FLCL (Fooly Cooly)

This is teh funniest piece of anime I have ever seen.

BEWARE!!! It is probably the most random thing you have ever seen.

FLCL is a 6-episode japanese anime production that impresses and entertains beyond explanation. those who find their way through it's layering of bizarre beauty will realize what it truly is: the greatest thing ever.

FLCL, also known as Fooly Cooly or Furi-Kuri in Japan, centers around Naota, a Japanese kid whose beloved older brother has recently moved to America to play baseball. As if that wasn't hard enough for him, he now finds his brother's shattered (and much older) girlfriend Mamimi latching onto him for support. In the midst of it all, Naota (or as Mamimi calls him, ta-kun) finds his already troubled life turned on its side as a strange girl named Haruko rides into town on a Vespa scooter and smacks him on the head with her trusty, electric-blue, motorized Rickenbacker bass guitar. From here, things spiral into a wonderful insanity.

I urge you to watch this!! It is really a great anime!

I have never seen an anime, I loved more then this one. It was short and to the point (unlike some animes coughnarutoDBZcough).

What are you talking about? Both get to the point but are still pretty sh-tty. If you want to talk about anime that don't get to the point, you should be looking at Inuyasha.

I always found it funny, but problem was, parts of it, like the kid's brother, was totally never fully explained. Were we supposed to have known some of it before?

I saw all of 'em. I didn't get it. One moment we're grieving and the next we're being manhandled by older alien women and destroying giant robots dressed as Sherlock Holmes with our forehead balls?

Forced randomness is not funny.

Of course! Forgetting the message about coming-to-age it portrayed in that randomness, totally sucks!

I'm not sure exactly what you meant by that.

If you're implying that I was supposed to enjoy it just because it attempted to portray a life lesson while simultaneously failing miserably to make me laugh, then I say shame on you.

This is my favorite anime. I like the animation, it's not too dramatic, like most anime, and it has parodies of south park! (FLCL is the only other cartoon that is worthy enough to make fun of SP)

This and Paranoia Agents were the only animes I liked. I don't know how to elaborate on that. Furi-Kuri was a great show.

Fooly Cooly wasn't made to make anyone laugh, it was mostly an experiment by the people who created the anime to try different styles of animation and direction.

Although aside from that, it had a real nice message beneath all that randomness and was completely understandable if you actually looked into it about coming to age, along with great music and animation style. A genius anime even though it's not the best.

I didn't say anything about it's animation or music. I never once said I didn't like them. I did. I liked them quite a bit.

I said it wasn't funny, and I'm standing by that. Regardless of what it was made for, its fans have made out as if it were the funniest thing to ever grace me with its forehead balls. I personally did not find it funny at all.

I thought it was funny visually. The music kind of got annoying at times though.

Fooly Cooly is pretty good. I didn't get any of it until the last episode, though.
