Elfen Lied.

Has anyone seen this anime? I love it, in fact, i stayed up till 8am this morning finishing the episodes. Sadly its only 13 episodes long (14 if you count the OVA). Since I just finished it, I was wondering what someone else's thoughts on it were.

It does contain quite a bit of nudity, but no intercourse. Also contains blood, lots of it at times. (I reccommend watching the Japanese audio with English sub, as the dub sounds retarded.)

The plot revolves around humans born with "horns" not the type that you would see demons have for example, but more like small protrusions of bone. These humans are called the Diclonius, and they have been given the ability to use "vectors", or invisible arms, capable of doing anything from grabbing something to slicing stone to stopping bullets midflight (can't deflect some higher powered rounds, like 50 cal.). But these Diclonius aren't capable of surviving among humans for long, since they begin killing uncontrollably, normally starting with their own parents. This all happens around the age of 3 years old, and while it may seem like its because they're young and don't know how to control the vectors, the truth is that Diclonius are extremely intelligent, even if they are still emotionally and physically young.

this is an awesome anime/manga.

great story, (pretty) well developed characters. too bad its soo short, episode 13 is what volume 7? and there is 12 volumes. so there is some content for a second season, which i would love to see.

its name is taken from a old german poem, also the word Siphelit (diclonius who cannot reproduce normally) is borrowed from the same poem.

BTW it won an award for it use of colour if i recall. not all the blood, but the backgrounds, i think it was some of the graveyard scenes that it won the award for.

the truth is that Diclonius are extremely intelligent, even if they are still emotionally and physically young.

Siphelit's age twice as fast, Nana is 12 yrs old physically, yet she is 6 yrs old mentally. This doesnt happen to Diclonius. Lucy acts her age which is about 19

I saw an AMV for the show once, and meh... I didn't really like it, to be honest. Maybe it was just the AMV? I dunno, but I might watch it at some point. Probably not, though.

The only animés which are truly overrated are DragonBall Z, Naruto, Bleach and all other shounen crap.

Yeah, maybe around here, but everywhere else in existence, constant otaku claim that Elfen Lied is the greatest anime ever when it only has an overused theme and pulls it off pretty good but nothing special or great or amazing as everyone claims it to be. So yes, it's quite overrated. It's a good anime, but it isn't amazing.

I'm a big fan of Elfen Lied. I accidentally got elfen lied when I ordered a Disney Move (). So I watched the first episode. It was the crappiest thing I ever seen. But then I watched the second episode and I got hooked.

They should continue the serie. 13 episodes just isn't enough for a great serie like this. And I want to know if it was Lucy behind the gate in the last episode.

Personally, I believe they reveal whether it is Lucy behind the wooden gate in the Elfen Lied manga.

i started watching it, but the gore was rediculously unnecessary, and the plot seemed to rip off chobits at first. my friend has since seen a few more of the episodes, and liked them for the most part, but i couldn't even sit through one. sorry.

Well if you don't care about the blood and nudity and just focus on the story. Then you will love it.

I havent read the manga but so far I've seen up to ep.6, at my house we have dig. cable so I watch it on the "Cutting Edge On Demand" Channel, sometimes they skip episodes so I haven't seen ep. 4 yet. Anyway, even with the blood n' every thing, I like it.

I have seen this anime. I like it, but it is VERY gory. A little bit too adult for my tastes. The story is quite good and the characters are ok. It came across to me as to small, however. Like it should have been on a bigger scale, since although they were strong and all, they were not like something really threatening. But that's what I think.
