[Discussion] When people ask you to draw them

I have gotten requests to do like
pretty sexual themes
that earned 3 persistant folks a nice warm homemade block, kids.

I wouldn't ask someone to draw me or for me unless they offered or something.

If someone wants to draw me then cool, if not then whatever.

Can't say I've ever had someone ask me to create something for them on the internet, being a talentless loser and all I can't see that happening.

Over at dA, since I've became really active, lots of people have been asking me for requests and once I do them one, they either: don't appreciate it, or ask for another one. I'm like, "what the ♥♥♥♥? You can't appreciate the fact I took time out of my life to give you something that I didn't have to do?"

I don't really ask for requests because then I think to myself, "Damn, now I owe THEM a favour"

The thing to do is to draw them in a compromising sexual position and then repeatedly mail them a copy of the picture every other day. And write the words 'DRAW ME' on their windows in blood. A lesson taught harshly is a lesson taught well.

Well I am an illustrator, so my job IS to draw for people basically. So I hope I like it. I do. I just like it when I am paid. Which is what it should be, professionally.

EDIT: Also my DeviantArt and Tumblr presence is fairly microscopic, so I don't really have to worry about the weirdos requesting me to draw their random things. SCORE.

I apparently draw really good for my age so I have gotten several requests for me to draw them.

I usually don't have much of a problem with it, depending on who asks.

What really gets me frustrated is when I'm drawing (Whether or not it's the request.) People keep staring over my shoulder to the point I'm ready to go off on them and ask 'em if they have something better to do instead of bug me when I'm trying to concentrate!

After I do a request I tell the person not to tell anyone (because I don't want an overload of requests) and then guess what they do like 5 min later?

Person: *walks up to a friend* Hey look what Lee (that's my nickname in most cases) drew me!

Me: *watching them show the drawing* *thinking* What the heck is wrong with them!? I told them not to tell!!!!! Note to self.... never make that person or their friends a request ever since chances are they won't shut up about the fact I made it for them!!!

People usually ask me to draw for them, but not really an illustration of them. I often make posters and such for local groups and associations, so I really have no issue with that. It's not like they pay me in money, but I do get to go to free roller derby games and get a lot of free beers. So, I'm totally okay with anyone asking me as long as there is free booze involved.

I haven't seriously asked anyone to draw me, I don't think. I've half-heartedly made gestures at it, like OMG DRAW ME DOING SOMETHING SO COOL LOL but I usually forget about it several minutes after I make the request. It's not like I'm sitting around tapping my fingers waiting impatiently!

Although Liah drew me a super cool sketch on a letter she wrote to me once and I will keep it forever. Jehanne has also drawn me once, and I think The Joker did, and maybe someone else but I forget and I'm sorry but I love all the people who have even attempted to illustrate me and if I could I would give you all free beer yes

I think it's really important that you guys make this thread. I *love* looking through all you artists' artwork and marvel at your ability. Then I feel really bad for some of you guys who are just *overloaded* with requests, and it makes me all sad.

Personally, I never have much issue with this because my artistic skills are preeeeeetty minimal. In my personal life.. I once had a friend ask me to write a letter excusing her from an assignment. Basically, it solidified my role as this person's parent- we already give her rides every week, so might as well start writing parental letters. =/ I get this kinda stuff all the time. =(

@ Breeze (I think I suck but apparently no one at school thinks so ..... and I don't like using the fact I'm 12 as an excuse for my suckishness.............)

and yet I end up stressing over requests people asked me to do, with the exception of when I ask if someone wants me to draw them something for their b-day.

(When it's for a birthday, I guess I don't mind having people showing the drawing to their friend, but on a regular basis when someone asks me and it's a normal day. That's when I consider the highest possibility for things to go out of hand on the amount of requests............)
