, Rage flew to Arthur's landing zone and elbow dropped in the center. Arthur was ready for this and had his legs ready to kick. Thunk! Thud! Arthur connected with Rage's side and instantly lurched back, sending Rage smashing into a building.

Rage stood among the wreckage and noticed his sword had fallen off sometime earlier. "Damn, musta dropped it when that Arthur fellow kicked me the first time. Damn good fighter though," he said to himself. Rage picked up a four foot lead pipe with a bore of an inch. "This'll do nicely."

As Rage finished choosing his weapon, Arthur burst in the door with a window shutter as a shield and a headless axe as a club. It seemed he too had dropped his weapons.

OoC:
There, thought I'd add a twist. They now have to use items they find as weapons.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

(Nice.)

Arthur rushed into the fray and immediately swung his axe handle violently at Rage. His opponent drooped low and lashed his pipe into Arthur's right hip. He gave a groan of great pain as he lurched back and clasped his bruised, inflamed hip. Holding his makeshift shield up, he caressed the burning and impact spot lightly as Rage came forward with fury. The pipe narrowly missed his temples as he leapt to the side. Metal clunked and clanged as the two fought intensely within the decrepit building, their wounds giving in to faster exhaustion. He wished that his blade was at his side now. It had been lost in the depths of the dark mine and there was not enough time to retrieve it. It was unwieldy with these makeshift weapons and he knew that his adversary was a worthy one. His minds raced with thoughts to turn the tide of the battle. It seemed like his opponent had barely used any of his strength but Arthur was now struggling to conserve his stanima. Blood dripped from the cut on his forehead as he plotted.

He bolted to the side suddenly and dropped his shutter because it was becoming quite cumbersome, attempting to thrust forward into the heart of the enemy. Rage whipped his thick pipe back and prepared to ram it into Arthur's skull. Arthur boldly launched his fist forward though and it soon met the wrath of the metal pipe. He let out a compressed sheik as he took back his hands and noticed the skin that was gone from the move. His rival seized the moment and delivered a blow to Arthur's head with a swift move of his right foot. A split ran into Arthur's head as he screamed again in agony, almost falling to the floor and discarding his stick. His hand saved his frame as he struggled to regain his position. Rage advanced with the pipe and prepared to strike but at the side of his eye, Arthur noticed a small stool, shorter than a child. His hands moved fast as his head throbbed with pain and the resounding echo of the horrible noise ran through his ears. Wood splintered in all directions as the stool met the pipe, but it had saved his face from the pipe. His opponent groaned in frustration and let out one boot to stomp on him but Arthur swept away on the grimy ground and sent a foot to trip him. Rage lost his balance for a mere moment but it was enough for Arthur to get up and seize an abandoned and dusty, porcelain bowl from an old table. He hurled it ahead as his brain began to numb with relief, hoping that it would send Rage into defeat.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

IC:
Rage attempted to block the oncoming bowl, but only managed to make it miss his face. Crash! The bowl shattered on impact, causing Rage some minor pain. It was the open wound dribbling blood that caused him to temporarily lose sight in his left eye.

Meanwhile, Arthur was attepting to free a board with nails jutting from it. "C'mon, just a little longer," he said to himself, as Rage swung around wildly in a blinded anger. Crack! The board came loose and Rage finally took a swing in the right direction, throwing Arthur through the wall to his right.

Rage used his newfound time to clear the blood from his face. when he found the wound, he packed some dirt on it. Was it hygenic? No. Did it matter? No. He stepped to the hole in the wall to see if Arthur was still concious.

When Rage peeked his head in the hole, a board with nails jutting from it met him half-way in. Arthur was breathing heavily... fatigue was setting in.

Rage tumbled backward onto a table, breaking it in half. He held the top of his head in pain. Son of a *****! What the hell was that? he thought. He stood slowly, grabbing an old oil lamp. He lit the lamp and smashed it in the next room, hoping to flush Arthur out.

Arthur had caught some of his breath, so he figured it was time to face his opponent. Suddenly, a burning lamp flew through the hole in the wall and lit the floor ablaze. "Oh SH-" he started, but a hand burst though the wall and gripped his neck tightly.

Rage had slammed his fist through the wall, grabbed hold of Arthur's neck, and yanked him through the wall... again. After that, he tossed his opponent through the window, lending time for Arthur to hide and catch his breath... which he did.

OoC:
Lot's of tossing and throwing in that one... oh well.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

Arthur gasped for air as he swung his arms about to regain his position. His body was suddenly immobile, maybe from the fall that he had taken through the window or the sheer fatigue of his body. He felt the sharp feeling of glass within his veins. His lungs were burning and he struggled forward to begin a defense against his incoming opponent. His legs retained feeling again just as Rage unleashed a barrage of powerful kicks into Arthur's chest. Blood spurted out from himself as he shakily tried to regain and balance. He sent his weakened fist forward but Rage promptly blocked it and swung his long legs forward to whittle down Arthur's vitality. Arthur managed to jump and grab Rage by the side. Slightly shooken, Rage fell to the ground as Arthur began an assault of his own. His eyes flashed to the side and his hands reached for a particularly sharpened rock to the side. It was slightly out of reach and as Arthur went for it, Rage seized the moment and with a push, he sent Arthur forward into a pile of debry. Coughing and wheezing, he got himself up quicker than normal, pushing his endurance to the limits. With a cry of rage, he lunged forward and Rage fell to his impulsive maneuvers once more. But within moments, Rage had escaped Arthur's tight grasp and this time, he ran into the streets.

Arthur pursued him wearily, but determined to elimanate his foe. Rage had dashed into an alley. Darkness set in and Arthur began to lose his sense of direction as he found a junction. He frantically swung his head back and forth to see if anybody else was there but the corridor was empty, it seemed. Suddenly, he heard a sudden movement and his eyes darted to nearly ever angle his psyche he could think of. But there was a sudden jolt to his head as someting dropped to the dirty ground. He turned back and saw that there was a stone-- no, it was a rotten apple that had struck him in the back. And as he looked up towards an old roof, he saw that the rogue held a sly grin and was hurling the expired fruits at him. Another whipped at Arthur's face and had left a swelling bruise in his head. He groaned with frustration as he leapt up to a short landing and began to go after Rage. He had already left though and was bolting towards an abandoned market. Arthur quickly redrew his route and with his reserves of his breath, cursed loudly at Rage. He stopped in his tracks though when his adversery had removed a pole hastily from an abandoned market stall awning. The decor fell as Arthur too took another shaft. Their eyes were met with fury and strength.

"En garde!"

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

OoC:
Watch out, I'm back!

IC:
Rage held the pole precariously. The Napaj half of him knew how to wield blunt weapons, not staves... Ranul made up for that. Spinning the staff overhead, Rage leaped onto a support pole of on of the stalls.

Arthur jumped on one three feet from the first, only to be sent crashing back down by a swift strike over the head. "Oof!" he exclaimed, landing with a soft, Thud..

Rage laughed uproarously at Arthur's seemingly pained rump, leaving him completely unready for attack. Arthur brought his staff up between Rage's legs, turning the laughter into an unnatural groan, "Waohnm!"

It was Arthur's turn to laugh, as Rage groped furiously at his "wound" and rolled about yelling. Arthur then kicked Rage's stomach, but only succeded in giving the Angel a grasp on him.

Rage pulled Arthur's leg out from under him and launched the knight into the air. Rage used the pole for support as he stood, pain still plaguing his groin. Arthur landed on his feet a few yards away. Resizing up his opponent, Rage charged headlong and weaponless at Arthur's seemingly unready position.

Thock! Instead of meeting with Arthur's body, Rage met with a small, staff-like pole.

OoC:
Okay, that was a little more humorous than the previous ones.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

(I'm out of it today but here I go.)

Arthur's eyes seared with delight and vigor as he stormed forward towards his disabled opponent, his hands clutching the bruises endured by the exchange of pole blows. The impulsive one had already fallen for the feint though and as he moved forward, Rage gave his rival some trickery by lashing his discarded pole into the Arthur's right side. Hot pain and discomfort shot up his nerves as he stumbled in various directions before Rage came forward and shoved him into the muddy earth, sending his poles a ways off. Humilated by the tactical blunder, Arthur faced the fury of Rage's painful kicks as he wheeled into the soldier's fallen frame. As he tried to pick himself up admist the assault, a boot struck him straight into the nose and with a loud grunt of pain, he fell back again into the wet brown puddle. Clothes stained and blood dripping from his broken nose, he swung with fury to return the damage. His fists thumped connected into some ribs but as the enemy lurched away, his hand met the sweet contact of the concrete walls. Arthur cursed loudly as he swelled with pain all over, blood protruding from his injured knuckles. His body was sustaninig too much and he would not last much longer. But Rage did not seem to wear out at all. He summoned his spirit again and as Rage prepared to strike, Arthur grabbed him suddenly and slammed him into the cold wall.

The angel was resilient, even if the impact had sent a the farmilar sound of a bone cracking. He shouted with such a vigor that even Arthur was taken unready. Rage looked like he would tear through Arthur as he swooped forward and sent another barrage of fists in the soldier's direction. Their eyes flashed with anger as Arthur's fists barreled and connected with Rage's in a lock of strength. He jammed himself forward in order to overpower Rage, but it was not enough to beat the determined warrior. His foot went forward though and before Rage could block it, it had sent him down towards a box of old crates. As the fallen one stood groaning with pain, Arthur made his way into a sprint but as he became suspended into mid air, Rage's psyche surged ahead and with his hands, he grabbed Arthur middescent. As he struggled to get released from his firm grasp, Rage spun his trapped body several times before he hurled it into a dark market place, where the assailant could only make out the shadows. Only a low, weary groan could be heard but not a stir came from within.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

OoC:
This has been fun, but I say it's time to end it. Two more posts for each of us (counting this one) and we're done, agreed?

IC:
Rage, once again torn by his psyche, was attempting to decide whether he should leave Arthur there or if he shoulf finish the knight off. Rage compramised the two and went to see if Arthur was alive. If so, then Arthur would be stuffed into a crate somewhere and left to his own fate. If Arthur was dead, however, Rage would give him a proper burial.

What Rage found was a surprise.

Arthur was lying on the ground face up and eyes shut. But he wasn't unconcious... he was waiting. In his right hand was a handfull of sand, drawn and ready to cast. He listened as Rage drew closer, but still his eyes remained shut. No room for error this time, he thought.

Rage bent down to feel for a pulse when the world suddenly went dark. The trap was sprung and Arthur was on his feet in an instant after having given Rage a face full of sand.

"Ragh! What the hell do you think you are doing?" Rage yelled to his now unseen foe. Arthur remained silent.

He can't hit what he can't see. Now if I can remain quiet, I should now have the upper hand, Arthur thought, moving silently behind Rage.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

The silhouette of Arthur danced siniously amongst the darkened and decrepit market. His eyes shifted and his mind began calculating a way to seize this chance and bring down his opponent. The moment was critical to an easy victory and if indecision would overwhelm him, the chance would be blown away and a much more difficult road to conquering his enemy would be set. A glint caught his sly eyes as he began to move towards the stacked crates and bury his opponent in them, but he had found a razor halfway during his advance. His hands darted towards it and he retreived it quickly. He dissmised the much more stealthly idea with the crates and he hurried over. He grabbed hold of his opponent, frantically trying to grab hold of his surroundings or wipe away the sand, ready to slit the throat with the discarded razor. However, Rage was much quicker and his amazing relfexes had let loose a scream and sent the bulky upper torso of his upper body, with Arthur far too fatigued to resist and crashing into a floor with a thud and a groan. The instrument flew out of Arthur's hand and out of the Rage's line of view, who then proceeded to pummel Arthur mercilessly, angered by the dirty tactics Arthur had used.

He took the hits with great screaming and heavy grimacing, sending his body into a difficult world of hurt. His eyes began to water as Rage prepared to finish him off as he went away to seize a board and bash Arthur's skull open, but the mercenary had regained some grasp of his injured soul and body and let loose a spinning kick that caught Rage in the back and sent him below into the earth. Arthur breathed and prepared to drain his last reserves of strength into a sprint. Rage, not ready to let him go after his deceptions stormed after him in a fury, reddening his face. Arthur had made his way back to where the bloody brawl had started, outside of the dark mine shaft. Sweat dripped down his throbbing temples and itensive panting parched his lungs as he made his way into the tunnel, not exactly sure where he was going. He scrambled over the granite and debry. And there was his massive zweihander, not very far from where he had left it.

"I have you now."

Arthur turned and faced his opponent wielding his prized sword, "Or rather, I do."

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

OoC:
This battle is nearly three months old... funny how time flies.

IC:
Rage was able to see just enough to make out the outline of his foe... and his foe's weapon. ****, I'm not going to last this one out, he thought whilst desperately trying to come up with a plan.

Arthur, now reassured by his weapon, started to advance upon his adversary. Lifting the zweihander for a swift downward strike, Arthur began to think about all that had happened. Something about a bounty? Where was this in his mind, he wondered sullenly.

Rage took the opportunity as it presented itself to attack. He punched Arthur in the gut, relieving him of any air he had in his lungs, and kicked him away. Rage needed his weapon now. If he remembered correctly, it would respond to him if he was close enough, so he took off into a darkened tunnel.

Arthur stood, expecting to be set upon by Rage's relentless punches, but found only an empty tunnel. "Where'd the bastard go?" he said aloud. He wandered slowly through the tunnel, striking at things he thought were Rage waiting to sneak-attack. Mine-carts, supports, rocks... all attacked in Arthur's confusion.

Meanwhile, Rage was having a hell of a time finding his sword. C'mon dammit, where'd I drop it? he'd ask himself from time to time. That's when, suddenly, he heard a soft humming. The hum of an enchanted weapon. He followed the hum straight to his sword, picking it up gingerly. Rage smiled darkly. "Now I can finish this." And he took off back the way he came. He met Arthur after only a few moments of running.

Arthur saw that Rage had recovered his weapon as well and swallowed doubtfully. Ah ****... this is it! he thought, hefting up for an attack.

Re: Deserted, destroyed town (1 on 1)

The warrior stopped suddenly as the odd hum of Rage's sword hummed across the abandoned town. The sky darkened ominously as Arthur gave a deep glare at his enemy, who gave gave back an equally fierce gaze. Arthur's grasp on his blade tightened suddenly as the cries of the heavens poured down into the mother earth. The mercenary gave a light sniff of the refreshing and damp scent as he continuied to look down, ready to retaliate any sudden move. It was true that he was very tired and only his willpower had allowed him to push back his limits, but he had told himself that his power was infinite. Had it been minutes or hours since this battle had started? It would end soon, Arthur could sense it. The next few moments would decide the battle. The opponent looked thirsty for blood, but Arthur would not let him have it. He focused his mind and breathed deeply to rest his inflamed lungs. Arthur knew and felt the aura of Rage, strong and determined but he would not reap his victory now. But who would move first?

He answered his own question once his feet left the hilltop and glided town towards his destiny.

He was not going to waste his breath with a battle cry, he immedietely started for Rage. It was no time for rash or impulsive actions, he had let enough chances slip. It would only be by skill that he would emerge as the victor now. Steel met steel with thunderous crash as the two met tensely. The weight of the blade felt like a fraction of what it was before to Arthur and he moved it effortlessly to repel the blows that Rage advanced with. He thrusted suddenly but Rage gracefully broke into a backflip and curved his strike. Arthur swerved skillfully and loosed a kick forward but Rage brought down his mighty sword as the mercenary swiftly came back with his own brand to block it. Arthur's visage was intense, as was Rage's and they both seem to acknowleddge each other's skill. A squall roared in the distance nearby as rain fell in a constant downpour, providing a small break in the lengthy battle. Arthur spun his sword quickly and as he ascended towards Rage, a streak of energy seared across the sky. Rage blazed in a crimson streak to avoid the blow and he rolled ahead to meet his enemy. The swords continuied to exchange blows in the rain and it would seem like the only victor would be the one who had not fall of exhaustion first. And that, would not seem to be soon. Arthur knew that the finale was at hand and he would have to use all the deepest recesses of his mind to conjure the coup de grace. The sky danced with lightning and Arthur's eyes narrowed into a wicked glare. He surged forward, past Rage with a final burst of speed and with one valiant blow, cleaved a tree in half right over Rage. The timber fell with great speed and as Arthur moved to escape and observe if he had crushed his opponent, the lightning crackled menancingly. And then, he felt nothing. His eyes were heavy and he felt himself fading away, giving one final glance at emptiness. A flash of white and Arthur saw no more.

(Meh. I'm no good at making endings. Try if you'd like.)
