I like it! Holy **** it looks amazing! I wonder if that was Dark Samus, and that giant spider in that morph ball scene was Metroid Prime? Well, it's cool!

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

Yes, that is indeed Dark Samus based on the models I've seen of her/it floating around. I don't know what that Pink thing (girl?) next to her was. She looked almost like the ghost of a space pirate or something. Anyways, I have dial-up, so this will be a long download for me, though it looks to be worth it! (I've only seen the first few seconds of the trailer -- I'll probably let it download and then watch the whole thing and then give my full take on it.)

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

Cool gameplay ideas. Especially the grapple beam zip line. Looks exhilirating. I think it is safe to say that if nothing else, Corruption will probably offer more action packed gameplay and likely a higher fun factor.

Yucky characters. I'm sorry, but ever since Echoes, despite a valiant effort to expand the franchise, Retro and NST have really cheesed it up. Metroid is becomming less and less about quality and more and more of a discomboblulated hell fest. This series seems to lack any sort of cohesion or direction right now. It is hard to describe what I mean in words, but it just seems like they're trying too hard to be cool, and it shows. After Corruption, I think Nintendo ought to take it back and assign Retro something new.

[Edit]

Alright. I just watched it again. Way too many power attacks. What is this? Dragon Ball Z? This hardly seems like Metroid anymore. And I can't tell you how much I have come to despise the phazon concept. It was cool the first time.

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

.....wft...

That was just crazy...

well it seems as though samus has a cadre of sorts to take down dark samus once and for all... crazy.. just crazy

And Shiek 84, I think your comments are a bit pre-mature, we really know nothing about the game, the well, sure the trailer definantly makes the story seem very complicated and such, but the same could have been said regarding a few of the TP trailers, developers want to show off as much as they can to pull in an audience for sales. Nearly every trailer for new games look like a convoluted hell fest, it's normal.

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

you aint lying, this game looks like its shaping up nicely. like it might actually not be just more of the same. i like the part with samus gliding along with the grapple. also early in the video it says hyper mode and you see samus blasting through enemies. could this be the return of the speed boots from super metroid?? large realistic robots were also very surprising for the metroid series. also curious about that weird looking ship at the end of the trailer. well it looks like ive got a new game to get hyped up for after my tp hype is cured.

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

Well I'm not really a fan of the Metroid Prime series in fact I've only played the first one so this video didn't really make me gasp in amazement but one thing that really bothered me was the enemies. They all seemed to have a neon color somewhere on their bodys and really bright neon so bright I thought I was going to burn out my retinas. I don't remember the enemies in the original Metroid Prime being so flashy.

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

It looks as though that girlish ghost can transform from mech-ish thing to "human" again. It looks though it is somehow connected to Dark Samus, though that may just be the way it is situated in this trailer. Dark Samus seems to also be able to drain the power out of other machines, and it looks like she does so to Samus at one point. Interesting.

I'll have to look at it further tomorrow.

Well, that was always one really cool aspect of the first two. You were pretty much alone in your travels against the incredible odds. I hope they still make it feel that way while you're exploring, but I don't mind the addition of characters/allies. Hopefully it'll help to progress the story and make it a bit more epic.

Every Metroid game has had a bunch of flashy, chaotic moments. At most, I bet MP3 will only have a few more, just to make it go out with a bang. It's just like VG said, with early videos like these, the developers like to catch the viewers attention and show off the biggest things about the game in a jumble to make them interested and excited for it.

EDIT-

And some of those new moves that Samus has are sick.

But that's what Metroid's all about. I actually hope there's not too many.

Is this the last one in the Prime series? I don't mind the first-person aspect at all, but I wouldn't mind seeing some third-person 3D stuff in the future.

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

The game is the third metroid in the trilogy. I'm calling it MP3 when I feel like it. If you get confused about it being a music file when we're talking about video games, then...well, sucks to be you, I guess.

Keep in mind that in metroid fusion samus had her computer friend, and in the comic she had armstrong, besides, Prime is just a spin of series anyway, anything can happen.

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

The game looks absolutely astounding. While people have complained about the graphics, I do see improvement, and that's what is important. ...Not that we need to bring up Wii's graphics again.

If nothing else though, the game looks beautiful. What I really want out of this game is a loooooooooong loooooooooooooong main game to finish up the saga and a great story to go along with it. The latter part would be more of the harder of the two, since the game could easily be a "Chase Metroid Prime Down" type of plot. Prime 3 needs to get back to it's roots and make us rediscover and then some what made the original so great.

Re: New Metroid prime 3 vid

Dark Samus, Metroid Prime and Ridley in the same game? *Implodes* This is gonna kick ass, and it's great to see Hyper Mode in action. I also noticed some absurdly large rock creatures who'll probably mage great Elite Pirate-esque fights.
