Zelda Fan Game [recruiting spriters]

Hey everyone, first post! ^_^

I actually came to this forum because I'm looking for people who are interested in joining a fan game project
I know it has been done a few times before, but no one actually finished it, so I decided to give it a shot myself, with a little help from a team.
I'm talking about recreating Ocarina of Time in 2D...

Our team will look a bit like this:
- Main Coder (myself)
- Secondary Coder (my friend, Reed)
Codes the engine, the quests, and everything interactive...
- Sprite Rippers (as many as possible)
Around 4/6th of the game will consist of aLttP sprites.
The rippers rip as many sprites from this game as possible, so they can be used in the game...
- Custom Sprite Designers (3-5 would be nice)
Draw the sprites which aren't already in aLttP (eg: OOT's enemies, and a few unique items)
- Level Editors
Use the ripped/drawn sprites to redesign OOT's gameworld in 2D.
A thorough knowledge of OOT is required.
The ones that kinda know the game inside out can also help building the sidequests...

We're making this game in Flash, but no knowledge is needed to join the team.
I'm especially looking for custom sprite designers, because no one on our team has experience drawing sprites...

uh, someones already currently making a oot 2d! But if you want I can draw you some sprites! I'm a pretty good drawer, but regrettably I havn't posted any art in the forums. I don't have any expiriance drawing sprites, but I can work wonders with a pencil! as soon as I hear back from you (if you say i can join that is) Ill get busy customizing sprites and drawing new ones! By the way my scanners broken so I wont be able to post what Ive drawn for a little bit.

(the official site is offline, and people on various forums said that the guy quit/was shut down).
That's why I decided to start something like this myself.

If you can post your contact information (msn or aim, e-mail, stuff like that), you're in!

I can't rip any sprites, and I'm not particuarly good at drawing them, but I think I can help. I know a website that has a TON of ALttP sprites, including all the individual sprites in a motion (eg. walking, swinging sword). Just click here and you'll find absolutely loads of ALttP sprites. I can make sprites, but I don't know if I'm good enough to join, if you'd like to see what I can do, just click on the link in my siggy.

Actually OOT2d is very much in progress. Go to www.zfgc.com and they have a topic on it.

Anyways... I can do some spriting if you want me to.

Anyway, I'm really excited about this project, so I'm gonna try finishing it myself.

Hey, what coding program are you using? I use GameMaker 6, if you do, too, PM me if you reach a roadblock!

ok! cuber 3, my email is sk8kidd@sbc global.net . Oh and one more thing, should I draw the sprites on grid paper so it looks more pixelated and easier to copy into the game? Or should I just freehand them onto blank paper? I think Ill draw a dampi first, there was no sprite for him in alttp, and he plays a vital role in oot, so ill draw him first! My scanners almost fixed so I should be able to post some stuff over the weekend maybe. Until then! Oh, one more thing, my aim is zeldask8r0990 (same as my forums username) but I hardly ever go on it anymore!

Could you draw the sprites on your computer (in paint or something) ?
If that doesn't work out, you can always draw and scan them as concept art
I appreciate your help, as soon as I have a list of things we still need, I'll send it over.

I think I said that in my first post, but I'm not sure.
Most people use GameMaker, and one guy tried in C#, but I've been a Flash designer for around 4 years now, with 2 years of game design experience.
I'm used to Flash and actionScript, so we'll be using Flash.
Maybe that seems like an odd choice, but I'm sure it'll turn out great

ok sorry for the double post. cuber3, i suck really bad at paint app. Sorry, youll have to find someone else to be a spriter. If you need any actual drawing stuff pm me, Ill draw some crap. Ill work on some concept art, Ill try to draw some more cartoony pics of oot characters. hopefully by the time im done with the art my scanner will be fixed, until then!

uh, cuber, I was messing around with some sketches, and, I still have on question. Do you want the concept art to look ww style or tp/oot style? I thing it should look like the art in the oracle series cutscenes but thats just me. Ya I think ww style would look better but its your call, since your the lead designer guy.

It doesn't really matter...
Any style will fit, it'd be nice to have some fresh and original art for the game

hehe, I drew this funny pic of link looking all dazed! and one of him swinging his sword in a punce like motion, I drew them ww style, I think it fits in better with the oot feel, lots of amotion, link needs to have a large, kiddy expressive face. As soon as my scanner works again (soon I swear!) ill post em! PS, how long do you expect this game to take to be made? Not that I want you to rush, just so I have an idea of how much time I have to draw. And if you could post, to share your updates and how the games comingalong. Im gonna put this thing in my sig, to tell peaple to check out this thread, maybe that way you can get more spriters?!?

I'll update here and on my own site / wiki, don't worry...
Well, a project this big will take quite some time, so you don't have to rush anything.
Once we have a nice engine coded, it shouldn''t be too hard.
However, we still need people to do tilesets (well, they don't have to be tiles, we're not making it tile-based) for the dungeons (overworld is all ALttP sprites).
Just post/send your pics whenever your scanner is fixed

Uh, cuber3, I know you didn't request for them in your first post, but are you looking for any text workers at all? I mean, someone to write/edit text for the storyline etc. If you are, I'd like to put up my hand.

Of course, if you're just going to follow the OOT storyline word-for-word, I won't be of much use.
