[Orig] The Golden Box: A Graphic Novel

Gearing up for sending my novel out to publishers, the idea of doing an online graphic novel/comic in the vein of the series came to me. Now I'm not the best of digital artists, as I mostly dabble in photo manipulation, but so far I am rather enjoying this style. It's a lot of work, but the amount of expression you can squeeze out of so little a space is absolutely astounding!

I've never done anything like this before, let alone 100% drawn by myself with no stolen images, so helpful hints and critique would be most appreciated!

All I have fully completed so far are the first two pages, and I'm not sure how many this particular issue is going to carry, but here is what I've done up to this point. Click the thumbs for the full versions.

..What kind of publisher were you going to market this to? This would never fly, dude, I'm sorry..

For instance on page 3 the wooden floor is totally on the wrong perspective plane in relation to the bed, and why is there a shadow beneath the cradle in the next panel when it's supposed to floating in some ethereal void?

No offense, but maybe you should stick with the written work and don't try to do a graphic novel.. or you could hire a pro comic artist to do it..

Um...this is for my own amusement and for posting here on the ZU, not for professional publication, yo. My novel is what I'm sending out -- I'd be a dolt to try and sell this. I'm not spending a great deal of time on it either, with each page only taking about an hour to assemble.

Do you have a writing sample of the novel you could send a link to? I'd like to read a bit of it.

The Golden Box

Although that specific chapter has been removed, as version 3.0 is being focused to streamline the intro directly into the meat of the story, it still is a decent representation of my current writing level (the writing was good, but I deemed it unnecessary for the overall plot -- it's more backfill than anything).

And also, the series title has become The Golden Box, while the first novel has been rechristened 'Twill be Darkness.
