Jason's Art Things

Welcome, one and all! This is my art thread, and music thread, and graphical art thread and whatnot. I got tired of posting in the community thread when it should be in here, so I'll do it here from now on.

For my first trick, I shall create a magical HDRI image in 3dsmax! o-o I made a test image of some HDRI stuff. I was trying to get the environment... while I also learning a bit more about creating shapes in 3ds. So here is a ring-box shape, set on wood in two different HDRI environments:

Rendered with a blue environment with houses in the background. Created a dreary look, but great contrast and works well with the wood.

From a bright yellow image. The image must have been of some kind of temple or something... maybe a church, no clue. But it works its purpose.

Perhaps next time I'll have something better than this. I plan to share my *actual* art here, too, stuff that I do in class and other.

I wouldn't even be able to to make 2-D stuff so it is cool, but if you are planing to nake a carrer out of 3-D-ness, witch would be a great job, lots more practice you will need young person of 3-Dness >_<.

Re: Jason's Art Things

I don't plan to make it my job, just a hobby - but nonetheless, I would like to learn more. The only things rendered in the above two pictures are basic shapes, and I really want to make something... interesting and complicated, when I have the time. And I will, hopefully right now. I found a tutorial for a soda can, lesse if I can make that without screwing up. ^_^

Good job. I don't know a single thing about 3D rendering, but based on the comments you received I am guessing you did a great job. Keep up the good work chum. *types in "3D rendering at google* Oh, so that is what it is.

Keep it fresh

Eh... a random vase. I'd fill it with liquid if I knew how. Maybe some flowers.

Meh, looks more like a misshaped glass to me. I love the reflection coming off the floor, brillant. Does that come built into the software, or whatever, or do you have to do the reflections by yourself?

Everything has to be, in short, done from scratch.

I could go on to say that the reflection is actually the ground I assigned to which I also made out of glass, but I don't think that's necessary.

Originally I had tried to make the ground out of a chrome metal material, but the reflection was far too strong and vivid. So, making the floor out of glass was the best choice.

Re: Jason's Art Things

Haha! And you thought I was done posting... art and stuff. I'm here with an MP3. But not just any MP3 - a synthesized mp3! Yep, Jason has moved beyond MIDI's and into real synthesizing. So you can't get a MIDI file for what I'm about to show you, because it's audio synthesizing alright!

http://www.thejasoneffect.net/music/limelda.mp3

This can be compared to my old MIDI version: http://www.thejasoneffect.net/music/limeldaold.mp3

How it happened? I learned about DXi and VST soft synths. You'll never see another MIDI from me again. And yes, this does mean that the file saving format is no longer .mid, even though I'm technically using a MIDI control panel, but saves directly to MP3 or WAV. The VAT and DXi synths actually tak the MIDI notation and replace the synths from your sound card's MIDI wavetable and put in real samples and synths. This means more control, and better sounds. Unfortunately, it also means it's not a MIDI anymore, and can't be saved as one!

What's really awesome is that I have a ton of synth sets now that I can play around with. So I have a very wide variety (hundreds of thousands) of instruments to choose from. It'll keep me busy for a while. On top of that, these synth racks have their own sets of options and configurations, and you can edit literally any synth to make it whatever you want. So many knobs to twist... I don't think I'll ever get over the options. There's something here to synthesize everything. x_x

Re: Jason's Art Things

Fixed up the MP3 - for some reason the warm pad wasn't showing up, and I figured out the problem, so I fixed it and got it into the MP3.

Re: Jason's Art Things

Very beautiful Jason. My favorite part would be thirty seconds into it when it also completely stops. The rythm is very nice and flows perfectly with the rest of the beats. Great stuff man, keep it up.

EDIT: The song is very relaxing; I have listened to it about ten times now, and can say that I am very calm right now. Oh and does it have a name, or is the name actually etc. I know you love that word.

Very nice, Jason.
I like your song, as commie said, very relaxing.
I just got a nice new elec piano with almost 500 tones, along with some high quality music creationg software, so i'll likely be posting my own stuff soon as well.

Re: Jason's Art Things

Redid the very ending bit... I didn't think the ending fit very well, so I changed it. That's all.

EDIT: Oh... and Comrade, it has no name... etc was the random thing I typed in when I named the file. So, it is that. ^^;;
