SM's Photoshop prowess~

Howdy boys and girls, I just got Photoshop 6.0 about two weeks ago and I've been experimenting with it. I'm still a pretty big newb so don't judge me that harshly but here are some of my feeble works, most of them whipped up in under 15min.

No. 1
This is my first ever real photoshop piece. I was just experimenting with the filters. It was for a good friend of mine (hence the hearts >_>). It's probably my favourite out of them all. I didn't like how bright the white on the text was though. It's probably easily fixable but meh, I'm too lazy to correct it ^__^

No. 2
My second creation. I think that this is the only which which has another picture used in it, specificaly the chick from Ghost In The Shell. 'Viper_33' is one of my friends SNs. I mispelt it as 'Vipper_33' though >_>

Meh, I decided to skip a few. I'm just too lazy to upload 'em at the moment. I'll get them up later. Anyway I just did this one about 20 minutes ago. I really like it because of the quote from evangelion, hehe. Also it's my first attempt at using scan lines. Umm, it probably needs a border. (It's the one featured below)

1st one is ok although the heart looks like it was cut from something else, other than that it looks ok although a bit to much like a greeting/valentine card for my liking.

2nd isnt really much other than a wind/movement blur, the font used is quite nice but loose the thick stroke and glow and set the font to smooth if its not already.

3rd has a better use of the stroke on text, a bit plain and i generally would avoid placing a lens flare as a simple object, looks a bit cheap but they can be used for some nice lighting effects - try combining it with a wave a second inverted layer and change the layer mode, often get some nice looks from that!
for instance the thing coming from my guys head started out life as a simple flare vvv

As for your pictures, skate_mate, they're not too bad. It'd be nice to see a bit more blending of images and such in the future, though...not that complexity is always good, of course.

Thanks for the tips, ininja. If I get time when I get home from school today I'll try those out and post them up here. And yeah in the 1st one I forgot to mention that I found a heart through a search in google and just applied some blends.

Just did this one this afternoon in 10 minutes or so. I just went crazy with the liquify tool. Wasn't trying to be good or anything, just experimenting.

This one makes no sense lol. I just having a go at using different layers and the selection tool. Obviously my screen name is way too light compared to the rest of the picture.

Had a go at using some filters in here. Went a little overboard with the Wave filter though. I made it for a friend (Natalie). The font doesn't really suit but I was to lazy to upload the version with the better font (can't blame me, I'm on a 56k!).

What can I say about this one? It's the fourth one that I've posted that is mostly consisting of blue >_>

This is the first one featured. It's pretty dodge but I liked some of the effects created.

the first is ok, a bit random maybe and i think youve got to much text on there but hey its ok your just experimenting which is the best thing to do with PS.

second one i quite like, nice shape to it it works quite nicely - maybe have a more colourful background image other than the squares other than that it looks quite nice

3rd one is pretty cool the shape is nice shape but its a bit to blended with the background and the 4th well um lets think...its very star like!

Wow, too me those look really good. I have Photoshop CS but I have no idea how to really use it like you did SM.

I'm more of a Fireworks MX 2004 guy... but I want to learn Photoshop CS. It seems to work very well for a lot of people here.

Wow..... I'm really no judge at stuff like that since I'm limited on crap like on PhotoImpressions, but from waht I've seen, they are very good. From what i see, PhotoShop has more options that PhotoImpressions.

I'm more of a Fireworks MX 2004 guy...

I used to use Fireworks MX until I got PS6. It's a pretty good program IMO but it tends to lean towards Vector too much for me. I actually only learnt how to make animations (GIF) in it recently, which is wierd considering how much I used to use it for normal graphics.

PhotoImpressions

Before I got Fireworks MX I used to use another program from the Arcsoft company, PhotoStudio. If PhotoImpressions is anything like Photostudio than yes, Photoshop definately has a lot more options. Tsuni is very good at using PhotoImpressions. If you want some tips you could talk to him.
