Ranny's Guide to Drawing Horses

So, I've been considering this for a long time now, and I've finally decided to whip up tutorials for drawing horses. ;D

Horses are actually simple to draw when you follow the right steps. We'll start with the most basic horse tutorial you can find: the horse's head. Here we go!



This is not perfect, but I think my Paint result came out good enough.

When you're through with your drawing, I recommend you compare it to a real horse. My tutorial is just the basics. :3 Btw, I added the stripe on the horse's face in the end for kicks. There's lots of different horse markings you can add to your horse, and I will show them next time!

Oh well, at least people have been viewing the thread, so I'll present my info on horse markings next. I don't have time to do the horse body tut today. >_<



This is only some of the different markings. I didn't want to add every single one, but you can find others online.

But now you know of some interesting markings you can draw on your horses. :3

Pretty good. I won't try it but it looks like it would work well.

With the dorsal stripe, the body of that horse is quite out of proportion... I'm not sure if you would like crit for that.

Nah, it was just a rough sketch to show a dorsal stripe. I wasn't trying to make it look fancy or anything. I know it's very out of proportion. XD

I've been busy lately and haven't gotten around to my next tut. I should soon, though, seeing as spring break is coming up. :]

And shading would make that horse head look even more realistic, btw, so I recommend horse artists shade and always!
