Mari's Sketchy Sketches...

Now, I am not much of an artist mind you... I don't really know how to do things.. I just draw things that become something. I guess. All criticism is appreciated. Especially if it is helpful.Keep in mind however, that I KNOW that I DON'T KNOW how to draw. So, telling me that I am not very good, is just something I already know and don't wanna hear. Haha.

That said, lookit here! (All of these are also on my DA. :3 )

A new one!

You can find the whole little tale behind this at my DA, because it is sorta vulgarly worded..

Re: Mari's Sketchy Sketches...

If you want to get better, the only way to do so is to draw from real life as much as possible.

You can maybe even take an art class, or purchase any art how-to books!

Best of luck!

Note: If drawing whatever makes you feel good, don't stop

Those are not necessarily the ways to approach good art. If any of you have actually taken an art or design course, then you should be aware that, to the very least, contemporary art is hardly concerned with the celebration of anatomy or drawing from real life.

Anyway, these are good compositions. I'm just assuming these are non-representational, art for the sake of art sketches, but it looks like you're heading somewhere with THUNDERDALLING and Murtok... I especially like THUNDERFALLING, though-- it looks like something I'm trying to approach on a canvas I have somewhere in my studio.

What about it? Are you implying that I'm contradicting myself? What you linked is a depiction of the fan fiction New Age. The approach I took for the depictions were the ones I found to be most viable, but are they close to being great art just because they seem to be anatomically correct? That's not really the case, is it? I think I ought to edit my post, because I originally wrote:

I think it should be

It's true, really. My formal works are all about design and achieving personal style. Hardly any of my work celebrates anatomy or still life-- at least not bluntly. I just felt like bringing this up because I get the impression that most of the ZU artists are only looking for certain aspects and only critique based on anatomy and realism. A VERY realistic sketch of a person or figure hardly makes an interesting composition or a good work of art.

I don't know, browse Sotheby's. Here's an example of contemporary art:

ooo, I really like Shirley and the Rock. I love the effect you've got on your drawings, the bold scratchy kind. If you're interested, I'm on DA too, just under Sonamus XP I'll have to check out your account right away ^^

we don't critique based on anatomy or realism, if you can't understand what people that really understand about art are saying, don't waste our time replying to our posts
we are not asking Marius to make a realistic work, we are asking him to study human anatomy, before stylizing his characters and making them the way he wants, even the person that created The Simpsons had a sketch book full of real life drawings/anatomy
first a person must be good with the normal anatomy to just then stylize it and make things as they want meh, I can't explain that now, IGNIS enraged me :<
