Iroas has a new Sketchbook!

Yup, after at least half a year (if not more) of not having drawn anything serious , I finally had thew time to do some new sketches. All I needed was a new sketchbook to do them in, so I bought one

Instead of making a thread with a certain subject, I plan to use this thread for all the sketches I am going to make in my new practically empty sketchbook.


Right now there is just 1 (or maybe 2) finished sketch(es) in there, and 3 (or 2 if I decide the other one is finished ) unfinished sketches. I'll start off with one of the unfinished sketches:


Does anyone remember the assassin sketch I did last year? Well I want to redesign him, or give him an update, whatever. I have not yet decided on his hairstyle (which previously was curly) so right now he's sorta bald xD I think I'll give him curly hair again only a bit longer and wavier (that a word?)
Also, I don't know if any of you here have seen the movie 'Desperado' or 'Once upon a time in Mexico', but I'm basing his new design on the mariachi clothing, and I tried to gave his face that serious Antonio Banderas look haha.

As you see I'm also practising perspective and more exciting angles, which I should do way more often. Drawing a simple handgun is harder than you might think btw. >.>


Yeah Yeah, he has no clothes on, so what? Thats the way I work, I tend to draw the bodies first, then the clothing xD

Hm. I love the foreshortening on the arm. Did you have a reference for the gun? That is amazingly detailed and accurate. Not to distract from the job you did on the person though - he looks really good as well.

Alright, heres the full body...

there are a couple of mistakes in this one, the pose doesn't feel right to me, also the propotions are off (head is slightly too big for example.)But whatever, I think I might do some sort of scorpion design or some sort of snake design on the back of his jacket.

I just checked out your devianart page, I love it all. This Assassin character is quite impressive because it's your own creation. Can't wait to see more. Oh yeah, and that Spider Man sketch is awesome! I wish I had a scanner to show you all my stuff. >_>

Back with a small update... Kinda let this thread die didn't I?


I gave the assassin hair and... a sigaret? ...Well I though it would add to his character.
Anyway, I sorta messed the face up with adding shadows (which is very rarte for me to do) but at the same time I still like it. You wouldn't believe all the smudging that was going on.. I had to cover it up by shading the background too D:

Now that I look at it I see I missed doing some shadows. Damn.

I love the detail of the gun in the first picture, and the foreshortening. In the second picture, you did mention some proportional errors? It kinda looks like he's falling asleep, too. But the details on the pants and chains is nice. I also like the shading on that last one, especially the eyes. They have a nice shine. =)
