Welcome ladies and gentlemen. We're here to introduce you to a thread of culture, intrigue, and astonishment. Welcome to our gallery! Here shall be displayed the works of our finest artists.

Except here at Zelda Universe, we're better than any old gallery. Instead of some stuffy old lady picking the art: YOU DO!

That's right, all you have to do is send a PM to yours truly containing the name of the individual you think deserves such recognition. If you're really emphatic about a particular piece or pieces they have created, send those along too!

I'll be posting images from the highlighted artists in here as well as a link to their art thread so you can find more of their gems for yourself. A new artist or piece will be highlighted every two weeks and I'll be keeping a running list of highlight artists in this post in case you want to reflect on past artist's works. Artists chosen for this feature will also receive a lovely banner courtesy of The White Maiden.

Feel free to post suggestions for the process as well as congratulations when artists are chosen in here. Most of all be sure to ~have fun~.

This sounds really cool, but how long will an artist be recongised and how does nominations/determinations work? You guys choose between pieces that were nominated or do we?

^The OP says nominations run until Friday and an artist will be recognized for two weeks.

I already sent in a nomination myself btw.

Lemme clarify: I'm going to be selecting an artist from nominations provided. I'm going to be hanging on to all nominations throughout the process, so if one person keeps getting brought up that hasn't been featured, I'll know to give them the recognition they deserve.

Only doing it this way to simplify the process and allow everyone a chance. I want this to be something the community is involved in, but I don't want it to become a popularity contest either or stall out with no one voting. :C

I hope this goes well, because it is really good idea.

Can I just ask - do we have the right to say no if we are to be the next featured artist?

Eh, well I wasn't planning on asking the person themselves prior to announcement and inclusion in the thread, but what would be the reasoning behind requests to be excluded from the process?

Obviously it's your work and I can't just DO WHAT I WANT, but I am curious.

If you'd like to be excluded from consideration shoot me a PM explaining why or feel free to post here if you're comfortable doing so.

I don't necessarily think anyone would nominate me, but just in case I want to address it.
I'm just simply not comfortable being put on any kind of pedestal for any reason.

Some people might know that I went out of my way to get rid of my nominations in the forum awards that happen every now and then (whether it was art-related or not). I don't do it to be a jerk, and I appreciate people's kindness, but I'm just not comfortable with that kind of thing. A nice comment in my thread is one thing (and even that's hard for me to accept without downplaying it), but being put in a thread or being given an "award" because "LOOK HOW GOOD THIS PERSON IS AT THIS".... I don't want it to happen.

Again, I don't think I'm good enough for that anyway, but people have nominated me for stuff in the past and even though I really appreciate it, I want to pass. So just hypothetically, I'd like to kindly sit it out. There are many, far better people that could be highlighted instead anyway.

Hmmm, well I guess for me, I don't necessarily see this as a "Best of" thread or a pedestal per say, more of another way for members to get exposure.

Sometimes it'll draw attention to artists that might not be getting the recognition/exposure they deserve, sometimes showing off an outstanding work of art by someone, it really depends I suppose on who is being submitted as nominations and how everyone else views it, but I don't think it's necessarily similar to an award or some such thing. I like to think that eventually this thread will be a nice sampling of what goes on here in the art section for those who infrequently visit. Not necessarily a place where only the most elite of artists gets to show off or something, but what the members of this forum want to represent this little community here.

This is meant to be something for fun, nothing super serious.

But that's me! Thoughts?

Well, this is just me, but I never like the idea of being "highlighted" and "nominated" for things. It's still being put on a pedestal because the whole point is to get attention and go "look at this person", which isn't something I like. I know that's counter-intuitive posting online if you don't want anyone to see it, but I just don't like to stand out, I'd rather be low-key.

And I also personally have a problem with praise or compliments (which basically turned into a psychological issue) where I just can't stand the idea of being put on any kind of pedestal or given such attention. Again, I don't mean to sound ungrateful to anyone who's given my nice comments and gestures, but I just have a hard time accepting it because I don't think I deserve such recognition and it makes me very uncomfortable.

In a nutshell that's why I would personally rather stay on the sidelines. I've always been that way.


EDIT: This is just me personally, I'm sure most other people would consider this a fun thing and wouldn't have a problem with being in it. I think it's otherwise a good idea.

This is why I say this is a good idea; to get most artist on ZU to be recognized/ some attention to their work if nobody doesn't really notice them

Personally, everyone knows my style, therefore I would appreciate it not to get nominated for a piece of work I've done because I don't like it, I'd feel like I would be "showing off" or whatever.

This is like giving a user to be recognized at their talents which I like

Phobos-Romulus


Phobos-Romulus has been posting his creations here for little over a year now and has time and time again shown that he can both imagine and create. From his vast array of original characters, to his fun fan art, to his incredible ability to set the mood, Phobos-Romulus has really showcased a variety of talents here.

His art tends to be on the sci-fi side of the spectrum, is always colorful, and possess an extra bit of character to really breathe life into his subjects. He's always posting more, so be sure to stop by!

Kylelink


Kylelink has been active in the section for quite some time and is a frequent entrant in the Art Competitions. He uses a variety of media and has everything from original images, to comics, to fan art. Kylelink is enviably versatile to be sure!

His art is always changing and he's improved tremendously since arriving on the scene. His art is often (as I would describe it) cute, but he knows when to change it up and set a different mood when he wants to. Colorful and lively, you'll be sure to love his work. Be sure to stop by his art thread and check out his numerous other creations!

Congratulations to KyleLink! I've really loved the last few things he's posted in his art thread (especially "What is that smell?"), and it's been awesome to see how his style has developed since he started posting. :>
