Miyazaki

Tisk Tisk Tisk I can not belive no one has made a thread about the amazing Miyazaki. He made award winning anime films I think all his films are great but what films of his do you like and why you like them goes right about here. My favorites are Spirted Away, Howls Moving Castle, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Re: Miyazaki

We have... like 3 times in the past 4 months, and we all concluded that he kicks ass... except vacumgod and some other dude who thought they were too cliched and similar. Spirited (ahem) Away was really good and deserved the awards. Princess Mononoke and Kiki's Delivery Service were very good too. If you haven't seen Princess Mononoke then go see it because it is by far my favorite and has lots of cool things going on. I noticed that each movie (all that I've seen anyway) have a sequence with the main character flying, he does such a wonderful job of portraying the miracle of flight and how free it feels blah blah blah. It's late and I don't feel like going on about it, I'll copy and paste some of my old posts into this later.

Re: Miyazaki

Miyazaki = Win

All Miyazaki films are masterpieces. My favorite was Spirited Away. I also like Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds. I never saw Laputa or Princess Mononeke...

Re: Miyazaki

I love Miyazaki. His films are amazing, but one thing I absolutely hate: My favorite movie of his is Spirited Away, and I HATE the ending to it! He leaves too much up for our imaginations, and it drives me insane. I know he doesn't make sequals... but still...

I've never seen Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I REALLY want to though. I've heard it's good.

And of course, the newest movie of his, Howl's Moving Castle, rocks! It's the first of his movies with actual romance shown... (except I don't know about Nausicaa since I've never seen it) although I have to say, I read the book after watching the movie... it's SO much different from the movie, but it explains things that happened in the movie and made things a lot more clear, so I'm glad I did read it.

well, I've said this 10 times already, hell, why not make it 11

he's a brilliant concept artist and writer, his animation is pretty standard, meh, he's cool.

Talking Princess Mononoke!

WOW i haven't watched a film this good for so long i can't remeebr..... awesome film, it had the perfect setting, story, action ,etc. I love every minute of it... often when I see films I expect more than I get... liek in king Arthur, I didn't expect the film to finish at that battle near the end I though I would see what would happen when they went to italy, a lot of films now seem to short and don't finish well...however princess Mononoke was incredible..... has anyone else seen this amazing film.... I watched it on film4.

I'm a Miyazaki fan. My favourites are the same as Link the Farmer's.

Pfft, I love his animation style. Considering when some of his movies were made the animation standard isn't too bad I think. Nausicaa perhaps is a good example of this?

Re: Miyazaki

Miyazaki... eh. I really enjoy his movies and animation styles, but I honestly think that his movies are WAY overrated. Sure, they're good, but better stuff has come and gone (anime and non). Just watch FMA. It's better than Miyazaki's work, story and animation-wise (IMHO). Of course, it's a completely different genre, but still. I don't want you guys to think that I am in any way bashing Miyazaki, because he's a great guy. I just think that his movies are overhyped and overrated. He's great, but not quite spectacular.

Re: Miyazaki

I still haven't gotten around to seeing all this movies yet, namely Kik's Delivery Service and Poco Roco but I will in a matter of time. Of the one's I have seen though, his best work is Princess Mononoke, which probably my favorite movie of all time, let alone anime. Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro are his other two masterpieces in my opinion, both being incredibly imaginative, fun and emotional, while Laputa was a fantastic adventure movie. I was dissapointed with Nausicaa and Howl's. They were both solid, but I thought they had some major flaws in the storyline department. All in all, he's probably anime's best working man. If anyone tops him it's Satoshi Kon, but I'd say Miyazaki beats him marginally.

Re: Miyazaki

I LOVE HIS FILMS! <3 <3 <3. All of my favourite movies are made by him. Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Laputa, Kiki's Delivery Service *sighs* I just love them all!!! They're just amazing, absolutely beautiful.

I'm trying my best to watch all his movies, but I haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle, Poco Roco and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds yet *cries*(Have I missed any out? Please tell me if I have ^_^, I was too poor when Howl's Moving Castle came to the movies X3, so I'm gonna have to beg my brother to get out all of these for me next time we're at the DVD store (I'm only allowed to choose one DVD every visit, getting two is pushing it *pouts*), if they have them. They better have them, or else I'll throw a tanrtum in the store

Every movie of his has made me cry... but then again, I always cry X3

Re: Miyazaki

I actually think the new dubbings for the movies are really good and I have no problem watching them in English. The Fanning sisters did a great job in Totoro.
