Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
I votes for:
1st: Entry 3 - Fox McCloud Cause you know, the amount of work put in and the immaculate shading and detail work is just awesome. It's a great piece and I love looking at it =D Not to mention Fox is of course a great hero =3 2nd: Entry 2 - Even Kids Can Be Heroes Haha, I pick this for sentimentality and because in the pokemon world, every trainer is a hero to themselves and their pokemon. Each trainer had their own ideals that they lived true to and I think its fitting they are represented in this competition. Sorry, I usually like to say why I pick things, and it does the artist good to know where they went well ^_^ |

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
1st: Entry 3 (Fox McCloud)
Of course, it might be personal taste since I'm a sucker for graphite, but the depth and shading here is very soft and nice and the result is something that's very nice to lay ones eyes on. The subtle "blur" movement effect basically sums the tag up. 2nd: Entry 1 (Heroes) I had an absurdly hard time deciding between this and entry 2, but I decided I preferred number one although so barely, as the only thing that separated them is that entry 1 looks more... you know, every "part" of the picture connects to the other, while the other piece consists of smaller pieces. I loved both entries and the drawing style is so unique on both.

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
First: Fox McCloud
Just wow. Amazing shading, clean pencil lines, and the perfect emotion captured. VERY nice work. 2nd: Heroes. Amazing colors, perfect anatomy, plus, the image itself tugs at your heart strings. I love kids who have heroes and stay true to them. The whole thing is just cute. |

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
First off, I just want to say that all of these entries were great.
First: Entry Five (Fox McCloud) All I can say is wow. Everything about this picture is great. Very nice work. Second: Entry Two (Even Kids Can be Heroes) Well, I like the Pokemon manga, and it has Silver in it, so that helps. In all seriousness, this is a very nice piece of artwork. I like the way the colours are done, and the fact that this was done on MSpaint makes it even more impressive. Whenever I try something on MSpaint the result is always so bad that a two-year-old could probably do better fingerpainting. ![]()

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
#1: Fox McCloud.
I can't really say anything about this one other than what's already been said. Not only is it "realistic" (well, as real as a fox holding a gun can be ), but the shading and angle is just spot-on. It's a badass pose, and I admit my bias here, since Fox also happens to be my main in Brawl as well. ![]() #2: Even Kids Can Be Heroes. This one's hard to explain why I like it so much. (And it has nothing to do with the fact that I could easily figure out who the artist was. xD) I just like the various panels showing various situations but same type of people, different colors. It all meshed together well, and every element complimented the other. It was very pleasant eye candy. ![]() |

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
1) Helen Clark!!! OMG, I LAUGHED xDD I tend to lean more towards humour with arty stuff because it's fantastic if you can draw, but, honestly, throwing in humour with some simple sketches is a lot more difficult than people think! Also, Helen Clark is my ex-Prime Minister and I absolutely love her. She's off to the United Nations now, but HERE'S TO YOU, HELEN <333
2) Heroes: the lack of a strong lineart and the colours standing out instead to make the figures is wonderful. The shadows/lighting is brilliant. The detail on the frame is goooorgeous. The child reaching out is what clenched it for me in the end--a heroic scene inspiring a youngin'. Fantastic. Great work, gaiz <3

1st. Entry 3: Fox McCloud
Very well done. Almost makes me want to be a furry. Almost. 2. Entry 2: Even Kids Can Be Heroes Pokemon kicks ass. This sucker made me nostalgic, and I remember when I was younger, I wanted to go out and adventure and explore, much like the chilluns in the pic.

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
1st: entry 1 - heroes
I *loved* the concept of this one. to me, art should have emotion as much as technique - and this pulled off both beautifully. I got wrapped up in the emotion the image was supposed to portray - I literally "awwww"ed. the other entries didn't invoke this sort of a response from me. I'm also a sucker for the subtleties - the hero and the girl looking at the boy aspiring to be the hero...everything coming full circle. that all being said, there was no question. and then to top it off, the technique: good use of space, you have good details of the hair and the frame on the bulletin board...it's just overall very sound within its own style. a very well-executed idea. 2nd: entry 3 - fox mccloud this had the best technique and shading, IMO. geez, the perspective of the gun staring you in the face...and the details of the fur on the ears and tail are great. like rew said, "a badass pose."

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
1st- Fox McCloud.
As much as I don't like his furry antics outside his Arwing, this is a fantastic piece of work. 2nd- Even Kids Can Be Heroes. While it may not win the award for "best artistry", I really like this one. Its fun, interesting, and makes me think about running away from my family and school at a young age to play with animals.

Re: April Monthly Contest - Voting
1 - The King Has Returned
I suck at art critique stuffs, so I'll just say that I think it's pwetty and that I wub the Lion King so it gets my vote. 2 - Helen Clarke, Ex-P.M. Okay it ain't exactly very pretty and some of the text is kinda difficult to read but I just kinda thought I loved its over-the-topness.
