Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
Name: Kurtis Nightshield
Age: 26 Race: Elf Sex: Female Hair: Long dark brown with silver stripes reflecting the moonlight Eyes: Emerald green Weight: 47 kgs Height: 6’3” Weapons: the “Narahan”: a long sword named after her father to help her remember his vengeful spirit Bow and arrow: the natural weapon of the elves and Kurtis is no exception Armour: “Nightshield”: medium sized shield covered with the emblem of her family passed down from mother to daughter and never failing to protect the lives of the bearer Backplate: a simple metal backplate made of several parts for flexibility but strong enough to withstand most unexpected attacks Magic: Slowfalling: an old magic taught to younger ones of the wood to stop injuries as they move through trees, Kurtis has developed this spell to hold her body and prevent falling when needed Calm Mind: used to slow down and think straight when in the midst of a battle. Helps to strike back quickly and almost slow time when combined with concentration Personality: Sharp, witty and evil in all respects, this girl will leave you out to dry with quick, well placed comments and perceptions and then make sure everyone knows it! Apperance: Picture attached doesn’t contain backplate or colour but is fairly close (She might or might not wear a cloak) Bio: Kurtis grew up in the woods in a small community of elves like herself. It was quickly established that she had some advanced skills but it wasn’t until they were attacked that it showed. A pack of wolves attacked the encampment one night. It was raining which made it impossible for the elves to hear them coming. It was Kurtis’ father (Narahan) who first saw them coming and he grabbed the two youngest children closest to him and jumped for the trees. The other adults quickly followed suite and as the wolves entered the clearing the ones unable to fight (including Kurtis) were safe from harms way. The first wolf leapt forward and out of nowhere Kontra (the community’s leader at the time) was holding a sword and the wolf fell to the ground. The other wolves took this as their queue to attack. The elves fought as they had perfected over the centuries and wolf after wolf fell without a single elf getting so much as a scratch. The battle lasted only minutes and just as it all quietened down, two final wolves leapt from the darkness. The first was only centimetres away from Narahan when Kurtis’ flew out of nowhere and knocked the wolf to the ground. The second wolf leapt at Kurtis but in a strange use of slowfall she stopped just above the wolf and dug a dagger deep into it. The body of the second wolf fell to the ground but the first was already up again and it bowled Narahan over. Three arrows were loosed instantly and the wolf slumped over dead but it had managed to get a claw into Narahan’s neck and he died shortly after. Kurtis’ mother brought her up by herself with the help of the other leaders but Kurtis never forgave herself for letting her father down. She trained night and day, timing herself up trees and practising simple combos over and over again until she could do them with such accuracy and speed that she became a force to be reckoned with. Around twelve years after Narahan had died, Kutis’ mother died as well during a raid by a human party from the local town. Although 14 others died in the attack, the community couldn’t help but feel sadness for Kurtis who had lost all family (she had had no brothers or sisters). She took to her own after that, learning to live with nothing except her weapons, clothes and memories. Learning how to feed herself, mend herself and amuse herself took time but around one and a half years after leaving she was living normal life besides her self exclusion. She roams the forests and rarely goes near settlements except when food is running scarce and the only way to get some is to fight for it. Setting: Deserted village at midnight In character: I looked around, surveying my surroundings. The dark seemed to move, as an elf she could see almost as though it was day but it was still creepy. He was running late! They had agreed to end it here and now and he wasn't here. Had he chickened out or was he trying to gain something from being late I didn't know. the wind picks up as I stand on the roof of a small house, able to see for miles around but able to be seen from even further. And so I waited.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
Name: Drakorl (dray-korl)
Age: 16-17 Race: fallen angel (has wings but cannot fly) Hair: blonde with red stripes Weight: 95 kg Eyes: bright blue Weapons: magic staff is as light as wood but as solid as steel. Can be used to cast spells Spell list Lispexus: a stun spell not very powerful lasts until enemy is hit with any kind of attack. Derivion: a powerful spell that uses the surroundings to disarm a foe. also has a spell book to learn spells from. Armor: none (offence is the best defense) just a white cloak and strong wings. Personality: kind and helpful unless provoked has a bad temper and wont stop until someone gets hurt whether it be himself or someone else. IC: The elf was getting impatient but Drakorl knew that if he kept her waiting he would get a much better fight from her. The lone angel walked through a pile of rubble that had once been a succesfull market alwayse full of people running around doing daily errands and having fun. But now it had been reduced to rocks and dust, many of the houses still remain but the only creatures to hang around were rats scurrying around for food. It was dark and Drakorl could hardly see, he pointed his staff and muttered something to himself and a red light shot out instantly setting a disregarded pile of wood alight. "Decided to show up" came a voice Drakorl spun around to see the elf, she jumped down and walked up to the angel who was suprisingly shorter then she was, "well lets not wast any more time then eh?" Drakorl could sence a hint of anger in the way she spoke but he said nothing and got ready, this would not be easy but he did not expect it to be.........

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
"Just wondering, you aren't scared to hit a lady are you" she taunted, "if not, prove it"
Drakorl leapt onto the roof where she stood and she leapt into the air, Drakorl jumped after her but she suddenly stopped in mid air and he fell past her. Sword in hand she swung and cleanly took off a large section of Draks hair as he fell back to the ground. "whats the matter, cant the angel fly?" with that she charged at him, jumped over him and kicked him in the back. The battle was on!

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
It was dark, too dark. Drakorl had no chance of winning if he could not even see his challenger, then it hit him (an idea not the elf) he had lit a fire earlier it still had to be burning. " c'mon your not trying" came a voice, Drakorl looked around but it was no use he could not see her but the fire was only a short distance away, he ran as fast as he could but he could hear himself being followed, it was like a traditional chase. The angel knew he was going to be caught but he kept running. Drakorl had reached the fire which had spread to a nearby house he picked up a plank of burning wood and threw it as far as he could the fire soon catching on a tree. "this will even it out" .....

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
"Even it out? Hmm, yep, you'r gonna win now" She retreated into the shadows "You can't see me anymore, but I can see you even more clearly now, great strategy!"
An arrow flew into his left wing and stuck. Drak doubled over from the pain but straightened up again and his staff emitted white powder which floated down onto his wound. "Either you're off target or you're just playing with me" he called out into the darkness. "I'm just playing with you" she whispered in his ear. He spun around annoyed at himself for falling for her trick.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
Drakorl dived behind a house, looking around hopefully was not going to help anyone, but that was it looking was not the key. He closed his eyes and listened there was the crackling of fire and the howling of the wind, and finally he heard what he was listening for the soft sound of feet padding their way towards him, the sound was coming from the fiery side of the house, as silently as possible Drakorl climbed onto the roof just in time for an arrow to fly past and hit a tree. he had her just where he wanted. He swung down hitting her firmly in the chest causing her to stumble back towards the fire. To Drakorl's great pleasure she did a back flip over the burning rubble " didnt expect that, did you?" laughed the elf. For the first time Drakorl had actually seen her face "i did expect it, even more i had hoped for it" smirked the angel " derivion " he cried. The fire picked up, flames as tall as the tree glistened in the moon light, houses, trees and anything flamable soon became flaming. With a look of sheer horror Kurtis ran but was soon surrounded but flames they started to shoot towards her, using her sword to protect her was the first but worst thing she did, it was knocked out of her hands and landed a few metres behind her....the area was alight Drakorl could see and the first thing he did was go after the sword while the elf tried her best to fight the flames.......

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
She jumped as high as she could and stopped in mid air again. The flames couldn't reach her from here. She drew her bow and launched two at Draks feet making him stop short of the sword.
"Seems you do have a brain" she chided. She fell from the sky, rolled and flipped over the wreckage. Drak made for the sword again but bow still in hand Kurtis shot another at him. Deflecting the arrow with his staff he made for the sword. She landed with her legs either side of the sword and a cruel smile on her face. She grabbed the sword and swung the nightshield down from her shoulder. Concentrating, she lunged at him, knocking his staff upwards but he used the other end to deliver a light blow to her legs. Slowly he forced her back even though she tried. Her back was soon against the fire. Drak took a big swing upwards. She grabbed the staff and used its momentum to throw her over him and kick him into the fire.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
He could feel the flames up against his body, he cried in pain. Kurtis was standing over him laughing. Drakorl had a chance, it was either succeed or die trying, pointing his staff at the elf he could feel the flames burning his hair and his clothes "LISPEXUS" he cried, a red beam of light shot out hitting the confused elf in the stomach. She flew back into a tree, the impact waking her from the stun but giving Drakorl enough time to jump up out of the fire and cool himself off. the two warriors panting and rubbing their wounds, they were so evenly matched but each to stubborn to admit it.......

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
"Wasn't that fun, I've got plenty more tricks up my sleeve so I hope you'll be around long enough to see them all, but whens hoping ever got us anywhere." Kurtis loosed an arrow from her bow and it landed in the dirt at Draks feet.
"Well I hope for yoursake that you can keep up with me" Drak replied feircly. "Well hows about a little running race to see whether I can keeps up? No? How about a bit of inspiration then?" She loaded two arrows and aimed for the heart. "Better start running eh?" Drak got the message and started running. "Derivion" he yelled as he ran. A plank of wood shot out from a house but Kurtis shot the arrows before the bow was thrown to the ground. One arrow clipped the back of Draks leg, the other landed uselessly on the side of the road.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
His leg stung but it was nothing serious, he turned down a path that once was used as a back entrance to the bakery it was one of the only buildings in the village that was not burning.
Drakorl rammed the door with his shoulder " heh easy access" he slowly walked in, looking around there was evidence to show there may have been a great battle in this village old skeletons on the floor, blood stains on the untouched wooden floors a pot on the stove had been on the boil, it seems that the village was raided unexpectedly. Suddenly he saw it, a shield. Drakorl picked it up. "you cant hide forever" came the elf's voice for a second Drakorl had forgotten about her and had been thinking about the lives of the families. A large spider crawled out from under the body that had been holding the shield, Drakorl stomped on it...big mistake! Kurtis had heard the noise from outside and had come in the door "ha! finally found you" she chuckled "now its time to say goodnight" with that she dashed at him, drakorl raised the shield. The elf hit it hard enough for Drakorl to go crashing out through the front door, but the recoil had forced her to the ground........they both stood glaring at one another.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
She could feel the hatred run through her but she calmed her mind and let it go. They were both glaring at each other.
"I suppose I underestimated you" Kurtis admitted. "And the same with you" Drakorl replied. "Pity though..." "Whats a pity?" "This..." She threw an arrow at him and it dug into his foot. "Why do you say pity though?" "Hurt leg, hurt foot, hardly able to walk I'd warrent. Now killing you won't be so much fun!" "Still wont be easy!" Drak swung his staff and knocked her over. She fell forward but just as she was about to hit the ground she stopped, put her hands out and pushed herself back up. Drak swung again but she jumped back from it and drew her sword

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
She swung her sword but it was blocked by Drakorl's shield he swung it was blocked, this continued for a while untill Kurtis got a hit through cutting Drakorl's arm, he flinched she took the opportunity to shove him to the floor. She slowly moved her sword towards Drakorls neck, still clutching his shield and staff he worried "any last words?" said Kurtis convincingly " yeah, just one" caughed Drakorl, " Lispexus" he whispered "what was that?" taunted Kurtis although she had no idea what he had said. "LISPEXUS!" yelled Drakorl and the elf was hit with such force she was thrown over a table top. Drakorl got up and staggered to the door, outside the area was still burning worse than before. He picked up a burning log and carried it inside, carefully he placed it next to the wall. Drakorl repeated this process a few times before walking over to a non burnt tree to rest. by now the sun was rising and a wonderful red light was beaming over the now not so calm village......"what have we done?" he muttered to himself

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
Kurtis awoke. The walls were alight and were burning fast, she was trapped, but she had one last chance.
she cleared her mind, and waited, the beams supporting the roof were burning through. The beams broke and the roof collased, at that moment she leapt upwards, her shield above her head. She focussed on staying above the ground, the beams pressured her down and down but she focussed and she was held suspended above the ground. Her shield was burning, her arm was agonizingly painful but she kept going. The walls caved in and she threw her shield to the side and then she was free. She let herself down and ran across the burning wood as fast as possible. She tore off her shirt and wrapped it around her arm to stop the pain. then she grabbed her sword, and readied herself to fight.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
The houses were still burning as the first couple drops of rain emurged from the sky, soon it was pouring with rain the fires reduced to dim red glowing logs and planks. " At least i can see this time" muttered the Angel as he pulled himself up off the ground He pulled out his staff and looked directly at Kurtis " you sure you want to continue?" asked Drakorl " I wont be happy untill its over" replied Kurtis with a glance at a falling piece of wood, drakorl had his chance he charged at her not as fast as he could have but still fast enough, Kurtis darted out the way and responded with an arrow which was deflected by Drakorl's shield.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
Kurtis was sore, bruised and burnt so she had to keep back and make small jabs and light swings.
Drak charged again to which the elf met by going down on one knee and striking upwards. The angel blocked this but Kurtis grabbed onto the staff and swung under the angels open legs and kicked him in the back of the head. Then she grabbed her sword and aggressed on her stumbling attacker adding a quick kick to the back of the knees aswell.

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
Drakorl fell to the ground panting, with a firm push off the ground Drakorl launched himself off the ground and into the air just high enough to kick Kurtis in the stomach. she stumbled backwards into a wall. There was water all over the ground and both Drakorl and Kurtis were drenched, it soon turned into hail but that did not stop the two battlers. Kurtis spun around with a sword attack but was parried by Drakorls staff, he knocked her to the ground she knelt on her hands and knees Drakorl took a hard swing at her back but it was pointless, she was wearing a back plate. Kurtis got up and turned around to face drakorl......

Re: Village Battle: Kurtis vs Drakorl
"That the best you can do?" She swung her sword up but it was parried by the staff.
"Shall I try again?" The elf swung sideways but again it was blocked "Once more" Kurtis jabbed but was pushed away "Too bad you forgot something!" She flipped backwards kicking the angel in the head as she turned. Then as Drak was stumbling she drew her bow and loosed an arrow into her opponents wing. Silver blood dripped to the ground... "Did that hurt, I'm sorry, here, I'll even out the pain!" She loosed another into his other wing before dropping to the ground and drawing her sword once more.
