Monthly Art Contests!

I just.. kinda got sad at how only two people got involved in the last one (one being myself) and how no one even really voted, resulting in a tie (when i get around to posting it in the winner's circle).

That coupled with uni assignments and lack of internet time has kind of interfered with my posting a new theme - or even trying to come up with one.

If anyone has ideas for a theme, do post them here. I don't want it to be a thing where only I have a say in what happens.

^ I think it's not that bad if we have some small breaks inbetween the contests, every month seems to be to frequent.
And I feel kinda bad for not voting...I totally forgot because I had so much to do. Sorry!

I think the reason people don't vote is because it takes effort. Like, you have to post "why" and explain in "details" why you like it. People here on ZU are lazy. I hate to suggest that we make the voting simple click selects.... but in order to get lazy people involved, that might be the only way.

Hmm the reason I wanted people to explain why is because i detest it when someone tells a hoarde of their friends,

"Dude, I like so entered this competition! Help me win and spam vote!"

I'm not saying people on ZU do it but hey, I'm kinda... cynical when it comes to that sort of stuff. Plus, when you're the artist and you see the comments people made about why they like your work, it makes you feel good about the effort you put in.

Its true. Plus, I love criticism here in the art stuff. Sig crit stinks. It's not as helpful.

I thought of a good theme, not sure if its been suggested/done yet, but: Pain. That would be interesting.

Yikes, I don't want these to die out either. I might actually now have enough free time to participate (or so I hope). Methinks these contests need to be advertised even more, huh? I'm sure it'd help if it was in people's sigs, but what about the main page, too (or is that too much)?

Also, to help a bit, a suggested theme would be "Teamwork". There's something applicable to many Zelda stories.

I don't think it's a good idea to knock of the "explanation" requirement to voting, though. That's necessary, and people need to stop being so lazy.

I know I have much more time to contribute. And I love the teamwork suggestion.

There isn't a contest going on, so far ideas have been thrown out. I'm sure soon we'll get another going.

Maybe if their was a prize more people would take part.
It doesn't have to be something flashy, maybe the price could be that the winner from last time draws you a picture. That way it would be a kind of give and take thing.

Yeah a prize would help get people in here. Or a simple banner saying you won in the contests. REALLY small of course, nothing flashy of course.

Yah, a monthly contest is a good idea. Hm, a prize? Mod for a day. No. Nevermind. Think of the chaos if the power went to their head. Dear lord.

Oh, where the banners for the clans and stuff are, give them a banner that says Art contest winner or something of the sorts.
