Song of Storms / Windmill Hut on Piano w/ new section & improvs
Hi again!
I did some recordings of Song of Storms on piano, and arranged it with some new improvised sections..I ended up doing it several different ways, so I posted the versions I liked and made a playlist of them as well. If any, I would listen to the first and last one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcA_T...6BD5AD&index=0 |

That is really, really good. One thing I must say though is (please excuse my terminology here, I'm a metal guitarist, not a pianist), I personally think you should have ended it at the end of the last time you played the main riff, though the ending is still good, it unnecessarily drags the piece on IMHO.
All is all though, it was awesome, loving your improvs as well. |

Wow, I'm so sorry I took so long to respond to this, I'm having trouble getting comment notifications to work.
Cody, please go right ahead! Where can I find this section? Arcanine, that's an interesting observation - I'm not quite sure myself, because when it comes to a familiar theme, I think there is also a greater anticipation in people's ears and minds to hear a song in a certain way; I thought it was OK to keep though, because people who aren't familiar with the original song didn't seem to notice a distinct differences between sections even if they were listening closely. I lean towards more freedom in expanding on the original song rather than playing closer to it, but that' s definitely a debatable preference. I think this is also the bias of my jazz and (classical) composition background. |
