Re: Favorite Board Game
Well, D&D's technically part of the D20 system, and doesn't even require a board or any equipment to play... ^^ as long as you have the dice or a random number generator and a DM, you're set. ^_^
But my favorite games...
1. Chinese Chess (far better than regular chess in my opinion, but it's obviously not that popular in the US - if you want to learn how to play, though, check out wikipedia.)
2. Bridge (a great card game, but hard as heck... you have to keep track of *every* single card in the deck at one time... if you get confused once, you'll lose like 100 points)
3. Stratego (it's just darn fun, and is a pretty simple game to play. ^^)
4. Reversi (which does have a board version - it's called Othello, but it takes forever to play because you have to flip the pieces so many times! x.X)
5. Cribbage (Which ASCI NEEDS TO PLAY WITH ME!! :O - it's an uber-simple game once you learn the statistics for it, but overall it's still a good time. It is, by far, my favorite "lounging beside the beach" card game.)
Honestly, I think I'm probably one of the few people in the world that absolutely can't *stand* Monopoly... the games that I play tend to stall because nobody is ever willing to sell their property to anyone else unless they get something uber-good in the process. If you're playing with more than three people, the game tends to take about four hours automatically.
Edit: OMG! Apples to Apples! :O I don't consider that a board game, but that'd definitely get the #2 spot if it was. If you don't know what it is, wikipedia it now!! And my friends all have this unspoken rule where no matter what, the Anne Frank card always wins. ^_^
