Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

Yeah, I think I went a little overboard here. I really wanted some Zelda clothing but I'm too afraid to go into sketchy stores to buy them so I came up with the great idea of painting my pants.

Here's the finished image (sorry for the bad quality):

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

Lol, I think that's actually really impressive. Epona looks great. Link could use a little work, as well as your background, but overall it looks really well done in my opinion. I'd wear if I had painted it.

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

Thanks! The only thing I'm worried about si the paint coming off. So now I have to be extra careful when I wash them.

And yeah, I'm totally wearing these to school tomorrow.

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

For paint, that is quite a good job.

It's a good idea, but this may make you more prone to wedgies compared to wearing "cool" game pants. Wear with caution.

Here's a better image. And, I'm not worried about wedgies. If I get any, they're worth it!

Amazing, though it will probably crack the first time you wear them

It's quite impressive. :3 Why didn't you just use fabric paint if you were planning on wearing them though? o-o

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

Ok to answer a few questions:

1. I wore them to school today and they didn't crack, thankfully.
2. It's acrylic so it won't wash off. I didn't have fabric paints and they're not too cheap around where I live so I just decided to go the cheap route. Ultimately the pants won't last long especially if I plan on wearing them, but it's fun while it lasts.
3. Also, this was a total out of the blue project and I didn't bother to research whether or not I should be using fabric paints in the first place. It's my own fault. It still looks cool.
4. I'll take a pic of me wearing them and put it up soon.

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

Have you thought about getting some of that spray-on varnishy stuff to spray over the paint, to keep it in good condition?

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

It took me about two hours--though it might have been less since I had to take breaks to watch layers dry.

I did think about spray varnish but I'm not sure what kind would work or whether I should or not. It sounds like a good idea though.

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

I'd say just go to any store that sell art supplies (Michael's is probably a good idea) and see if anyone that works there has a good idea or just spy through the internet to see if someone has an answer on what varnish works best on acrylic.

I could probably give you an answer if I could remember what kind of varnish my grandmother used to use, but I can't. xP All I remember is that it's best to varnish it more than once.

That's awesome! Make it, but don't wear it. Send it to me instead! I'll send you pics wearing it, I swear!

Hahaha, nice try Sotiris!

And thanks for the tip, Karma. A little googling never hurt anybody. There is a Micheal's craft store about 45 minutes away from where I live so I might just go down there.

Re: Zelda Fanart: Painted Jeans

Hey thanks guys for all the compliments. It's nice to appreciated by fellow Zelda fans.

Here's me wearing the pants (or at least my legs). There's a little triforce that I added at the top:

And here's my third image of the actual painted area of the pants. This time I stuck them in the scanner; my digital camera sucks:

(Alas even my scanner can't seem to pick it up perfectly. There's a giant crease down the middle. xD)
