KingMudkip's Art Thread

This is my art thread. Got it? Good.

To be honest, I'm not much of an artsy-person. I prefer the art of writing to other arts, but I do have a few things to show here, so here we go!

Papercraft
First up. Charmander in paper.

This pic's been in my personal album for a while, so some of you may have already seen it, but here it is. The whole thing, minus a penny in his tummy for balance, is paper. And you can get the template you build your own here, from those wonderful people at PaperPokes.

Next is MUDKIP!!!!

Same deal as Charmander, except that this little guy didn't need any weight added to keep him standing straight.

More papercrafts coming soon!

Drawn Art
Coming soon...

Re: KingMudkip's Art Thread

Those are cute!
How do you go about planning them?
Or do you just cut and paste as you go?

Re: KingMudkip's Art Thread

I really like Papercraft.
I would be so bad at putting them together.

Can you show us what it looks like when you first print it out?
Like, kind of the progress throughout. I'm really curious about how hard it actually is.

Re: KingMudkip's Art Thread

Jehanne: Hopefully this will answer your question.

Mel: Here's a couple pics for you:

Basically, what you get when you download most papercrafts is a .pdf of the template and also a 3d file called a .pdo. The .pdo can be read by a program called Pepakura, and it provides all the instruction you need to build the model. It'll tell you where each tab goes and where the fold lines are.

Sometimes the designers will also number the pieces or provide build-order tips with the download. If you're interested in trying your hand at one, I'd recommend you start by looking at Papercraft Museum. They've got a great collection of all sorts of things.

NickRad: Thanks!

Re: KingMudkip's Art Thread

Oh, well that's very interesting.

<3

Maybe if you do a lot of them, you can design your own? Probably a lot of work.

Re: KingMudkip's Art Thread

I actually have done one myself--I'll try to upload a picture of that one later today--but yeah, it can be a lot of work. It can take some pretty serious 3d model editing if you're using a model from a video game as your source material.
