WIP (warning: alot of pictures)

Here's a WIP I started while in school. Was just meant to practice my CG'ing since I took like a 2 year layoff from any computer oriented work. It's not bad so far, and I may actually get around to finishing it at some point.

And here's some pics of the progression with some details on each step that I had done for a friend who wants to practice his CG'ing skills also...

Re: WIP (warning: alot of pictures)

Thanks guys. I lost alot of my completed works when my old hard drive failed. That was a sad day That's why I took a 2 year layoff from anything related to CG work. I still worked on Neu Age, but that's it.

Heh, its kinda weird, cuz i do in fact remember seeing this pic AGES ago on the forums somewre...

But really, wow. Very much awsomes. Looks like it took a while. Did you draw it to begin with too-or is it some sort of original work? Forgive me if i sound stupid with such a question, but i dont know AT ALL how CG'ing works. I stick with pencil. lol its easier.

Re: WIP (warning: alot of pictures)

I did post this on here a few months back when I started working on it. This line art isn't mine, it's by Charles Parks. You can google some of his works, great artist. I usually don't do my own line art, I color others for practice, or color stuff for my friends

Re: WIP (warning: alot of pictures)

I used Photoshop 6.0 for this one on a school PC. I mainly use Corel Painter IX for the main CGing and Adobe Photoshop CS2 for minor editing/final tweaks.

Re: WIP (warning: alot of pictures)

Great job on everything, I really think the face was well done. The way you colored it makes it look soft in a way. The armor is great too, that tribal on the arm piece looks very well done.

Keep up the good work.

Re: WIP (warning: alot of pictures)

I agree with everyone else, your artwork is fantastic! I didn't know you were an artist... I'm not good at colouring, I can only draw. I just drew a picture of a Hylian Sheikah, and I only shaded it.

Fanstastico!

Holy crap and serve it on a dish. I'm sure it's been implied well already but that is AWSOME! I wish I could draw like that... stupid people who can draw... *mumbles grumbles* So ya, that's awsome. You should color all of it now. Or make another and show it to us.

Re: WIP (warning: alot of pictures)

I'll probably color it during the school year, I have alot of work to do for the rest of the summer. One of the main reasons I haven't completed this yet is because coloring with a mouse is a pain in the ass and bothers my wrist after a while. I plan on buying a WACOM tablet soon to fix that

Anyways, my suggestion to everyone when it comes to this... PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. All a tutorial will do is show you what tool does what, there's no magical tutorial that will teach you how to pick the perfect color scheme, how to blend the colors properly in each situation, etc. It's all trial and error so that you find what works for you!
