~The Legendary Zelda Grand Medley~

Hey everyone!

This is my first post on the site, and I thought that I'd introduce myself with what I do best; music.

Now, as a seasoned Zelda fan myself, I can understand that sometimes people are extremely touchy about having Koji Kondo's wonderful themes changed in any way. Having said that, I am still going to give it a shot because I see no better way to pay tribute to the spectacular tunes of the game than by making my own arrangement.

And that's exactly what I've done; I've written a "Grand Medley" of Zelda music that spans just about the whole series; from the original all the way to content from the Twilight Princess trailer music. It's not quite finished yet because there are still many memorable themes that I need to add in, but I feel that at this point, it's large enough to merit revelation to this wonderful community. After all, the opinion of other fans is what will dictate whether or not it's a good work.

It's arranged for a full orchestra and is currently just shy of ten minutes in length; so a significant tribute. I would love it if you would take the time to listen to the piece so far and leave me your thoughts on it. I hope that you will enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoy writing it and that you will post your comments.

Bump? Surely someone has something to say...I worked hard on this, I want the opinions of the Zelda community here! I'd love some comments - it may even help me refine a new piece I'm working one which is a medley of themes just from Twilight Princess!

Thanks, Link! I used a piece of notation software called Finale to do that...I usually render things using some orchestral sound libraries to get them to sound more realistic, but because I started this a little while ago, I never did that with this piece so it doesn't sound as realistic as I could potentially get it to.

it actually sounds to me like you are toning out the real tune and letting the background melody overrun the tune

but other than that i really loved it

Interesting point - I think that might just be a perception thing since I orchestrated everything so much more thickly than the originals and I overlapped a bunch of seperate themes so there usually isn't a dominant melody as such.

Also, I'd check your EQ settings just to make sure they're not off; it plays quite clearly for me, just a thought.

Hello everyone!

I really appreciated your nice responses, so I've decided to show some progress that I've made with the piece. It's still not finished, and I haven't had much time to work on it so there's still a lot left to add in, but I figure it never hurts to have some nice Zelda music on hand, eh?

The piece is now more than 11 minutes of lush, orchestral Zelda music, so hopefully there's enough for everyone!

Hmm, your most recent one that you've linked is very good so far! I like it when people actually take time to do remixes and things; however, most remixes I listen to aren't that good, and I'm really not a huge fan of the zelda ones because of that. Yours is very nicely done though. :] Pretty slow in the begining for my tastes, but nice.

Amazing. =] There were a lot of songs that I liked as much as, or more than, the original. The only "fault", is that most of them sounded a lot less Zelda-y. But it doesn't matter, its so good, it makes up for it. Great job! I hope to hear more from you. =)

Wow, man... I just checked out that and some of your other stuff, and... wow. Absolutely amazing. I just had to pop in and compliment you. Great job on whatever I listened to (which was only parts of differnet songs). There's... really nothing else to say except "wow".
