Man Killed By Manga Collection

Man Buried by Manga Discovered Dead After Quake - Anime News Network

Now despite the fact that the man is dead, did anyone else laugh their ass off at the possibility that he was actually killed by his manga collection.

Re: Man Killed By Manga Collection

See this is why if you have a huge manga collection you should NOT pile it into stacks higher than you.

It's just common sense.

Wow.

Um, I'm not sure what else they guy could've done, though. I mean, a bookcase would've probably been worse...

Edit: Also, what kind of massive manga books was he reading? I mean, you can't fit all that many on your chest, and if they're the size of the ones in my collection then there's no way that they could've killed him.

Japanese manga are actually smaller than what you buy in America and Canada. I'm thinking he had stacks of weekly magazines, which are about the size of a phone book.

Re: Man Killed By Manga Collection

^ Yeah, the Manga we see in North America is a completely different publication of it than what's in Japan. The volumes are usually collections of weekly episodes that they put in some magazine over there.

Here's my question about this story though; how frickin' small was his room that so many books were able to fall on top of him? I mean, if he couldn't get up from them, he would've had to have been covered from head to toe in thousands of books all piled on top of one another, and there's no way he'd that the space would be completely filled in a room of even average size.

Japanese apartments are pretty tiny.

Re: Man Killed By Manga Collection

Depends on where you're living, but they can be that or smaller. I've seen rooms where there's nothing but a futon bed in the center and maybe a desk and some shelves, but no space for anything else.

I haven't been there but from my friends who have, and from my Japanese friends, they are pretty small. They also describe stairs to be a very different thing then here, much steeper to save room. Though that might have just been the one apartment building my friend stayed in.

Japan, huh?

"That's our third case this week."

This has irony all over it.
