I'm very glad about the turn out this month, with all these great pictures, and that many people voted and so quickly! I do hope we continue to get this much entries this month.

I could be mean and tell you to guess, but it'd be obvious sooner or later as the other artists stepped forward and spoke of their entries. Mine was Baby Chimera, although it didn't turn out the way I wanted. Remembering contests on the day of the deadline and rushing to finish will do that to you. >_>

Whoa, I won? Unexpected, but thank you very, very much to everyone who voted for my pic. 'Twas the first traditional art piece I've done in years, so it's nice for people to think I've still got something going in that area. Well, I did put a blue gradient over the top in Photoshop, but nothing else. All it did was make the paper look blue (I didn't have any blue paper on me at the time since I mostly drew my pic on the plane to the US [30-hour flight lolzors, what the hell else was there to do xD]). Congrats to EL and Kveldulf (I was trying to figure out who did that beautiful Loki picture!) for ranking in there, too. And to everyone else who entered, much love and respect.

... No, I've not thought of a theme yet, give me a break--I just woke up and it's not even 8AM yet xD. I'm thinking. Will post again.

Baby Chimera--Lioness: I actually spoke with my sis on Skype about your pic! She kept telling me how she loved your entry. I was wondering how you did the scaly texture on the snake? It's gorgeous. Also, I was wondering if you did that BG or if that was another image that you used a filter on? 'Twas a super-interesting technique, hun!
Faire--oh dear, I'm not quite sure who did this one o:
At the Edge of the World--Asta: you've got a talent for paint and I envy you like a mo'-fo'. How long did it take you to make that?
Joliette--Ranny: I think my favourite part of yours was the detail of the braids on the tail. Very nicely done.
Comprehensive Guide--Mr Spork (Kyle): Seriously, I took one look at this and went, "Oh, Kyle... xDDDD" Very clever, very witty, extremely funny (esp. NES-sie and the burning of Twilight xD), very YOU.
Loki--Kveldulf: Just wow. I forget the type of art that is where it's scratched in. I have a friend who does that, too, and I know how much work that takes. When I saw your entry, my eyes damn near popped out of my head. I don't know enough about Norse mythology, so I had to research a bit about Loki and found the story that you depicted. Fascinating.
Angels--EL: The way you draw hair is... something else, sweetie. I think I stared at your pic for a while, particularly the shading. Did you have a reference for that, or was it straight from your head?
Astelya--Midori: Your patience with Paint is incredible. When you draw your lineart, do you save it on a different file and drag it over later on when you've got your colours down? I was wondering if you do that (since the lineart is kept particularly clean which can be pretty difficult to do in Paint) or do you just go over the top... or are you that good at staying in the lines? (I sure as hell am not xD).

I don't know who made that Faire pic! Argh!

Liah: ^_^ Yay. The scales were made by the galaxy brush from GIMP. I had something else planned originally, but I guess it worked out in the end anyway. The background is a filtered photo, yes, thrown in after I realized how empty the picture was without something in the back.

I'm disappointed no one liked my entry...

Ranil, just because you didn't get any votes doesn't mean people didn't like your entry. It just means there were other entries in the contest they liked more. Or maybe they just flipped a coin to decide who to vote for, and you lucked out. Either way, I'm sure people liked your entry, it just didn't go all the way. 7 entries didn't place, that doesn't mean people don't like them.

That isn't why I thought no one liked my entry, but if people did, people did.

Wow, I'm really suprised the griffin painting didn't place.. it's a painting, c'mon.. but i guess people are going to like what they like.

I thank you all for voting for mine and for the second place award. Guess I'll have to try harder next time to get first.

The mermaids was a pretty good piece - lots of nice details. The anatomy could ahve been a little better and some more light and shade contrast, but i do congratulate the winner for this month.
