The Legend of Zelda: The Darkness Within

Ok dis be my first fanfic please tell me how I started out!

Chapter 1: Dreams

The sweet bliss of the destruction of Ganondorf has brought on an age of peace within the boundaries of Hyrule. The desert Gerudo's have kept to themselves but have made an offer of neutrality, hoping to be left alone. All that the sages could hope for was that Ganondorf would remain sealed within the Chamber of the Void deep within the mountains of Mar' Kesh, located south of Kokiri Forest.

The children of Kokiri forest were playing as peacefully as ever, Milo being his arrogant self but the rest resuming normal activities. Four years have passed, and none of the children have grown up within the forest. The Deku Tree sprout has grown considerably, reaching the height of an orange tree.
A young boy was sitting on a square floating piece of wood with a fishing line in the forest pond, swinging his feat happily. Fourteen year old Link was the only one to have grown up, being a Hylian and not a Kokiri child. He had sharp blue eyes and well styled medium long blonde hair. He still wore the garb of the forest, a green tunic, but he also still carried the ancient Kokiri sword and the Deku shield.
Navi, a fairy partner he had four years ago which aided him in the sealing of Ganondorf, didn't have much time for Link anymore, looking over the growth of the Deku Sprout. He also didn't have any more contact with Princess Zelda, who looked similar to Link but with longer blonde hair and a beutiful face. He saw her constantly in his dreams, but he knew that she probably wouldn't need to see him anymore. He did, after all, go on a trip to a weird country and defeated a rather scary mask, leaving Hyrule behind. But he knew it was probably just because he didn't announce his return.

Link sighed and picked up his fishing line, not having much success at catching anything. He looked throughout the forest village, smiling at how the magical shimmers were still active. He looked up and on a small ledge he saw Saria sitting and playing her Fairy Ocarina, tapping her foot with the beat.
He put down his fishing line next to his tree house and climbed up the ledge.

"Nnnnhhh...Hey, Saria!" Link said happily.
"Hey, Link. Do you want to play with me?" she asked, pointing to her Ocarina.
"Nah, I just came to listen. You've gotten really good with that thing. I haven't really practiced with my Ocarina." said Link smiling and looking at the setting sun.
"Heh heh. That's why you need to play more with me. Every day you grow older, and I want to spend more time with you...Because sooner or later Milo will be forced to...kick you out." she said sadly.
"Aww, don't worry about it, I have a good ten years!" said Link patting her on the shoulder. Saria sighed but nodded grinning.
She put the ocarina to her lips and started playing a slower version of her own song, Saria's Melody. Link smiled and did and bounced his head back and forth on his shoulders with the melody. Soon, the moon crawled up from the horizon and Saria waved good night. Link sighed and hopped from the ledge after her, and went to his own tree house.

Link sighed and stared at his wooden ceiling. In the darkness, he saw Zelda's face. He didn't know if he could face her again. One day, he just picked up his things and told her that he was just going for a long time, when in reality it had only been two years, and the two years he was back home he kept it silent. Hearing her laugh in his head, his eyes grew heavy, and slowly his eyes drooped into a deep sleep.

Thunder split dark clouds that crept over the peaceful field. Link was wandering around, looking for something, but what he was calling out he couldn't even hear himself. Climbing up on a small ledge, he surveyed the land which was now being engulfed by a heavy rain. His elf ears drooped and he called into the night, and at the same moment thunder cracked through the area. Link sighed and turned around. Standing below him, a dark figure with a dark sword was looking right at him. Red glowing eyes stared at him from the ground. Link stood frozen. The figure jumped up and sliced at Link....

"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Link shouted, sitting bolt upright.
"What...phew...the hell was that?!" Link said to himself, wiping the sweat from his brow.
"Liiiiiink!!!!!! Liiiiiink! Someone here for you!" he heard his friend Saria call.
"Who is it?" he asked, blinking.
"I dunno, some guy from Hyrule City!" she shouted.
"WHAT?!" Link shouted, jumping out of his bed and landing on his face.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Darkness Within

Wow, the title of your fic and the story sounds a lot familiar.... I think I read something like this 2 years ago, but I can't remember. Though, I could be wrong.
But, I will wait for the next chapter

Oh, and I just realized. You seem to be new here, so welcome to ZU ^^

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Darkness Within

Chapter 2-Back to Hyrule

"I dunno, he says he's from the royal guard of the royal family or something like that!" she shouted.
Link ran out onto his porch, and like a typical klutz, he ran off where he was supposed to go down the ladder.
*BAM!*
Link landed face first on the ground and was shaking. He recovered quickly and jumped up, laughing slightly.
"Hmm? This is the Hero of Time?" said the knight in armor seriously.
"Yea, that's me. Watcha need?" Link asked.
"Grr...You sound like a little kid! Anyway, at first we were just checking to see if you did come back at all! Second, if we did, we were to bring you to Hyrule palace to the princess."he said officially.
"Wha-wha-WHAT?"Link stuttered.
"She made it clear to make haste. She said a friend already arranged for your horse to be at the entrance to the forest." he said sternly.
Link looked from the guard, to Saria, back to the guard and around again, confused as what to do.
"Go." Saria said quickly but she looked sad about it.
"Saria, I--''
"Heh. Just go, I know you'll be back. She probably just needs to talk to you after so long. You did leave suddenly." she said laughing.
"Oh...okay, I'll be back as soon as I can then." said Link, following the knight out of the forest.
Saria held her ocarina close to her chest and looking up to the sky.
"Bring him back safely, Din." she prayed.

Hyrule Field. It had been ages since Link last visited the field, lost in the confines of the beutiful forest. Parts of the fields grass were grown and were blowing softly in the wind. The rising morning sun was halfway above the horizon and cast the field into a heavenly light. Link smiled as he saw his favorite horse, Epona, with Malon at her side.
"Link! Heyas!" She said happily.
Her red hair was also blowing softly with the morning wind. She had grown up quite a lot, and her voice was more grown up.
"Hey, Mal--'' Link began
"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN FOR TWO YEARS! ALL YOU DID WAS RETURN EPONA THEN YOU RAN OFF!" She yelled.
Link backed down and a sweat drop ran down his head.
"I, I, I'm s-sorry! I spent a lot of time in the forest relaxing!" he said hurriedly.
"Whatever...anyway, I need her back before sunset, I have to go deliver something to the Gerudos." she said, and rode off with a different horse.

Link sighed and mounted Epona, the knight mounting his own. Link drew his old sword and swung it playfully, just like the four years ago. He placed his favored bow that he got in Termina around his body and slipped his health potion on his belt. After patting and petting Epona a couple times, he kicked her side and he and the knight were off in a trot pace.

The castle loomed in the distance. Link sighed and couldn't really come up with a good story as to why he ignored Zelda. Every time he saw her though, he felt strange, like he wanted to stay with her...but he knew that one day four years ago after the destruction of ganon, he had to go. Something called out.
"How are you the Hero of Time anyway with that thing you call a sword? The bow is nice though." the knight said casually as they passed a small stone wall.
"That was years ago. I only use my sword nowadays for killing deku babas back in the forest that grow too much. Ganon is sealed and I we're fine...right?" Link asked.
"Hrm...I don't know, boy, but we can only hope." he said, looking down.

At the market town, people stopped to look at Link. Link blinked at looked at them as the activity of the town dropped down.
"Is that him?"
"He has the green clothes."
"But that's not the right sword."
"He's cute!" he heard several people whisper.

A sweat drop appeared on Link's head as he and the knight rode through the path to the castle. Link looked at as many of them as he could, and most were looking at him. They finally got through the gate to the castle and the city became lively again after a few short whispers.

"Well, obviously they recognize you." said the knight as they rode the uphill dirtpath.
Slowly, the moat gate opened up and the knight presented himself. They both dismounted, and after fixing his clothing, they both walked in, Link slightly behind the Knight.

Proceeding down a purple carpet, Link observed the wall paintings of Kings of Hyrule, from the current King of Red Lions to the first king, Hyrule himself. Instead of going to the throne room, the knight beckoned him up the stairs.
"The kind is not aware of our presence. The princess requested that it be in secret for the meantime." he whispered as they walked up a winding marble staircase with tall windows on every side of them, sunlight filtering into the room. At the top of the staircase, a polished oak door stood in front of them. The knight stepped on the crest of the Triforce and it lit up, and the door clicked.
"AH!" he heard a girl from the other side gasp.
The knight pointed Link inside, and he obeyed. Link walked in, and the door cosed behind him. Link sighed and walked forward. He walked into a grand room, with a large purple bed in the middle, with a window overlooking the town. Before he saw anyone, he saw a field of blonde hair invade his vision and he felt something or someone hit him to the ground.
"LINK!" he heard a girl shout.
"Zel-Zelda?" Link gasped.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Darkness Within

Welcome to ZeldaUniverse. Very nice work, so far. If you haven't already, you should advertise this piece in the Writer's Council (thread somewhere on the main fic page, dunno if its still active, Mirren and I check in occasionally). It would be appreciated.

But, above all, keep writing! This story is fantastic!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Darkness Within

Thanks guys, but you two are the only one's who read it so far or replied anyway. (I've searched but I don't see any Writer's Council or something. ANyway, here's chapter three, and tell me if I ruin it because I'm kinda nervous I'll mess it up.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter Three--The Royal Family

"Where have you been all this t-time? W-we thought you were d-dead!" she cried, getting up off of him and looking down with a somber expression, tears streaming down her eyes.
"I-I'm sorry." Link stuttered, patting her on the shoulder. "I just needed some time to myself, is all."
"How much time, huh?" she said, wiping tears away and smiling slightly.
Link took a deep breath and looked into a crackling hearth in the right side of the room.
"After leaving, I thought...I thought that I had been so mean to you because I just dashed off. Well, not dashed off I just kinda told you quickly and you gave me the ocarina, telling me when I play it to remember you." Link said sadly.
"Well you could've said you were coming back!" she said, cheering up suddenly.
"Erk! Well, I did kind of miss that." Link said, scratching his head.
Link observed her a little more. She had grown up more beutifully than four years ago, and she had the most beutiful face he could imagine. Her dress added to it, being more elequent, but it had been ruffled some since she broke down.
"Heh heh! It's okay...I saw in my dreams you'd come back...But then I saw something strike you down when you did get--''she began
"You WHAT?" Link exclaimed.
"Urm...I saw something that looked like you but darker, and it sliced you right through the gut..."she whispered.
Link was shaking. He had the EXACT same dream. He stared into the hearth and thought for a few moments. What did it all mean?
"I...well it cant've been real, I'm here and breathing, riiight?" Link said, faking a laugh.
"I suppose so, tee hee. Well I'm glad...your alive, and that's all that counts." she said smiling.
Link blushed. It had been ages since he last saw her smile, and it made him feel warmer than it ever had been.
"Huh? What's the matter?" she asked.
"N-NOTHING!" Link exclaimed.
Zelda stood up, and Link quickly followed her to his feet. She walked over to the window and stared out into the city.
"It's amazing, isn't it? Before, when the reign of Ganon overtook the throne, population was thin and cities were decaying. Now, population is booming, and cities are beggining to blossom. Commerce has finally been established, and the people seem happy enough." she said, sighing and looking at a group of blue jays fly by.
"Yeah. I've been stuck in the forest, so I didn't take much notice." said Link, standing next to her. "By the way, what made it so imperative?" he added.
"Huh? Oh, heh, I just wanted the knight to make sure you were alive and make you get here as fast as possible!" she giggled. "But...I also thought it might've been moments ago that you got killed, because it was last night." she added sadly.
"I see...well, should I go back n--''
"NO! Wait! You must meet my parents! They've been wanting to see you for ages! The day ganon disappeared so did you, and they wanted to apologize so much for causing you all the trouble." she said, turning quickly to him.
"Oh...oh...kay." said Link. He always thought they hated him or something.

They proceeded back down to the entrance hall way. By now, the royal guard had taken up its post, lined up throughout the hall. Messengers were bustling through the castle, and commoners presenting problems to the squires, hoping to get something done of importance.
When Link and Zelda walked down to the landing, several of the knights bowed as they walked passed, Link blinking at them. A man standing on the side of the hallway was looking at them, but his entire body was covered by a cloak, and his head covered by a hood. He stared at them, but Link quickly turned his head.
"I don't understand. Why do they let suspicious looking guys like that in here?" Link asked.
"It's a new age. Freedoms have been increased, and I guess that's why our reign isn't challenged much." she said happily. "My fater turned over a new leaf with the sealing of ganon, thanks to you!" she added.
Link looked back, and the figure was still staring at him. Link glared at him, and the cloaked man turned and looked back at a desk with a knight behind it.
"Something's not right about him." Link thought to himself.

Zelda opened grand oaken doors, and it opened up a large dining hall where several people were dancing and some were eating around a rectangular table, missing the bottom side closest to the door.
"AH HA! SO THIS IS THE YOUNG LAD!" he heard a booming voice come from in front of them.
A man wearing a crown stood up, wearing a long red cape and golden armor. He called for silence, waving his arms. His grey beard covred his mouth, but his thunder blue eyes stood out clearly.
"Hear, hear! Our guest has arrived!" he said, his voice booming.
"Hail, the Hero of Time of legend! Thou hast returned!" several chanted.
A sweat drop appeared on Link's head, and he began laughing slightly.
"Umm...Hi?" he said.
"Ah, he acknowledges his title! Good lad! Resume the festivities!" boomed the King, and he beckoned Link and Zelda to two empty seats across from his. Zelda grabbed his wrist and pulled him their beaming.
The room was well lit, and the people of the court were dancing and chatting merrily. Some were whispering amongst themselves, and some children were gaping at Link. Link looked up and saw a grand golden chandelier, lit with several large candles potrouding from the golden spikes.
Zelda took her place at a gleaming oak chair, and she pulled Link into one right beside it, looking directly at the King of Red Lions.
"So! you are the one who saved us all." he said casually, stretching out a hand and Link took it and shook.
"Umm...yeah I guess, but it's been four years so--"
"Ha! Four years is nothing compared to what you did for us! ANd thanks to you, I've led us into a golden era!" he said, slamming his fist on the table and making several goblets launch upward.
"Ehehehe, I guess so." Link said, another sweat drop coming from his head.
"Good lad, good lad! I would like to ask, would you like to become an honorary General of the Hylian Army?" he asked.
Link stared, blankly at him. He didn't know what to say. He would have to leave his home back in Kokiri, and most of all, his friend Saria.
"Dad! DOn't you think you should've given him time to answer that?" Zelda said quickly and sighing.
"Oh! Of course, of course I will give you...huh?" he stopped short.

A low rumble rang through the area. Every one in the room stopped and looked around. Torches on the walls began to fade slowly, and a sense of forboding engulfed the area.
"What is going on?"Demanded the king.
Nothing but silence followed. The room went dead silent, and people were looking around carefully. Link stood up and looked around, from the floor to the sky roof. He gasped and looked at the sky.
Clouds began to crawl in front of the sun, casting a shadow into the brightly lit room. The chandelier candles began to dim, and a growl came from a doorway to a dungeon, and Link also saw some figure flying with a ragged cloak in the sky.

The room rumbled again. Then, in what seemed like less than a second, the cloaked figure Link saw in the sky began charging downward, along with a few other of them.
Crashing into the room sending the glass flying down at them, Link quickly summoned Farore's wind, blowing the glass back out of the window. He felt someone clasp to his torso, and he felt that it was Zelda.
THe figures were hovering in the room. They looked like floating grim reapers, only with no scythe to go with them. Their face was hidden, and their robes were very ragged. No sign of hands or any other body part shown. There were about twenty of them staring at them from above them. Several knights jumped up and drew their swords.
"What the?" Zelda cried.
The figures dropped down on them in a gliding motion, and they each picked a person to go for. Still frozen, Link saw as he saw some spirit like thing escape from the people standing in the room. Their flesh turned began falling off, and they had a zombie look about them, their jaws showing with flesh hanging from them. Twenty zombies were shaking their heads and began walking slowly to more people.
A mass panic engulfed the area. People began running every which way, and the reapers began to attack more and more people.
Link drew his own sword with a flash, and attacked one zombie, cutting it cleanly in half. It fell to the ground, one of its eyes rolling on the ground. He could hear screaming in every direction.
He went and slashed each Zombie that came within his path, and several knights were lending a hand. More and more people were being drained of life from the reapers.
Link saw a ball of yellow light fly over his head and strike one of the reapers. He turned around and saw Zelda chanting some spell calmly. She had gotten a lot braver than before.
The zombies began flooding into the room as some of the reapers began going into the main hallway.
"Knights! There's no way to fight all of em, each one we kill two more are defiled!" he shouted, slicing a zombie vertically in half.
"We can't stop!" Shouted one, he too cutting one cleanly in half.
"Link!" he heard Zelda call from the table.
He turned around and caught a blue stone Ocarina. Link grinned, already knowing what it meant.
He put the Ocarina to his lips and played the legendary sun song. Morning turned into night, and the reapers began to go ablaze in a green fire, decaying slowly, hearing the shrieks coming from behind their cloaks. Zombies began to fall to the ground, and slowly, flesh reappeared on defiled people that were still intact.

Panting, Link looked up to the bright moon. People began to get up and shake their heads. Link gasped as he saw the remains of the ones they had slain. If he had been thinking straight, they could've been saved.
He looked over at Zelda with a serious face. She was kneeling down, an expression of pure shock on her face. Sweat came from her forehead, and she was shaking insanely.
Link looked over to the main hallway, and several people were beggining to scramble out of the castle. In the chaos, he saw the same cloaked figure, still and his cloak blowing with the incoming wind from the shattered sky roof. When a group of people invaded Link's vision, he had disappeared.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Darkness Within

I'm kinda getting into my story so this should be one of the last chapters for today. P.S. if you read this plz post a reply on what you think, thanks.
------------------------------------------------------

"I...I don't understand...that came out of...of nowhere!"Zelda gasped, still shaking heavily.
Link was panting hard, and he saw some of the knights begin to put away their swords, so he followed. Severed body parts were strewn along the ground of the court, blood flowing from arms and legs and torso's, and severed heads were bathed with blood.
"Grrr...that came out of nowhere, the bloody cowards!" shouted the King, sheathing his own sword. Link was just surprised that he joined the fight as well.
"Well...It's a good thing that I still know how to play this." Link said.
"Yeah...yeah...umm...what are we going to do?" Zelda gasped.
Link walked over and grabbed her hand and pulled her up. She collapesed into his chest and passed out.
"This isn't a good sign. I've only seen those creatures appear within the tombs of Kakariko graveyard, and an exorcist years ago banished them to the depths of the underworld." explained the King. "Pick her up and carry her to the bedroom, we'll call the nurse."
Link blushed and looked at the king and then Zelda.
"Well, whats the matter, boy? Come on, she needs rest after seeing such a morbid scene!" exclaimed the king.

Link obeyed, and several knights followed the King and Alex up to Zelda's chamber. Link placed a cool rag on her head and followed the king back out of the room. The nurse came in and began mixing several weird herbs together with a mortar and pestle.
King Hyrule beckoned Link out of the chamber and called for his commanders, which arrived timely. Several people were working on clearing the blood bath, but several counselors and advisors followed the king and Link into a large, oval room with the insignia of Hyrule hanging down over a long marble table. He pointed to a chair next to his own and Alex took a seat, and along the marble table several others were taking their places, either at the table or around it.
The commanders looked very elite, standing in full armor and having helmets representing a phoenix with long decorated spears and a purple cloak, and they all stood around the king and Link.

"Well...we all know why we're here. Moments ago, a disturbing attack issued from an organized group that we haven't heard of for over fifty years, thinking they had been wiped from the face of the world." the king announced.
Several whispers went around the table, nodding their heads.
"Are you positive that they may have returned? The Delkia haven't been this hostile, mostly only a nuisance. However, the only heavy attack like this monstrosity occured in Kakariko forced us to send them straight to hell. And it took a lot of power to do that." said a man across the table.
"Although they appear to be monsters, Link, they are very organized, and were once the original holders of the area in Hyrule called the Valley of Mitusaj. When the ancient Hylians settled, the Delkia left us alone until fifty years ago, when they wanted to destroy us." the King explained to Link.
"So? Can't we just destroy them this time around?" Link asked.
"It is possible, but it is a heavy risk. A war broke out, and the elves were outnumbered in heavy masses due to the ability you witnessed back there." he explained as the other members were talking amongst themselves. "Luckily though, they aren't invulnerable, and it seems their numbers have dwindled considerably. With a trap set by ancient wizards, they managed to get the entire army of Delkia, and with the help of the sages, they banished them to the underworld. Now it seems they've broken out, or their are some remains." he continued.
"But...wizards don't exist anymore, at least I think." Link said.
"Yes, but we do have some warriors trained to perform certain spells, and you've learned some on your own." he said.
Link nodded. He still had that cloaked man stuck in his mind, wondering what it was all about.

The doors to the chamber burst open, and a man with peasant clothing walked in.
"Noble sirs! Scouts have sighted an attack of ancient Lizolfo's! They've actually organized, and they've also formed with the ogres of Death Mountain!" he called into the room. "An army has massed on the hills of Hyrule, and a figure with a long shining blade raised it. As of right now, they stand on the hills still, not moving!" he announced.
"What are you talking about? An army?" Shouted the king.
"That's all I know, I was merely to deliver the message from the scout towers at the main gate!" he shouted.
"Can you see who was leadng them?" the kind inquired.
"Yes! He looks like a hum...ARGH!" he suddenly grabbed his right shoulder.
A small dart was lodged inbetween the messengers collar bone, and he fell over, either unconscious or most likely dead. Link's ears twitched and he looked up at the window. Sure enough, a Lizolfo was standing atop, and Link unslung his bow. Grabbing an arrow from his quiver, he quickly drew back the string holding a single arrow and shot it. The arrow launched at incredible speed, and before the assassin could even blink, it lodged in his heart. Falling like a rock, he landed with a THUD and blood came from his chest.
"What in blazes?" asked one.
"Nice shot!" exclaimed a guard.
"No! THe messenger!" shouted another.
Some men were crowded around the man. His eye was nothing but white, and drool was coming from his mouth, dead.

"Calm down! Make sure to give this man a proper burial! Now, Link, I ask you!" he said, looking back at Link.
Everyone turned and looked at Link sternly. A sweat drop appeared on his head. What did he do?
"Do you accept the responsibility as General of the Hylian Army?!" exclaimed the king, echoing in the large room.

Silence followed, each still looking at fourteen year old Link. For his age, he knew it would be a huge responsibilty. But, for some reason they believed in him.

"I accept the duties you bestow upon me, my King!" he called clearly.
"Granted, General Link Unknown, lead us to victory!" shouted the court.
Link looked up at the ceiling, inspired to do his best.
"But, before we arrive at the line of defense, I think you'd like to see an old friend of yours." he said, opening a secret trapdoor below him. Stairs burst open and fell cleanly into place, leading down to a dungeon.
"What's this?" Link asked.
"Go down, and draw the blade that has been rightfully claimed by you four years ago!" he exclaimed.

Right last chapter for tonight I guess.
----------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 5--Bleeding Blades

Everything had happened so quickly, from the message and reuniting of the princess and Link,to the attack on the court, and to the sudden challenge from a united force. Not only that, he just accepted the title of General!
The chamber that he arrived in was cold and dark, and he was sent alone. However, light from the above room reflected a triforce symbol on the ground. Link stepped on it, and a white light emitted from the emblem. The room only lit up slightly, but nothing else happened. Taking the Ocarina from his belt, he played the old Zelda Lullaby, turning the white light into a multi colored aura.
The light emitting from the emblem split into all directions, lighting the room. Stained glass windows depicting scenes from the past decorated the room, along with four tall knights standing around a white platform. A white bridge extended from Link's position, leading to the center. The light reached the center, and the Master Sword gleamed brightly.
Link froze. Last time he did this, he turned into an adult. But since he was fourteen now, maybe it wouldn't happen again?
He sighed, but then broadened his shoulders and walked toward the sword. When he reached it, he grabbed the hilt. He felt a new strength flow through him again, and the triforce emblem glowed at the pedestal of time.
Ripping out the sword from its stone pedestal, the sword flashed brightly. However, nothing changed and Alex was the same age. Relieved in a weird way, he swung the blade playfully. The hilt fit in his hands perfectly, and the weight was evenly distributed. However, the blade seemed to have lost its ancient glow, but it still gave him strength.
Sighing with relief, he grabbed the scabbard that appeared next to the pedestal and buckled it around his chest. He replaced the sword in it, and walked back upward...

"Gal' Anju kalek tai wratnek!?" Link called in the night winds, which asked 'Wilst thou fight!?
"Koun taer y'vek!" replied about one thousand soldiers behind Link, which meant "With honor, General!"

The opposing side was still standing still, but they had no sign of a leader. The moonlight shone on the battle ground of Hyrule, and people were observing from the walls.
"Although this was an unexpected fight in such a short time, are you prepared for the challenge that lie ahead!" Link called, mounted on Epona and raising his sword.
"We will stand and defend our nation!" replied the Hylian elves.
"Archers, prepare thy bows!" Link called.
The sound of strings drawing back spread through out the line. Link signaled, and they raised up the bows pointing toward the opposers.

"Gal ter, toju tel Lek koun merr a der!" the opposing lizolfo army announced, but the ogres remained silent. Not only that, but a couple hundred men from a different country they had never seen before were chanting in the harsh language.

"I don't understand...one night we're at peace, next we are waiting for one another to make a move!" Link thought.
Zelda and the King of Red Lions were observing from a scout tower not far from the battle. Zelda was holding the Ocarina close to her heart and sick with worry.

Each army stood, staring eachother down. Lizolfo's were snorting, the elves were waiting patiently, the ogres were scratching their heads, but a commander on the opposing side had yet to show himself.
The sound of a bow's string being released echoed through the night, and an ablaze fire arrow flew at them from the enemy side. One of the elves blocked it with a metal shield. Link gasped, but raised his sword.
"Tel' Thanj!" he shouted, saying 'Fire arrows!'.
Bows were launching from across the line, and the other side exchanged fire.
"Terr yurr ka gar!" he heard something shout across the field, and the ogres and lizolfos began running at them, spears and swords raised.
"Easy! Long swordsman, ready position!" Link shouted.
The front line composed of elves with large shields that covered their bodies and helmets modeled like a phoenix head. The swords were extra long, and they held them down at their feet, waiting for the right moment.
Archers were still firing, sending a few lizolfos to their graves. ALthough the opposing sides arrows were flying in greater numbers, the front linesman were deflecting most, and the ones that got over it were destroyed by trained knights with magic.
As the lizolfos came near the line, Link gave the signal, and the elves at the front line each swung the long swords upward, killing each lizolfo in front. Then, all chaos broke out, and the clanging of swords rang through the night.
Link jumped off Epona and instructed her to retreat, which she went back to the castle.
A lizolfo came toward Link with its sword raised. Link parried as he swung, cutting the lizolfo's sword cleanly in half. Link spun clockwise, gaining speed, and sliced him right through the gut.
Link saw a blade out of the corner of his eye swinging horizontally at his body, and thinking quickly he swung his blade over head and parried backwards. He spun around and the monster swung around using his tail. Link ducked and stabbed the beast in the stomach and withdrew his sword, his spine tingling from the death cry.
He felt like a fool without his shield, but he still managed to take out several Lizolfo's.

"The battle is in our favor! They have no strategy!" the king exclaimed, looking down on the field, his expression going from concerned to excited.
"Father! People are dying! How can you say that?" Zelda shouted.

"Saiyaaaa!" Link shouted, slicing cleanly through another one of his victim's torsos. Whipping around and swinging his sword horizontally, he sent an axe flying backwards, and he quickly raised his sword over head again and sliced yet another foe.
Link began to panick as he saw comrads falling. The at one time green grass was turning into a crimson sea of red.
Clouds re-approached the sky, only no sign of Delkia. Instead, thunde split the sky, casting the dark field into a flash of light. Looking up, Link saw the same figure in the cloak standing atop a hill. Without thinking too much, Link jumped up and sliced him right through the gut, but instead of killing him, it went right through his torso. Link gasped and fell back down. Suddenly, the dark figure jumped down and drew his own sword.
Landing with a thud, Link quickly turned over, narrowly missing the attack. Attempting to redraw the sword from the ground, the cloaked figure abandoned it and ran off.
"What the hell!?" Link shouted.

Link forgot about that and went back to the fight. After what seemed like a day, the lizolfo force began to retreat. Link gave the order to slay anything that remained. As they were retreating, the same dark figure appeared.
The figure began to suck in the air around Link. Link suddenly felt like his very skin was trying to pry itself, and he felt like he was floating through the air. He felt comfortable, just wanting to fly away.
"NoOOO!!!" Zelda shouted coming down onto the field.
She drew a light energy from her mind and threw it at the figure, which retreated after being hit.
"Link? LINK!? LINK!" Zelda shouted.

Link suddenly felt like every body part in his body was being ripped apart, but he felt more like he was himself again. He was shaking madly, his sword lying at his side.
