January Art&Writing contest~!

Hi everyone! Sorry about last month, all this stuff happened all at once and I had no time or motivation to do a December contest. By the time everything was solved it was way too far into the month and you wouldn't have much time to come up with something. Plus with all the Holidays that happened, I can bet that people would have been too busy to join anyway.

To make up for last month we will be having an Art and Writing contest. Each having the same theme but different set of judges. They will also have different submission threads. Whomever posts a submission here will have their post deleted and be berated by me. >:3

The Judges for the Writing Part it's Kittie Kara and Crab Helmet/ Whatever he is called now

The Judge for the Art Part it's Bitterlime. No, he's not going to be by his lonesome, we just need to find another judge to judge with him. I have an idea who to pick for that part, but I just want to get this contest started. :3

For the month's theme, I decided to do something more traditional and that is: Villains. Recomended from a well known series like for example; to Zelda, Mario and Final Fantasy but it can be from any series. So this means you can write a humourus or serious little story about your favourite villain or draw a comic or just a picture about a villain as well. The options are (almost) unlimited.

Recomended things are: For Writing: About 500 words up! (Unless the story is in scrip format) Try to make it easy to read and have good grammar.

For Art: If a comic, make sure its easy to follow, and say if its comic way (left to right) or manga way (Right to left) for speech bubbles and panels. Thats about all I think.

Well I was waiting for the first person to say they were done and I would make a submission thread. I guess I will make a submission thread for the Writing part now. :>

Edit: Also grapefruit: no way are you doing a R18+ one. I will shoot you if you do that.

I'm stuck between drawing a picture, or writing a short story.

Well thats the original idea, but its about the end of the month now, so I might have to let it go into the next month a bit. (funny that I finally get it ready on time, everyone takes notice towards then end of the month )

Awesome! Well, mine's almost done. It's a little long, at 6k words already and still has a bit to go, but I am ecstatic to get it posted! It ties in with my fanfiction as a bit of backstory, so it makes it even more interesting...at least to me.

*edit* (hopefully it isn't too long - the rules didn't specify a cap.... I can wrap it up if you would like, so you're not subjected to having to read an entire 20 page novella, and finish it for the fanfiction threads.)

*edit2* I also created a logo for it, one that matches the rest of my Evil's Bane series. Can I post it with the work, or should I hold it for when I post it in the fanfiction forum? I know the thread is marked for written entries only, and I wouldn't want to impose any upon that.

So we can write about any villain?

Edit: Are you going to extend the deadline? If so, what's the date of the new deadline?

Yush any villain, but if its not a well known villain please put links explaining the villains history, etc for the judges. :3

and the extended date is a maybe, depending if people want one.

Well in the last contest 6 pages was the largest but I would love to see larger ones if they can write it. Though I think 20 pages is about enough, so you should wrap it up. :3

I would like an extension since I just found this contest and it's nearing the end of the month...if you're willing to extend the deadline, that is.

Sorry for the double post, here, but...do you think you could extend the deadline one more week? School work is killing me, especially since I missed a day.

But if you can't, that's alright. I guess I'll just keep an eye out for the next contest if that's the case.

Yeah we can extend it a little longer, because I want more people to get into the contest as well as I have been distracted myself. Sorry people. ;_;

We will see what happens in the next two days and then I might have to extend it to the end of this month if barely anyone posts. D:

Alright peoples. I don't have the computer until next Tuesday (And havent had it for the most of the week ;-; ) so that will be the deadline. At the response to this contest (or the lack of) I am considering not having monthly contests anymore. Prove me wrong please. >:[

It would be sad for the monthly contest to go away, though, just looking at how quiet it is, I wouldn't blame you for dropping it. I hate not having any competition - doesn't drive me to be better. :/

I even dropped a line in the GAA forum, as the SotW is pretty active and those people are artists on so many levels, but no response. Makes me a sad panda.

Maybe we just make if not monthly and more a once a season contest? So we have breaks? *Shrugs* I dont know. I need to see what other people think. xD

Doran thank you for trying to keep this alive, and for posting in both contests. I guess you win by default, and Mr Okami (who also posted something, thank you very much <3) gets second place. :3

Maybe I should bugged more people? Either way I will let these contests die a little and try again in a couple of months. Maybe people will be more interested then aye? I will leave this thread open if anyone wants to say something.

a once a season contest sounds like a better idea. it gives people more time. time is always the issue in my case. i'm lazy + i have school work to do. -_-;

sorry i couldn't get an entry in. i was going to write something about majora's mask, but it's such a strange, abstract character it was hard to put something together. .__.

I concur - a seasonal contest would be good.

And yay for default win...though it seems a little cheap. :/ Ah well, it all was good practice.
