Death Note Coming to Adult Swim.

Yep. Death Note's animation is coming to America on Adult Swim, saw an ad for it a few nights ago. October 20th I think the date was for the premiere.

Discuss.

The English voices are pretty bad, I doubt I'm gonna watch it. I've already seen it all plus the movies. Thats all I need.

I'm mixed on this. On one hand, I'm happy to see the anime coming to the US, but Adult Swim anime is a bit iffy for me, as there will probably be a lot of idiotic fans of it.
Oh well, whatever gets me my L fix. <3

I'm also curious about how the anime is - I've only read the manga and seen the first movie.

Is Light's voice still the same as it was in that trailer they released a while back?

I sure hope not. I can't stand that voice. >_>

I like the anime Adult Swim usually airs. They've had FMA, Cowboy Bebop and others I haven't seen yet like Paranoia Agent, FLCL, GITSAC, and others I don't like all that much like Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho.

I've read book 1 and though it was amazing and I've also read in anime insider about the anime so I'm really excited. But I hope it doesn't start to suck or have an annoying fan base *cough* Naruto *cough* not that I don't like Naruto, just all the filler got annoying.

Not impressed, I don't like Death Note personally.

Besides, shows such as Death note are all targeted towards kids.

I don't know if I'd say Death note's targeted towards kids because it's got a lot of adult themes, plus it's really morbid. I doubt anyone would want their kids carrying around their own Death notes writing people's names in it they want to kill. That's just not good. But then again, you could be right considering that they'd probably find some way to spawn a trading card game from it and it become the next Yu-Gi-Oh. Who knows with marketing these days.

You know I still dont see how Death Note could be targeted towards kids. Its such a morbid show. I mean the main character basicly developes a huge god complex in wanting to destroy all the evil in the world.

Its just not a show for kids.

I love some of their shows, but sometimes the fanbase of them bothers me, is all.

Yeah, no. :/ If you'd paid attention, you might have noticed that it's not that childish of a series. (though it's not exactly adult either, but it's above "kid" level at least with a lot of its themes)

Death Note was one of the best anime I've watched in quite some time. The story, the character development, everything was epic. The only part of the series I didn't like was Near's arc, as everything worked out just a little too conveniently for Near, I think. The ending more than made up for it, though.

Glad it's gonna get more coverage. Whether or not the dubs are good is... always a gamble, but whatever.

Hate to break it to ya, while it's not a childish-themed show by cultural standards in the West, it's very much targeted towards kids in Japan. Basically, it's the stereotypical seinen mystery story MADE for preteens and people in their early teens. As much of it being a pretty good suspense manga, compared to hundreds of similar seinen titles, like any manga created by Naoki Urasawa, it really does fail what it tries to be.

Now, it wasn't entirely bad, it was a pretty nice shonen manga for a while there, especially in terms of suspense, even though it's been done to death. But pretty much anything that's post-timeskip just is dull and boring, and isn't really needed.

Although I must say, I love the anime much more than the manga, so I might just catch this on AS.

I've heard Death Note was good, but I was too lazy to read the subs. I seriously hope that they don't do a terrible job with dubs like they did with Blood+. And that was such a good anime too...

I liked Light's voice more than I expected I would. There were a few parts where it sounded too whiny, though.
Can't wait to hear L's.
