Shinesparks's Zelda Fan-Art
Okay, this needs a bit of background first, as this art is very specific. For those of you who don't know, I am currently writing an Ocarina of Time Retelling (link here if you're interested). In this I am trying to make the world of OoT far more realistic and believable, and as such, have been forced to change some things from the original game. This fan-art is the result of how I have re-imagined some of the items and creatures from this classic game.
Before you see any of this, please be aware that most of it is sketches. And I do apologize for the use of lined paper, but I currently have nothing else at my disposal. Also, I don't have a scanner, so I had to take a picture of them and upload it to my computer, so the quality may be lacking. So, without further ado, let's go: The first picture is obviously a Bomb Flower. In place of the "crown" on top of the Bomb Flower, I have replaced with more of a blossom of sorts. Somewhat similar to dandelion fluff. The second picture is my re-imagining of the Hookshot. You'll notice the three "hoops" I have placed where one would normally hold the device. Well, it has to do with how the Hookshot functions. On the original, there seems to be no switch to make it fire, retract, whatever. So, I have added these three "hoops", into which one would insert their fingers, and pull them to activate switches. One switch fires the Hookshot. The second is an addition of mine, that makes the hook open up into four hooks to better grapple onto whatever it's attached to. The third switch closes the hook back up and retracts the chain. Third picture is the Megaton Hammer and is, by far, the worst of the pictures I have uploaded. The thinner parts of the handle were meant to be grips to hold onto, but ended up looking... not quite how I wanted them to. I also modified the hammer head. The fourth and fifth pictures are of enemies. I want to see if any of you guys can guess which enemies I have re-envisioned. The second is kind of obvious, I think, but the first has been altered quite a bit. ![]()

Nope. Neither of those. Look carefully at the picture. The clue is concealed in the details.

Re: Shinesparks's Zelda Fan-Art
Dude, it's a bomb flower.
EDIT: Oops, i thought he said picture, not enemy. My bad. But the first picture is a bomb flower ![]() EDIT 2: Is the first enemy Phantom Ganon? The clue has to be the fact that his hand is invisible. Now that i think about it, that can't be Phantom Ganon... Uhh, well i tried.

Re: Shinesparks's Zelda Fan-Art
Nice pictures comrade.
Id have to say the first enemy picture seems to be a poe, though I might certainly be off... As for the second it likes like some sort of Chu, but once more I don't know. The Hammer is a bit odd looking, but it doesn't look too bad and with slight alterations you mighty have it brillantly done yet! Though, one suggestion would be thickening the whole handle, then making the crips about the size of the large handle as it is now, so as to add mass to support the heavy hammer head. Just a suggestion.

Wrong on both counts, though that's a pretty good guess for the first one. Thanks. Quote:

And remember, people, Koulatio is onto something with the hand being invisible on that first enemy. That's a huge clue to his identity if you really think about it. And now, my newest little sketch. Gohma's Lair. The pillars are supposed to be like tree trunks with veins wrapped around them. I'm not sure how well I portrayed it. The ceiling as well is supposed to be covered in veins. The large black snake-like things are larger veins, that pulsate from the central eye in the ceiling and spread Gohma's evil throughout the Deku Tree. The creature at the far back of the room is the carcass of the spider-like beast that the eye later inhabits. Some of the perspectives in this picture are a little off, but all in all, I like the way it turned out. Oh, and ignore that black bit in the upper right hand corner. That's the table I laid the page on to take the picture (still no scanner) and I couldn't get all of it out when I cropped it. ![]()

Re: Shinesparks's Zelda Fan-Art
Yay, more artwork. This time... a peahat.
![]() For those who haven't read my story, I'll give a bit of explanation as to how I have changed this classic Zelda enemy, lest you be confused by the representation I am about to present. I have interpreted the peahat as a plant more than an animal. My peahat has a large central root at the base of it that is the main attachment between it and the ground. The four dark tendril like things extending from the base of the body to the ground are other roots. These however, are extremely malleable. The peahat can detach these four roots and flatten and stiffen them out into blades. It's base is a free-rotating motor (something rarely seen in nature) that can turn fast enough to use these blades to take flight. It then detaches and retracts the central root into it's base, which is mostly composed of a pulp-like material covered in soil. The rest of the peahat is composed of a fleshy sort of sac, covered in roots that extend from the flower on its crown all the way down to the base, where the roots all go internal and combine to form the five large roots. On the top is it's blossom, which I couldn't really get right. Something is wrong with the perspective of the flower, but I can't figure out how to amend it. In any case, this is the only part of the peahat that is visible when it is in the ground, similar to its in-game counterpart. Only when it senses disturbances up above does it uproot and defend itself, using the blades not only as a propeller, but as weapons. And that's about it. That is how the peahat of my design functions.
