Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

I'm sorry, though I can't see why you would want to write a walkthrough to a game that came out 10 years ago and now has more walkthroughs then you can imagine. All the info is out there now....

Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

i can see why you'd think that. its just something i wanted to do for a while and never got around to. the walkthrough is more for my own enjoyment when playing either Ocarina of Time or Master Quest and id like someone else to use it to see if its well written and not confusing.

also alot of the walkthroughs available on the net are hard to read and the information is difficult to locate so i tried to lay mine out in an easy to read format.

Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

Hey, I'll do it. I have a lot of time on my hands now that school's over.

Have you considered widening your audience a bit? Maybe include a guide to the Beta Quests and Master Quest, and such? Just a suggestion.

Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

thanks for the suggestion tsuruneru,

at this point i've only completed up until the temple of time/adult link section in my walkthrough, im trying to be thorough as possible. as said above all of the information is already out there for anyone to find, but in my own experience in recently trying to find a suitable walkthrough to help me play ocarina of time, i found most walkthroughs completly unhelpful, lacking information and sometimes straight confusing (example: go left, go right, look up, kill enimies, jump down, fight boss) this is both the reason i have begun writing the walkthrough (to help myself) and that i feel there is not alot of easy to find information as most of them are made on wordpad or notepad and are nothing but bunched up words when you look at the screen. I'd just like some other peoples opinions on how helpful MY walkthrough is before i start calling other peoples work confusing.

id also like people to point out anything i might have missed along the way. my plan is to write a walkthrough that is by the fans for the fans and includes any piece of information needed in an easy to read, easy to find format.

once it is completed i will begin rewriting the suitable sections to fit for beta and master quest walkthroughs. i have planned to put alot of info into the betaquest section, because for me at least this information was very hard to find

so if anyone wants me to send you the file containing the walkthrough PM me your email address and ill send it along. if not i will have a website up soon

also i will be starting a walkthrough for twilight princess that will be in the same style so any links to good walkthroughs or information that may be helpful, feel free to PM me about the matter.

Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

Uh, hi
You'd be better asking someone who hadn't played OoT before and was comfortable with using a guide. Anyone else who is farmiliar with the game wouldn't use the guide a lot while playing it, or if parts of it were confusing, they could use their knowledge of the game to figure out what you're talking about.

Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

thanks for the reply

but im not quite sure how that affects how helpful the guide is or should be. I played ocarina of time my entire childhood and a good part into my teenage years, then didnt play it for 2 or 3 years. coming back to it recently even though i have played it many times as you suggested, i was still quite confused by much of the information in walkthroughs found via the internet even though i was familiar with much of the story in the game already.

of course people that have played the game before have alot of the events through out the game memorized but if that is the case, i cant see why they would be needing a walkthrough in the first place.

also as you suggest maybe they wouldnt use the guide AS MUCH but may still require it for somethings. i wouldnt need my walkthrough for everything either, but the point of what im trying to do is have the information that the individual player needs for their own game, but most importantly it will be easy and fast to find amongst all the other information.

if anyone would like to talk to me about some things you would like to see in the walkthrough please add my msn account: the_legend_of_eaker@hotmail.com

please note i only use this account for zelda/walkthrough related issues so i dont check it everyday, please allow the proper time for me to respond.

thanks everyone

Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

I'd help you, but I practically know exactly what to fo in OoT by now. You'd better take a first timer to help you. Or write a walkthrough of MM, I think it is needed more there.

Introduction.

First off I’ll say thanks to any one reading this walkthrough…

Next, I’m playing this version of Ocarina of Time on the Collectors Edition- promotional 4 game disc that was released on Nintendo Gamecube. (The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2-The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask) the game is exactly the same as the Nintendo 64 version, accept the controls are laid out on the Gamecube controller. So keep that in mind if you’re playing this game on the Nintendo 64.

Here’s a quick list for reference, of different console versions of the game

 The Legend of Zelda- Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64) (Black and Gold Cartridges)
 The Legend of Zelda- Ocarina of Time (Nintendo Wii VC)
 The Legend of Zelda- Ocarina of Time (Nintendo Gamecube)
 The Legend of Zelda- Collectors edition (Nintendo Gamecube)

You can also get The Legend of Zelda- the Wind Waker. Limited edition (Nintendo Gamecube) the second limited edition disk included contains:

 The Legend of Zelda- Ocarina of Time
 The Legend of Zelda- Master Quest (both Nintendo Gamecube)

Master Quest, for those people who don’t know, is basically the exact same game as Ocarina of Time but the dungeons have been remade and are significantly harder. Other then that there is no change that I know of that is different between the two versions.

Just some quick information on how you should use this walkthrough for best results, for each region we enter through out the walk through, I will provide a brief summary of the location and what you can find there. I will also for major parts of the walkthrough provide you with a list of your main objectives for that particular part of the game, dungeon difficulty levels (which also have numbers which look like this [1]-[2]-[3]-[4]-[5] and range from 1-5 indicating the level of difficulty) and time taken to complete (which just so you know means the time it took the author to complete). You can find this information at the top of each section or sub-section.
I have also provided most of the text from the major characters throughout the game.

Also I should mention, although this game is almost ancient, and MOST people would have no doubt played it, I wrote this walkthrough trying to not spoil the story for any one who may not have played this game. I do not discuss the later parts of the game until you reach that section of the walkthrough. So at the bottom of the walkthrough you will find various sub-sections detailing all of Links weapons, Gold skulltula Locations, Secrets of Hyrule and more. Check the contents section for a quick-reference. Please do not read these sections if you have not played the game before, as they will be spoilers for you.

This walkthrough was written with the intention of being in my opinion the most complete walkthrough for this game available. Some of the information may be found by some people to be completely irrelevant, BUT let me just say that if you do follow this walkthrough from start to finish you will not only complete the game 100%, but you will know of every single last secret that the land of Hyrule has to offer.

If you notice some information in this walkthrough that you think is incorrect, feel free to contact the author about the matter via the email address at the bottom of the page. If you have some interesting new or additional information you think could be added to this walkthrough to make it more complete, please do send it. I’m currently looking for any text I may have missed along the way or maybe misspelled, game-shark codes for the Nintendo 64 version, and any secrets, tips, glitches and cheats you may have found. If your information is of value to the author it will be added and your name or nickname will be added to the Contributors section at the bottom of the walkthrough if you wish.

Summary of Hyrule.

Although the story starts out in Kokiri Forest, the land of Hyrule is a huge place well worth exploring to the fullest. Here’s a list and a quick summary of each of Hyrules regions

 Kokiri Forest- Link grew up in this forest. It is a small green town with ponds of water and contains only a few houses and a shop. Its people the Kokiri, never leave the forest which for some reason makes them never grow up. They wear green garments and some even have green hair. The Great Deku Tree watches over this forest and its people. The Lost Woods and The Sacred Forest Meadow can also be found in Kokiri Forest.

 Hyrule Field- This Massive field holds many secrets, and all of Hyrule different major locations can be reached from this field, it connects all the towns together.

 Hyrule Town Market- You will find many useful shops and fun games in the market; you can find a full list in the Hyrule Town Market section of the Walkthrough. You can also reach Hyrule castle from here.

 Lon Lon Ranch- A small Ranch run by Talon & Malon.

 Kakariko Village- This place is a small quite town. But is quite an important place with a lot to do, you will come here many, many times in your journey. The path to Death Mountain can only be reached from this town. You can also visit the Graveyard

 Death Mountain- Death Mountain is a massive active Volcano. You will visit it many times on your journey. You can reach Dodongo’s Cavern, Death Mountain Crater, and the Goron Village from various parts of this Mountain.

 Goron Village- The Goron People have carved their town out inside the mountain. It contains levels connected by staircases. You can also reach the Death Mountain Crater here later on in the game.

 Zora’s River- This River is the source of all of Hyrules water. It is also quite a long path; follow it to reach Zora’s Domain. You can also find the magic bean seller sitting next to a fence here.

 Zora’s Domain- the Zora people live in massive cave with a waterfall that fills up the place with water for them to live in. Zoras Domain doesn’t contain any houses, but it does have a shop. You can find the Zora’s swimming or floating in the water. You can reach Lord Jabu Jabu from the kings Chamber found at the top of the stairs.

 Lake Hylia- A huge Lake that contains a few very important locations in the game. You can also do some fishing here for 20 rupees each time you go.

 Gerudo Valley- the Gerudo People are a race of female thieves who live in this desert, they are run by the evil king Ganondorf. You can also reach the Baron Wasteland from here.

KOKIRI FOREST.

Opening Cut scene-

Great Deku Tree:
Navi... Navi, where art thou? Come hither....
Oh, Navi the fairy...
Listen to my words, the words of the Deku tree

Dost thou sense it?
The climate of evil descending upon this realm...
Malevolent forces even now are mustering to attack our land of hyrule...
For so long, the kokiri forest, the source of life, has stood as a barrier, deterring outsiders and maintaining the order of the world...
But before this tremendous evil power, even my power is as nothing...
It seems the time has come for the boy without a fairy to begin his journey...
The youth whose destiny it is to lead Hyrule to the path of justice and truth...
Navi... go now! Find our young friend and guide him to me...

I do not have much time left.
Fly, Navi, fly! The fate of the forest, nay, the world, depends upon thee!

Cut scene- Navi fly’s around the forest greeting other kokiri before bumping into the fence before links house.

Navi:
Hello, Link!
Wake up!
The Great Deku Tree wants to talk to you!
Link, get up!
Hey! C'mon!
Can Hyrules destiny really depend on such a lazy boy? (Link gets up finally and yawns)
You finally woke up! I'm Navi the fairy!
The great Deku tree asked me to be your partner from now on! Nice to meet you!
The great Deku tree has summoned you! So let’s get going, right now!
(Link nods and you’re put into play)

To begin lets run out the house through the door directly opposite your bed

Small cut scene of a girl with green hair running towards you. Her name is Saria you will learn more about her later. She greets you
"Yahoo! Hi, Link!"

Approach the ladder and climb down you can drop straight down with A or climb down slowly
Navi had tried talking to me by the time I got to the bottom so press C-up to hear what she has to say...
"The Great Deku Tree has summoned you! Please come with me"

Talk to Saria:
"Wow a fairy!
Finally, a fairy came to you Link!
Wow that’s great news! I'm so happy for you
Now you’re a true kokiri Link!
Is that right? The great Deku tree has summoned you?
It’s quite an honor to talk to the great Deku tree!
I’ll wait for you here. Get going! Go see the Great Deku Tree!"

Run up the path way and turn to your right, follow the dirt path along until you see a hole in the wall off in the distance. Jump across the water to the next platform and again to the next piece of land. You should see a small guy blocking the way with his hands on his hips. His name is Mido; he’s the leader of the kokiri people. Talk to him

Mido:
"Hey, you! Mr. no fairy!
Whets your business with the great Deku tree?
Without a fairy you’re not even a real man!
What?! You’ve got a fairy?!
Say what? The great Deku tree actually summoned you?
Whaaaaaaat?!
Why would he summon you and not the great Mido?
This isn’t funny...
I don’t believe it!
You aren't even fully equipped yet!
How do you think you're going to help the great Deku tree without both a sword and shield ready?
What? Your right. I don't have my equipment ready, but...
If you want to pass through here you should at least equip a sword and shield!
Sheesh!"

GETTING THE SWORD AND SHEILD.

Head back towards your house following the dirt path and head for the nearby hill. Go up the hill and find your way through the small fences. You should see a small hole in the wall, approach it and press A. press forward on your joystick to crawl through the hole. When you come out you will see there are two ways that you can go, too the right is simply a dead end with a blue rupee which is 5 rupees! Were going to need that for our shield. Now head to the other side and you should see a boulder rolling around a dirt path wait for the boulder to pass you and follow it around the dirt path in a counter clockwise direction same as the boulder, you should pick up a couple of green rupees as you run and coming up on the right is a small alcove to run into for safety you should see a sign with a treasure chest next to it. Walk up to the chest and press A to open it. A golden glow should pop out of the chest and Link will raise his new weapon up over his head! The kokiri sword

A box will come up with
"You got the kokiri sword!
On the equipment sub screen,
Select it with the cursor and equip it with A

This is a hidden treasure of
The kokiri, but you can borrow it
For a while. Be sure to practice
With it before you really fight"

Equip your sword via the start menu. Wait for the boulder to come back around and follow it again to get back to the hole you came in from. Crawl through it back into the forest. When you get back out run towards the fence and cut some of the bushes using the B button. I didn’t get much from these bushes but some gave green rupees. I had 9 rupees by this point. Follow the dirt path back down and look towards your right; you should see a building with a red trim along the roof. Just before this building is three platforms over water jump across these platforms without falling off to get a blue rupee were at 14 now. When you get across take a quick look at the building this is the kokiri forest shop were will be buying our shield from but we need more rupees yet! Head right again to see a small boy trying to pull out a bush chop the bushes next to him for more rupees. I got two more rupees from these bushes. Now run up the windy path next to his house and carefully follow the thin pathway to collect 5 more rupees. This may seem difficult to begin with but it’s a good test to learn the controls of this game. Head back towards your house to the small field of waist high grass there are always rupees hidden in here! Run around in circles to add to your collection. There is another patch like this near where we jumped across the platforms for the blue rupee. My total was 25 at this point. Feel free to explore the forest for yourself and the insides of some houses the kokiri won’t mind. Read the signs outside the houses to know who they belong to. I found a blue and green rupee in the "House of the twins" and as you come out you can jump the platforms directly in front of you for 5 more rupees then the platforms we did earlier for five more again which brings the total to 41.

Navi may be bugging you to get to see the Deku tree at this point so we must hurry. Head back to the building with the red trim on the roof and go try to enter. you will automatically be stopped by a girl on the roof and taught how to L-target to speak to people far away, this may seem annoying but the L target feature is one of the most important buttons in the game it allows you to lock on to talk to people but better yet target most enemies to keep them in your line of sight. Navi will give information on these enemies when they are L-targeted followed by C-up. Go into the shop, walk up to the counter and purchase a Deku shield. Select the Deku shield via the start screen and practice using it with R. Head back to where Mido is and talk to him

Mido:
"If you want to see the great Deku tree,
You should at least equip a sword and shield!
Eh, what's that?!
Oh you have a Deku shield...
And whets THAT?!
Is that the kokiri sword?!
GOOD GRIEF!!
Well, even with all that stuff, a wimp is still a wimp huh?
I the great Mido will never accept you as one of us!
Shoot! How did you get to be the favorite of Saria and the Great Deku Tree? Huh? Grumble..."
(He walks out of the way)

You may want to save the game for the first time if you haven’t done so already. It’s important in case your game messes up for some reason, hey it happens! Ill just mention while were on the topic of saving your game that for this part of the game any time that you save and turn the game off you will start your game the next time you turn it on inside Links house in kokiri forest. I will say that later on in the game (without spoiling too much) you will start from the temple of time every time you turn your game off.

Run through and kill the Deku baba if you wish but you can easily avoid them. As you approach you will automatically run up to the great Deku tree.

Cut scene-

Navi:
"Great Deku tree I’m back!"

Great Deku tree:
"Oh... Navi...
Thou hast returned
Link... Welcome
Listen carefully to what I, the great Deku tree am about to tell thee...
Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless, and full of nightmares...
As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and cause nightmares to those sensitive to it...
Verily, thou hast felt it...
Link... The time has come to test thy courage...
I have been cursed
I need you to break the curse with your wisdom and courage.
Dost thou have courage enough to undertake this task?
(Select yes) (The great Deku tree opens his mouth)
Then enter, brave Link, and thou too Navi...
Navi the fairy thou must aid Link."

Run into the Great Deku trees mouth.

DUNGEON ONE: THE GREAT DEKU TREE.

Dungeon difficulty- easy [1]

Main Objectives-
 Make your way around the various rooms on floor 1 and claim the “Fairy Slingshot”
 Make your way around the various rooms on floors 2 and 3, ridding the Great Deku Tree of the monsters inside of him.
 Drop to Basement levels 1 and 2
 Learn the proper order in which to punish the Deku scrub “brothers”.
 Fight boss Queen Gohma

Summary- The Great Deku Tree is an ancient wise tree spirit, that watches over the forest and its people, the Kokiri’s. but lately the forest and the Great Deku Tree himself have been full of monsters. Inside him contains the first dungeon in the game, you will meet many common enemy’s that you will see often in this game early on in this dungeon, try to take down every monster you see, not only will they attack you if you don’t, but at this point the more monsters you battle the better you will get at controlling Link and the various weapons you will find across the Land of Hyrule.

I enjoy this beating this dungeon very much, because you can breeze through it. Nothing in here should hold you up to much, and even a beginner should be able to beat this dungeon in under half an hour.

Time taken author to complete- 14 minutes

Floor 1

 As you enter it will show a small cut scene of around the Deku tree, take the ladder they show you. When you reach the top head to your right and follow the path around till you must jump across to a log. Do so and keep going. Cut the bushes if you need too and keep following the path.
 Navi will tell you that you can climb the wall were the vines are. Don’t worry about that for now. Open up the chest for the dungeon map this lets you see the floors and layout of the dungeon it’s important you get this.
 Keep following the path and jump across the hole in the floor until you reach a door go inside a take out the Deku scrub by holding your shield and letting his Deku nuts bounce back at him! Once he’s taken care of take the next door.
 Jump across the platform and climb up the vines on either side to claim a new weapon the "fairy slingshot" this can be set to a C- button. Shoot the ladder you can see hanging above your way out. Also to the left of were you get the slingshot you can climb to a small alcove to claim a heart.
 Follow the doors back to the main room and head back down the path to be Navi told you that you can climb earlier. Shoot the three sultanas and climb up to the next level. I like to go to the right side of the vines.

Floor 2 and 3

 As you get off the vines there is a skulltula which can be killed by waiting for him to turn around and slashing his "soft side" with your shoe or slingshot. Go into the door further along the path.
 Push the switch as you enter and quickly jump straight forward both times till you reach the chest on the other side. This chest contains the "Compass" which is also important when locating places inside this dungeon. Chop the Deku baba to the right to claim some "Deku sticks" which are quite useful in this dungeon. They can be set to a C button and used as weapons and more importantly to set things on fire. To do this simply takes out a stick and walk up to a lit torch walk through it with the stick to set it on fire!! Shoot the skulltula hanging on the wall with the slingshot. Jump down and run to the other side, hit the switch again but this time jump towards the left side alcove to claim your first gold skulltula and a heart from the chest.
 I will quickly explain gold skulltula for you now, they are small skulltula hidden through out the game and in dungeons, you will learn the meaning for collecting them later in the game but you should get them all. And why not grab this one when it’s so easy?
 Jump down and climb back to be the switch is and pull out your dekustick. Using the method I described earlier catch your stick on fire and light the opposite torch to open the way back out.
 As you come out kill the first skulltula you see then jump off the side. Just make sure you’re aimed at the centre of the room. What were trying to do here is hit the hole in the ground covered with webs we saw as we first walked in.

Basement 1 and 2

 You’ll land in some water down the bottom. Get on some land and look for the gold skulltula right near were you dropped, shoot it and climb up to claim it’s token. Climb up to where the switch is and jump on it activating the torch nearby. You can open the chest next it to claim a heart if needed. Pull a dekustick out and light it on fire, quickly run across to the other piece of land and set the webs on fire. You’ll notice that there are only some parts of the water you can walk in with the dekustick.
 Once you’ve burned the webs take the door and kill the scrub just like you did before. He'll tell you to punish his brothers in the right order remember these numbers as it will be important for the parts coming up. (2-3-1). shoot the eye above door and continue.
 Welcome to your first puzzle room this is an easy one but believe me they do get very hard... dive down in the water and hit the switch, quickly run back to land and get on the moving platform let yourself pass the spinning spikes and jump to the next side as it approaches. Kill the skulltula and push the block to the right till it falls into place. Climb up the block and head through the door.
 In this room you will see three torches one lit and two unlit. Simple, take out a dekustick and light the unlit torches to open the door.
 In the next room it’s pretty much the same accept you have two choices to light, set the right hole on fire and easily dispose of the web. Crawl through the hole.
 Now you’re back in the room where we started when we first dropped down here. What you need to do is push the block off the side into the water to create a path back up and run across to where the lit torch is. Light your Deku stick and quickly jump back up to where you just pushed the block off and hit the webs on the hole in the floor with the lit dekustick. This will drop you down to the final level.
 Get out of the water and you will see three Deku scrubs, hit them in the order their brother told you (2-3-1) they turn blue and freeze when you hit them, but you will have to chase the last one down. the little scrub gets irritated and eventually tells you about queen Gohma, after telling you how to defeat her he will run off leaving a lone heart for you before the battle. The door opens up; get ready for your first boss!

BOSS: PARASITIC ARMORED ARACHNID- Queen Gohma

When you have entered the bosses chamber, you will find yourself in a large strange room with an eerie rustling sound echoing through the place.

To start the battle press C-up and look at the roof right in the middle of the room, you should see Gohma’s eye. She will drop down and attack. My strategy is just to L-target her the entire time and try not to let her drop eggs, as they will cause you some minor problems. You must have your sling shot equip to win this battle.
Shoot her in the eye when it turns red to stun her and run in and slash away with your sword, for best results L target and do a jump attack with your sword with the A button. Do this straight to the eye followed by slashing with B. it will do major damage and kill this boss very quickly. it seriously takes less then 30 seconds maybe even 15 to beat this boss once you know how to. I only had to shoot and slash her once on the floor then once on the roof this time around. remember after everytime you slash at her she will climb to the roof and try to lay eggs, keep L-targeting her and line up her eye because it will be changing to red while she’s laying eggs. If they hatch run around and kill the hatchlings. When you have beaten her remember to pick up the heart container to upgrade your life and step into the blue light to exit the Great Deku Tree.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______________________________________

*side note*
Heart containers are gained after beating the boss of every dungeon. They will not only restore your health completely after the battle but upgrade your health by adding another heart each time. Heart pieces are similar but slightly different, they are basically heart containers divided into quarters which can be found by helping people throughout the game or completing various tasks that are given to you. They’re also hidden in many places through out Hyrule which you will have to look hard to find. In other words you must find four heart pieces to complete another heart container to upgrade your health or beat the boss of every temple!

Great Deku tree:
"Well done link...
Thou hast verily demonstrated thy courage...
I knew that thou wouldst be able to carry out my wishes...
Now I have yet more to tell ye wouldst thou listen? (Say yes)
Now listen carefully a wicked man of the desert cast this dreaded curse upon me...
This evil man ceaselessly uses his vile, sorcerous powers in his search for the sacred realm that is connected to hyrule...
For it is in that sacred realm that one will find the divine relic, the Triforce, which contains the essence of the gods...

Cut scene- The great Deku tree explains about the Triforce and the three goddesses

Great Deku Tree:
"Thou must never allow the desert man in black armor to lay his hands on the sacred Triforce...
Thou must never suffer that man, with his evil heart, to enter the sacred realm of legend
That evil man who cast the death curse upon me and sapped my power...
Because of that curse, my end is nigh...
Though your valiant efforts to break the curse were successful, I was doomed before you started...
Yes I will pass away soon, but do not grieve for me...
I have been able to tell you of these important matters
This is Hyrules final hope...
Link, go now to hyrule castle!
There thou will surely meet the princess of destiny
Take this stone with you. The stone that man wanted so much, that he cast the curse upon me...
(Link receives the Kokiri's Emerald)
The future depends on thee, Link, Thou art courageous.
Navi, the fairy help link to carry out my will.
I entreat ye... Navi... Good... Bye..."
(Great Deku tree dies)

Navi:
Let's go to hyrule castle. Link!!

You’re back in control so start heading out of the Great Deku Trees meadow but then Mido stops you!!

Mido:
Hey Link, what did you do?!
The great Deku tree... did he. Die??
How could you do a thing like that?! It’s all you fault!!

Ok now start running towards your house and the hill where you got the sword but go straight past it. And you'll see a tunnel. Go up and talk to the kokiri boy next to it and you'll find out that all kokiri will die if they leave they forest, then he asks if you are going to leave the forest? Of course we are walk through the tunnel and onto one of my favorite parts of the game

Saria:
"Oh, you're leaving...
I knew... that you would leave the forest someday, Link...
Because you are different from me and my friends...
But that’s ok, because we'll be friends forever... won't we?
I want you to have this ocarina... Please take good care of it."

You received the Fairy Ocarina!
This is memento from Saria
Set it to C and use C to start playing it! ~

Saria:
"When you play my ocarina. I hope you will think of me and come back to the forest to visit."
(Link backs away and runs off to start his quest)

================================================== ================================================== ======================

HYRULE FIELD.

Run around the corner from the forest bridge where you come out to be greeted by one of the more annoying characters in the game. The owl! He is a character I have hated for the better part of the ten years I have been playing this game, but I will type his text out now just so the story line is all here...

Owl:
It appears that the time has finally come for you to start your adventure!
You will encounter many hardships ahead... that are your fate. Don't feel discouraged, even during the toughest times!
Go straight this way and you will see Hyrule castle.
You will meet a princess there.
If you are lost and don’t know which way to go, Look at the map
The areas you have explored will be shown on the map. Press START to enter the sub screens and L or R to find the map.
On the map sub screen, you will also see a flashing dot showing you which way to go next
Did you get all that? (Press yes for god’s sake!)
All right then, I'll see you around! Hoot hoot hoot ho!

Okay now run straight till you find a dirt path and follow it. Just over the hill you should see the castle draw bridge. That’s where you must go! You might make it there with daylight left if you don’t muck around, but if it turns to night before you make it you may have to battle with some skeletal warriors. If you don’t want to fight them jump in the water under the draw bridge then climb out at daybreak. When night turns day wait for the drawbridge to lower itself then walk through to Hyrule Town Market. Take your time and explore the area if you wish. There are some games to be played, people to talk to and back alleys to explore if you wish. But we will go into detail about doing those things later in the walkthrough. (Check the Hyrule Town Market section)
Run all the way around to the other side from where you came in and go through to reach the path to Hyrule castle!

HYRULE CASTLE.

Run a short way up the path to be confronted by the owl again

Owl:
The princess is on these here grounds, just be careful not to get caught by the guards...
On this ground time flows normally.
But time stands still while you are in Lon Lon Ranch or in a town.
If you want time to pass normally, you'll need to leave town.
Well, well, which way are you going to go now?
Hoo hoo hoot!!

To the left is a tree run at the tree and press A to roll into it and knock a Gold skulltula! Slash it with your sword and collect its token.

you should see some vines on the wall, if you haven’t figured it out already, climb up the vines and follow the path down and either drop into the hole (recommended) or jump down and try to land where the guards wont see you. As you come out of the door or you may not have go as far right as you can till you see guards to the pathway to the left. Head straight up the hill slowly and you should see a tree with another guard next to it. Head in between this guard and the two on the other side, you should have no problem sneaking through. a dirt path will come up shortly follow it down but DO NOT go up the steps when you reach them, instead there is a wall that has patches of bricks on it to the left, you can climb up these then jump down and into the water to safety. You should get 4 or 5 rupees from floating down the stream of water. Half way down the stream you'll see some dirt that will help you get out. Follow the path to the left till you see a fat guy asleep, talk to him then let yourself get caught by the guards around the corner. Go back to the vines were you climbed to get in and a girl with red hair should be stand there, her name is malon

Malon:
"Hey, your clothes! They're different...
You’re not from around here are you?
..........
Ohh you’re a fairy boy from the forest!
My name is Malon!
My dad owns Lon Lon Ranch!
Dad went to the castle to deliver some milk,
And he hasn’t come back yet"

(Talk to her again)

"Are you going to the castle fairy boy?
Would you mind finding my dad?
He must have fallen asleep
Somewhere around the castle. What a thing
For an adult to do!! Tee hee!
Oh yeah, if you look for him, I'll give this to you.
I’ve been incubating this egg very carefully...
Tee hee!"

She gives you a weird egg, set it to C and climb back up the vines and retrace your steps back to the fat guy. By the time you get back to him it should be close to the next morning and if it’s not just wait it won’t take long and your egg will hatch into a cucco. Use it to wake him up

Talon:
What in tar nation?
Can't a person get a little shuteye around here?
Hello, and who might you be?
Yep, I’m Talon, the owner or Lon Lon Ranch
I went to the castle to deliver some milk, but I sat down
Her to rest, and I guess I fell asleep...
What?!
Malon was looking for me?
I’m gonna catch it from her now!
I messed up bad, leaving Malon behind to wait for me!
She's really gonna let me have it
(With that said he runs off quickly)

Now grab the boxes with the cow print on them on move around till you can get up to the ledge with the hole that you can see. Keep in mind it has to be daytime for you to proceed.

HYRULE COURTYARD.

Alright this part can be difficult for beginners so take it slow so you don’t make mistakes and have to start again. Walk to the left of where you come out of the hole till you reach a hedge hide behind the hedge and wait for the guard to be in a position where you can run past without being in his line of sight. Same with the next one accept there are two guards, you may have to wait a couple minutes for them to be in the right spot or they may be in the right spot as your still running from the first one. the third guard has two ways to get past him you can go for the rupees if you dare and just dodge him how we did the last two, or you can climb the stairs and carefully work your way past him, but if you fall from here your likely to get caught from my experience. I usually leave the rupees and just run past him. The fourth section is fairly easy accept you need to be a little more daring and follow one of the guards closely behind to avoid being seen by the next one. The fifth and final section of the court yard is simple both guards walk close together mostly and these ones seem to walk a little quicker then the rest. Stay to the left and just let them go around, it should be easy. Follow the white path to the left where you will meet Zelda! If you’re like me and love the music and feeling of this game take your time in this little section and look through the windows and enjoy! It doesn’t get much better then this! When you’re done having a looking around goes up and talks to Zelda.

Zelda:
“Who?!
Who are you?
How did you get past all the guards?
Oh? What’s that?
Is that... a fairy?!
Then are you... are you from the forest?
Then... then... you wouldn’t happen to have the spiritual stone of the forest
Would you?! That green and shining stone
Do you have it? (Pick yes)
Just as I thought!
I had a dream, in the dream dark storm clouds were billowing over the land of hyrule
But suddenly a ray of light shot out of the forest,
Parted the clouds and lit up the ground
The light turned into a figure hold a green and shining stone
Followed by a fairy...
I know this is a prophecy that someone would come from the forest...
Yes, I thought you might be the one
Oh, I’m sorry!
I got carried away with my story and didn't even properly introduce myself!
I am Zelda, princess of Hyrule.
What is your name? ..... Link?
Strange it sounds somehow familiar...
OK then, Link
I’m going to tell you the secret of the sacred realm that has been passed down by the royal Family of hyrule.
Please keep this a secret from everyone (pick OK)
The legend goes like this...”

Cut scene- this cut scene finishes the story for you about ganondorf, the Triforce and goddesses and also explains about the temple of time!

Zelda:
“That’s right... The temple of time is the entrance through which you can enter the sacred realm from our world
But the entrance is sealed with a stone wall called the Door of Time
And, in order to open the door, it is said that you need to collect three spiritual stones.
And another thing you need... is the treasure that the Royal Family keeps along with this legend...
The Ocarina of Time!”

She will then ask you to have a look through the window and you will see ganondorf the leader of the gerudos. Remember his face we will be seeing him later on in the game. She then explains how he is after the Triforce and to conquer hyrule. She decides that you two will have to put a stop to this. She then gives you "Zelda's letter". This letter will help you to show your connection to the royal family. After all someone might not believe you!

After she is done talking to you, have a look at the other windows, the one on the right has photos of random Mario characters, shoot the photos with your slingshot for a red rupee worth 20 rupees! Or shoot the vase in the other window to have a guard throw a bomb at you, not beneficial but fun! Head back towards the courtyard and you'll see Impa standing there she is one of the sheikah people and is responsible for protecting princess Zelda. Talk to her and she will teach you "Zelda's lullaby" an ancient melody passed down through the royal family, Impa played this for Zelda as a baby. There is mysterious power in the notes of this song. Learn this song by heart if you can because we will be playing it a lot through out the game

*ZELDA'S LULLABY*
C-LEFT C-UP C-RIGHT C- LEFT C-UP C-RIGHT

If you have 80 rupees spare that you don’t mind spending you should drop into the bazaar in the Hyrule market and buy a “Hylian shield”. To get there run right from the entrance and look for the building with a bearded man on the sign and two boxes out the front. This shield is too big for you to wear and use normally but in the next dungeon there are enemies which can burn your Deku shield too nothing. I like to have this shield to use in those situations. You get one for free later in the game so don’t worry about it too much if you think you can do it with just the Deku shield.

If you want some extra rupees on the way out head into the door on the left side in the alley way were the draw bridge is. There are tones of pots to smash in here to practice your sword skills and make some rupees. Also another secret once you get outside is to climb the chains on the drawbridge carefully till you reach the top then jump into the middle off the two chains. You should hit the ground and get a red rupee.

Now before we head off to Death Mountain where the second spiritual stone is Look for the small circle in the middle of your map (bottom right hand corner of your screen) and head for it. This is Lon Lon ranch, home of Talon and Malon who you helped before. If your having trouble finding it go to the drawbridge outside hyrule town market and face straight out towards the field, you will see Lon Lon ranch off in the distance. Make sure you have at least 20-40 rupees as we will need them to play the super-cucco game coming up at the ranch.

LON LON RANCH.

Lon Lon ranch is a small farm run by Malon and Talon. You will also at some point meet the farmhand whose name is Ingo. You should have a good look around this farm. There is gold skulltula’s to be found, a heart piece, and cows that will give you milk that restores your life.

As you enter go to your left around the corner and smash the pots to the right for some hearts and rupees if you need them. There are a few things you need to do here, you can do these in whatever order you like… first off go into the door left of where you first came in. The door on the right doesn’t contain much more then a barn full of animals at this point.

As you enter the door you should see the same man (Talon) you helped earlier, asleep again surrounded by cucco’s. Talk to him and hell ask you to play a game, in which you must pick the three “super cucco’s” from the rest of the regular cucco’s. If you really want to pick them for yourself walk straight up and talk to him, if this sounds too hard for you the easy way is to pick up all of the chickens before you talk to him and throw them in between the table and the stairs, he will then throw his cucco’s out into the empty room and you can easily pick them. He’ll give you thirty seconds to do this and it should be easy either way you chose to do it. He will reward you with a bottle of “Lon Lon milk” which isn’t that important but the empty bottle will come in useful after you drink the milk, it will recover 5 hearts per drink and there are two drinks per bottle. He also tells you after you finish the bottle come back for a refill anytime you want! Head out the door and to the left, you should be in a large paddock with horses running around inside head inside the gate and talk to Malon whose standing in the middle of the field Go up and talk to her.

Malon:
“Oh it’s the fairy boy again!
I heard that you found my dad! How did you like the castle?
Did you see the princess? Hee hee!
Dad came in a hurry after you found him. Hee hee!
Oh yeah, I have to introduce you to my friend, fairy boy!
She’s this horse. Her name is Epona. Isn’t she cute?”

Talk to her again

“It seems like Epona is afraid of you, fairy boy…”

Talk to her again

“My mother composed this song. Isn’t it nice? Let’s sing together.”

Take out your fairy ocarina in front of her.

“Oh, cute ocarina! Are you going to play this song with that ocarina?”

*EPONA’S SONG*
C-UP C-LEFT C-RIGHT C-UP C-LEFT C-RIGHT

Alright now head out the gate you came in and go around the back of the field. You should see a stone building with a door, go inside. When you get inside you will see a bunch of cows and boxes. Move the boxes around until you can reach the hole that they cover in the corner of the room. There’s no real strategy to this just move them until you can get to it. Crawl through the hole and claim the heart piece and crawl back out. That pretty much wraps up Lon Lon ranch, so if you wish have a look around and explore the ranch. We will be coming back here much later in the game. Once your done exit the ranch and head back to kokiri forest.

*Side note*
You can play epona’s song in front of the cows in Lon Lon ranch to get a bottle full of free milk!

*Side note*
You may be wondering why Epona’s Song is important and why you should bother getting it at this stage, as it doesn’t do anything for you in this part of the game. After you have collected all three spiritual stones and visited the Temple of Time, you will find out the use of this very important song.

THE LOST WOODS.

As you enter kokiri forest take the ledge to the left and then climb up the vines. Go to the left and you should see a tunnel with a small sign next to it saying The Lost Woods, enter here.

You will see three tunnels to choose from, now if you would like to choose for yourself skip this section and listen to each tunnel to see where the music gets louder from.

 From the start go right, you should see a target hanging from a tree straight ahead. Shoot the target three times with a score of 100 points each time to upgrade your Deku seeds bullet bag for your slingshot you can now hold up to forty from where you came out take the left tunnel
 You should see a stone tunnel directly ahead and two normal tunnels approach the right tunnel to be stopped by the owl, once he’s done talking continue into the right tunnel

Owl:
Dave… Good to see you again! Listen to this! Hoot hoot….
After going through the Lost Woods, you will come upon the Sacred Forest Meadow
That is a sacred place where few people have ever walked.
Shhhh… What’s that? I can hear a mysterious tune…
You should listen for that tune Too... Hoo hoo ho!
Do you want to hear what I said again? (Pick no)
If you are courageous, you will make it through the forest just fine…
Just follow your ears and listen to the sounds coming from the forest! Hoot hoot!
(Owl fly’s away)

 You should see two tunnels each side and a pool of water in front. Take the tunnel to the left and continue.
 You should see three tunnels, go straight.
 Three tunnels again with a boulder, take the left tunnel
 Three tunnels again, boulder again take the right tunnel through to Sacred Forest Meadow

You should see a small field with a large iron gate, move closer toward it and a “Wolfos” will pop up, Navi offers this strategy to kill the Wolfos…

Navi:
Draw it close to you and watch its movement carefully! Attack it when it drops its guard!

The only strategies I can offer is to L target the whole time and wait for it to take a swing at you. 3 or 4 hits with the sword shoot kill it and unlock the gate

In this part of the sacred forest meadow, Deku scrubs will be shooting at you from around each corner, you will have to deflect there Deku nuts back at them then run up quickly and slash them with your sword.

 Run forward and head to the right, stop at the corner and use L target to see around the corner. Aim the Deku scrub up and kill him.
 Continue left along the path, there will be another scrub at the end. There are small alcoves to duck into if you do not wish to get shot.
 Continue along the path to the right, then right again, about half way down there is a gap in the wall for you too walk through, then go right. There’s another scrub just around the corner.
 Continue left along the path, till you come to a body of water. Jump in the water and then get back up on the left.
 Go right when you find the gap in the wall and head up the stairs
 There are two Deku scrubs here, take care of them then continue up more stairs to meet Saria

Cut scene- Saria teaches you “Saria’s song” so that you two can communicate long distances

Saria:
“I’ve been waiting for you, Link!
This is the Sacred Forest Meadow. It’s my secret place! I feel
This place will be very important for both of us someday.
That what I feel.
If you play the Ocarina here. You can talk with the spirits in the forest.
Would you like to play the Ocarina with me? (Pick Yes)
OK, try to follow along with the melody I will play. Are you ready?

*SARIA’S SONG*
C-DOWN C-RIGHT C-LEFT C-DOWN C-RIGHT C-LEFT

Great! Great!
Please don’t forget this song! Do you promise?
When you want to hear my voice. Play Saria’s song. You can talk with me anytime….”

Ok where done here so head back down the stairs and climb the ladder, now before you go running out take note of the hole in the ground in the next section after you climb the ladder, you can jump down here and grab a fairy for your bottle if its empty. Jump across all the way till you get back to the tunnel and exit the sacred forest meadow. As you leave the Owl will automatically talk to you.

Owl:
Did you learn an Ocarina song from Saria?
That melody seems to have some mysterious power.
There may be some other mysterious songs like this that you can learn in Hyrule.
If you hold the Ocarina with C where a melody is necessary, a musical staff will appear.
I recommend that you play a song you know.
I also suggest that you play even when a score is not displayed, just like this:
Hoo Hoo hoot hoot hoot!
Do you want to hear what I said again? (Pick no)
Melodies you have learned will be recorded on the Quest Status Sub screen. You should memorize those melodies.
(Owl fly’s away)

Leave The Lost Woods and head for the tunnel that leads back out to hyrule field.

*Side note*
Fairies can be caught in your bottles and kept for as long as you like. If you release one of them it will completely restore your life, and if you die while you have a fairy in a bottle it will revive you and completely restore your health. It’s always good to keep a few when you go into the dungeons and temples.

================================================== ================================================== ======================

KAKARIKO VILLAGE & DEATH MOUNTAIN TRAIL

Okay so as you come out into Hyrule field follow the same dirt path to the castle, but this time as we come up the hill look to your right, you should see a mountain with a ring of smoke around it. Keep going down the dirt path till you find the bridge that lets you cross to the right there should be stairs that lead up to the village.

Ill explain more about the village later but head straight till you see some stairs on the left and go up them. Go up the next 2 flights of stairs as well and there should be a guard standing in front of a gate blocking your way. At this point Navi was bugging me so open her up with C-up

Navi:
Impa said that the Spiritual Stone of Fire is somewhere on Death Mountain.

Equip Zelda’s letter to a C button via the Item sub screen and show it to the guard.

Guard:
Oh, this is…
This is surely Princess Zelda’s handwriting! Well, let’s see…. Hmmm… OK…
“This is Link… He is under my orders to save Hyrule”
Wah ha ha ha hah!
What kind of funny game has our Princess come up with now?!
OK, OK, all right. You can go now… Just be careful, Mr. Hero!
Wah hah ha ha hah!
(He taps and the gate opens up)

He tells us also that we should equip a proper shield; it is an active volcano after all! But you should have already taken care of that by buying the “Hylian shield” at the Hyrule town market Bazaar. He also asks you to go to the happy mask shop for him. I will go into more detail about that later but if you wish go to the mask shop in Hyrule town market and get the “Keaton Mask” and bring it back to him. Continue through the gate to the death mountain trail.

Run up the hill and take care of the Red Tektites. There are four all up. When you reach the corner you should see a rock blocking the way through with a rock looking man laying down next to it, this is one of the Goron people, and the place behind the boulder is called “Dodongo’s Cavern” it’s where the next dungeon is, but we can get in there just yet! Turn around and keep heading up the hill. When you get around the corner head to the right off the red flag and continue down the path. Watch out coming down here though because there is a rolling Goron that will take you out and possibly knock you off the side. You should see a big stone tunnel with a sign out the front saying:

Land of the Goron’s, Goron City

Head inside the tunnel, Welcome to Goron City!

GORON CITY.

Okay feel free to explore the entire city if you wish but to continue your quest, drop down to the bottom floor and you’ll see a door with a white-ish rug outside, stand on the rug and play “Zelda’s Lullaby” the door will open up, go inside. Inside here is Darunia, the leader of the Goron’s, talk to him.

Darunia:
What the heck! Who are you?!
When I heard the song of the Royal Family, I expected their messenger had arrived
But… you’re just a little kid!
Has Darunia, the big boss of the Goron’s, really lost so much status to be treated like this by his sworn brother, the King?
Now, I’m REALLY angry! Get out of my face, now!
Are you asking why I’m in such a bad mood right now?
Ancient creatures have infested the Dodongo’s Cavern!
We’ve had a poor harvest of our special crop, Bomb flowers!
Starvation and hunger because of the rock shortage!
But…
This is a Goron problem!
We don’t need any help from strangers!

Play Saria’s song in front of him and he will dance around for a while, he seems to really like this song. After a minute or so of dancing he will say:

Heeey!! What a nice tune!
Just like that, my depression is all gone!
Something just came over me! I suddenly wanted to dance like crazy!
I am Darunia!
I’m the big boss of the Goron’s!
Was there something you wanted to ask me about?
What?
You want the Spiritual Stone of Fire, too?
The spiritual stone of fire, also known as the Goron’s Ruby, is our race’s hidden treasure…
But hold on – I’m not going to give it to you that easily.
If you want it so badly…
Why don’t you go destroy the monsters inside of the Dodongo’s Cavern and prove you’re a real man?
That way, everybody will be happy again! If you do it, I will give you anything you want, even the spiritual stone!
I have something for you. I’m not really giving you this in return for anything, but take it anyway.
If you wear this, even a little fella like you can pick a Bomb Flower using the A button.

He gives you the Goron’s bracelet, with this you can pull up the bomb flowers you see around the city and on Death Mountain. Now head out of this room and head for the stairs leading up take the stairs and when you come out on the next floor go to the left to find the next bunch. Go up the stairs till you hit a fork and take the right turn. You should now be on the top level where you came in, go straight and take the first right back out of here.
Head straight and to the right you should see a small a bomb flower with a Goron sitting next to it. What you want to do is grab the bomb flower and throw it straight over the cliff down to where the boulder was blocking the entrance earlier. It may take a few tries but you’ll get it, the camera angle should change when you throw it making it easier to line the boulder up. Either jump straight down the cliff or make your way back down the mountain and enter the Cavern.

DUNGEON TWO: DODONGO’S CAVERN.

Dungeon difficulty- easy [2]

Summary- The Dodongo’s Cavern is an ancient place where the Goron race harvests what they call their “special crop” (bomb flowers). The cave-like lava filled dungeon contains many dragon like creatures called Dodongo’s hence the name of the cavern. Usually the Goron’s can live at peace with the creatures and harvest their crops, but an evil king has cursed the place, filling it with evil monsters and blocking off the Goron’s from their crop by placing the boulder you just destroyed in front of the entrance.

Dodongo’s Cavern may seem like a huge place when you enter it at first, but this dungeon is quite small and can be finished pretty quickly if you follow the dot points. It’s very important you have a Hylian shield as I have said a few times now. There are many kinds of monsters in this dungeon who will burn your Deku shield to nothing before you even notice it. Annoying monsters in this dungeon are the Beamos (mechanical eyes that shoot lasers) they are easy to deal with once you get used to taking them out, but can be very annoying to battle. The boss in this dungeon is probably the easiest boss in the game.

Time taken to complete- 27 minutes

Items you should have before you enter- bottle a fairy if you can, Deku sticks, Goron’s bracelet, Hylian Shield, Deku seeds

Floor 1

 Okay to begin lets grab one of the bomb flowers on either side and blow the wall open to reveal the real entrance to the cavern. Go inside. Navi will warn you of lava pits, you will do well if you take heed of her warnings. Jump onto the first platform then onto the middle. While dodging the Beamos jump to the right moving platform. And again to safety on the right side.
 Grab the bomb flower slightly to the right and blow up the wall further down to the left. Blowing apart this wall reveals a gossip stone, do the same with the other wall on this side. (There is another Beamos) bombing the right side should reveal a tunnel. Go through
 Run through the hallway killing all the “baby Dodongo” that bother you along the way. Jump up to the platform and grab one of the statues and drag it onto the blue switch. This will open the doorway. Jump up to the next platform and go through the door.
 Take care of the two keese on the wall with a quick shot of your fairy slingshot. Smash the pots for a rupee and a heart. Continue through the next door.
 In this room you will be required to fight to Lizalfos, these lizard warriors are relatively easy to beat just concentrate on one at a time and don’t do too much jumping. Avoid their hits at all costs as they will do some damage. They should only attack you one at a time if you stay on the same platform and just let them come to you. When you have beaten them take the door that opens. There are some pots next to each side of the door if you need to refill your health.
 Follow the path and don’t bother with the door on the left just now. In this room there are full grown monsters called Dodongo’s. You can fight them if you really want too. But they are quite annoying to fight and not really necessary if you do this properly and quickly. Take out a Deku stick and look for the lit torch to the right. Run straight and light all three torches quickly to open the door to the right. Go through.
 Step on the switch in front of you, you will be shown a door that opens. Jump down back into the main room and head across to the door shown to you. When you reach the other side, grab the bomb flower and bomb the wall to the left to reveal a chest containing the Dungeon map. Head to the door you were shown before on the right.
 Inside this room you will see a dozen or so bomb flowers growing underneath a set of stairs. If you haven’t figured it out already, grab the single bomb flower down the bottom and place it right in the middle. This will blow the structure apart and send the stairs flying down. Climb the stairs and head around the path. You will see two skulltula there one of them is gold. Kill both so you don’t get hurt and climb the vines to claim you’re token. Go through the door

Floor 2

 The door slams behind you and locks don’t touch the statues yet, one of them is alive and will hurt you bad if you don’t know how to deal with it. Kill the Fire Keese before you do anything. Grab the statue blocking the way to the ladder and move it. Then climb up and hit the switch, this will open the door. Go through the door shown
 You’re on a bridge high up on the second floor so take care of the first Fire Keese before you go ahead or it might knock you off. Run all the way across the bridge and jump the section in the middle before continuing on through the passage.
 In this room spiked objects run along the floor that do a fair amount of damage too you so don’t just jump down. You C-up to look across till you see the ladder on the other side. Your goal is to reach this ladder. When you get there climb the ladder and jump back to the platform with the bomb flower. There is a number of ways to blow this wall apart, but I find the easy way is to hold onto the bomb flower till the last minute, then throw it at the wall just before it explodes. You can try getting it stuck on the small ledge buts it near impossible. When you’ve done that climb up the ladder again and go through the next passage. Shoot the eye on the wall and quickly jump across both platforms before the fire starts again. Keep going straight and fight or dodge the Dodongo’s and go through the next door.
 In this room where fighting two more Lizalfos but on smaller platforms this time. Use the same strategy to beat them. After your done head through the door on the left and continue. Shoot the eye on the wall, quickly jump to the next platform, and aim your slingshot to the left where the next eye is in the wall. Then quickly jump to the next platform. And again to safety. Jump the gap and climb to the platform and open the big chest for a Bomb bag. This bomb bag is made from a Dodongo’s stomach and will hold 30 bombs. It’s save’s you from having to pick the flowers to blow things up! Jump back down and continue down the path to the left. At the end of this path there is a switch, step on it to make instant access to the second floor!
 Equip bombs from your item sub screen and run along the path going over the giant Dodongo’s head. Throw your bombs in the holes so they drop down to the giant Dodongo’s eyes. They will glow red each time you hit them. Blow up both eyes to open and new path. Jump down onto the lower platform where the Beamos is and run through the new door.
 In this room there’s only one way you can go, so climb up on the ledge to the right and continue along the hallway, when you come out kill the fire keese and drop down. Make your way through the room and climb up the blocks. You will see a bomb able door. Climb up to it and drop a bomb to blow it up, inside here is a gold skulltula it’s optional to get. Climb up the ledges and continue through the hallway till you reach a block push the block off the edge and into the hole in the middle of the room. This will open the door to your right.
 This is the final room and all you need too do is blow the floor up. There are bombs in the chest if you have run out.

BOSS: INFERNAL DINOSAUR- King Dodongo

This boss is incredibly easy; just remember that while you are standing on the small piece of land that’s on a slope before the lava, he can’t touch you. None of his attacks can touch you while you are in this area. To fight him just run close to him while L targeting he should go for a breath while he’s trying to breathe fire at you. While he’s doing this throw bombs at him and when his head falls down slash him with you sword. 3 or 4 bombs and hits with your sword should take care of this boss. After beating him the lava will dry up and a heart container will be left. Grab it and walk into the blue light.

Your back at Death Mountain and Darunia drops down behind you.
Darunia:
It’s me Darunia!
Well done!
Thanks to you, we can once again eat the delicious rocks from the Dodongo’s cavern until or stomachs burst!
What a wild adventure! It will make an incredible story…
I can’t believe that the Dodongo’s suddenly appeared in such great numbers
And that big rock blocking the cave…
All this trouble must have been caused by that Gerudo thief Ganondorf!
He said, “Give me the spiritual stone! Only then will I open the cave for you!”
You on the other hand, risked your life for us…
Kid, I like you!
How’s about you and I become Sworn Brothers?!
No, there’s no big ceremony involved, just take this as a token of our friendship!

You now have the Goron’s ruby this is the spiritual stone of fire passed down by the Goron’s. You now have 2 out of the 3 spiritual stones.

Brother you’ll keep brushing up on your skills as you travel, won’t you?
You should go see the Great Fairy on top of Death Mountain! She will power you up!
Hey everybody! Let’s see off our brother!

(Funny Cut scene of Goron’s dropping from the mountain and knocking link over.)

================================================== ================================================== ======================

RETURN TO DEATH MOUNTAIN TRAIL.

From the entrance to The Dodongo’s Cavern head to the left back up the mountain, but instead of heading right of the red flag through to Goron City, go to the left side of the red flag and you should a sign saying: Death Mountain Trail

Climb up to where you can see the boulders, and blow each boulder up to clear the path. As you can see there is no ledge for the bomb to land on to blow the second boulder up. What you’re going to do is pull a bomb out and hold onto it just before it blows up and throw it at the boulder. The only strategy I can offer is that the bomb will tick red faster just before it blows up. If you’re not good at timing them, you should get lucky and blow it up eventually anyway. Jump across the gap and climb up to the next platform. At the top you will see another boulder. Blow it up to reveal a secret hole. Drop down into it and you’ll find 6 green rupees and 1 red rupee, which adds up to 26 rupees. There is also a cow that you can play Epona’s song to for a milk refill and 4 hearts if your health is low. When you’re done in here step on the rainbow colored platform to return to the trail.

OK now you should equip your Hylian shield (you shouldn’t have changed it from the cavern but if you have equip it now). Make sure you have some Deku seeds for your slingshot as there will be skulltula’s ahead. You’ll see as you start running down the path that flaming boulders are falling from the sky! They come down around twice every second on so, so either just run through and hope your hearts last or you can crouch down with your Hylian shield on your back for protection. These boulders actually can do some major damage if a few get you in row so be careful. When you reach the end of the path you’ll see a climbable wall. There are skulltula’s on this wall so take care of them before you start climbing. You can only reach the first one straight above you for now, so shoot it and climb up to the first platform; you can now shoot the second skulltula and climb to the next platform. Be careful not to get to close to them or they will attack you very quickly and there will be no time to counter while your climbing your only option is to drop down or be knocked down. Kill the last skulltula and climb to the top. Run forward and you will see the owl. Don’t talk to him yet. To his left you should see a bomb able wall. Blow it up to reveal the Great fairy’s Fountain, walk up to the golden Triforce mark on the floor and play “Zelda’s lullaby”. You will meet the barely dressed Great Fairy of Power. She will grant you a “sword technique” which can be achieved by holding B down to charge your sword, then releasing to do the Spin attack. More importantly she gives you Magic Power, which you will see is a green bar underneath your health bar.

*side note*
The Great Fairy of Power also mentions that you should visit a friend of hers located in the Hyrule castle neighborhood. If you would like another magic upgrade you should head for Hyrule castle now. To find the next great fairy simply climb the same vines you used to get into the castle and drop down to the other side of the gate. Follow the road down but instead of going left to reach the castle. Follow the right wall till you see a pathway leading to the right. There should be another cave located in this area.

OK back at Death Mountain after you have left the Great fairy’s fountain, head down the stairs and into the other passage. This place is the Death Mountain Crater, straight away you’ll see a timer come up and Navi will explain to you that you can’t stay down here for too long because it’s too hot. Roll into the crate slightly to the left of where you entered to reveal a gold skulltula, give it a couple slashes with your sword and take the token. Exit the crater and talk to the owl:

Owl:
Hoo hoot!
Well, it looks like you’ve grown up a little from the Great Fairy’s power…
But you still don’t really look like the hero who will save Hyrule. At least not yet!
If you are going back down the mountain, I can lend you a wing.
Come here and grab my talons! And hold on tight Hoo hooooooot!

At this point he will start to flap his wings, its not necessary for you to grab on but if you want a free ride down the mountain and to see a cool short cut-scene of the mountain scenery run around his feet and grab on! This is the only good thing the owl will do for you in this game so id takes the opportunity if I was you!

RETURN TO KAKARIKO VILLAGE.

The owl will leave you on the roof of a house in Kakariko Village. Turn around and face the back of the house and head to the left side of the house, drop down while still hanging onto the side of the wall, in other words don’t just run and jump off the side, walk up to the side and let the camera angle change so you can see what you about to drop onto. You should see a wooden platform, drop on it and go inside the hole. You should be seeing a camera view of inside the house and you’re in a cage with a cow and a piece of heart, grab the heart piece and play Epona’s song for the cow if you need milk. Exit the hole and return to the village.

When you get back on the ground you should see a lady with red hair who looks like she’s crying. She is standing outside a small empty yard surrounded by a fence, go up and talk to her and she will tell you all her Cucco’s have flown away! Look around the village for her Cucco’s and throw them all back into her empty pen.

 The first one is easy its right next to the lady, who you’re helping, grab it but don’t throw it in the pen yet.
 While still holding the Cucco walk up the stairs to where the building is still being built, you should see another Cucco off in the distance jump to it while still holding this cucco to glide across to it. Throw both Cucco’s onto the ground below you then jump down and quickly take them both to the pen.
 Head towards the entrance of the village and you’ll see another cucco
 For this cucco head all the way to the other side of town where the first set of stairs leading up to the Death Mountain trail is. And there should be a box and the bottom of the stairs next to the house. Roll into the box to smash it and reveal the third cucco; take it back to the pen.
 Head back to the stairs where you got the fourth Cucco but instead head up both flights of stairs, you should see another Cucco waiting for you there in between the two buildings. Keep holding onto it and head back to the pen. Near the pen you should see some stairs leading up to another building where the windmill is. Follow the path down till you reach the edge and jump across to the other side
 Now that you’re on the other side throw the cucco you used to jump back to the side you just came from and run down and pick up the other cucco, also throw this cucco back on the other side too.
 Now before you go running after them while you’re still on this side of the fence you should see a ladder leading up to where the wind mill is, climb it to find the last cucco. Jump down to the side you threw all the cucco’s on and quickly get them all back to the pen.

Go up and talk to the lady and she’ll give you another empty bottle. These are pretty much one of the most useful non-weapon items that can be set to C. so it’s important to get all four of these. We will go into the last two later in the walkthrough. Directly behind the lady you should see a pathway with a few bushes next to it. Take this path to reach the grave yard.

Go all the way up to the back of the graveyard and you’ll see a large tombstone that reads:

Royal Family’s Tomb

Stand on the Triforce mark in the dirt and play Zelda’s Lullaby. Lightning will strike in a cool cut-scene and split the grave open revealing a hole. Drop down into it.

 Look around the room and kill all the keese with your slingshot to open the door.
 Okay in this room there are things called Redead’s. You can try to fight them if you wish but these things will jump on you and can do a lot of damage to your five hearts worth of health. The easiest way through this room is to just run through the green stuff, it will hurt you but I came out with only half of a hearts damage, compared to what the Redead’s will do to you that is nothing. Get to the other side of the room and continue through the passageway
 You should be in a room with a large inscription in the wall, with a golden Triforce mark above it. Read the wall to learn the “Sun’s Song”. This song will change night into day and day into night when ever you need it, and it will freeze those annoying Redead’s so the path out is not so bad.

Now that your done here head back to the village through the grave yard, it should be night time from playing the Sun’s song but if it’s not play it again so its night. Go up the stairs to the building that’s still being built and you should hear the noise that a gold skulltula is near by search the inside walls of the building to find one up on a platform. Shoot it or slash it and take its token. Its now time to leave this village. On your way out you should see a tree with a boy with a mo-hawk moping underneath it, roll into the tree and a gold skulltula will fall out, slash it twice with your sword and claim it’s token.

Head out the gate and into Hyrule field.

*side note*
you will need rupee’s to play the mini games ahead so if you do not already have a full wallet, repeat the trick earlier mentioned in the walkthrough, by walking up the chain’s to the drawbridge and jumping into the middle. If you do it right you can get up to 3 Red rupees at once but mostly you get 1, sometimes 2. Climb the chain on the other side and repeat. Also when you enter the drawbridge, there is a door in the alley before you get to the market. Go inside this door and you’ll find many pots too smash. Sometimes containing up to 50 rupee’s.

*side note*
From the entrance to the village hug the right wall and go up the stairs to the right. You should be in between the building still getting built and the place where you had to jump across to grab one of the cucco’s from the platform. The door to the left of the fence (where you jumped to grab the cucco) is where the “House of Skulltula” is. Inside are people who have been cursed to live as skulltula because they were too greedy, to break the curse on them you must collect all 100 Gold Skulltula through out Hyrule. Come here to receive rewards occasionally for catching more spiders! I have listed a lot of the locations of these golden bugs through out the walkthrough, but for a full list of Gold Skulltula locations and a list of the rewards, check out the Gold Skulltula section at the bottom of the walkthrough.

*side note*
You may have noticed a hole in the ground when you jumped the gap with the wooden fence and got the last 3 cucco’s inside this hole is a chest containing a red rupee

HYRULE TOWN MARKET~ FUN & GAMES

When you get back out into the field its going to be night-time which means not only are you going to have to fight Stalchild’s but you cant get back into the town market because the draw bridge is closed. Get to the castle dodging the Stalchild’s as you go. When you reach the draw bridge, pull out your ocarina and play the sun’s song to open up the bridge and put the skeleton warriors to rest for the night.

As you enter the market head around the other side and go through to the castle.

You can either go up and talk to the guard at the gate and pay ten rupees or climb the vines and jump the gate for free but we need to get past it. When you make it past, hug the right wall till you see a sign that reads: Dead End

Continue past the sign towards the boulder. Place a bomb next to it and it will reveal another Great Fairy fountain. Crawl through the hole and play Zelda’s lullaby on the Golden Triforce symbol on the floor.

Another Great Fairy will arise from the water (possibly wearing less then her friend from the mountains) and announce that she is the Great Fairy of Magic. She will then give you Din’s fire which is a Magic spell that can be set to a C button to set things on fire or do some damage to enemies. Now that your done here head out the door and back towards the town market. You can either let yourself be caught and get thrown back out the gate or just go through the door and climb the ladder back up to where the vines took you the first time you came here.

Okay now that were back in the market its time to relax from the quest for a while and play some games. Here’s a quick list and rundown of the various shops and places around the market

 Bazaar
 Potion shop
 Happy Mask shop
 Shooting gallery
 Bombchu Bowling Alley
 Treasure Chest Contest House

Bazaar: The bazaar stocks all your weapon needs, they sells arrow’s (which you don’t need yet), bombs, Deku nuts, Deku sticks, Hearts and the Hylian Shield

Potion shop: in the Potion shop you can buy various things to fill your bottles with like, Bugs, fish, Poe spirits, Deku nuts (for some reason?), blue fire, fairies, red potion(health), green potion(magic)

Happy Mask shop: The happy mask shop stocks 8 kinds of masks in all, but to unlock them all you will have to deliver and sell 4 masks to various people through Hyrule, I have included a list of where to find these people in the side-quests section at the end of this walkthrough.

Shooting Gallery: pretty much what the title says you shoot at targets with the fairy slingshot. Hit all 10 without missing to get a Deku seed bullet bag upgrade.

Bombchu Bowling Alley: Only after completing Dodongo’s Cavern is this place open for business, bombchu’s are bomb’s which move towards the object you point them at. You must hit the targets while avoiding various objects blocking the way in this game to win a heart piece.

Treasure Chest Contest: In this game your made to pick between two chest’s to find the key to get through to another room. The order they appear in is complete random and change’s every time you play. Later in the game you get an Item that can be set to C which lets you see in the chest’s so unless you really want to do it, leave this mini game for later on.

You can do the games in any order you like but I will be doing the Bombchu bowling alley game first. I find it a lot easier then the rest of the games. From the entrance to the town market the Bombchu bowling alley is to the left side and is the door located in between the crowded stall and the stairs with the beggar underneath.

BOMBCHU BOWLING ALLEY

Approach the counter and wake the sleeping woman, she’ll ask you if you want to play for 30 rupees pick yes. In return for your 30 rupees the lady will give you 10 bombchu’s, your goal is to aim the Bombchu’s towards the hole in the center while dodging the obstacles. Each wall you blow apart will reveal the next. Here’s what I’ve seen that you can win: Bombchu’s, Bombs, Bomb bag upgrade and a Heart piece

 The first wall will be dead in the centre with one of those moving blades that you saw in the Dodongo’s Cavern. Aim your Bombchu straight ahead and wait for it to glide past. Release your Bombchu and watch the wall explode.
 The second wall is either to the far left or the far right, I find it easiest to go from slightly out from the middle and aim towards the hole. Wait for the cucco to move out of the way and when the blade glides past release a Bombchu.
 The third and final wall is incredibly hard to get sometimes just do the same as you have for steps one and two but remember that there is another big cucco that moves pretty quickly right down the end. Blow the wall apart to claim your prize. Keep playing to win other useful items.

SHOOTING GALLERY

Okay next were going to head to the shooting gallery. You should top up your rupees before heading here because unless you get lucky or you’re a wiz with the fairy slingshot you won’t get it the first time. Its 20 rupees per play. This mini-game may seem impossible at first but keep practicing and you will get it. What you have to do is shoot the rupees before they disappear you only get about half a second on each one (feels like it anyway). You must hit all 10 to win the prize which is another Deku seed bullet bag upgrade. If you win this you will be able to hold the maximum amount. Here’s the order they appear in

 1 Green rupee- middle
 1 Blue rupee- left side
 1 Blue rupee- right side
 1 Green rupee- in the middle but jumps up the falls back down
 2 Blue rupees- both of these come at the same time on the left and right side
 2 Red rupees- come at the same time and will start moving on the wire slightly above where you have been shooting from the right side
 2 Red rupees- as above but from the left side on the wire and will move faster.

HAPPY MASK SHOP

The happy mask shop side quest is optional but recommended, because it doesn’t take all that long and you get a mask at the end of it that actually does something good. Have you noticed those weird stone’s around hyrule with one eye on them? (When you hit them they tell you the time) these rocks are called “Gossip stones” after completing the happy mask shop side-quest you will be able to loan the “mask of truth”. While you’re wearing this mask, talk to the gossip stones to hear secrets about the people and things the gossip stones have seen. Sometimes there helpful hints on secret hole locations around Hyrule, sometimes its just “gossip” about people they see. Basically what you have to do is lend the mask from the shop, find the person around Hyrule who wants the mask and they will buy it from you. You then have to go back to the happy mask salesman and pay him his money to get the next mask. You only need to do four all up and in the end you have 8 to choose from when you finished. Here’s a list of the masks and people who you will have to sell them too.

 KEATON MASK- Head to Kakariko Village, you should remember the solider at the gate to Death Mountain asking you about a mask for his son. Equip the mask to a C button. Put the mask on and talk to him. He will pay you 15 rupee’s for the mask.
 SKULL MASK- Head for The Lost Woods in kokiri forest. From the entrance take a left turn and you should see a skull kid up on a platform. Step on the lower platform while wearing the skull mask and talk to him. He will buy it for 10 rupee’s. You lose money on this mask.
 SPOOKY MASK- Back to Kakariko Village, but this time head for the graveyard. There is a small child walking around. Talk to him while wearing the mask and he’ll buy it for the full price of
 BUNNY HOOD- This mask is the most difficult, only because the person you’re trying to sell it too is running around Hyrule. Not to worry he runs the same path around Lon Lon ranch every time. Head to the east side of Lon Lon Ranch and wait on the dirt path, late in the day you should see him running. Follow him until he sits down and sell him the mask. Before selling this mask, spend all you rupee’s on anything you like, it doesn’t matter just spend them all. After selling this mask he’ll give you as many rupees as your wallet allows you to hold, and you only have to pay back 50 rupees. So if you have been out catching gold skulltula’s that may be as much as 500!

Exit the town market once you’re done.

GERUDO VALLEY.

One more place to go before we get back to our quest. From the drawbridge at the entrance to Hyrule town market face directly out to Hyrule field. You should be looking at Lon Lon ranch. Start heading towards it but head to the right and follow the dirt path. You should reach a hill as you hit the bottom there should be another dirt path leading between two walls. Approach them to be confronted by the owl

Owl:
Head south from here to Reach Lake Hylia’s full, rich waters.
If you go west, you’ll find Gerudo Valley. There’s a hideout of a gang of thieves on the other side of the valley.
Well, you’re free to go anywhere you want!
Ho ho ho… hoooo!
Do you want to hear what I said again? (Pick no)
No matter how hard it is, just don’t get discouraged. Ho Ho Hoo!

Take the path to the right to reach Gerudo Valley

When you enter run up and cross the piece of wood acting as a bridge. You should see a cucco, grab it and walk to the left side of the ledge look with C-up and locate the lower ledge off in the distance with a wooden box on it. Glide down to it using the cucco and throw it into the wall in an effort to keep it there (it might still run off) roll into the box to smash it and reveal a piece of heart.

Turn around and look for the waterfall. Use the cucco to glide down to the lowest platform on the left side of the river. There is a cow to get milk refills and a Gerudo lady is down here for some reason. If you have any “Bugs” in a bottle release them on top of the brown patch of dirt. A gold skulltula will pop out. Kill it and claim it’s token. Run towards the waterfall and behind it you’ll find a ladder leading up to another easy heart piece.

*side note* if at any time you lose your cucco and cannot get down to the next ledge, just jump in the river and let your self float all the way down. You’ll end up at “Lake Hylia” where you can exit and get back to the Gerudo valley.

Zora’s domain is our next location to visit. To get here head for Kakariko village but instead of crossing the bridge and running up the stairs, follow the river to the right and it should lead you up a hill continue to follow the river till you see a cave that goes to the left. Cross the river and enter Zora’s River.

ZORA’S RIVER.

Approach the boulder’s to be confronted by the owl

Owl:
Hoo hoo!
Looks like you’ve gotten bigger and stronger already, Link!
Just ahead lays Zora’s Domain. The zoras serve Hyrules Royal Family by protecting this water source.
Their door will not open for anyone except those who have some connection to the royal family.
Let them hear the melody of the Royal Family! Hooo hoo hoooot!

Blow up the boulders with a bomb and continue. Note the tree on your left before you go any further, if you roll into it a gold skulltula will drop out. Slash it a couple of times and take the token. You should see a cucco in a ring of stones and a guy sitting down eating beans. This guy is pretty important so remember where he is. He sells magic beans, which you can plant in the soft patches of soil that you see all around hyrule. I'll go more into that later. Grab the cucco and glide across to the right side. Hold onto the cucco and continue up the path jump across the small gap and tap the path to the left and follow it around. You should be able to see a platform you can jump to then another platform you can jump to from that to grab a piece of heart!. The trick with jumping to the platform is when you get really close throw the cucco and grab hold of the edge of the ledge.
Jump down to the lower piece of land to your left, you might notice a log with some frogs out in the river, walk out and pull out your ocarina. Play them a few song’s to receive purple rupee’s (50 rupees!) climb up the platform and run through the river to reach the next platform. Take the path left and cross the bridge dodging the enemies as you go. Jump across the various platforms to get to the waterfall.

Stand on the inscription and play Zelda’s Lullaby to show your connection with the royal family. The water will slow temporarily to allow you to jump through to Zora’s Domain.

ZORA’S DOMAIN.

To begin with follow the path around till you reach a fork and take the left side. You should see a long bunch of stairs, run up them and when you get to the top ignore the zora king sitting on his platform for now and run to the left where there should be a zora waiting at the end. Talk to him to play the diving game for 20 rupee’s. It’s really easy; the zora will throw some rupee’s down into the water below. Your goal is to dive down and grab them all before the timer runs out. You should get it first shot but if you don’t, you won’t have to worry too much because you get most of your rupee’s back when collect them in the game. Win this mini-game to receive a “Silver Scale” which will let you hold your breath underwater twice as long.

Take a bit of time to explore the domain, you will notice that all over the place there is torches that have not been lit… all accept two that is. Their in the room at the top of the stairs where the king is. Run down and light to torch at the bottom of the stairs. Then light the torch out the front of the shop. Then run towards the water you can only run on some parts so be careful or you’ll have to start over. You’ll see another torch in the middle of the water, light it. The last two are behind the water fall. A chest will appear, open it for another heart piece.

Jump into the water and look for a hole deep in the water. Dive down once you find it and swim into the hole. You will be transported to Lake Hylia. Straight in front of you will be a bottle at the very bottom of the lake floor with a letter in it. Navi will try to talk to you and you can L target it to make it easier to grab. Once you’ve done this swim back through the hole to Zora’s Domain.

Run back to the king’s chambers and run up to the platform to talk to him. Equip the bottle with the letter in it to a C button and show it to him. He will read it and find out his daughter Princess Ruto is stuck inside there guardian god Lord Jabu Jabu. He then announces that you will be the one to find Ruto, he keeps the letter and you get another empty bottle. He will then start to move over to clear the way through (which takes forever) when he’s finishing shifting over, run back down from the platform and follow the path around to get up to where he is. Walk through the gap to continue on towards Lord Jabu Jabu

DUNGEON THREE: INSIDE LORD JABU JABU.

When you come out you will be in Zora’s Fountain. Run straight and to the right till you see a giant fish. Approach Lord Jabu Jabu and equip your bottle with a fish inside and dump it out on the ground in front of him. This will trigger a short cut-scene where the giant fish will open his mouth and suck you inside!

Dungeon difficulty- Medium [2 ½]

Summary- Lord Jabu Jabu is the guardian spirit of Hyrules water and the zora people. He is very highly respected in their society and is given his own shine in a small river behind the Kings chambers in Zoras Domain. The extremely large fish is usually a kind, gentle guardian spirit but since Ganondorf visited him, His insides have been swarming with electric monsters much like the Great Deku Tree.

For some reason I never liked this dungeon, the electric monsters annoy me up until where you get a weapon that kills them quickly, I also HATE having to carry Princess Ruto everywhere. I also HATE the mini boss (Octobak). When attempting to knock this temple out, you should set out some time out and make sure you finish it without quitting your game, it will be easier then trying to find which room you went in last and having to run around the entire dungeon. Also as always stock as many fairies as you have bottles they will help you a lot in this dungeon, the electric monsters can do quite a lot of damage very quickly and if you don’t you may end up wishing you had one and you don’t, so be prepared.

Time taken to complete- 43 minutes

Items you should have before you enter- Deku nuts, full bullet bag for slingshot, empty bottles (for fairies!),

 From the entrance kill or dodge the Shaboms (Bubble’s) with Deku nuts, and deflect the bullets or dodge the octoroks. After doing this shoot the tooth like switch you can see hanging from the roof with your Fairy slingshot.
 In this room this is a Bari (electric jellyfish) floating around dodge it and follow the path around to the next door.
 In this room you will meet the Zora king’s daughter, Ruto. She does not seem pleased at all to see you. She takes off and falls threw a hole in the floor. Drop into the same hole you see her drop down. When you hit the bottom talk to her again till she decides to sit down and let you carry her. Remember not to leave her behind from now on, you must take her everywhere! Continue through the door behind you.
 Put the princess down and continue down the path, kill all the enemies in the room, most of which can be stunned and taken care of with Deku nuts. Then go back and grab the princess, jump into the water and throw her up to the other side. Step on the switch on the floor and swim up to where the princess is. Take care of the bubbles then continue on with Ruto. Around the corner there is another tooth like switch to shoot on the roof, before you can continue on.
 Drop the princess straight away. Take care of the octoroks, and then grab the princess and wait for the platform to come down. Jump across and get a free ride back up to the 1st floor. Head back into the room where you first met Ruto. But run across to the door on the other side.
 In here the path branches off into 5 directions, you will notice some tailpasarans (electric worms) which can be taken care of by aiming for the tail, they deliver a quick shock if allowed the time to do so, so be careful. Head to the room on the far right while holding Ruto. Place her on the switch and run through the newly opened door (don’t worry she will just be back in the room where you first met her when you return)
 In this room you will face 5 Stingers. Kill them all to get the Boomerang. Set it to a C-button straight away, it will make this dungeon much easier. The boomerang allows you to take care of all the pesky electric enemies in Jabu Jabu’s belly. Head back out and grab the princess from where you first met her. Head back into the room that goes 5 ways and head to the far left and place her on the blue switch. Head through the door
 In here you must fight the parasitic tentacles of Jabu Jabu’s belly. Just keep moving while L-targeting it and use the boomerang to take it out for good. 4 hits should do it. Killing it reveals a chest containing the Dungeon Map. Head back out the door and princess Ruto should be waiting for you. (The parasitic tentacle you just fought is one of three which are connected to tentacles blocking the path through this part of Jabu Jabu, destroying each one removes a tentacle blocking the path to the next)
 From where you fought the red tentacle head to the alcove to your left inside you will fight a bunch of bubble’s which you have to beat within a 40 second time limit, if your successful a chest appears containing the Compass. Head out the door and back to the far right side with Ruto, you will notice a tentacle is gone and you can go on through to fight another parasite. After completing this you have opened the way through the middle passage of the 5 way section.
 In this room you must fight another parasitic tentacle and 4 Bari. Don’t move from the alcove near the door and wait for the jellyfish to approach you, take them out one by one nice and easy with the boomerang and start on the tentacle. Once you’re done here pick up Ruto and head back to the room where you first met her. From the door drop down the second hole on the right side, you should land on a platform that had a previously blocked door. Shoot both gold skulltula on the wall beside you and claim there token with your boomerang. When you’re done here head through the door.
 When you come into this room you’ll see the shining blue stone up on a platform, throw Ruto up to it, and be ready for a fight. The platform will rise up and take Ruto, and bring back a Bigocto. To beat this big boy, first of all you must watch which way the platform is rotating, because the Bigocto will be going the opposite way. Hug the spiked platform without touching it and run till you reach the back of the monster. Quickly L-target and throw your boomerang, he will turn blue meaning he’s stunned. Hit the green spot on his backside to damage him even more! 4 hits will take care of this beast. Climb onto the platform and continue on to the real boss. When you get up here there should be three pots behind you if you have an empty bottle, catch the fairy that’s hiding in the middle pot. Take care of the Bari and continue on through the door.
 There are two red platforms in here bouncing around; to temporarily stun them allowing you to cross hit them with your boomerang. There is an octorok in the water on the far side that will shoot at you, I recommend killing this octorok first before attempting the jump. When you done continue on through the door.
 Jump onto the platform to lower it too the first floor, you will see a door with a blue switch in front of it, it’s the same as all the other switches you have dealt with in here accept the problem is you need someone or something to hold the switch down while you run through and we no longer have Ruto with us. A quick examination of the room and you will see some boxes that you may remember running past when you started this dungeon. Pick one up and use it the same as you did with Ruto. When you have opened the door continue on through the last room.
 In the last room there are 5 Bari, kill them all and on the far side from where you entered there is a climbable wall with a gold skulltula on it. Once you have killed it and taken the token climb the wall till you reach the ledge at the top. You will see another tooth-like switch hanging out of the roof, L-target it and position so your boomerang will go around the glass and hit the switch. The door is now open to go through to the boss.

BOSS: Bio- electric anemone BARINADE

This big electric monster looks intimidating at first but once you remove his electric outer shell it’s nothing more then dodging and getting in quickly with the boomerang. The outside of this monster is covered in electric jelly fish which prevents you from coming close to it. You will also notice that at the start of the battle it is attached to the roof via its tentacles. Target its three tentacles and take them out with your boomerang, remember to L-target the entire time. You need to aim for the weak spot in its middle point, after you stun the middle point it will release all the jellyfish that make up its outer electric shell, take care of all of the small jellyfish quickly with the boomerang and Barinade will be almost helpless, after that its just simply dodging his electric attacks by just running a circle around him while holding L-target, just keep moving. Remember when you stun him to L-target and do the jump attack with your sword but pressing the A button.

When you’ve beaten Barinade collect your heart container, fill up your weapon supplies by smashing the pots around the room if you haven’t already in the battle and walk into the blue light with Ruto.

Ruto:
“You… You’re late! What took you so long? You’re useless!
I was just lonely, that’s all… Just a little!!”

“You! You looked cool… cooler than I thought you would, anyway… Just a little!
Well, anyway, you saved me, so I guess I’ll reward you.
What do you wish? Just tell me… (Pick I want that spiritual stone)
You mean the Spiritual stone of Water, Zora’s Sapphire, don’t you?
My mother gave it to me and said I should give it only to the man who will be my husband.
You might call it the Zora’s Engagement Ring!
All right!
I’ll give you my most precious possession: Zora’s Sapphire!

Don’t tell my father…”

TEMPLE OF TIME.

Summary: The temple of time is an ancient churchlike place that holds the power within to control time itself. From this point on it will play a major part in the storyline of the game. The temple consists of a large room with a Triforce pad (which you will learn the use of later) and an alter. Beyond the alter is the Door of Time which can only be opened by someone who has all three spiritual stones and holds the key, the Ocarina of Time.

Okay first of all congratulations on finishing PART ONE of the game, some major parts of the story will now come out. Now that you have collected all three spiritual stones its time to go visit princess Zelda at Hyrule castle.

Head towards the draw bridge to see a great cut-scene. The sky turns dark and the draw bridge lowers, a white horse rides past Link with Zelda being hauled away at high speed atop the horse with Impa. Take Notice of the object she throws into the water.

Ganondorf follows on an evil black steed, and stop’s beside link.

Ganondorf:
“Arrrrgh! I lost her!
You over there! Little Kid!
You must have seen the white horse gallop past just now… Which way did it go?! Answer me!
So you think you can protect them from me… You’ve got guts kid.”
(Link draws his sword and shield)
“Heh... Heh... Heh... You want a piece of me?! Very funny! I like your attitude!”
(Ganondorf shoots a bolt of energy at Link)
“Pathetic little fool! Do you realize who you’re dealing with?!
I am Ganondorf! And soon I will rule the world!”
With all this said he rides off into the distance and the sky returns to normal.

Now head for the right side of the draw bridge and jump into the moat. Navi will go green and highlight the object that Zelda threw into the water. L-target it and dive down and grab it.

“You found the Ocarina of Time!
This is the Royal Family’s hidden
Treasure which Zelda left behind.
It glows with a mystical light…”

Cut-scene

Zelda:
“Link… can you hear me? It’s Zelda…
Link. When you hold this Ocarina in your hand…
I won’t be around anymore…
I wanted to wait for you, but I couldn’t delay any longer…
At least I could leave you the Ocarina and this Melody…”

*SONG OF TIME*

C-RIGHT A C-DOWN C-RIGHT A C-DOWN

“Now Link. Play this melody in front of the alter in the Temple of Time. You must protect the Triforce!”

OK now all the loose ends are tied up and we have everything we need, continue on to the Temple of Time. You may have already visited the Temple at some point, in which case you know where it is, if you have not the Temple of Time can be located by taking the small set of stairs in between the Happy Mask shop and The Potion shop. This will take you to a church like building with a pond out the front and four gossip stones. Run around the pond and into the door. Take a look around the Temple if you wish, but you will locate the alter and Door of time right up the front. Walk up to the alter and play the song of time. Your three hard earned spiritual stones will take there places at the alter and open the door of time. enter the next section of the temple of time, you should be in a large room with some platforms leading up to a pedestal, where you will find the master sword. Walk up and grab the sword to start the next cut scene.

You will instantly be transported to the Chamber of sages, where a wise elderly looking man named Raru will explain to you that because you were not of age to be the Hero of time, pulling the master sword from its pedestal sealed you away in this chamber for seven years. After a fairly long cut-scene you are given the Light medallion which is your first out of six you will need to find throughout the next part of the game. When Raru is done explaining things some more to you, you will be transported back to the pedestal inside the temple of time, where sheik will be waiting for you. Sheik will eventually tell you that you need to head for the Forest Temple, which can be located where you learned Saria’s Song in the Sacred Forest Meadow, but before you can go you must find an item that will allow you entrance to the Temple.

Familiarize yourself with adult Link, the Master Sword can be used in the same way you used the Kokiri Sword as a child. The only difference is that you can’t use a lot of the weapons you found as a kid. But don’t worry we find new, better weapons along the way in the next part of our adventure. Leave the temple of time and head for Hyrule Town Market. You will notice soon as you get outside, that there is a evil looking ring around Death Mountain off in the distance which doesn’t look good at all. You may want to take a moment to check out what has happened to Hyrule Castle, it is now Ganon’s Castle and is an massive sinister looking palace, floating over a pit of molten lava. You may want to take some time and see what has happened to the place, when your done head though the Market and out towards Hyrule Field. From the draw bridge head straight ahead to Lon Lon Ranch.

*side note*
Make sure you have some at least 70 rupees as where going to need to them inside the ranch. If you need to get some quick rupees, scour the area for bushes. The more rupees you have the better so stock up before entering.

LON LON RANCH.

Note that it has to be day time for you to proceed.

Walk past the house and head for the front gate of the fenced area where you met Malon earlier to learn Epona’s Song. You should see a strange looking little man with a moustache name Ingo. Go Up and talk to him and he will offer you a ride on the horses for 10 rupees. Pay him and you will automatically be put in the fenced area with a horse in front of you. Look around and you should see a horse you recognize, Epona! Play Epona’s Song and she will come right up to you. If you want to, have a quick ride around the paddock and get used to controlling Epona. There is 2 fences to jump over, you should also get used to feeding her carrots. You have a total of six up on the screen and each time you give her one she goes faster. Never use the last carrot as Epona will slow down A LOT if you do.

While riding Epona, talk to Ingo. He will ask you if you want to bet 50 rupees on a race around the ranch with him. Say yes and the race will start.

To win this race you must remember to stay close to the fence, but don’t stay too close because if you hit the corners wrong it will slow you down enough to lose the race. Never use the last carrot, unless your just about to cross the finish line. Its only one lap so when you come around the final corner go all out. After you beat him Ingo is so mad that he wants to race again. This time he wants to bet Epona, Some find the second race to be harder, but its pretty much the same deal just stick close to the fence and watch your carrots and you should beat him in no time.

Ingo is so mad about losing the race and Epona (who he had promised as a horse for Ganondorf) he closes the gate over and announces that you may never take Epona from the ranch. There is two ways you can go about getting yourself and Epona out of here. Either jump the gate Ingo closed over after the race, or look for one of the wooden fences that surround the perimeter of Lon Lon Ranch. Both ways will get you out the same, but jumping the Wooden fence triggers a short cut scene of Link and Epona jumping over the fence and down a small cliff face.

After you have gotten yourself and Epona out of the ranch you will be able to call her from any where in Hyrule Field by playing Epona’s Song on your Ocarina. The horse will reduce your travel time from place to place by a lot.

Don’t be worried about entering the ranch again and losing Epona, as when you return Ingo has had a change of heart

Re: ocarina of time- WALKTHROUGH

Might get in trouble for posting over and over just to warn you. Anyways, it's a good walkthrough, I like the detail. Word of advice, change the color font on the walkthrough on your webpage, hard to read against the background.
