Oi! Artist Request

Artists of ZU,

I'm on the lookout for an exceptional artist who would be willing to help out depict the best written concept of this upcoming Design a Boss contest. One of the main prizes for this contest is the depiction of the leading concept, and it is very important to illustrate this best designed Legend of Zelda boss. If anyone is interested or has questions, please respond by posting here. Feel free to post any work relating to beasts, LoZ fanart, etc. It'd be great if various artists would like to be part of Design a Boss.

What kind of art style are you looking for? Should it be in that sort of graphic, cel-shaded "Wind Waker" style? There are a lot of great artists on this site but if it's not done in the style the "employer" is looking for it won't get picked, y'know what i'm sayin'?

One of the main prizes for this contest is the depiction of the leading concept,

Where would the illustration be used? Is this for a fan-game or something? Or is it just like our regular art contests on here where the 1st place person gets a nifty banner?

Are there any specific criteria, like what the boss should look like, or are we to be let loose to design anything?

I'm not sure if I'm looking for a specific style. I think I would prefer the leading concept to NOT be depicted in a way that resembles TWW, though there may be the case where it would be suitable.

As you can see, humanoid boss concepts are popular, so it is likely that the requested depiction involves some sort of supernatural humanoid.

Design a Boss is a contest that involves forum members submitting written concepts of viable Legend of Zelda bosses for competition. The main prize for this upcoming contest is a Nintendo DSi. One of the more important prizes is the boss depiction. This is where the artist I'm looking for comes in.

The leading boss concept usually has a very strong and coherent description of the boss. Based on the written concept, the artist may depict said boss as he/she sees fit. I am very likely to edit and color the artist's sketch or image.

Hello! This sounds both super neat and super fun.

I feel a bit pretentious posting here, but ah well, here goes. I haven't really done any depictions of monsters in quite some time, but I could definitely give it a try (especially if they're at all humanoid, I do a lot of human work). I'm certainly interested in trying something new, though I'm sure you might not want to chance that.

Here is a link to my art thread which contains numerous examples of my work.

I could probably whip up a nice watercolor (not sure if that's a problem since most of the previous ones appear to be done on computer) if I was given the honor of helping out with the contest. If you find someone else that you think is better suited for this though, I'll totally understand.

Anyway, best of luck on the contest, this is such a neat idea.

Ah I think i get it now.. the artists are to illustrate the contest winners' descriptions, such as the "Father of the Voodoo" and the "Spectral Organist?"

Thanks for showing interest, Vynrah. Your work is very great, and it looks like you could do an awesome job at depicting the leading concept. I don't think I should hesitate or wait for more artists-- you are awesome for the job. Let me PM you more details on this and how it's going to work.

That's right. Unfortunately, I was responsible for depicting the winning concept of last Summer's Design a Boss, and I haven't had time to make the depiction. Whether or not man_with_thooo's concept of "Father of Voodoo" is going to be depicted or not, I'm still not sure. To ensure that the concept of this next contest is depicted, I decided to recruit artists. If Vynrah accepts the job, I think I'm done looking .
