Go read a book or search the internet. Start practicing drawing. There's plenty of stuff to do without needing a teacher.

OK, you CAN get some pretty good info from the Internet, and read a book? No just no, and practicing drawing? OK, Im doing sprites, not pictures, and Id just preferr a teacher. Thx but no.

Sigh. Kids these day, I'm glad that in one year, I officially am not one of them anymore.

Anyhoo. I'm pretty sure of it that noone will put their time teaching some kid they plucked of the internet to teach them spriting. I can assure you, noone.
So just follow my advice and go learn it yourself, the internet tutorials can get you started on the basics. The pure basics.
The books are good for you, really. If you can find books about making graphics in games, pixel art or spriting. You really should read them if you want to be good. Because knowledge is power. You can't get good at something you don't fully understand.
And last but really not least. Get drawing. Because if you are good at drawing, you can be good at spriting. Because spriting actually is nothing more than drawing. And animating of course, so I suggest you try that too.
Sprites are pictures, animated game pictures to be exact, that really proves that you have a lot to learn, so get going.

Dude you are seriously wrong, I have one guy on my msn who is helping me right now a bit but he hasnt been on for 3 months, and im not doing books? Ok? Like honestly, Sooner or later along the lines I'll get a teacher, And please do me a favour if you're going to do that kind of stuff in this room, please im requesting that you take it somewhere else okay? Let me handle my thread. And dont tell me to get going, cause, Im NOT reading any books and waste my precious time reading a book about gaming... and "last but not really least" Im not drawing pictures, Im spriting not drawing for my grandma... Professional spriters, like those at Nintendo and Capcom, start with drawings. Then they scan it onto a computer, make it more pixellated but still good looking, then animate them. So if you want to do it how they do it, drawing will help a lot. But if you want to do it the other way, which is harder with scratch sprites, then look at tutorials. They have some at BobandGeorge, and there are sure to be others around the internet.

That type of attitude really pisses me off. I'm 12 (still a kid, damn) and I don't act like some immature a-hole. The best way to do anything is LEARN. Learn by watching tutorials, learn by READING how to make them! It will help you a lot! And don't scream at people for telling you the right thing to do!

Then you seem to have a different explanation on what spriting means. So what does spriting mean to your opinion? And please keep it friendly, I'm only trying to help you here. And with such an attitude even less people want to help you.

That's the third time I've seen that sprite, it is slowly but not yet turning into spammage.
And sprites are almost always animated. Or else they would be useless or actually tilesets.

1 question, did you made this all by yourself, because then it's really really good, like the cape.

Maybe you could explain us how you did this, I think it would contribute to this thread nicely.

Look people, if he wants teaching, then he wants teaching. I understand that you may be giving him advice but I think that if he's asking for teaching then that's what people should reply about. Offering to teach him. And Erro, if he's told you he's not interested in the books or searching the internet, then perhaps you should stop bugging him about it.

I stopped bugging him about it right after he made that last post. And giving advice is a form of teaching, so I'm hoping he learns.

Best way to learn, is to start off recolouring sprites. From then, you can then learn how they are structured and how you can then create your own sprites.
