Lovely.

Thank you very much Jehanne! <333

Speed painting is digital painting, but done with much less effort and detail. Most planned out concept works (mostly environment/landscape scenes) are speed paint. It's more or less clearly showing what the actual image is about, but ignoring hours of putting in every bit of detail to it.
So like, if this Beast pic was a polished digital piece, I would have drawn in strands of individual hair, thinner hair strands on his mane to make it look more flowy (since it's all just thick random paint strokes going in one direction), more cracks, lines and shine on his horns etc... so that he would look more like a 3D render than a painting.

I hope that made sense...

And I need to add in that the red part is his cloak. xD

More sketches:

Drawn with mechanical pencils + charcoal stick on sketch paper. Colour added in digitally.

I decided to add in psychedelic colours than my usual use of sepia tones, just to spice things up a bit.

These are just experiments and miscellaneous things. Nothing new.

Oh wow! I love these!
I especially love the picture of the girl towards the bottom-left (greenish color), and the one on the bottom-right looks completely unique and unlike anything you've ever done before.
That's real interesting to see!
I like it.
I always love seeing your sketches, no matter how unimportant you think they are. (And no matter how much they don't qualify as sketches sometimes. )

Aw, these are lovely. :] Really. It looks like you enjoined drawing them.

This may sound dumb, but I truly like the top left picture of the bird the most for some reason. Only because it's just really quaint and ... fun. I like thumbnailish things. haha.

Wonderful job. I like the usage of more colors too!

Thanks Tonch!

I like to try out new things once in a while. It helps to broaden my imagination.

Psh, they are sketches! >:3

Thanks DQ!

I love the birdie as well. I have such a soft spot for birds. <3 I'm glad you like it! <3

And thanks! I worry if I went over the top with the colours.

More stuff:

City Pigeon

Done with mechanical pencils on A4 sketch paper. Colours + texture added in digitally.

Just a doodle, and expressing my love for city pigeons. The dude is some guy who's finished work in the big city and awaits his bus, when a little friend flies on his shoulder.

And... I can't think of a better title for this.

Sorry if my stuff has been "meh" lately. I want to do more Zelda stuff soon, but I'm just uninspired to do anything Zelda-ish at this point. I had a lot of ideas, but they all left my mind at one point, because it just became too much, like an ongoing, exhausting obsession. Need... ideas.
Maybe listening to some of this music might help me (zreo Zelda music)... Dunno.

I have it on my ipod and I listen to it consantly while I'm doing a majority of my work - I perfer non vocal work when I do art stuff. I've been addicted to Z.R.E.O for quite some time... my favorite is the Majora's Mask remixes.

Yay for pidgeons! They certainly are characters of the city life... this is a neat theme. Keep playing around with it, and don't worry about what you're producing, more so if you're enjoying the process of drawing it. :]

I really like this! I also like the gradient you put over it, it looks nice.
One suggestion I have is that if he's just done work, you could have drawn his tie undone around his neck to show that. Usually it feels good to loosen restrictive and stiff formal clothing like that when you're done with it, so that's what I imagine might happen.

I really like it though. =)

Try looking at what other people do with their fan art too (the unique stuff anyway). Sometimes that inspires me to try something really different.

But no matter what you decide to draw, I'm looking forward to it!

Awesome!

That's the same with me - I also listen to non vocal music while I work on my pieces.
I always need to listen to something, otherwise I get bored when I draw something.
I might need to get some of zreo music on my Ipod quite soon since I have nothing from that site.

Thanks!

And I agree. Pigeons are just <3

I won't be submitting anymore doodles here I think, unless they're related to Zelda from now on or something.

I remember you asking me this on dA. XD I like you suggestion, and I really thought about it, but wouldn't it be weird for a guy to untie his tie while awaiting his bus to get home? I thought it would just be weird to be a little... undressed before he gets home.
Not a good answer from me, but perhaps I'll try that one out when if I ever do get around to drawing, or painting another pigeon piece with a worker in it.

Thanks for the suggestion though! I appreciate it!

After seeing that epic 25th anniversary piece of that Zelda artwork, it has kicked me so hard that it has inspired my world to draw Zelda again. So uh... horray? xD

I'm now working on something Zelda-ish. <3

More spammage:

A preview wip of my Rapunzel piece from Tangled (Done on Gimp 2.6.8 + tablet).

I don't know... do you guys want to see wips of my works? Or just the finished product? I thought it would be interesting seeing wips of my stuff from time to time.
I need to fix her up a lot more, and her eyes burn my eyes. Need to uh... fix that too.

Anyway, this should be finished in a day or two from now, in the pace that I'm working in. You can also find this piece in my Tumblr Blog account (in my signature) since I will be posting all my wips there, and other arty miscellaneous things.

Also, this is the last Tangled piece I will submit on ZU. If you want to see more, you can find them in either my Tumblr account or deviantArt account (both also found in my signature).
I don't want to annoy you guys with more Tangled stuff.

After this, it's more Zelda. <3

Nah, I've seen people with their ties around their necks. It's not exactly "undressing" either.
Just getting rid of an annoying neck constrictor. Ah well, it makes sense to me.

Either way is fine. I guess i spent too much time in a certain city to enjoy the presence of pigeons.

That Rapunzel is nice. I like the firey look in her eye. "Im gonna do something awesome. Watch it!"

Im always interested in seeing your art regardless of subject. Its like Tonch said, they are always a joy to see.

It does make sense actually.
I'll remember that from now on. And it does add that extra atmosphere towards it of "chilling out after a hard day's work."

I can't really do much but repeat my last comment-- it's beautiful, and the coloring gives it such life.

I'm happy to teach you about colouring one day. Speaking of which, I'm planning to record myself painting my pictures just to give others a better idea of how I work through my pieces if they're interested.

I just need to feel more confident first.

Awww thanks! It's just a lot of practice.

School has started for me again so my activity with drawing will cease a bit, but I will be completing stuff in my spare time.

But here is a sneak preview for now. It is the same image that I showed a few pages back, but now with a lot more too it:

Ganondorf (work in progress)

Done on Gimp 2.6.8 + tablet. (original image size 2480x3508 pixels.

I almost completely forgot about this piece. I only just discovered it recently when I was cleaning my computer out. I was going to delete it and to start all over, but I already did too much work to it that it would have been a pity to discard it.
This piece will be slow to complete since my technique towards digital art has changed when I first start this one up. My newer technique now is a lot faster compared to my older technique, but I have to take a step back to finish this one so it's going to take me some time to finish.

Obviously everything is still a mess, but I'm working through it slowly. A lot of custom brushes were used instead of the default ones since I want to achieve a "traditional painting" feeling with this piece in particular.

This is only a quarter of the whole image, but I don't want to spoil everything so early. Also, this is the last time you'll see this as a wip since I will submit the complete image when it's done. I'm going to give it a week or two until it's finished, depending on my speed or how busy I'll be with school.

I really need to draw more Zelda villains.

Anywhoo, thanks for looking. <3

Great that you're salvaging an older piece Reuse and recycle!

The level of refinement on Ganondorf's face is very striking, as is the characteristic flat going from his brow to the tip of his nose. Something is nagging me though, that do you really need the lighting from inside his armour too? Would it look stronger if his head were sorta circled in the black shadow of his collar?

Haha, I know what you mean. Since it's still early in the works, I tend to have a bad habit of throwing all kinds of lighting everywhere, mainly just for tests to see how certain areas work with one another.
I'll assure you that the lighting will be removed once it's done. Thanks for pointing that out!

Now to something special:

A digital painting I did following the art direction of Skyward Sword. This is "Debbie", the new and mysterious character that has appeared in the latest Skyward Sword trailer. I've heard of other weird nicknames of him such as Jack, Max, Zimbarco, Renda etc... But Debbie seems to stick to me for now.

I might have got some things wrong such as his design, but all I had was the clip of him, which was tiny, so I did my absolute best.

I drew the "blue streaks" coming out of his hand like how it comes out of Link's sword. Now I'm no great Zelda theorist, but by the looks of it, he may be a blade too, and plus it adds a touch to his character.

...He reminds me of the Twili people + Vaati's race.

I dedicate this picture to our fabulous SuperDecimal. <3

The only thing that annoys me about it is the quality of the image after posting it. Yuck.

Also, I'd like to add that the original file size was around 3000 x 2000 pixels big just in case anyone was interested.
