Smash Fire

Okay, I finally got started on a website I've had in my head for ages. It's called Smash Fire. Smash = Brawl, Fire = Fire Emblem.

There's a general Nintendo category too though, haha.

Anyway, as I just pointed out, it's solely based around FE and Brawl as well as the general Nintendo category. Click here to see it. Yeah it's not complete yet, but it's getting there! By the way, I'm still an amateur at forum skins, so bear with me. I also still can't get that damned category text to center. Can anyone help me? DX

Personally, I think your forum has too many boards at the moment. Some sections will get more attention than others, leaving some empty. The forum in general will look dead. Starting out small and adding boards as they are needed would probably serve you better.

Hey, this forum has a lot of boards too. So does Smashboards. Some of the boards in both sites hardly get attention as well. ZU's Temple of Knowledge board seems pretty inactive, for example.

What she means, is that several board will be empty for a long while, and to newcomers, it would make the forum look dead overall, thus less people would be willing to join.

ZU's been around for years though, and when it started out, it didn't have all the boards it has now. You can't compare your newly started boards to one that has been around for almost a decade.

I'm not saying your boards should remain small forever, I'm just saying you should keep it limited in the beginning. Fewer boards with lots of posts will make the forums look more active than a ton of boards with very few or no posts in each.

Well, I'd delete some boards, but it took me hours to get them all up. My work would have been for naught if I delete them now. Otherwise, I'd take your advice. >_<

You should be able to just go into your admin panel and hide them. Then you'd have them ready when/if they're needed.

Ah yeah, true. I'll do that. Plus, I think I may as well stick the SSE board inside the one player mode board as a sub-forum.

Its pretty cool, and I think I'll join, but like the others said too many boards.

I suggest you condense Nintendo down to a single board, with threads in it, that are "_______ General Disscussion thread" put the game in the blank. It'd clean up the bunch of boards.

If I made a forum, I'd start with two boards, and then add as requested. And maybe combine some of the Smash stuff, it seems like you've spread the discussion area waaaay to thin.

Overall though, I like it, I'll join.

EDIT : Oh yeah! And get affiliates! Lots of them from other sites like yours; trust me, you'll get a lot more members.

Two boards? WAY too few for my forum. If I had just one topic, such as only FE or only Brawl, maybe two per category, but that's it.

I also already hid some boards. xP

But great that you're joining! I never thought about affiliates though. I'll work on that. :]

Haha, no, I didn't mean reduce yours! I meant that if I made a forum that's what I'd do. I understand why you need as many as you have, I don't care, I was just saying

Yeah! I had a site once, and I had a few affiliates, and we all just trafficked around each others' forum's.

EDIT : Also, not sure if you know or not, but I tried to post a thread, and it said all thread need to be approved by a moderator. =3

Really? Huh. I'll see how I can fix that. I don't quite yet know my way around the admin panel yet though, so it might be a little while. It's so complicated in there.

I think what the others are saying is rather true - maaaany boards, and you should put most of them on ice until you have enough members to keep the boards somewhat busy.

What I recommend is that you start out with only essential forums. Maximum two boards for gaming - Nintendo and non-Nintendo, for example - with perhaps one board for Smash and another for Fire Emblem since those two are the whole idea behind your forum.

You probably do not need forums like Community Center. New members could post in a topic in General Chit-Chat, really. You can keep the other boards, I suppose.

Seems hardly anyone wants to join anyway. Which is strange, seeing as the entire forum can cover a large audience.

Not being able to post doesn't help.

I'm working on fixing that too.

And I think I finally know why that is. xP
