Air Gear

Air Gear is an oft-overlooked manga/anime. When you ask somebody "What anime or manga do you like?", you probably won't find this one on the list. Which is a waste, because it's a very enjoyable manga.

So! Let me tell you about it. "Air Gear" is a manga about Minami Itsuki, a young boy who starts to do the newest extreme sport: Air-Treck. Rollerskates with a 4x4 engine. High-ranked Riders see him as potential for the new 'Sky King', and trouble unfolds before you can say "Where are the brakes?".

Personally, I highly prefer the manga. Oh!Great provides the readers with enough fanservice, action, high speed battling and 'tricks' to go for a lifetime. Perhaps somewhat standard characters, and a bit much philosophy and repetition of lines, but I really enjoy reading it. During the fight between Itsuki and Buccha, I started shivering. Not because of the cold or because it was bad, but because of the intensity of said fight. I litteraly felt the tension between the two Riders, going all out against each other... It was amazing.

There are faults in this manga though. First of all, it defies the laws of physics. And makes it's own. Which I didn't really like. Second of all, there's sometimes WAY to much fanservice. The story gets blocked by boobs, it seems.. Third, there's not enough scanlator groups. The early chapters are only on OneManga, and that's usually okay... Until you hit the double pages. They become smaller? What kind of logic is that?! And there are a TON of double pages in Air Gear.
