The Good, Bad, and Hideous

Hello, my name is Quark, and you're about to see some of my artwork I almost never show anyone else, save for rare occasions. I'm going to show you every single page of my sketchbooks as I draw them. Some of the images may shock you, others may disgust you, and there may be a select few... you actually enjoy.

Now please! Don't be afraid to criticize me! I won't hate you for it, be as harsh as you want (while remaining constructive and kind 8P). I take criticism well and I will do well to improve by what you say. Seeing how you're seeing EVERY page of my sketchbooks, not all of them are masterpieces so I probably know a good deal of what's wrong with them already. Still, hearing criticism helps me get better.

The first sketchbook I'll be showcasing was one I received last Christmas. However, this sketchbook is awful! It has light weight paper so when I erase... the eraser tears right through the page and smears junk everywhere. >.< Oh well, it's just one book, it'll at least give me skill in the not-erasing area. So... starting with this first page, you will see how bad I was during this last Christmas, but as my drawings continue you will see my improvement over time. Just because these are relatively old drawings doesn't mean you can't criticize them. By all means, tear them to shreds so I'll know how to gain some skills.

Here are my first ten pages.

Right here I was merely doodling to test out my new sketchbook. I hated the fact the erasing sucked on it, so you can see a lot of smudges and annoyance put into this page. Notice the man with the grimace and the sad elf in the corner.


This is a picture of a sinister looking man, two daggers (which are horrible looking) in his hands, ready to slice and dice the previous page. Muahahaaa.


Ugh, I don’t like this page much. xD Mainly the center guy… his face looks so weird, and it’s all gross and smudgy. Yucky yucky. *crowd gasps and gags in reaction to seeing the page*


Now on this one I copied a pose from a book. Now… I don’t know why I copied this particular pose because… well frankly I don’t like the pose, but oh well… that’s all in the past now. I obviously messed up in the area of his left hand, as well as various other parts, but there are a select few things I like about it… I think.


Now this picture is awesome compared to the previous four. His entire body’s covered with a shroud of some sort so I didn’t have to worry about proportions too much, yay!


This picture’s okay I guess…. I think I made the guy’s head a little too big, but still I was trying to go for a sense of depth here, but still I think I made the head a little too big.


BLAH! I hate this man! Turn the page NOW! >.<


Nyah. This one isn’t my favorite page either. It’s not horrible… but it’s not really good. I cut off half the page because it was merely scribbles where I totally messed up on the lower half of the man with the club/baseball bat.


Hm… this guy’s too happy… I don’t like it. Something’s fishy going on with this man, I can smell it. He’s plotting something; we better keep an eye on this one. *suspicious look*


Now this one… again I don’t find much special about it. Just some floating heads… wait… that just gave me an idea for a good drawing! Hehehe >:}

There. Those are the first ten pages of the sketchbook I’m currently using. I’ll post the next ten after I receive a few comments. I hope you like this idea, because I sorta do. I’m hoping it’ll help in convincing me to draw more.

If you have any suggestions on my layout or anything, please let me know. Are the image file sizes too large? I will sacrifice quality for faster loading times if that's what you wish.
