New Game:

You are a poorly-drawn man dressed in a plastic raincoat and rubber boots. It is not, to the best of your knowledge, raining; at least not in here. You are standing on a linoleum floor inside a shoddily-sketched room made of drab gray concrete. The room is dimly lit and somewhat chilly, but you are used to it. Hanging to your right left is a ladder. There is nothing else of interest nearby.

What will you do next?

You are pretty sure you don't know how to do that. Also, you are pretty sure that has already been done before.

You reach your hands into your coat pockets to see what you can find.

You pull out a shiny new nickel, a crumpled gum wrapper, a red rubber band, an ivory die, and a pencil that has been sharpened down to a stub. Nothing useful, of course.

Shout up the ladder and see if anyone's above me.

(This is a freakin' cool idea, by the way. I don't care if it's original or not, it's just cool xD)

That's pretty much my suggestion.

You shout as loud as you can up the ladder to see if anyone is up there. You know there shouldn't be, of course, but it's always safe to check.

No one answered your shouts, so you decide to launch the nickel up there and see if you can hit anyone who might be hiding.

The nickel just hits the trapdoor and bounces off. Of course, you already knew the trapdoor was there, so why you even bothered to fire the nickel is beyond you.

Instead, you try to shoot the pencil stub at the ceiling to see if you can get it to stick. Of course, the ceiling is made from solid concrete, so the results are expected.

You pick up the objects you dropped and place them back in your pocket. You broke the tip of the pencil, which means now you'll have to sharpen it before you can use it. It just keeps getting shorter...

Open the trapdoor and crawl up to the next floor. If it's locked, attempt to pick the lock with the pencil stub.

You use all the strength your cheaply-outlined arms can muster to push on the trapdoor, but it won't budge with that large and obvious padlock holding it shut.

It is a heavy duty steel padlock. It has been locked over a steel loop in the steel trapdoor, preventing it from opening. A large keyhole in the front suggests it is a key operated lock as opposed to, say, a combination lock.

Besides, the hinges are obviously on the other side of the door. It's a trapdoor, it swings upward remember?

The side the hinges are on doesn't matter, the son of Superman could rip the door through the wall.
