RL's Photography

Taking pictures has been a hobby of mine for the past year or so. So, finally, I've decided to post them here. I realize that these aren't great pictures - far from it - but they can't be all that bad. Right?

It's not all that great a picture...but the sunset is so pretty!

Another picture of my cat.

Please, if you have any constructive criticism, let me know! I want to get better. More pictures shall come soon.

Re: RL's Photography

I'm sorry to say that I have no real knowledge of Photography but I do have some randomish comments to make ^_^;

Woah, a deer in your back yard? Crazy O.o then again there are no deer in Australia that I know of... >_>

*pounces on your cat* I love kitties, specially mine ^^ His name is Oreo X3

The black and white would make a lovely picture to frame I think, the composition of the image is very nice - kind of like how they make cards these days with photos on the front and a message inside.

The butterfly is also really nice

Oh and for the final cat pic - i have many of those with my cat and my sister went over them with captions of "camoflage cat" X3 Nice memories that conjured up.

Re: RL's Photography

Ohh, you're pretty good, RL. Some are better than others, though.

Indeed, it is pretty. However, the skyline looks a tad crooked. Can you see it? Also, it is a little unfocused. That is a really good subject to photograph, though. *nod*

Aw, so very cute~! Good work on this one. Again, work on focus, and you've got it. Even though the background is grass, it works with what you were photographing.

This one is simply brilliant. Good lighting, focus, and setting. Kudos! :]

A butterfly! ^_^
Now, this is def. my favorite out of all of these. Do you know why? It's the amazing focus you achieved in this picture. It makes you look really professional if you can focus on just the subject you are photographing and make everything in the background a tad blurred. This is a very good thing to practice! So... practice this technique. :]]]

Again, a very well taken shot. However, if possible, maybe photoshop the print a little to cover up unwanted things in the picture that take the eye away from what you want it to focus on. For example, cover the numbers on the plastic covering of the pond in the right hand corner. Other than that, great picture. Very cute, too!

Quote:

Aww~ I like your kitty. :3 Anyway, yes, as I've said before, watch the focus when you catch pictures. It is also good to make sure you're hands aren't shaking or anything. Also, when outdoors, turn your flash off! If you are using a digital camera, just turn that flash off when outdoors. When you have the flash on, the camera seems to want to get everything in focus instead of just what you want to eye to see. Try it out. And, if you've already figured that out, well, awesome! You've got it.

You're pretty good, and I'd be interested to see more!

No deer in Australia? Jeeze...well, where I live, there's too many of them (they always eat my flowers!), so I'll ship them off to you.

Yeah, I see what you mean. This is one of my earlier pictures, when I was still getting used to my camera.

Focus. Got it. *makes a mental note*

Thanks. I think the reason this turned out the best was because I was taking it as a picture to give to my mom for Mother's Day. I'll try to remember to take all of my pictures like that one. *makes another mental note*

*sees what you're talking about* Ah. Those. I'll be sure to edit that picture. Thanks for telling me!

Yeah. I've got really shaky hands, so it makes taking good pictures difficult. But I've been trying to get my hands to shake less - at least when I'm taking pictures.

And for the flash...yeah, I tend to use it outside. ^_^;; Once again, I'll be sure to not use it for outdoor pictures.

Re: RL's Photography

Some nice stuff, how many mega pixels does your camera have?

It looks pretty good, on some of them the angles look a little weird, but other than that its pretty good!

Thanks! My camera has 7.2 mega pixels, which isn't too bad for just taking pictures as a hobby.

Which pictures are you referring to about your second comment? I think I have a pretty good idea as to which ones you're talking about, but I just want to make sure.

I'm wayy too lazy to look through this thread, but what kind of camera are you using? And what modes are you using to take these? Because... I'm curious as to how you got them to be so wonderful and sharp!

First off, thank you for the compliment!

My camera is a Casio Exilim, and it has 7.2 mega pixels (as mentioned previously in this thread). Here's a picture of it (and here is some more information about the camera).

As for the modes I use, it comes with a bajillion different ones - there's one for flowers, landscapes, snow, etc. Occasionally, I'll use the one intended for flowers, but for the most part I use the anti-shake mode (unfourtunately, I have really shaky hands, and as a result tons my pictures turn out blurry. Like, 2/3 of them. >_>).

So yeah, that's basically it.
