Aiko's Scrabbles (56kers beware!)

...I hope I didn't make anyone think this was somehow related to the game "Scrabble" with that title of mine. ^^;; *just realized it could be interpreted that way*

Anyhow, with some support from a couple of BAers, I decided to make a wee little thread here to post my sketches and maybe take a few requests. I have some examples of relatively recent stuff here (newest to oldest)...

http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/4...sketch5ry0.jpg

http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/6...ch1copypw6.jpg

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/6...sketch7zt4.jpg

http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/8...nsteddyss2.jpg
(This is only a chibi-fied teddy bear version of Jhans, mind you...)

http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/8198/hunterm4ae7.jpg

http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/9509/ancia4iq2.jpg

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/7...enzapicqd2.png
(This is a bit older than the rest, but it serves as an example of my Photoshop coloring skills.)

(Pssst--all of these are BA characters, if you were wondering.)

Ah, if you want to request something, I think I'll only take up to three requests total at a time, so be patient if there isn't a spot open on my list (I imagine that won't be a problem, but it pays to be safe.) Also, be sure to include a good description of your character's appearance, and any pose or other details you want in your sketch. Oh, and...*meep* I do, in fact, color--just not very often. I haven't really shaded most of these drawings because I plan to color them sometime in the future...

Ah...your colouring is really nice, these are some really interesting character designs. Faces seem to be your strong point. I can see that you've definitely improved when it comes to drawing bodies from what you've shown. That puppy creature looks good; his paws are a little strange. If you don't mind me asking, is he...some sort of stuffed toy, er...some sort of new creature? Sorry for not knowing much about it.

Re: Aiko's Scrabbles (56kers beware!)

Finally! an Altamira art thread. First of all, you're getting a fine for being so late- that's 5 cookies by lunchtime tomorrow. Delivered to me in england- tiny caravan by a garden. Good, now..

I can't believe you don't do MORe colouring! I love your colouring.
Looking at all the images above, you have a very clear strength - and that is in drawing extremely expressive faces and expressions. A lot of work and "3dness" needs to be inserted into your figures on the other hand =)

And hey! draw more in the style you used for your and Awkin's avatars! Seriously, I mean it. As artists, we often have 2 routes- to emulate and try to attain the same level as other artists in some "genres" (i.e manga) or we can add our own quirks and come up with our own personal spinoffs that act as our unique "styles". I prefer the latter because it doesn't put you in competition with a 100000 or so others most of whom are probably miles ahead =)

And with that style, there was something extra.. something AIKO in there that makes it a lot more appealing that the generic manga. Pursue it then feed me the arts xD

*subscribes* I laughed so hard at the picture of Jhans. He looked like a teddy bear xD

Anyways...Kellson? Please? ^^ You know what he looks like and all...only, if you do draw him, could you do it without his wings?

Re: Aiko's Scrabbles (56kers beware!)

Your art is amazing. I like how you seem to capture the character's personalities in their faces. I also really like how you drew Ancia's hair. It's all flowy and pretty.

I was wondering if you could do a request for me. Could you possibly draw my character Lyra? There's a link in my signature (obviously). For a pose, could you have her leaning on her sword and looking cocky? If you need any more information, I'd be more than happy to give it to you.

Re: Aiko's Scrabbles (56kers beware!)

*Chews on the corner of your art thread* Its about time you got this up! I loves it! I love your style, if you didn’t put a limit on the requests, you’d probably have way to many by now X3

Seriously, your strength in drawing faces is going to pull a lot of people to request from you.

Your body’s still need a little work though. Most of the necks are too long (not all of them) and Ancia’s hands look really good but the others are a little bulky. And the collarbone on the last picture is low and separated, but it’s an old one so it’s ok. But that’s your only major flaws, which isn’t very many. Keep up the good work!

YAI~! ^___^

Sensei has made an art thread~! =3

Yush, expressions are your fort I thinks, I really like the non-coloured Cadenza's face, she looks pensive and serious in it and her coloured versions outfit it just lovely ^^

Not sure if its your style but the hair seems to be a tad to big for their head...

Oh and Hunter's face really suits him ^-^

Haha, don't worry about it. That "puppy creature" is Awkin's BA character, Jhans, a member of a polar bear-like race that have hands like humans. The paws then, as you can probably see, were drawn like that on purpose.

And to answer the mention of him looking like a "stuffed toy"...

...I drew him in chibi-fied teddy bear form, because I didn't think I could do a more serious portrayal of Jhans justice.

I think it's just a quirk of mine--I can't help it. XD *must like drawing big dramatic hair or something*

Yes, I very much recognize that I need work with anatomy, as you and others have said. Mostly, I think I need more practice in that area to familiarize myself better with how to go about drawing parts of the human body. *makes note to do some anatomy studies*

I also realize I need a great deal of work in developing a more distinct style. I've resigned myself to a manga-like style now because I wanted to focus on expression and that style made it easy to communicate expression and not have to worry overmuch about mimicking real life to the littlest detail (hence why my faces are strongest--I focused on them most, then just sort of filled in the bodies to use up the space leftover.) With the chibis I drew for Awky and myself, everything was completely simplified and the only focus was capturing some expression. If I can find a way to translate that into something a bit more substantial than just chibis, you can be sure I'll post the results here.

Phew...*blows out an exhausted breath*...so, ah, thank you everyone for commenting and giving me some great constructive criticism and advice. I really appreciate it all.

And...

I'm already about halfway through with yours. ;P I'll try to have it posted here later today or tomorrow, depending on when my brother lets me use his scanner.

That drawing of Jhans is really quite awesome ^^. The pieces of art I hadn't seen beofre looking at this are, as ever, wonderful.

I'd request, but I'm trying to motivate myself to draw! Anyway, I wish you and this thread the very best of luck.

So...drawing Kellson was hard. It wasn't that his design was overly complicated or anything--it's just that I'm so familiar with his character, and I've had to picture him in my mind so many times while writing in a thread that involved him, that it was difficult to get a result that actually suited how I imagined him. I think I'm pretty happy with this, but you're the final judge...

*winces as she awaits a reaction* ^^;;

(I will try to color this eventually, as I will for the other sketches I've done...)

Yay! *'splodes from the awesomeness*

My only complaint is that I can't tell if he has legs or not xD But other than that, it's great. Definitely the most detailed picture of him I've yet seen.

Heheh, yeah, I think maybe the trenchcoat covers part of the legs, and then perhaps the lines for them weren't that well-defined to begin with. Erm...would you like me to try and fix that? ^^;;

Re: Aiko's Scrabbles (56kers beware!)

Wow. You are a very good artist, Altamira. That is why I would feel honoured if you were to draw either Arin or Vaskalen. Of course, if you are too busy, you don't have to.

Special Notes: If you do decide to do either of them, I would like you to know the following extr info not given in theri appearance.

Arin: -As long as it looks elegant (and crystal), I don't are how the Crystal Staff of Llyeta looks.
-As long as the robes follow the colour pattern desrcibed, they can look like whatever you want.

Vaskalen: -No Extra notes. (I drew it, but I could not load it becasue we don't have a working scanner V_V)

Anyway, if you do accept, then you have my thanks already, if not, I understand.
