(dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Well, I decided it was time to get my act together and make a proper dump thread so I can keep my stuff in one place. Here is my most recent picture, which took around 1 and a half to 2 hours. I think I stuffed up the eyebrows/nose a little bit, but it's the first non-zelda-related thing I've drawn for ages, so I was pretty happy with it.

All comments and constructive criticisms are always loved.

I never like the seethrough hair part in pictures, but that is great where did you learn to draw that good, or did you just teach yourself?

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Thanks! Yeah, I've been teaching myself. Manga style for five years, drawing for as long as I can remember - it's pretty much just observation.

I'm not too sure I like see through hair either, but the hair goes where it goes, and I usually don't want to leave the details from underneith out, so...see through it is.

Hey, the folds in the clothes are getting better, you've progressed a bit! That's right, I've been keeping a little eye on you

Though, this drawing confuses me a little.. Is it supposed to be a man or woman? the face says man, but the lower body says woman, especially the hip sticking out seems feminine.

I guess a man, I like the expression on his face. Good job!

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Well, definitely some of the best work I've seen on these forums, but I have one suggestion. Her chest piece and belt seem like they're made out of paper because there is no thickness to them. You did good on the cuffs to show the the cloth is thicker because it's folded. Other than that and what Iroas? said, looks great!

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Thanks for the comments! Iroas - I tried to make the folds smoother and thinner, keeping in mind what people said about the sheikah picture's boots. I'm glad you think they've improved. It was supposed to be a man, but (yet again) I've managed to confuse that - I agree, that hip is so feminine.

Layke - Ah, thanks for pointing that out! I can definitely see what you're saying, and I'll pay more attention to that in future. unfortunately, I think it's a habbit of mine to give thickness to sleeve cuffs, so I don't think about it anymore, and because of that, when I'm drawing other clothing items, it gets forgotten.

Thanks again for the comments!

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Besides the belt thing, only one other problem, if that's a guy which I have a feeling it may not be, the pant cuffs on the bottom seem kind of short from the placement on the body. I like it.

It is meant to be a guy...but I don't get what you're saying. Pant cuffs? You can't see his pants. Could you please explain again? (sorry...)

He's saying that the pants are way too short for any guy who respects his masculinity. I agree with him. About 3/4's of the thigh would be shown to any person walking around...

But...you can't see his pants. He's wearing a shirt which comes down to the bottom of the page - there would be pants under that which I imagine would fall roughly to his shoes. There wasn't any room on the page to draw that, though, because the shirt went the whole way down.

Yeah, the way the bottom of the shirt was drawn, along with the...uh...part that gets buttoned....it looks sorta like it's just a one piece outfit...and a short one at that.

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Here are a couple of older pictures (older as in drawn within the last year or so).

Hopefully I'll be able to get something new up soon - There's one I've drawn and inked which only needs colouring, but I don't know when I'll be able to finish it. Once again, crits and comments are loved.

Woah ..

*sits and stares unblinkingly*
Mikshe, you rule hun. Totally and absolutely.

I looked again and again but am left speechless at your grasp of the anatomy. Each image holds together naturally. Beautiful designs and an enviable mastering of hands. *squeals like a kid*

Mikshe I have a wee request. Am not sure if you'll oblige me or not though. Can you give me a copy of an inked image so I could try toning it digitally? Of course I'll give give you a copy of the outcome =)

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Well, I can definantly see loads of improvment within your work from the last year up until now, major kudos for growing, you line work has improved tenfold, great job, my only concern is the use of coloured pencil, seeing all the white area's shine through really really detracts from your work, which is really based on the line itself, not on the colour.

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Wow, you keep on improving! I can see that you are definetly more patient with your art than I am, and that is something for me to be jealous about. And your line art definetly rules over mine, even though I am more of a sketch artist. The only thing you could work on is the anatomy (just a little) and the bone structure of your characters, if you know what I mean.

And I have to disagree with vacumgod about the coloring, I think it's superb

Please keep us happy and post more art!

Re: (dump) Mikshe's Pictures

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Vacumgod - Part of me does want to stick to traditional media, although I think that's largely an excuse for the fact that I don't have any programs that will allow me to colour the way other artists do (and if I do have one, which I think I might, I certainly don't know how to use it).

Which brings me to you, Anime_queen - Thanks for the compliments! I'll gladly provide an inked uncoloured image for you. I've always wondered how my pictures would look done that way, because it's so hard to make comparisons when the medium is so different. How do you want it? resized so as to fit on a screen, or full sized as it is scanned in?

Iroas - Thankyou! Ive seen your art, and compliments from you mean alot (though I don't necessarily agree with them entirely). Your art always looks so natural, and mine seems very hit-and-miss to me. Your guy-jumping-with-sword is visual and anatomical poetry - I'm so jealous of the hands, angles and arm muscles in that.

Do you have any tips on how I could improve my anatomy? Because, while sometimes I turn out a picture that looks anatomically ok, I'm definitely not confident in that respect, and I know my anatomy is very stylised. But, I'm not going to do the stick figure frame and circle-with-chin stuff, because that's never how I've drawn and I just wouldn't have the patience for it, and I can never get poses right, even when I'm trying it.

Thanks again for the comments, everyone!

Edit: Anime_Queen, I had a look at some of your stuff - it's awesome!!!
